On the album Vessel does all vocals, plays guitar, bass, piano, synths and production. II does drums. III and IV join them for live shows.
To be fair, on this album, the Carl (Carl Bown) was in charge of the production, engineering/mixing but I am pretty sure Vessel was heavily involved as well.
Tho III and IV have great energy and make the shows pop. III's dancing and spinning alone. Between him and Vessel's happy hoppy hare dances...

I'm so enamored with Vessel's voice I can't stop listening to him. His screams during live performances are just 🤌😩
Sleep Token, Unprocessed, and Polyphia restored my faith in music, and I found all of them through each other. It was like, "If you like Polyphia then you're going to love Unprocessed", "If you like Unprocessed then you're going to love Sleep Token". I'm a 51 year old black guy and these 3 bands incorporate everything I grew up listening to despite my unique taste in music for my race at the time. I've never been so hopeful for the future of music. I found Sleep Token about 8 months before they dropped the first single to the new album, so glad they blew up!

edit: this is why context is such an important aspect to life. in ST’s discography especially. if you’re a long time fan of them, that last section is fucking bonkers. BUT if you’re a completely new fan, the last section is JUST as fucking bonkers. it was almost like listening to ST and falling in love with them all over again after hearing this song.
to listen them is one experience, but as a musician myself, I can’t help but be jealous and wish so badly that I could play music with these guys. II (a genius in his own right) is a lucky drummer to be able to share a room and stages with the genius that is Vessel 😭👏🏼

Sleep Token has already opened shows for Babymetal... I think that's where the inspiration for making musical salads comes from, Babymetal does that a lot, like releasing 1920s jazz in the middle of progressive metal... It does feeling their boldness, I always say those Babymetal producers are crazy...

Duuuude, I’m psyched you paused so much! Like I mentioned before, your insight is outstanding and you’ve quickly become a favorite watch. Anyway, I spent forever trying to figure out how to count this. The opening sequence can be counted as two 6’s and one 4 repeated. Once the verse starts, believe it or not, it goes to 4/4. It sounds like a wacky time signature and I tried everything until I counted it in 4 out of pure frustration. Imagine my surprise. The drummer is modulating like a mofo and moving the 1 but the time signature never leaves 4/4. Absolutely nuts. Oh, and it is the same guy singing and screaming. Also absolutely nuts.

This band reunited my love for music. Grew up on, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, The Rolling Stones, Alice in Chains, Lynyrd Skynyrd, anything 90s and back I jammed too. Hip-hop rarely does it for me, i love classic country, but the new stuff is garbage, and outside of a few metal bands rock music is horrible these days. Then my sister showed me The Summoning. I was immediately blown away, started listening to the entire album, amd felt like i was flying. Went back to their first and second album and love every song from every album. Im a Sleep Token addict.
I love the reactions to sleep token. They are a mystery through and through and i absolutely love it. Don’t SLEEP on their previous two other albums. You have so much content to go through with them. Enjoy and I’ll be along for the ride. When they preform live they replace the pads with three beautiful singers called vesselettes. Live they are on just another level. Your breakdowns are amazing and show just how amazing this band is. Thank you and much love from Boston

There is a live version of this song that has the drummer (II) doing a drum solo throughout the middle section leading into the last section. I recommend it for your own enjoyment.

Love the sleep token reactions so far. I appreciate react channels that can dig deep into the music as opposed to just making faces so you earned my sub.
Also vessel is credited with everything on the albums but drums which II handles. Every sound you hear aside from drums, every vocal is vessel. He has a hand in the production as well. It’s incredible this band is essentially one super talented guy and a crazy good drummer. The bassist and guitarist are touring members for live shows.

I love this reaction and breakdown. Awesome channel and knowledge. Chokehold is my personal favorite from this album. Another band with similar prog elements, electronic, djenty, etc is VOLA if you haven’t listened already. I’d check out Witness, their last album and work backwards.

Vessel does all of the screams on the recorded track but live 4 the guitarist does the screams. You should check out how good Vessel is on Bloodsport from the room below, just him and a piano and also 2s drum playthrough on the Hypnosis track. Then plough ahead with Acseionism. You thought the summoning was wild, and you'll have a complete meltdown on this one😂

if you want to check out II the drummer's ability there is a playthrough of a couple songs on the last album they posted of him on the drums and it's incredible strongly recommend checking it out.
I definitely have to check out these drum playthroughs!
If you're gonna do any more from the latest album may I recommend the closure Euclid as it's just an incredible piece of music (even more so if you're are familiar with their back catalogue) and a perfect album ending, or Are You Really OK? The reason I suggest the latter is because unlike the majority of this album it's a relatively straight forward and simple song, but yet it's still brilliant. Highly emotional lyrics, minimal vocal effects, finger picking, it's one of their most straight forward songs but yet it works.

The piano plays such an important part in this track. Production wise also very smart: it sounds like it's in the background but the volume of the piano parts really isn't that low.

@@oldstonerun There is a live video of Vessel (that's the singer's stage name) and piano. Track is called Blood Sport (from the room below) and recorded live during a intimate gig. So no wide ambiances, mixes, synth, and so on. Just a man and his piano :)

Also the vocals in the last part fallow the Guitar/keys almost the entire time its played, then when they started with the last half tawords the end when the sound became more full, the 'Choir' has an ambiance added to there sound, to make the sound more full

Some of Vessel's vocal reverb is him kinda forcing his natural British accent through his vocals.
I've heard that British singers actually have to force their native accents into their vocals since otherwise they sound American (the Brits tend to clip their vowels when speaking, while Americans stretch theirs). It's why we Americans are surprised when we find out a singer is British.
Those stretched vowels are a hallmark of American English in general, but they are also a hallmark of singing in English, especially by a native English speaker.

i really like your reaction videos, so many times with others it feels you wait for 4 minutes of story before they even start to play the song, but you just get right into it, love it! so happy you're liking sleep token, i found them just before they started releasing the singles like this one and instantly fell in love! i just wanted to give a recommendation of maybe going the other way round with the webcam, keeping it fullscreen and putting the video in the corner, your visual reactions are so much more important than the music video! end up with my face against the screen in that little corner haha
