Tonight, exactly 1 year ago as I type this, I saw Ride for the first time - never having the opportunity to see them since I first got into them in early 90s. With my former girlfriend, I went to what was actually our mutual first Ride gig: Tivoli theatre, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Australia, September 4th, 2019. It was everything I hoped - beautiful, powerful, and the band seemed very happy to be there. This was momentous for me, but so bittersweet - mostly sweet. The loss of her is hurting as much as ever. Needing a wall of noise to wash over me now....
We were a bunch of misfit, mad lads… circa 1992. Was the senior sargeant major of them all… We did some massive road trips, listening to Stone Roses, The Doors and Ride… Staying in caravans, cars and camps with plebs, who had no care in the world. 30 years on; I’m the only one who still does this on a regular basis. The rest have sold their soul to the funkery of Norm, and don’t care about the Way we changed the milieu. So be it. RIDE ON.
Their next album, Carnival of Light, was a bit overlooked compared to their first two albums. It was a bit poppy in a sense cause Shoegaze kinda gave way to Britpop. You had to transition into that or fade away into obscurity. By that album release, there were tensions growing between Andy Bell and Mark Gardner.
alas I have no cd player any more... so have to live on YT.... This is such a good album. I bought this when it came out and it's still fucking great :D
+Ester Samuels Blake Shelton did the song. It's basically the same chords and kind of tone as this song but slowed down, so I can't stop thinking of Twisterella when I hear it. Not really saying he stole it, but it keeps getting me.
Indie pop at it's finest.
One of the most upbeat, uplifting, joyous pop-rock songs I've ever heard. Ride are beyond amazing.
Much agreed! The lyrics are however a nice melancholic juxtaposition!
懐かしすぎて、未だにこの音楽に心動かされる自分にいい意味で死にそうに切なく悲しくあの時の青春とか思い出して戻りたいけど、もどったら地獄なんだけど、本当に良い思い出いっぱいあった、rideありがとう
awww the shoegaze years!
I love me some RIDE anytime!
Always and forever!

probably one of the best pop tracks of all time
+Total Egal It's not pop!!!!!!!!!!!! It's shoe gaze!!!!!!!! :D
+Ester Samuels I think Ride are britpop influenced by shoegaze, so both are pretty much correct
+Total Egal Agreeee !
@@roliletea They were lumped in with britpop, but are not britpop.
The genre is shoegaze, but this is a slice of pop.
I knew Andy Bell from Oasis but had never heard a single Ride song until I heard this... Seriously one of the best songs I've heard in my life.
I could never get sick of this song, it’s pop perfection.
If only they could have done an album of this poppy stuff. Would have been one of the greatest of all times.

love the end subtle vocals "Look at Twisterella, she hasn't got a fella"... great band!
For 60s British cinema fans, words & music by Fisher & Crabtree. ;-)
Back to the early 90's when Mark Goodier did the network chart countdown. Ride had a great following back then.
This is the stand out track for me.
...Tom Courtenay mentioning Twisterella in Billy Liar!
Taking me back again to happy times
One of the best indie bands around. Quality stuff.
Canção maravilhosa! Ride em momento lendário! Inesquecível!!!
Having this song come after Leave Them All Behind is such an amazing one-two punch, it almost defies description.
Lovely contrast
Bahahahaha , going 2014 and this song is like being fucken happy with a lot of ppl stoned , drinking , EVERYTHING IS STILL GOOD!
RedThebigOneInfantry I hope everything is still going good!!
2018 now damn
This is a great band to listen and get stoned to.
Such a great, beautiful song
Absolute indie dance CLASSIC
Marvellous, marvellous, marvellous !
This is the only ride track I remember of many playing in a uni students share house, sitting around a bucket bong in the early 90's.
Cannot wait to see them live in Glasgow in May. Gonna' be a cracking gig.
Hugely underated band
alas I have no cd player any more... so have to live on YT.... This is such a good album. I bought this when it came out and it's still fucking great :D
maybe their finest crafted tune. but I say the same thing with like a daydream, unfamiliar, taste, black night crash, mouse trap as well.
Ride, tá beasestest... GREAT BAND
Yeah, me too- It's great. And it all comes together in this song.
such an underated band :)
As soon as leave them all behind was done this was humming in my head seconds before it hit the track
one of my favorites
Brilliantly brilliant brilliance
This was just on our fave dj,
Any minute you will feel
The chemistry
Vibrations in the brain
Can't ever be explained
Slip away and out of sigh
Feel the magnet of a night
The circus lights you see
Is where you have to be
If I've seen it all before
Why's this bus taking me back again
If I don't need anymore
Why's this bus taking me back again
Feel the weight of letting go
Feel more lightness than you've ever known
You can't see when light`s so strong
You can't see when light is gone

Also, out of curiosity, what person is the cover art to this album based on, is it meant to be one of Ride's band members?
Are they using a guitar synth?
Cheerful.
Oops! Meant to say this song was just on our fave Dj's post. It's been a long time since I heard this!!!!
Ride / Camden Roundhouse 20.9.24
acid omg this was what it was like
Goood

Tinderella, tinderella
Exactly what I think of when I think "Britpop"
ザペギーズ
Este pop esta decente
corre Vanguart
This is not shoegaze, more a Happy Mondays or Stone Roses sound.
Listen to Leave Them All Behind, it's shoegaze. This song has more of a dreampop feel to it.
Matt Murdock Dreampop is more like it, it just sounds different than Slowdive.
Matt Murdock great song though.
Nowhere was Shoegaze tho
Blake Shelton stole this song for "Honey Bee"
+SimMaster
lol damn, that is pretty close too huh?
+SimMaster What band did "Honey Bee"?
+Ester Samuels Blake Shelton did the song. It's basically the same chords and kind of tone as this song but slowed down, so I can't stop thinking of Twisterella when I hear it. Not really saying he stole it, but it keeps getting me.
Ride stole it from Billy Liar
@@watermelonkang what song?

I love ride and I always skipped this song like nobody's business. You can't love them all.
