Congrats on the video, doing the oil change on my frontier this week. I appreciate the video, unlike most people who just complain yet watch the video .
I appreciate your reply and comment so much! I am clearly not a professional and some people tend to not take that into account before commenting, I honestly don't even reply to the ones that talk about the littlest of things that I did not cover. I swear some people might add that to mention you need to breathe while replacing the oil lmao. Again I appreciate your comment and I hope your oil change goes smoothly!
There are some mixed reviews on whether it has to be done each time. I will probably order a bunch of extras so that I can do it next time. I just didn't have one on me at the time and it is my wifes truck and she had to get to work soon. I appreciate your comment and watch! :)
For what it’s worth I have changed the oil in many different vehicles and pieces of equipment and I never fill the oil filter with oil before installing and have never had an engine problem. In short it’s not necessary.
I appreciate your comment! I've had a few different vehicles and have never had to prefill the oil filter as well, but when I looked up another video on how to do it for this one they had recommended it so I just went ahead and did it. I probably will skip it in the future as it is a pain to prefill and manage not to spill it onto myself in the reattaching process. Thanks again for the watch and comment! :)
Thank you for the watch and comment! it can be confusing going from imperial to american quarts. Always hate how america has to be different when it comes to measurements!
Not the worse instructions but by far, not anywhere near the best. Crush washer is required every time the oil pan drain plug is installed. Never explained how to reach in and remove and install the filter. Installing the skid plate oil filter plate and then checking for an oil leak is ludicrous. After drain plug and washer are installed and torqued to 25 ft-lbs, you then need to wipe the oil filter location surface clean with a rag, then screw in filter...hand tight.... and then clean up the oil on the inside of the skid plate. Then fill up the oil, run the engine, and THEN check for an oil leak from the filter and the drain plug. If that cover is place it hides the filter and oil could drip onto the skid plate and not be immediately known.
By no means am I a professional, just wanted to make a quick video for people that want to change their oil. I also referenced the best video that I used to help me in my bio. I have seen mixed reviews about the crush washer needing to be replaced. I do understand the importance but I have a few buddies that are mechanics at nissan and say that they rarely do it. As for the torqued ft pounds, I referenced another video that gave me the one that I used. I will have to look up the correct one for the future. I didn't include every little step in my process since my phone while replacing the oil filter itself. Nonetheless I appreciate your critiquing and appreicate the engagement of watching and commenting! I hope you have a wonderful day :)
I have realized that now after several comments. Next time I will take it into account by skipping the prefill or just filling with 5 quarts instead of the 5.3 to include the prefilled filter. Thanks for the comment and watch! :)
I appreciate and respect you making this video, you may want to wear nitrile gloves next time. Used synthetic oil could be a carcinogen so protect yourself. An inexpensive set of ramps would also help you a great deal next time you do the oil.
I usually wear gloves but had a tough time trying to record and change my oil. I have a whole box of nitrile gloves usually for this purpose. I have a set of rhino ramps but noticed that they aren't rated for the weight of this truck and I didn't want to risk being under it and something happening. I appreciate your comment and support of the video! :)
So do review on the likes and dislikes of your truck as I'm interested in switching from Toyota tacoma to Nissan frontier. I don't like how Toyota is getting rid of the V6.
I’ve owned 3 Tacomas and now own a Pro X Frontier. The frontier is much better looking and not as common as the Tacoma. The Tacoma you see it everywhere
@thewiseguy7100 Personally, I like the reliability on the Toyota brand as I use to be a Ford guy but didn't like the issue with their transmissions, so I went with Toyota and been really happy but now I'm hearing that's not the case anymore so looking for an alternative which the Nissan truck looks amazing.
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that, if it is still under warranty I would reccomend taking it in and not even bother with the customer service. They have to fix it if it is under warranty. I had an issue with my automatic lights staying on all the time. I took it in and they found the sensor was unplugged during an inspection, and they fixed it for free under my warranty. Again I am so sorry that is happening, i can't image how frustrating that might be :(
I am working on a likes and dislikes video as we speak! As well as a video showing differences between the Pro-X version (shown in this video) & the SV version that I just bought. Looking to post it soon! Personally I have driven many Tacoma's while being an inventory photographer for dealerships and I never liked how stiff they were. They are extremely reliable but I can't get over the uncomfortablility factor and the toyota tax on it. New Tacoma TRD Pro are going for close to 60K...meanwhile you can get a Pro4x for around 50k

👍 Not sure if you have to do it every time, but there is a copper crush washer on the drain plug that may need changing.
You should.

@@DoriiMariie yeah, and jn vehicles with the cartridge style filters it’s not even possible to fill it.
Whoops, my mistake. It is 5.3 quarts. I was looking at the Euro (imperial) quarts 4.3 . You are 100% correct and my earlier post was wrong.

5.3 includes the filter you prefilled the filter so you put in a little over

Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
According to Nissan, it takes 4.3 quarts, you added 😊5.3 qts.
You’re wrong, it takes 5.3 quarts. Stop misinforming
@@thewiseguy7100 if you read the post ass wipe, I corrected that statement. It’s 4.3 imperial quarts. 5.3 American quarts . Get a life🤦🏻♂️

Don't do it 17770 miles my seat belt alarm will not shut up, filed complaint nissan customer service does not exist!

I recommend changing every 5-7k if you want to keep truck 150k plus miles. Will make sure your engine lasts a long time
Correct. Nissan recommends every 11k km in Canada. No way am I waiting that long.
On my 2023 16k miles imma change it every 4500 miles with royal purple
The owner’s manual says 7,500 miles for normal use, 5,000 for severe use. Most people fall under the 7,500 recommendation.
@@Commentleaver-c6x some reason mine has 16k miles on it but only when I cold start it it has a loud lifter tap for 10 seconds is that normal?
@@kamryn7496 from what I’ve read it’s normal for direct injection engines. It’s the injectors making the noise.
