  • In this time-lapse tutorial, I'll be showing you how I created this simple and sweet isometric scene in Blender 2.8. We'll be sticking with Cycles render engine for this one to really get that surreal look!

    Welcome to RenderRides! I've been working on this tutorial for a while now to make sure it's the best quality possible. I ran into a lot of problems during the previous tutorial and that caused a lot of glitches in the final video. I feel like I didn't put much time into it. But I really took my time with this one and made sure it wasn't as long, and it wasn't as bad! I think the quality difference is pretty astonishing and yes, I'm very satisfied with this one! I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I did making it!
    Special thanks to Nitrogen for the different colored version of this scene!

      Can u explain what is moths is ? I'm a new comer here and want to learn about Blender

    • @ttttt_
      @ttttt_ 3 года назад +4

      @@lilspidey1117 Moths are a paraphyletic group of insects that includes all members of the order Lepidoptera that are not butterflies, with moths making up the vast majority of the order. There are thought to be approximately 160,000 species of moth, many of which have yet to be described. Most species of moth are nocturnal, but there are also crepuscular and diurnal species.
      The modern English word "moth" comes from Old English "moððe" (cf. Northumbrian "mohðe") from Common Germanic (compare Old Norse "motti", Dutch "mot", and German "Motte" all meaning "moth"). Its origins are possibly related to the Old English "maða" meaning "maggot" or from the root of "midge" which until the 16th century was used mostly to indicate the larva, usually in reference to devouring clothes.
      Moths frequently appear to circle artificial lights, although the reason for this behavior (positive phototaxis) is currently unknown. One hypothesis is called celestial or transverse orientation. By maintaining a constant angular relationship to bright celestial light, such as the moon, they can fly in a straight line. Celestial objects are so far away that, even after traveling great distances, the change in angle between the moth and the light source is negligible; further, the moon will always be in the upper part of the visual field, or on the horizon. When a moth encounters a much closer artificial light and uses it for navigation, the angle changes noticeably after only a short distance, in addition to being often below the horizon. The moth instinctively attempts to correct by turning toward the light, thereby causing airborne moths to come plummeting downward, and resulting in a spiral flight path that gets closer and closer to the light source.
      Studies have found that light pollution caused by the increasing use of artificial lights has either led to a severe decline in the moth population in some parts of the world or has severely disrupted nocturnal pollination.
      I hope that clears it up.

      @@RenderRides Quick question I'm having a hard time finding an answer to - is it possible to link the room to the cubes that are punching a hole in my walls, so that if I decide to move/scale my room, the hidden cubes will move/scale with it?

    • @Hericus434
      @Hericus434 5 лет назад

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  5 лет назад

      Well yeah, you could simply select the two cutout objects first and then select the room, then hit Ctrl+P and select "Object (Keep Transform)"
      This will parent the cutouts to your room and they will scale, move and rotate along with your room object! 😄

    Hello! This is me from the future. It seems that this video, which is the first tutorial I've made with this style, has been getting a lot of attention recently. And there are a lot of people commenting about the pace. So I thought I'd add a pinned comment to take the responsibility- Yes, this video is really fast paced and not good for anyone who's looking for videos to follow through and recreate a scene. However, I do think that you can still get some valuable information in here which will help you to work on your versions of this scene or any other scene you might want to work on. Just watch the video all the way to the end, and then grasp the core ideas and workflows of making a scene like this.

      indeed, changing it to cycles did bring the portal option back.
      So it seems like a good practice to use eevee to model and cycles to render?

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  4 года назад +1

      It depends on whether you're going for realism or not. In my opinion, eevee being a realtime engine is better for quick previews of stuff that you're making to render in Cycles. It's also great for things which do not necessarily need to look 100% accurate to real life or photorealistic.

      This is sort of an intermediate video, so if you aren't fluent in using Blender and can't figure out what to press to get a certain thing done, it'd be hard for me to guide you. If you have a specific problem or confusion that you want me to clarify right here, I could help you with that! :)

    • @RenderRides

      Just add different materials on the objects and assign them to different faces. When you add a new material, it will have a principled shader for starters, so you can just change the base color to a color that you want.

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  4 года назад +1

      Make sure you have a solidify modifier on the room/wall model and that the boolean object, which in this case is the door, is thicker than the wall itself for it to create a hole.

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  4 года назад +1

      Try going to edit mode and recalculating the normals of the faces. They might be flipped, which is why the direction of the particles seem to be flipped as well. To recalculate the normals, select everything in edit mode and press Ctrl N. If this doesn't work automatically, then just expand the menu that appears and check where it says flip normals or something along that. That should fix the issue for you.

      Totally! Just export it as a .fbx file or some other file format that Unity supports. You might also need to make the materials in Unity- Blender materials can't be transferred directly.

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  4 года назад +1

      Go to Render Properties -> Film, and then turn on Transparent. This will give the background a checker type of texture. Then just export your render as a .png and then use an image manipulation software like Photoshop or Gimp and apply a solid color layer below this render to add any color to the background.
