Ah, Clearly you have excellent taste!😉 I totally agree, the hard back cover just makes it feel like something much more important. I hope your arrive soon, x ❤️
Lol! I think you'll survive!😉 How dare you have some time away from us!😂 Hope its been so you could do something lovely. These are nice books, I do love the fancy hardback versions. As ever the paper could have been even better but at least it's much better than it was, and as you say, no doubles. Thanks for stopping by, 👍🖖👾
Thank you for the first look at the hard cover versions, Wendy! I'm in Canada and I've got Night Garden on order - not sure when it will be shipped but I hope I get the kind of surprise that you did! :)
I'm in Canada too and have Forest Song and Midnight magic in hard covers pre ordered. (Can't wait!) It's funny as when I first saw them on Amazon Canada, they were being sold for $22 something. I placed my order, went back to make sure that all was well, and the price had jumped up to over $40!!!! I hope that this doesn't sound nosy but @colouringchemist what did you pay?
@@lovetobecolouring2 Not nosy at all. :) I just checked and my pre-order was for $22.84CDN. When I click on the item to take me to the item page, though, you're right - it now only shows the book being sold by third party sellers for $40+. My pre-order definitely says it's being sold by Amazon Canada and not a third-party seller, though, so that's good. :) I've been checking on RJ's hardcover books on Amazon Canada for the last few weeks and I noticed that the listings keep changing from day to day - I think we were lucky to have placed our pre-orders when the books were actually listed by Amazon! Hopefully, as RJ gets all the bugs ironed out with this new format, the availability through Amazon (directly) will be more stable. :) I'll do a flip thru and a comparison to Amazon Canada CreateSpace paper on my channel when I get the hard cover!
@@colouringchemist Gosh those prices are a bit all over the place, third party sellers, that's rubbish. Some people never miss a trick to make some extra cash. I think I'd wait till the stock becomes more reliable at those prices, so sorry, Hope yours both arrive, ok, x
They look really great, I will buy the ones that I don't have yet in the hardcover version, A Frog's Tale and Lost and Found I don't have yet. I am glad you can use watercolour paints in them, I really like to add beautiful metallic watercolour details in my coloring pages. Have lots of joy coloring in them and thank you for the video and your daring test page, hi hi, now I don't have to do that in my book 😂🤣🤪!
Thanks, ❤️💗 Yes I think a few people have been horrified I just did that to a new beautiful book, but it needed to happen didn't it!😂 I probably wont do that much water on a real page, but its nice to know its not going to go funny if I do. Enjoy yours when they arrive, xx ❤️🐸💗
I always thought I was a bit different, so I'm glad to hear you say that you do your pages in colored pencil. I'm not partial to markers, paint and metallic stuff. I usually use my Pablos, Prismacolor or Polychromos. I much prefer just colored pencil so thank you for mentioning your preference as well. Happy coloring!
I am a slow coloured pencil colourer ( In the main) I do use the other stuff as well, I like a bit of metals paint, and a marker is great for a quick base of colour, but I enjoy the pencils most, and generally in Rj's books pencil is my go to. I just wish it was a bit quicker sometimes! 😉😁
So happy to see better paper and just one copy of the pictures. I'm not interested in two of the same picture. Thanks for sharing these, been looking for a review of the better quality book.
I know, I did think twice about if I wanted to do it, it was in Frogs tale as well! 😂 But well, we needed to know, so it had to be done. It will be more messy when I've worked in it!😉 I can live with it, but i do understand people being horrified 🤣
Ooh you were lucky, still waiting for mine although I picked a different one to you. Mine says second week in October still. Thanks for this experiment, very interesting! Excited to get my first one. Thanks Wendy 🙂🌼
Yes, I’m surprised as you!😁😂 Mine still said Oct/Nov on Sunday, but then suddenly it changed to being delivered today. So it might surprise you, x🤞🏼😁 Enjoy it when it arrives, x
Thank you for sharing with us! This is very helpful when deciding if I should get the hard cover or not. I'm in the same boat. I have almost all of his books already.
I will probably get my favourites, but not all. I think the hard choice for me is when he has a new book out, I will want to see the new book, but these take so long, will I wait!🤣
Really helpful video. I was put off ordering these as I know 105gsm or thereabouts is not really that thick a paper but then I wanted to see what it’s like and if I can use watercolour pencils, it’s still worth it. Have ordered the lost and found one and might get the frog one too as I don’t have that one in the paperback version. Enjoyed your video, as always. Thanks Wendy xx
Hiya, yes I was curious about the quality of the paper, its not amazing, but compered to the normal Amazon stuff its much nicer. I definitely think watercolour pencils are fine, and i'd think we'd get away with a bit of metallic watercolour. They do take a bit of time to arrive though, I think I've been waiting over two weeks for these to arrive. Thanks K, hope your week is good, x ❤️
I’m so excited to get his hard backs have been waiting until came out with better paper. When you become a famous watercolorist that painting, which by the way is called man in thought, will sell for a million😂
HI Bridget, there are a few product demos on the channel, but I do struggle a bit with colour alongs, I do need to do some more I know, I'm just not a very chatty person, and I find the silence of a colour a long a bit tricky, ( The feeling I must talk more) I am thinking perhaps a speed colour a long might suit me more, I just need to work out how to add a voice over the speeded up track. Thanks for asking, it's nice to know people are interested if I did it. x ❤️💗👍

The way he subtitled a frogs tale with “a mr fogherty coloring book” makes me hope he will come out with more mr fogherty books. I hope so because I adore this book
Hi Wendy, thank you for showing this books. I had already 1 book in my chart, but i saw it was almost twice the price, 19 euro than the paperback ones ( in the Netherlands). My adorable Wildergorn book is A3 size and comes with 30 pages and has 300gsm for 35 euro…..so yeah……I like the books but it’s overpriced in the Netherlands.
Yes sadly the prices of these books do seem to be all over the place, depending where in the world you are. Hopefully as stocks become a bit more available the price might become a bit more stable. Im very tempted to get that amazing Wildergorn book, its stunning! but the thought of colouring it does terrify me a bit!😂❤️

I don't know if you got these at an introductory price, but on Amazon UK they are currently £20.77 vs £10.26 for the paperback version. Not sure I want to fork out so much if the paper is not MUCH better rather than a bit better
Really? Gosh they certainly weren’t that price when I bought, and I have bought a couple more since, at a cheaper price since. Not sure what’s going on there? Sorry, x
I bought the soft-cover 'A Frog's Tale'in August--and love the illustrations--but when I went to color 'Mr. Fogarty playing Cello in a Quartet'--my colored pencils seemed to just 'sink in' to the paper and the entire picture turned so dark!! I was horrified!! I'm afraid that all my shading went to naught!!!Lynn in NYC
Hiya, yes thats sadly the joy of Amazon paper, its rather annoying. Its worth playing around with different pencils, any pencil that likes a textured surface will be better. So glad you have shared this!! I only have one of RJ Hampsons books so I wanted to get his others in the new version. Do you think the paper is the same as Christine Karron’s Amazon books? 💗
