I love that Drumeo decided to go with a darker setting for II's performance/interview. Not only does it give into the whole mysterious aspect of II, but it really gives the performance a different tone along with II's playing.

Drumeo is great but I have a feeling II had some input on that decision as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was his idea entirely.
@@austinkoble More than likely he did, yeah. I'm not dismissing that it was his idea don't get me wrong, I just like that they went with this estetic because of the mysteriousness of II.

The drumeo vid is amazing, but so good to hear a drummer's view - looked amazing to me but I've only dabbled majnly being a guitarist- so thanks! I am a fairly new but firm Sleep Token fan now btw. And this vid gets you a subscribe from me - keep it up!
If you listen to him speak on 1.5x during the interview II actually sounds like hes talking at normal speed

Agreed, very musical. From repeated motifs for emphasis to follow the guitar riff, to be splashes and bell hits in and out of no fills, just beautiful work
First time hearing this drummer because of Drumeo. Amazing how II has jumped past all my favorites to the number 1 spot.

They are insane! If you ever have the chance to see them live do it! I saw them last year at Greenfield (biggest Swiss Metal Festival), they are awesome live!

Imo not the best, but no one truly is. There are some Drummers who are supreme in one field and some in others, I like to just see them all as "the best".

Nope, he sure is a beast and an amazing drummer, but he doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Elloy Casagrande, Alex Rudinger, El Estepario, etc.
@@empese1127 exactly. Not close to the best. Great drummer sure. The goat? Hell no. Eloy for example was the best in the world (that competed) at age 15 when he won international competitions and has drummed for sepultura since age 20, now he will be the new slipknot drummer. Mark my words.
Not a drummer, but love watching this sort of stuff. II is such a groovey drummer. I have a question that maybe the drummers out there can answer - when he plays the cymbals, he almost sweeps them instead of hitting them straight on, does this have a different sound and that's why he plays it like that, or is it just a cool drummer action?

Yeah man, this guy is incredible. So musical, groove-master, and his cymbal use and technique is so lovely. HUGE fan (in waist and taste).

I love this guy..so much flair and groove. Tons of energy. He's got his snare pretty high tuned. Almost like John Stanier from Helmet back in the day..comes through in the mix really well. Sleep Token's the full package. Globally the most relevant band I find.. brilliant!

The technicality of musicians these days is unreal across all instruments but most dont match the skilsl with the dynamics, feel, groove, where and where not to play, but this guys one of the few that has it all. Unbelievable!!
Super drumming by II, groovy and fills are insane, been following them since 2021 when Alkaline was released , soo much of creative changes and what a timeline is has been..love II FULLY DESERVE THE RECOGNICTION..from MALAYSIA!

Istanbul XIST series cymbals, i use meinl but i ordered a set of these XIST cymbals, been a huge of fan sleep token since there first album released, honestly i like the trashy sound of the dark cymbals way nicer contrast honestly

This is just unreal how good he really is. I’ve played drums now 21 years, on few different bands, multiple genres, seen alot. But this is just something else. I found Sleep Tokens music just few weeks ago, and im in love. Love from Finland, || 🤘🏼
Evey occasion to listen to Chokehold(Sleep Token in general ;)) is a good occasion and to see drummer's masterpiece performance only improves the experience :)

I had heard of Sleep Token, but I didn't become obsessed with them until I watched this video of 2. He's my favorite drummer right now. Still love Danny Carey, but 2's style is so refreshing and....different. The accuracy is just🤌
Great band. Take me back to Eden - Fantastic album. The Summoning and Chokehold are just two of the great songs of this album. Singer also got a great voice.

My VERY PERSONAL opinion is, if you are gonna go for the anonymous thing and wear costumes to be mysterious. You better be badass. I mean Dave Lombardo, Mike Portnoy, Louis Cole, Alex Rudinger or Sean Reinert badass. I have been trying to like Sleep Token but they aint doing it for me. And neither is this drummer. He is no better than a billion other great drummers. I am not dissing his abilities as a good drummer. But he aint mysterious in his playing. I would prefer an Eloy Casagrande type or something. Someone that can change it up a bit more and keep you guessing. Here, his beats and fills are pretty much predictable. But he is still a good drummer.
You should check out Devin Townsend Project - Higher.. There isnt a snare hit until like 2mins 20 into the track, and when that first rim shot comes in, sounds like a damn gunshot because its been absent.. And after that, he just has a party behind the drums!

II can write like a muthafcker. Sleep Token actually write really awesome and catchy tunes. I have seen a guy hit cymbals like this for a while though. It's like he is conducting and orchestra. Really knows how to get the sounds out the kit
My girlfriend I met a year ago got me into them, right away I understood the drummer was on a whole other level. Of course the singer is amazing, but I was trying to tell her that this drummer is what puts them over the top imo. Took her a while but she now 100% agrees.
I’m born in New Jersey but live in 🇵🇷for 15 years now never heard of this band it’s not my tast in music but if anything sounds good it’s the drums he’s got something different that’s for sure and style for miles!

His playing reminds me of Keith Moon in the way that Moonie used to wash across the cymbals as he accented through the song.
If you like these songs, you should watch The Summoning and Take Me Back To Eden. They’re the best songs on the album for sure!

You have insights I don't have so this was cool to watch it with you. I'm a huge Sleep Token fan though I'm more into the extreme side of metal so they are more like a genre indulgence for me. Incredible musicians it was cool as hell to get to hear from II.

El Estepario Siberiano did a partnership with Drumeo too. He has to be drummer of the year imo. II is close because his drumming is top notch and his band is the most influential this year.

I've never heard sleep token, but I'm very impressed. Dude, so clean man. He's super clean but uh. Yeah, definitely jam super control on everything that He plays and whatever kind of. Kind of Mike's here. He uses for Mike's super super clean good quality sound. Great sounding equipment
