- Wanted to share my very first book of shadows! It took me a long time to be willing to start, as it can be overwhelming. I'm happy with my growth in this book, and maybe it can help you to start yours!

This is a great example that speaks to me. Usually all you find online are the printable ones and this is very personal.

I absolutely love your book. I love how it is all your own drawing & writing. (For the most part) Most I have seen are all pre-printed pieces of paper & have no personal touch, creativity or personality in them. Those are awful. Yours is very refreshing & has given me a bunch of ideas to use in mine. I think of it as a personal art project. (I’m also very thankful that you don’t have gaudy, ridiculously long fake finger nails. Hahah.) Thanks for sharing!

If it helps with Scorpio, think of there being different kinds of water.
Pisces is a fish in slow-moving water. Might be ocean, might be lake, might be a pond.
Cancer is a crab on the beach. Sand being kept wet by waves.
Scorpion sits on a boulder, watching a river flowing past. Sometimes the river is slow and gentle and sometimes it's fast and dangerous.
Nicely put! My ex best friend was a Cancer/Aries (water/fire) and my sweetheart is a Scorpio/Aquarius (water/Air) and I am Aquarius/Taurus (air/earth)

I am also not Wiccan, and while I find that practice intellectually interesting, I find it hard to find practice inspiration that isn’t based on Wicca. Folk magic is as old as time, so I’ve been looking for channels that come from more diverse/personalized foundations. Thank you!

I had a handmade wooden covered BOS that was accidentally left behind as It was supposed to be on my lap as I left town in a scared hurry ( long story of abuse) and my magickal tools were meant to be FIRST in the car so now I have to start over. Your BOS is an inspiration! ❤📖📒
Your first BOS sounds beautiful and while it's sad that it's gone, I'm relieved to hear that you made it out safely!
I'm a survivor myself- I know how scary it is to leave and you did it! That is incredibly brave. Perhaps having new tools will be healing- fresh tools for a fresh start. You can slowly acquire new tools- I've really been focusing on natural items I find. If I can do anything to help, let me know 💖

You book is beautifully done. I was always taught our own Book of Shadows is personal and to never share for it holds your personal spells and such. This however doesn’t look as personal. It looks more like a study guide of compiled info one would find anywhere when researching the topics. Which is very lovely also. You have added your personal artistic flare to it. Your handwriting is gorgeous and how you lay out each page is so nicely done. Very pleasing to look at and symmetrical. Have you ever thought of publishing it? I bet it would sell well. First video of yours I have seen. Merry meet.

This book was very general; while I was working on it I didn't intend on sharing it, but once I was finished I thought it might help someone who was just beginning their journey.

Ok I have made it to the candle part...making your own candles is so much fun if your new..I would suggest a canning jar or even saving a glass jelly jar and I used food can washed and not coated inside and heated the wax on the stove ot was so much fun and they were unique. Sorry back to video

I’m just beginning my journey and I have a beautiful handmade notebook I’ve been holding onto for over a decade, waiting for the time to come when I’d know what to do with it. I’ve recently realized this is its purpose, but I’ve been so afraid to start in case I messed up or put things in an order that didn’t make sense. But seeing yours makes me realize that it’s not just about the information. It’s about the intent and the journey - it’s not meant to be perfect, it’s just meant to be.
Yes, that's exactly it!! It's hard to get over that idea of perfection, but once you do, you'll learn so much!
It can be helpful to lightly put your work in pencil before inking!

I'm sorry I'm late replying! I realized quickly that Wicca wasn't "for" me! I want to come up with my own creed, but it's hard to put into words. Thank you so much for your comments
This is my last attempt. I have written 5 replies already and end up making them disappear. Anyhoo, my creed (even before witch stuff) has been "the golden rule" It just makes sense and it is mentioned in some form all around the world. I am interested in what you come up with though.However, if you are busy or not dealing with it at this time don't worry about it. I did my first page 2 days ago and it is awful! Knowing I can't paint over it and try again makes me more willing to try though. Thanks again for sharing.

I'm struggling with how I feel about hexes and binding spells- generally I don't do them, but with the Josh Duggar case, I'm not sure 😅 maybe it's okay to hex those who do serious harm? I'd be interested in what you think!

I've been trying to look at BOS videos to get inspiration for mine because I only have the phases of the moon and the color of the candles that's it so this helps me a lot

I am curious what part of Canada you're in. I'm in Toronto and usually by the end of March we're clear of snow but occasionally we do get surprised. Hekate has been such a reassuring energy for me while I've been grieving. Astrology has been a study and an escape, but Hekate allows me to be in uncomfortable spaces. Thanks again for your thoughtful comment 💖

Yes, absolutely! I prefer using the new moon for shedding and the full moon for manifestation/ goal planning. It really depends on your sources/ traditions!

What does Scorpio seem like to you & why? Just curious...
Oooh I love Scorpios! I find them secretive- emotionally intelligent but keeping their emotions closely guarded. The Scorpios I've known seem to have a distrust of being vulnerable with others. Scorpio is closely associated with the Moon card for me- that dark creature emerging from the pool of water. They hide for protection of their emotional selves.
I base these associations both from Scorpio moon signs I know and studying astrology

What is the difference between the BoS and a grimoire
A BOS is basically a diary of magic, meant to be very personal. A grimoire is similar, but not as personal. My book here is closer to a grimoire, as this was my magical research.
A BOS would ideally have notes on your personal workings and growth. Something with removable pages would have been amazing for me, as I could have moved things around. I hope that helps!

Very cool annotations. It is a journal basically to remember experiences you have, because down the road something takes place to link them both together. Then they would answer a question, or make better sense. You may cross an individual through the spiritual, get part of a message not clear, then one day do something that completes the mystery.

I totally get what you're saying- scorpions are desert creatures, but for astrology, it is under the water element. Scorpios do hold things closer to themselves. You should look at sites like co-star and put in your birth info. Our birth chart is so much more complicated than just the one sign. You likely have a lot of Earth energy in your chart, particularly if you relate to it strongly.

Those are good points. I have been researching on various things to see if I can figure out ways to make all parts of witchcraft accessible. Do you find any fonts easier to read than others? I've seen that comic sans is supposed to be the best font for dyslexia

Do not speak about things you don't have knowledge of. Smudging with white sage is an indigenous practice and should remain exactly that, CLOSED. It isn't fun and games. I swear some people have to ruin everything. Good on this fellow witch making this video for realising this mistake.
