Yeah 2-4TB ssd/nvme is the way to go for gaming. With video editing probably want dual or tri 8 TB ssd/nvme. That will be very expensive. So maybe a 14 TB 7200 hdd.

Right, after a one month research I ended up buying the x670e-f (I wanted the -a but incredibly it was more expensive than the black version, which seems to be unusual). Besides the e-e being way more expensive, featuring a USB4 port seems to use those lanes that affect how PCIEX16 buses work, together with the M2's. The e-f version, like the e-a, doesn't have a USB4 port. Instead, it provides 3 USBC 3.2 at 20Gbps, theoretically non-Thunderbolt. And according to the manual, installing M2 storage to all four M2 slots won't affect how SATA ports or PCIEX16 buses work. So I guess it depends on what the user needs but regarding storage there's no worries about reducing speeds or whatever. Thanks for this great review! edit: just found out I mistakenly mentioned USB 4, not that at all. the E-E has 3 M2 pci-e 5.0 and 2 pciex16 5.0, that's why they share lanes. The E-F has 2 M2 pci-e 5.0 and 2 4.0, one pciex16 5.0 and the other is 4.0, which frees up lanes for the m2 nvme's
So if I don't want to half my GPU lane, don't populate the M.2_3 slot but I can populate the rest with out halving my gpu lane or did I misunderstand something?
Basically, all 4 m.2 slots have to have a drive in them for the halving to take place apparently. Even then you’re talking 6-10 fps loss. Not a big deal
I built my newest system with basically no budget cap, but I decided to go with the B650 version of this board. Great breakdown. However, are you saying to keep the two bottom M.2 ports empty? Because you said the bottom left port 3 is especially problematic and they go straight into explaining why the bottom right port 2 can cause issues also. What's the point of adding these two M.2 slots if its gonna cut GPU in half? Seems very odd.
Can you tell whether the AK620 air cooler would fit this board? (Or the the Z790-E Intel equivalent) My concern is precisely that PCI-E 5.0 M;2 heat shield you just showed in this video. Both boards have it. Just as some info: I contacted Noctua and they assured me the NH-D15S DOES fit. But Deepcool Support didn´t provide a satisfactory yes or no answer.
When installing a single NVMe M.2 into an SSD enclosure, is it necessary to remove the sticky seals for all drive enclosures. Or just the one you plan to use. (Sorry if this is a dumb question)
Do you have any problems with the Ethernet-Controller I225-V? I prefere ASUS for a new build but iam a little bit scary about this controller. There a lot of problems in some Forums
So as per the manual, if I use m.2_3 along with m.2_1 and m.1_2 the pcie_1 goes to 8 lanes. What if I use m.2_1, m.2_2, and m.2_4? Will my pcie_1 be 8 or 16?
Can you please tell as I'm looking to get this board. Have you found it stable? No SoC voltage overheating on CPU? Intel Ethernet issues? RAM issues? I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Cheers
Start button is the same as the power switch from the case. It allows the use of the motherboard without being in a case. The drivers get installed via the web instead of using a cd coaster.
Getting this board along with a 4090 and a 2TB Wd Black SN850x. Want to put the 850x in a slot that goes straight to the CPU of course for best performance, but don't want to rob the 4090 of any of its 16 lanes. Which M.2 slot should I use on this motherboard to accomplish this? Also, would the Corsair h150i elite cappelix CPU cooler install the same way as your 170 in this video?
Seriously I have always wondered, what % of users need to populate any more than 1 PCIe slot? Sound cards are like a 1990s thing (remember Sound Blaster cards?) you already have like 4 M.2 slots on a decent board, 4 TB a drive (can be 8 but not trying to go super expensive) that's 16 TB, like how much storage can you possibly need?
I've got a m-atx x99 board with 2 graphics cards and a 10gb nic. What I can't understand is wtf do you need 4 m.2 ports for. Would much rather have pcie. You can always get a pcie to m.2 adapter if you need more. Some people do things other than playing games on their machines.
So Asus tells us - here ya go, 2 gen 5 nvme drives..and look, two more gen 4! But if you use them all then your GPU will run half a fast. Dude that's a bit of shite innit?
That board is a Horrible value at $480 today. To spend that money and run a 3060ti is a completely upside build. $150 Gigabyte B650M DS3H would do all that and take $300 to the GPU. In 3 years time, Gen 5 stuff might be relevant and totally unnecessary for Gaming and only relevant to productivity. I hope you got the board as a tester.

@hostile_1866 Did switching to the carbon get rid of the coil whine? I am asking because I recently bought a x650e-f and seem to be having the same coil whine.
Can i put 2 Gen5 m.2 and the other 2 slots with 2 gen4 m.2?
Can't decide between this board, or the Gigabyte B650e, or Gigabyte x670e. What would you pick and why?
Are both EP power connecters required to be connected?
Yes
@@TheProvokedPrawn Oh man. I'm gonna need a splitter.
Thanks!!!
Welcome!
for anyone who has this motherboard, are you able to download windows 11 with this motherboard? in the process of building my first pc and i just want to be sure i get the right parts.
YES
Hi,
I have the same motherboard but with
ryzen 9 7950x3d
Trident z 32g cl30, expo 1
Every time I turn on the pc, I got code 15, and then it boots to windows, everything run normally without any issues.
The booting time takes about 30-45 seconds.
Is that normal, or is there something wrong with the memory?
i also have 7950x3d and have the Crosshair Hero, i think thats fine. Just memory training everytime u boot.
this is BIOS error ... try updating your bios to the latest
Hi, are you still using this setup? I'm thinking about buying this motherboard with the same configuration as yours, but I'm concerned about potential boot issues or stuttering in games.
Awesome motherboard
Finished installing this board all went well having little issue with LAN port. I updated the bios but still not getting any internet from the LAN port. Thoughts?
Let me know if you figure this out 😅
@@jagerfighter.read somewhere you have to download a driver for it, I hope not because i plan on buying this today
@jagerfighter. You need to dl.the driver. I had the same issue. Once i manually.dl the driver and update, it works
So if i installed 2 Gen 5 m.2, it would reduce the performance of my GPU?

Thank you for the explanation 👍
So if you use every m.2 slot apart from the third one all the pcie lanes will stay at X16 ???
It doesn't really matter ruclips.net/video/CT55vgeuhPo/видео.html
@TheProvokedPrawn was it only using the third m.2 slot that halves the pcie lanes ?
Like can I use the 1st, 2nd and 4th slot and still have the lanes at X16 ?
If I install 420 radiators on the top, can I install 140 fans on the back?
Ok so if anyone can help me that would be great! I'm looking to get this board along with the Ryzen 7 7800x3d and I'm seeing issues that can be solved with a BIOS update before using my CPU. Just trying to figure out how I can go about that and avoid blowing up CPU.
Those issues with Asus are long resolved. Just make sure to update your bios and you're fine.
Which slot do you use for the boot drive? M.2_1?
Has anyone else had problems with overclocking this board DOCP.
wait, so I'm confused, which M.2 slot will halve the PCIe lanes?
looks good the board
The gen 5 SSD cards I plan to buy, already have a large heat shield attached. That means I won't be able to attach the heat shields that came with the motherboard correct?
Yes but that's fine.
Only Asus could charge you extra for cutting your GPU bandwidth in half if you want to populate all of your M.2 slots.
i let nzxt build this into my desktop. i bought 3 samsung 990 pros. I hope they put those in the right slots! anyone know a quick easy way to tell how many lanes my gpu is using?
I love the intro comments
SECOND that 😢
Hello, I wanted to buy these two motherboard models and There is a processor AMD 7800X3D
ROG STRIX X670E-A
ROG STRIX X670E-F
What is your suggestion?
I can’t understand, at the beginning of my assembly, I did the same put in the first slot gen 5 and fourth gen 4 one is 512 gb second 2 tb KC3000 after i tried to replace to another slots like a 3and 4 my mobo is x670e-f cpu 7800x3d gpu 7900xtx sapphire psu be quite dark power 12 850 watt cooler noctua nh-d15, after flashing bios windows etc i checked my gpu-z and what i see PCIe x16 4.0 @ x8 4.0 what i need to do for my gpu can run x16 not x8? for check my gpu i tried to put my rx 5700 xt and same thing… so what wrong with my assembly? my first pc assembly without 1 issue all was clear and working good. this is my first and last asus motherboard i always building with gigabyte.

Which screwdriver for M2 slots? I have regular one. 😂 Help! Thanks
Can it handle 128 gb of ddr5 ram?
This motherboard is in good combo with Ryzen R9 7950x3D?
When installing a single NVMe M.2 into an SSD enclosure, is it necessary to remove the sticky seals for all drive enclosures. Or just the one you plan to use. (Sorry if this is a dumb question)
Just the one you're using should be fine.
I have an gen 3 ssd where should I place it
m.2_4
Did you have to flash your BIOS before the first post?
So the third one does not share the lanes with the top 2 correct?
Honestly noticed 0 difference when running my 4090 on x8, with all my pcie lanes filled, will eventually get a 4tb ssd and leave slot 3 empty tho.
Do you have any problems with the Ethernet-Controller I225-V? I prefere ASUS for a new build but iam a little bit scary about this controller. There a lot of problems in some Forums

Have you tried SignalRGB
Does this motherboard support ddr5 6000 mhz ram?
hi,i wanted to ask you if something would happen if you put 1 gen5 ssd and the rest 4 gen4 ssd
So as per the manual, if I use m.2_3 along with m.2_1 and m.1_2 the pcie_1 goes to 8 lanes. What if I use m.2_1, m.2_2, and m.2_4? Will my pcie_1 be 8 or 16?
should run at 16.
@@Zellha "Should" is the keyword here. I tried and got 8. That m.2 v4 put me two under 16. and 1 and two was -3.
@@GreggRoberts thats strange, i have recently got 3 samsung 990 pros and installed it on slot 1,2 and 4 and my GPU on pcie_1 is running at 16 lanes
Are you required to run both 8 pin cpu connectors?
If you're getting this motherboard, you better be using both...
Can you please tell as I'm looking to get this board. Have you found it stable? No SoC voltage overheating on CPU? Intel Ethernet issues? RAM issues? I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Cheers
I am not using it as a daily driver, but I've not had problems with it either. I would recommend doing the BIOS updates though

What’s the difference between the E, F, H etc versions?
H is the cheapest version with cut down features , such as less m.2 etc

And What is the start button used for on the mother board?

Start button is the same as the power switch from the case. It allows the use of the motherboard without being in a case. The drivers get installed via the web instead of using a cd coaster.

Getting this board along with a 4090 and a 2TB Wd Black SN850x. Want to put the 850x in a slot that goes straight to the CPU of course for best performance, but don't want to rob the 4090 of any of its 16 lanes. Which M.2 slot should I use on this motherboard to accomplish this?
Also, would the Corsair h150i elite cappelix CPU cooler install the same way as your 170 in this video?
i'm currently getting the exact same setup😂
@@juanpineda1446 Nice! :) I just started my build yesterday with these components.
M2.2. It's in the manual.
Lots. I use one for games, one for video files, one for gameplay recording and one for Windows
Dude that's a bit of shite innit?
it doesn't really matter ruclips.net/video/CT55vgeuhPo/видео.html
@@TheProvokedPrawn I get it. i think you mentioned that video in this one, so thanks for that link. Thanks again!
Yes I did and that's also not my main GPU or my main build 😉
6700xt would be a better than that 3060ti and would be between 50-80 dollars cheaper while being more powerful
