I love this set. I am in the U.S and got this set delivered in layers of Styrofoam and cardboard and bubble wrap. The colors are beautiful although somewhat lacking in the pale pastels. They work beautifully in Hannah Karlson and Maria Trolle books. They seem to me be as pigmented as my artist quality sets. They have a nice lay down. But they they are not prismas or Holbeins. For an inexpensive set they are a dream. I will soon be trying them in one of my Mythograpic books. I hope you enjoy these. Really enjoyed your review.
Hiya Alicia, yes I like them, the colour palette is lovely, although I do agree about the pastels, they feel lacking in pigment a bit, they need too many layers to get the true colour. (Tempted to swap in my brut Macarons to replace the pastels as I think they are better) I don't think they are as pigmented as my Luminance or lightfast, but the cost difference is huge, and for the money, I think they are a good buy. I'm definitely enjoying them, and I'm really pleased with them on amazon paper, I'm yet to try them on any nice paper books, so I will have to be brave with that. 👍
Thanks for the tips on the books these pencils like. I have used them in one of the German colouring books by Topp and didn't like them. They were a bit dull. But in other books I am enjoying them. They are great value.
I recently got the 240 set and I really like them. Was very lucky as I ordered them from Temu and, as a first time customer, I got them for just £13.04 and no p&p!!!! They arrived in 6 days and were very well packaged. Will be using them from now on. 😉

You have me interested in these now, I do like pencils that prefer to be layered. While you were talking about the weird colour order on the swatch chart though I couldn't stop thinking about the Castle Art Gold swatch chart with that weird random Ultramarine Light blue right at the end of the browns 😵💫
Ooops, sorry! 😉 I don't understand some of these daft colour charts, I'm guessing its because the larger sets are made after smaller ones, so they are an after thought, but the order makes no sense in some of these. I'm enjoying the pencils, though, they are better on more textured papers like Amazon I think. 👍❤️

I have the 240 set and had similar issues with the paint on the barrels and found the order of colours baffling too 😁 However, for the price I paid for the pencils (in Australia a few months back) I have found the quality and range of colours to be perfectly acceptable for colouring books 👍
I totally agree, the colour names/order is baffling, but I do really like the colours, and I'm enjoying using them. For the money, I can't complain, I think for the cost its amazing they are as good as they are. I'm looking forward to using them more. 👍

I'm ok with it, they are pretty good for the money, and at that price, there are going to be short cuts, I'd rather it was the paint, than the actual pencil. 👍
Brutfuner and Kalour are the same just white branding. I have the 120 set that comes with the grey zipped case (with blender/charcoal pencils/eraser in form of a pencil/free colouring book/drawing pencils/sharpener) they are great for the budget price and work well in books. Body of my pencils are also knicked in some areas like yours and they appear visually straight but are wonky (roll on the desk and it becomes obvious). The blender pencil is terrible it sharpens to a sharp point but is super crumbly.
I have the Brut 520 set and although they are similar, I don't think they are quite the same, these Kalour's feel like they layer better than my 520 bruts. The bruts seem to build up a resist more than these, so I think there are subtle differences, perhaps its that these are newer, ( My bruts are two years old) so perhaps they are updating the formula a bit? I'm pleased I've added them, as much as I like the bruts the size of them is a bit annoying to have on the desk, this feels like a good colour mix for size, and I'm pleased with the price. I haven't tried the blender, as there isn't one in this set, the only issues with mine are the odd paint error, the actual construction of these seems good, I've got no bent or odd looking shapes, (Thankfully!😉)👍
These are nice pencils. I have the 240 set. My only gripe is that there are not enough browns in my set. Very lacking in dark shades of brown. But the colours are lovely and I even like, and use, the metallics. I didn't know they did a 300 set when I bought the 240. That was an oversight!
HI Sue, Yes I like these, and totally agree, the metallics are surprisingly good in these. I think they are possibly the best metallics I have. I must admit I haven't noticed the browns being missing in this 300 set, but I do feel getting any dark shade quite an effort with them, it often takes a bit if layering. The greens in my RJ Hampson pages, I found I had to layer over a blue to get the green as dark as I wanted.I'm still enjoying them, and for the money, I think they are a good buy.👍
I also think the 240 is very lacking in blues too! The 300 set has more blues and there’s a 72 set for approx $20 on my Amazon that has more blues and more browns.

Hi Emma Jane, welcome, x💗❤️ K was a bit nervous of trying other places too, I try to use Paypal if its somewhere I'm not sure about, I don't trust Temu or Ali Express with my credit details. You can always appeal via Paypal if you are having issues so its feels a bit safer to me. I've bought from Ali like that for years, and its been fine, just don't let them save any Paypal details, you want it set so you have to sign in to Paypal each time. ( They try to set it up to auto authorise, but you can turn that off from in Paypal's own settings) There are some good buys on both sites, so it is worth doing, just read the descriptions really well. The Kalours were much cheaper on there, you just have to wait a bit longer to get them, x 💗🫶🏻
I have the 240 set. I enjoy using them, but I have discovered that it's a complete pain in the butt to have them in color order in a case and trying to put them back in the right order. For me anyway. I found a swatch chart for the set on Etsy that they had put in color order. So in the case, they are in number order and that's just so much easier for me. I've also done that with my Black Widows and Markart sets. I really love how the pastels look in this set. I might have to get my hands on their 50(?) Pastel set soon.
I think because I have a swatch and the numbers stuck into the case, I don't find this so much of a problem, I tend to leave the pencils out I'm using and only return them to the case when Ive finished the colouring page I'm working on, then put them all away. It takes a bit of time to set the case up, so it has all the numbers and swatches on, but I find it saves me time messing around when packing up. I do think their colour order is crazy though. If you just want a pastel set, I'd get the Brut Macarons over these, I think the pastels in this feel like they are a bit light on pigment, you really have to work them to get the colour, I think the brut ones are better, they feel more pigmented. But I don't have the new 72 pastel set from Kalour, it might be worth seeing if any one has it, as I don't think they are supposed to be the same as these.?

Hi there, I too have the 240 set. I think for the new 60 colours, they just added the last lot onto the end of the colour chart and just kept them in their numerical order. Which makes no sense and hurts my eyes as well! I think the black barrelled ones, and the Fuxi Obos are slightly nicer to use- well for me anyway! I'm in NZ and use Aliexpress for most of my pencils, can't beat them here.
Yes agreed, the lower trays do feel like odd after thoughts. I've not tried the other you mention, I'll have to keep an eye out for them. 👍I like Ali, although you dont have to be in a rush!😁
I have this set, colored pencils are my Kryptonite. I'm thinking of making a spreadsheet that I can organize by color family , reorganizing that way and then put in the pencil case. I'll let you know how that goes.
mine came exactly like that i bought so many i have all sets they are the same i even got the over 500 set cant remember what they are called they are all the same i dont mind at lest i don't have to worry about running out of any i bought them when they were stupid cheap i love them only thing when you sharpen them it goes down a lot you will have fun the colours are amazing for blending the colours

they are the bruntfurner 520 i bought 2 thinking that the other one in the different packaging were different they are not lol but they were so cheap and i still can not get over how densely coloured they are on paper i bought the tbc ones they are worst than a packet at asda the kids ones that all wax no pigment it will go to a arts and craft group
When i saw the bottom tray of mine (they came exactly the same as your) i just assumed it was the ones that could not fit in one tray to make it look pleasing to the eye when you pull up a tray imagine cuz there are more colours than the amount that fit in a tray say you had a beautiful tray of greens you pick up the next tray and it has 3 greens and the rest red so they put all the odds in a tray right at the bottom I love these pencils and yes i have all the sets they are all the same i know i also know that the prices will go up as they did there are enough colours to last and if i run out of one colour i always have a replacement i have stopped buying coloured pencils lol i would have to live 3 or more life times to get through the amount i have
Oh yes Nessy, I suppose that would make sense, its just a bit strange to try and make sense of it when you take them out later. Yes I'm still enjoying these, I like the colour choices in them. I was really pleased to see them at a better price on Ali, as the price here in the UK, is too much, x It must be nice to have a few sets, no chance of running out!😄👍
@@wendyscolouring looking at the colour selection I am pretty sure the last tray is meant to be a set of Morandi colours (muted hues inspired by those used by the Italian painter Morandi), as Morandi-inspired sets of art materials and stationery are very popular (much as Macaron/pastels) in China, Korea and Japan. Hence why the colours look “random”. They aren’t, however.
I love these pencils. Some of mine have bad paint job's too. I also agree what you say about how strange the swatch sheet is laid out and i don't agree with some of the names on them. When i swatched them and put them in my pencil case i tried to put them in colour order. But ive found its difficult to find a certain pencil because their stored differently from the swatch sheet. I suppose i just need to get used to having such a big set of pencils. Xx
Lol! At least it wasn't just mine that had bad paint, overall, I don't think they are bad for the money, I'm quite enjoying using them. Having all my pencil cases with stickers with name/swatch and number, plus a rough colour order does make it easier putting them away, but I'm used to using large sets, so I'm used to it. I tend to leave all the ones out I'm using till I've finished the page Im working on, and only then put them all back. It's all part of the fun!😉
Great Idea having those together in one, I prefer the pastels in the Macarons set to the original pastels in the 300 set. Might have to keep my eye out for a bigger case for them . (unless I finally buy the 500 set!😂) xx

Thanks Charity, I'm not a great Fluorescent pencil user normally, but I thought I'd give them a try, and I do quite like how they are working with the lighting effects. They are similar to my Brut 520 set, but these feel better made, and they seem to layer a bit more. They are a good cheap buy, and so far I've enjoyed using them. I've not used them on any books with better paper yet, so I am curious to see how they perform on better paper. I'm still learning with them yet. 👍💗

But they are so cheap, so I'm ok with it, they were all useable, and I've had no breakages, so I can live with a bit of poor painting here and there. Hiya, its nothing special, just whatever is available on Amazon. I just get A4 sized printable sticker paper packs. ( Normally I get a huge pack so it lasts me years.) I think they are normally used for printing large labels. I just then hand cut them into strips, and apply. I just find it the easiest way to keep my cases in some order. 👍
Now they have a set of 520 Out of curiosity I got a set of 72 of these Kalour. Very fun, and I would love to have 300 of them, but I don't need anymore... But yes, I want more anyway.
Oh gosh I know, thankfully not availble yet on Amazon Uk, (Phew!😂) I am very tempted by them, but I know I find a pencil case that big annoying on my desk, so I'm in two minds, 320 I can deal with, but much more starts to become a bit overwhelming. I hoping the price will put me off once available. You are clearly much more self controled than I, 😉😁👍💗

You better not get the 520 Brutfuners then!😉😆 I like having a good range of pencil choice, I tend to put my other sets together to make big sets, so this doesn't feel like loads to me. I do take quite a bit of time to get the pencil case set up, so it makes it easier to put them back, and I tend to try to keep them in the same colour order in each of my cases, so I think that also helps. There are smaller sets of these, if you prefer less though, and they will be much cheaper, so perhaps thats a bonus!👍
Oh yes, I'm liking them on Amazon paper, I've just started a page in one of my Japanese books, and they aren't as nice on that. They need a bit of texture I think. 👍
Hi, do you think it’s possible to match a 150 set of Prismacolors to similar ones in that set? Kalour now has a 520 set and I’m like an addict wanting another fix.
Hmm, tricky question, I dont use my Prisma's a huge amount as they are so pricey here in the Uk, so I'm not as familiar with the colour palette in them as much as in some other brands. The 320 has a good colour variety, and has been designed in the States, so I'd guess they must have looked at Prisma when designing their colour palette. I'd imagine you could get pretty close with the 320 set. I am curious to see what else they have put in the 520, but thankfully they aren't available here in the UK yet, so I cant be tempted!😂😉 Even Ali Express wont ship them to me yet ( Not that Im looking or anything!😂🤣) xx👍💗

Hiya, yes I have the Brut 120 Squares, Brut 520, black barrelled 160, and the a couple of sets of Macarons. I personally like the Kalour's better than the sets I have of the Bruts, My 520's are good, but I do find the set too big, and the colours are so samey, I find myself a bit overwhelmed by them. I like the mix of colours in this 300 set, and they aren't too hard. ( I don't love a hard pencil, I don't use my Polychromos often for the same reason) I think ultimately it depends on whether you can spot them at a good price, these are still a cheaper pencil, so don't pay too much for them. I bought mine from Ali-Express, as the Amazon price here in the Uk for them is too much. The Kalour's also felt a bit better made then my 520's they are a bit wider, and I've had no issues with them. ( The brut macaroons are a great pencil, and the quality with those is great, they are often on cheap deal, if you haven't got those, I'd add them into your basket, as for the money they are excellent) I have a lot of pencil sets, cheap and expensive but I'm still enjoying these, and I think I'd replace them, once they start running out. ( I probably won't replace the 520 Bruts) I do like the black barrelled 160 Bruts, they are softer, but I don't think the colour palette is as nice as the Kalour's. Hope that helps, xx ☺️👍

What an absolute waste of packing materials. Mine came very different than that. They just came in the tin box wrapped in the orange plastic. This is ABSURD. Way to go green🤦🏻♀️ Sad that this is "impressive" 💔
As these are coming such a long way and are easily damaged pencils, I do prefer thicker packaging. These aren’t from Temu, so it isn’t going to be the orange bag. I have kept the packaging from this to re-use so it’s not been wasted, most of the items from Ali will be just in a bag, but for pencils to be in any kind of decent order inside, I do prefer thicker stuff. Ordering from China is never going to be Green, the distance traveled doesn’t allow that.

I've also done that with my Black Widows and Markart sets.
I really love how the pastels look in this set. I might have to get my hands on their 50(?) Pastel set soon.
I have done this with most of my pencils and I find it much easier also.
I think because I have a swatch and the numbers stuck into the case, I don't find this so much of a problem, I tend to leave the pencils out I'm using and only return them to the case when Ive finished the colouring page I'm working on, then put them all away. It takes a bit of time to set the case up, so it has all the numbers and swatches on, but I find it saves me time messing around when packing up. I do think their colour order is crazy though.
If you just want a pastel set, I'd get the Brut Macarons over these, I think the pastels in this feel like they are a bit light on pigment, you really have to work them to get the colour, I think the brut ones are better, they feel more pigmented. But I don't have the new 72 pastel set from Kalour, it might be worth seeing if any one has it, as I don't think they are supposed to be the same as these.?
@@wendyscolouring Well that's disappointing. I'll put them on the bottom of the list. I need all the pencils - even though I only ever really use my Prismas, Black Widows and Castle Arts Gold.

Hi there, I too have the 240 set. I think for the new 60 colours, they just added the last lot onto the end of the colour chart and just kept them in their numerical order. Which makes no sense and hurts my eyes as well! I think the black barrelled ones, and the Fuxi Obos are slightly nicer to use- well for me anyway! I'm in NZ and use Aliexpress for most of my pencils, can't beat them here.
Yes agreed, the lower trays do feel like odd after thoughts. I've not tried the other you mention, I'll have to keep an eye out for them. 👍I like Ali, although you dont have to be in a rush!😁
I have this set, colored pencils are my Kryptonite. I'm thinking of making a spreadsheet that I can organize by color family , reorganizing that way and then put in the pencil case. I'll let you know how that goes.

mine came exactly like that i bought so many i have all sets they are the same i even got the over 500 set cant remember what they are called they are all the same i dont mind at lest i don't have to worry about running out of any i bought them when they were stupid cheap i love them only thing when you sharpen them it goes down a lot you will have fun the colours are amazing for blending the colours

they are the bruntfurner 520 i bought 2 thinking that the other one in the different packaging were different they are not lol but they were so cheap and i still can not get over how densely coloured they are on paper i bought the tbc ones they are worst than a packet at asda the kids ones that all wax no pigment it will go to a arts and craft group
When i saw the bottom tray of mine (they came exactly the same as your) i just assumed it was the ones that could not fit in one tray to make it look pleasing to the eye when you pull up a tray imagine cuz there are more colours than the amount that fit in a tray say you had a beautiful tray of greens you pick up the next tray and it has 3 greens and the rest red so they put all the odds in a tray right at the bottom
I love these pencils and yes i have all the sets they are all the same i know i also know that the prices will go up as they did there are enough colours to last and if i run out of one colour i always have a replacement i have stopped buying coloured pencils lol i would have to live 3 or more life times to get through the amount i have
Oh yes Nessy, I suppose that would make sense, its just a bit strange to try and make sense of it when you take them out later. Yes I'm still enjoying these, I like the colour choices in them. I was really pleased to see them at a better price on Ali, as the price here in the UK, is too much, x It must be nice to have a few sets, no chance of running out!😄👍
@@wendyscolouring looking at the colour selection I am pretty sure the last tray is meant to be a set of Morandi colours (muted hues inspired by those used by the Italian painter Morandi), as Morandi-inspired sets of art materials and stationery are very popular (much as Macaron/pastels) in China, Korea and Japan. Hence why the colours look “random”. They aren’t, however.
I love these pencils. Some of mine have bad paint job's too.
I also agree what you say about how strange the swatch sheet is laid out and i don't agree with some of the names on them.
When i swatched them and put them in my pencil case i tried to put them in colour order. But ive found its difficult to find a certain pencil because their stored differently from the swatch sheet. I suppose i just need to get used to having such a big set of pencils. Xx
Lol! At least it wasn't just mine that had bad paint, overall, I don't think they are bad for the money, I'm quite enjoying using them. Having all my pencil cases with stickers with name/swatch and number, plus a rough colour order does make it easier putting them away, but I'm used to using large sets, so I'm used to it. I tend to leave all the ones out I'm using till I've finished the page Im working on, and only then put them all back. It's all part of the fun!😉
I have a single dlot pencil case for 384. I have my kalour 300 plus kalour macarons 72 set in them.
Great Idea having those together in one, I prefer the pastels in the Macarons set to the original pastels in the 300 set. Might have to keep my eye out for a bigger case for them . (unless I finally buy the 500 set!😂) xx

Thanks Charity, I'm not a great Fluorescent pencil user normally, but I thought I'd give them a try, and I do quite like how they are working with the lighting effects. They are similar to my Brut 520 set, but these feel better made, and they seem to layer a bit more. They are a good cheap buy, and so far I've enjoyed using them. I've not used them on any books with better paper yet, so I am curious to see how they perform on better paper. I'm still learning with them yet. 👍💗

Hiya Doodle, sadly I don't think so, I think this is the level of their quality. But they are so cheap, so I'm ok with it, they were all useable, and I've had no breakages, so I can live with a bit of poor painting here and there. I do quite like them, I'm enjoying them on Amazon paper, and I have quite a lot of Amazon books, so I think they will be a useful addition. 🖖Thanks for watching it, x 👍

Hiya, its nothing special, just whatever is available on Amazon. I just get A4 sized printable sticker paper packs. ( Normally I get a huge pack so it lasts me years.) I think they are normally used for printing large labels. I just then hand cut them into strips, and apply. I just find it the easiest way to keep my cases in some order. 👍

Oh dear, sorry! You better not get the 520 Brutfuners then!😉😆 I like having a good range of pencil choice, I tend to put my other sets together to make big sets, so this doesn't feel like loads to me. I do take quite a bit of time to get the pencil case set up, so it makes it easier to put them back, and I tend to try to keep them in the same colour order in each of my cases, so I think that also helps. There are smaller sets of these, if you prefer less though, and they will be much cheaper, so perhaps thats a bonus!👍

Hmm, tricky question, I dont use my Prisma's a huge amount as they are so pricey here in the Uk, so I'm not as familiar with the colour palette in them as much as in some other brands. The 320 has a good colour variety, and has been designed in the States, so I'd guess they must have looked at Prisma when designing their colour palette. I'd imagine you could get pretty close with the 320 set. I am curious to see what else they have put in the 520, but thankfully they aren't available here in the UK yet, so I cant be tempted!😂😉 Even Ali Express wont ship them to me yet ( Not that Im looking or anything!😂🤣) xx👍💗

Hiya, yes I have the Brut 120 Squares, Brut 520, black barrelled 160, and the a couple of sets of Macarons. I personally like the Kalour's better than the sets I have of the Bruts, My 520's are good, but I do find the set too big, and the colours are so samey, I find myself a bit overwhelmed by them. I like the mix of colours in this 300 set, and they aren't too hard. ( I don't love a hard pencil, I don't use my Polychromos often for the same reason) I think ultimately it depends on whether you can spot them at a good price, these are still a cheaper pencil, so don't pay too much for them. I bought mine from Ali-Express, as the Amazon price here in the Uk for them is too much. The Kalour's also felt a bit better made then my 520's they are a bit wider, and I've had no issues with them. ( The brut macaroons are a great pencil, and the quality with those is great, they are often on cheap deal, if you haven't got those, I'd add them into your basket, as for the money they are excellent) I have a lot of pencil sets, cheap and expensive but I'm still enjoying these, and I think I'd replace them, once they start running out. ( I probably won't replace the 520 Bruts) I do like the black barrelled 160 Bruts, they are softer, but I don't think the colour palette is as nice as the Kalour's. Hope that helps, xx ☺️👍

What an absolute waste of packing materials. Mine came very different than that. They just came in the tin box wrapped in the orange plastic. This is ABSURD. Way to go green🤦🏻♀️ Sad that this is "impressive" 💔
As these are coming such a long way and are easily damaged pencils, I do prefer thicker packaging. These aren’t from Temu, so it isn’t going to be the orange bag. I have kept the packaging from this to re-use so it’s not been wasted, most of the items from Ali will be just in a bag, but for pencils to be in any kind of decent order inside, I do prefer thicker stuff. Ordering from China is never going to be Green, the distance traveled doesn’t allow that.
