Which is your favourite of the 3 Pikmin games? I always loved the first one apart from the time limit but honestly can't pick a favourite between them - such a great series! Glen
I can't choose. They all have such strong points. The allure of 2's more explorative focus and plethora of creatures was the bonus for me.
For me I think 2, there were some unique features and caves, but one has some traits that were lost and that first experience.
This deluxe version of the 3rd game is amazing with plenty to do and some cool side modes, definitely my favourite. Pikmin 1 tho, diving into it on that first playthrough was just such a good adventure.
Being able to play the entire game in Co-op has cemented this entry as the favorite in my house. It's such a great franchise.

Ultra-Spicy Mode is cool, I guess, but the ultimate challenge for me is not crying every time one of my Pikmin dies.
As someone who never owned a wii u, this port was more than worth the price for me as im a huge pikmin fan.

From what I can gather, Nintendo are very good at selling you the same game again. However, My first Nintendo console was the Wii and when I moved to WiiU there were a number of titles that they let me buy again, but at a reduced rate due to me buying it from them on the Wii Store.
@@lawrence703 Steam does something similar when a remastered version of a game already own replaces it. You are given a 50% discount.
Same!! I loved my Wii U and honestly I still can’t believe how much of a flop it was. Poor advertising. Im talking years after I bought it, people were always amazed whenever they seen it. They had no idea it existed. Not to mention I spent a ton of money on downloads for the old school Nintendo games for it. Nintendo screwed us with that whole console for real for real
Purchased the physical copy instantly. Never owned a wiiUso was chuffed with the port. The demo was a wonderful reminder of all things Pikmin that I loved from my GameCube days. Hoping it’s well received so we can see another one in the series. Another great review 👌

I played the original for maybe 2 hours and never bothered again, but damn this looks so good I gotta buy
The first one feels so "beta" compared to the 2nd one, sadly the 2 one is easily the hardest and longest one campaign wise. They eased up on the 3rd one a lot.
I'd like to mention that WALL-E was a pixar film made before disney bought them. Credit where credit is due. (it's my opinion that pixar post disney has degraded in quality)

If you like exploring and collecting, with some puzzle work too, it’s as simple as that. Add on top of it creature management and combat
I highly recommend you buy an old GameCube and get a copy of pikmin 1 and 2 off eBay and give them a shot, I have spent countless days into this series, it’s definitely workout for your brain
My copy didn't arrive today (well, relesse day) but the demo has meant i still had some Pikmin3 goodness - with progress which can be carried over to the purchased version.
Not a big fan of RTS usually, but this is a thing of beauty and magic, a game that only Nintendo could make work.
Maybe they were out of copies(which is good)

Can't say I've ever been a fan of Pikmin, and I'm an even lesser fan of Nintendo repackaging these old games, slapping Deluxe on the box, and selling them at these outrageous prices....
That being said, I liked this review, even if it hasn't changed my mind about the game....
I dint mind them reselling games from Wii U. The problem is that they usually make the price way higher than the original.

I never really stuck with the first game on the GameCube, and never owned a Wii U so had never played this. So this got a pre order with a game voucher within a few minutes of trying the demo. Really enjoying it so far, and it holds up really well by today’s standards.
Kind of surprised by this one. Really didn't think I would enjoy it, buts it's actually not bad. I don't really care for the time limit though. Rather just explore, solve puzzles and fight bosses at a lesurely pace. Played the demo, but may skip it. I did however pre-order Age of Calamity. That game is amazing. Bit on the easy side so far though. Already level 14-15 and overpowered for the first two missions and side quests.
This game is so charming and addicting! My first ever pikmin playthrough. Never have played with gyro controls tho will try that later. 👍👍

I loved this on the Wii U, but it doesn't sound like there's enough there to get at full price just yet. We need Pikmin 4, though, so I hope a lot of people pick this one up!

At least it’s 10.00 cheaper @49.99 at Walmart. I agree that all ports should not be full price.... I would like to see ports at 39 or less.

@@adrii7186 😅 yeah you're right. No doubt Nintendo will wait almost a year for a 30% price drop and it'll still be too expensive. But i have over 800 games on my switch, i got plenty of options to keep me busy while i wait for the drop

After putting ten hours into the demo, I knew this was going to be absolutely breathtaking, as was the original.
Never played a pikmin game. Now I wish I had found this franchise years ago.
I loved this game for the wiiu one of my all time favorites, I hope they go all out and make pikmin 4.

I'm a couple hours in and I can already say my biggest challenge with this game are the controls and "memory muscle"...
Pikmin 1 and 2 are two of my favourite Gamecube games, but I never owned or played the remakes on Wii or the original Pikmin 3 on Wii U. So with P3Deluxe, I keep pressing a button that used to do one thing on the first two games, but does something completely different now. Even though the game is coaching me the controls as I go, I keep going back to how I USED to play it, and need to learn how to play it NOW.
Case in point - last night, I had a group of Rock Pikmin that I needed to disband. Instinctively, I pressed the X button thinking that would disband my Pik-crew into little groups like it did on the Gamecube games. Instead, pressing X charged my army of Rock Pikmin into a lake!! :O(
I'm doing that a lot too. I keep pressing ZR to whistle but it's now assigned to B. Glen

I’ve never been much of a video gamer but I got the Nintendo switch recently and I tried the demo and really liked it.
Hi switchup, i think your review system is great, but would benefit from an extra graphic for the scores. such as 14/20 with an animated piechart behind it. it better conveys the value of 14/20 more quickly
Looking forward to add this to my collection but again for that price I wish it would have come with 1 and 2 in the package, specially this being a port.
I took an edible and emerged myself into da PIKMIN world 🌎 10/10. Great "high" gameplay :)
I don't know why I'm watching reviews. I already know deep down that I'm buying this game no matter what since I loved part 1 and 2. I guess I'm watching this just to get excited to play it. 🙂
If you didn't play the Wii U version with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, then honestly, you missed out on the superior way to play Pikmin!

What I Love most about pikmin is because it proves Switch games with photorealistic graphics can be done

It’s been nearly 20 years since I’ve played the first Pikmin. Might play the first two as a refresh before picking this up. Hopefully it’ll be cheaper on eBay by then.

I tried the demo and, unfortunately, it didn't click. It's fun and really beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it's not "speaking" to me.
Maybe I'm just too hyped for Age of Calamity,but I'll wait for a sale.

I think if these games didn't have the time limit and had a bit more exploration i would love them i like the series but it feels so close to perfection like its just missing 1 thing i can't think of
got this on my wii u but switch price is too high for a game i already played. maybe i buy when launch price is half one day.

Great review Glen, so basically it’s the same game from the Wii U..it not enough there to me rebuy this game again.. adding co-op without online is useless it’s a pandemic going on and changing a few mechanics to run it on the switch okay.. yea I’ll pass on this one I’ll wait for pikmin4.. 😁

Always played friends copies to try it out but never owned it myself. Might finally break down and get a game for myself. Always looked cute but I've never been great at RTS games.
It's the most accessible RTS I've ever played. My wife loves the Pikmin games and she wouldn't dream of playing a game such as an RTS usually. Glen
I feel like Nintendo could of made Pikmin a bigger release if they remastered/released the first two in a triology as well. Even marketing a Pikmin Themed Switch would have drove collectors to buy one. I would have spent money so fast even after buying an AC switch back in March. 2 was my favorite. Imagine having all 3 portable. Missed opportunity imo
But I understand 2 spring/green theme switches in 1 year doesn't make sense. Maybe they'll drip something with P4.

I just bought a wii u for really cheap, so I might get this game for that (also a fraction of the price). Really I wanted it just for wind waker, though that might be ported to the switch next year.

@@nctrnlmjsty798 i still love my wiiu. N64 vc shop games, snes, gba, games still great. Also, windwaker hd twilight princess hd, metroid prime trilogy, super mario galaxy 2 etc via the back compat of wii games that are playable in wiiu.
Then, youve got games like pikmin 3 dirt cheap. Still a fantastic console!

@@nctrnlmjsty798 It's a great emulation machine when hacked. It is basically the best way to play a majority of nintendo games on one system for very cheap. It will run wii and gamecube natively if you install nintendont and can even use the game cube controller.
This is great, the gyro controls are awesome I've been playing split joycons its like using a wii mote basically. I think its worth the price.

This game is fucking perfect and it’s worth it. Everything from the first game is perfect. I’d love a Pikmin 4 where you have to collect fruit *and treasure* (and ship parts too) at the same pace and it’d be perfect.

The 3DS one is a spinoff 2D side scroller. Its mediocre at best and plays nothing like the other games.
The is a definite pickup in a future sale💙✌

I usually try to keep them alive when necessary but when it is the end of the day and the last 2 to 6 still haven't returned I just end it if I got everything done.

I love the pickmin series. BUT THERE IS ONE missing major flaw with it. NO ONLINE CAMPAIGN CO-OP. Pickmin is such a perfect fit for it. I'M crossing my fingers Nintendo knows this which is why P4 has been put on hold. PK 1/2 is my favourite,far to much to control 3 main characters at a timetime in PK3.
Please release 1 and 2 on switch! For the Love of God Nintendo!!!
Always been interested in trying one of these out. But any Switch port for 60 bucks (especially with the scum Nintendo tactics of taking off the cheaper WiiU version off the eShop) is a NOPE for me. Gonna wait for a sale or pick up a second hand copy.
I have the Wii U version. Is this version substantially better on the Switch? I only have a Lite if that helps.

I wouldn't say it was substantially better. The DLC is included, there are a few other quality of life tweaks plus the inclusion of co-op. If you are playing on the Switch lite, the co-op is still possible as long as you have extra joy cons/controllers but its not ideal. Glen

What are the differences between the captains ?
There aren't any. You will just need more than one at times. For example, you may throw one of them up onto a ledge, throw them some Pikmin and then control them to explore further. Glen
I played the demo, liked it and was thinking about buying it. But man, those NIntendo games are so expensive, even the physical is still almost 60€. No, I'm not paying this, especially with those really great games on sale, some even AAA like Ni no kuni or Alien isolation, at the moment for so much less money. And don't look at the prices on PC Stores like Steam, Epic and Gog for good games there. Bought Hades there for ~5€ instead of 25€ on the switch, it does even run on a shitty laptop with Intel HD grafics without any problems.
Is anyone getting some latency in there controls? The only game I get it in. The game will sense my direction, but not my actual movement,making me freeze in my place for a second.
....This would be worth it for Wii u owners if they added some New real game additional/ DLC expansion...And of course pikmin 4 would be nice....

Only beef I have with the deluxe version is no online multiplayer.

I bought this because I wanted to play co-op with my girlfriend, if it wasn’t for co-op, I wouldn’t have bought it.
I can't believe how short the story is, I've finished it in about 6 hours on my first playthrough today, I got exactly half the fruits and lost over 150 Pikmin along the way because I was expecting it to be much longer and resetting each day 10 times did not seem interesting to me. I'm still very glad I picked it up, wish it had been a bit cheaper, especially since I also bought it for Wii U, but never finished it mainly because I hated the controls. I'm planning on playing it coop with my friend to grab all the fruits.
Its because they designed the game to be played multiple times. They also specificaly designed it with speedrunning in mind.

I actually bought a Wii U so I can play this and other games that Nintendo just were WAAAY too slow to port over! I bought said games, and a year after that, those said games were announced to come over... Nintendo, why do you torture me so? I can still play Wii games, but how long can I say that for? And they know I'll by them all over again. The bastards!💢
