@@brandonb.5304 Haven't seen them live yet (going in November) but at least in the audio recordings of their live performances it's really hard to even hear Vessel over IV.
From the calm and jazzy Acqua Regia to the the brutality of this shoegaze/blackgaze hybrid…like they were takin back that sense of security. This track hits you hard like the punch of the drummer’s double kick pedals! Love Vessel harsh vocals (without distortion they are even better when they play the song live, insane!) and the huge Deftones vibes.
Vessel can do the screaming live there are some videos of it, he does have some help from IV (guitar player) live but you can hear vessel scream live for sure brother. Great video!
it’s him doing the vocals and he’s amazing doing it live. IV chips in a bit live to give it layers. you’ll definitely have to check out some live videos in your free time! also that instrument you’re hearing isn’t guitar or keyboard. it’s a traditional chinese string instrument that I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called. and yeah those high notes in the background are also him. his range is ridiculous.
What sets him apart, as a male artist, is how he singing in cursive. We mainly see female artists do that: Billie Eilish, Halsey, Amy Winehouse, etc. I love the fluid highs and dips and turns so much.
Such a banger of a tune. I wasn’t a fan the first time I heard it but I love it. This and Gods are their heaviest ones I would say, obviously some of the others have heavy parts but these are heaviest. Vessel does all the vocals but live IV helps with the screams. 🖤
I now automatically click the like button before I've even watched the reaction. There's no question that I'm going to enjoy it! Vore is an erotic desire or sexual fantasy to be consumed or to consume another. So the fade out is appropriate here as though Vessel is being swallowed whole. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
Love your in depth and well-informed insights, especially on the production/musical side. I will say I think the thematic reason for the vocals being way back in the mix in some parts relates to the lyrics and title of the song. To simplify it a lot, "vore" is related to the idea of being swallowed whole or eaten, and there's several lines in the lyrics like that. So let's get swallooooowed whoooooole And yeah listening to this on some nice monitors with a sub is another experience 🤘🤘 A mix/DAW project break-down like Tim Henson does with some Polyphia songs would be sick
Ahh man I love this comment. I’ve never watched his DAW reactions, hell I didn’t know that was a thing! Now I need to look into that! I could totally get into that!
The drummer in this band is insane. Just saw them live and it was utterly goose bump incredible. It's a whole journey and no song sounds the same so you don't know what to expect next. They got a female choir as backup vocals.
Makes me laugh every time you try to put Sleep Token in a traditional box. Chorus? What's a chorus? Do you need a chorus? No, lol Great reactions! Keep up the good work.
Listening to this album on anything other than a physical copy does this album a disservice. I highly recommend purchasing it, it's almost like listening to it for the first time again.
There has been a lot of speculation about the picking instrument that sounds like mix between guitar and synth. Some say it’s a japanese style string instrument, the name of which I unfortunately can’t remember.
@@oldstonerun haha such a great reaction to it, too! It’s definitely Vessel doing the screaming, and this song was purposely mixed in the style of Black Metal, a hallmark of which is vocals tucked back in the mix. Different genres, but the concept is kind of like how Tool views Maynard’s voice as another instrument as opposed to the focus of the music. If any of that is info you’re already well aware of, just ignore me. I get too excited talking about music, especially theirs. 😁

He can do it live, I heard it with my own two ears :)
Love your Sleep Token content!

That’s awesome!! Thanks so much as well!
He doesn't really. IV does the heavy lifting on the live screams.
@@run4walk The high fry screams are Vessel. IV does the low growls. The two together sound huge live.

It's called a Koto and it's Japanese. But also this is done on a keyboard. Midi patch of a koto with reverb. Not an acctual koto.
This is my FAVORITE song, tingles every time 😊
It’s really good!
John Wick listens to this when takes out the trash

WORSHIP🙌🏻
It definitely sounds like a Japanese instrument in it, especially the "shamisen". The notes from it is especially distinct imo.
I love vore
I definitely want to see a II offering video for this song like they did for Hypnotize. Just him with his kit and the vocals stripped out.
Same
Surprise!!! He does perform this live with IV singing also sometimes on the harsh lyrics, I've watched all the live videos posted.
