Yeah I just went and listened to every song they've put out and so far the summoning and vore are the only 2 I'd give a second listen to, maybe a couple others like chokehold and Atlantic but eh

@Road Less Traveled oh don't get me wrong, theyre a great band, but everyone has that one particular style that they love, and this strays a little outside that bubble for me. I'm definitely eager to hear the rest of the album

Before chokehold , the band had 250,000 rough spotify streams.... the summoning comes out - 1,900,000 streams.... now Vore- I'm calling 2,500,00 + in the next 2 weeks .

I am in love with this band. 2023 is the year of sleep token.
I really recommend the song Hypnosis by Sleep Token... or if you fancy it, Will Ramos did a vocal cover of it, which is also amazing.
Makes total sense. Vessels voice is so hypnotizing. Their music always takes me somewhere else. Some songs give me the sensation that I’m drowning, or can’t breathe, or make me feel like my chest is being crushed. But I also feel at peace when I listen to them. Like I’m falling into an endless abyss, and have no intentions of wanting it to stop.
I feel the exact same way. And it's so addictive. I can't get enough of them.

That has been the only way I can describe this music! Being trapped under the heaviest water, looking up at the light shining through the rippling surface. Needing to breathe, but can't swim up. It's so close but it's so far away, yet it's so cool and calming that you fight the need for air to keep feeling that peacefulness.
The sound of the verse vocals in here, that black metal vibe, makes me feel like I'm stranded deep in a forest in the pitch black of night and there's voices on the winds.
First time Vessel's vocals have ever sounded actually creepy and I'm all about it.

I am ready for the new Sleep Token album. Vessel's voice is so strong yet there is a pain or vulnerability to the way he sings clean. Worship.
His ability to turn vocal melody with his pitch and descending/ascending octaves is borderline unnatural. Some say he really is just a Vessel for Sleep to speak through. At times, like during the chorus to this song, I have trouble doubting that. Worship.

@Pineappl-e - Yeah that's just how it goes. I felt the same way about bands like Killswitch,LOG, Periphery,etc. I saw Linkin Park for 5 bucks at a club 6 month before they blew up. Just crazy.

I didn’t understand the filtered messy breakdown at the start of the song, but as the song went on it seemed to weirdly make sense. They have an incredibly unique way of making all the sections of the song to mold together while also leaving some ambiguity. It’s hard to put into words.

Lots of black gaze elements in this which jives exactly with how you describe it at the end. It's supposed to be very atmospheric, dreamy, ethereal, ambient etc. Killer track

Tbh, this isn't as heavy as The Summoning imo, nor is it more progressive. They're both amazing songs, but I'd argue the summoning takes the cake for both themes there.
I was never a metal head, but I fell in love with Sleep Token as soon as I heard their song Akaline. I have been binging them ever since.
I can feel the emotions in Vessel's voice and I feel like I am living vicariously through his pain, if that makes sense. It is always a nice ride when listening to their music~
Once you listen to the whole tracklist of Vore EP, you're in a whole emotional rollercoaster.
You should go back and listen to Calcutta, Nazareth, Thread the Needle, When the Bough Breaks and Jaws. Those songs are the beginnings of beauty.

II is def nasty.
The only other band that I've heard mixing heavy/harsh with shoegazy/melodic in such way is Deftones. The inspiration here is obvious, but Sleep Token have done stunning job at interpreting this style through their prism.

I worked as A&R (Talent scount) for Polydor records for three years and lost a lot of my love for music because things became too analytical but there were still occasional songs which wouldn't or couldn't be broken down and had to be 'consumed' whole. So yeah, I get exactly what you mean and it's an absolute pleasure when it happens. Fortunately, it's happening more and more (it's taken about 15 years to recover from 12 live bands a night and 30 demo tapes a day for three years)
