@DJ BARR Why do you not use Square base speaker stands I do understand your facade covers the tripods is that why?
3 years ago when I started djing. I searched everywhere for a step by step video and couldn't find anything. Thank you for this. It will help up and coming djs with setup. I still learned some thing tho.

I’ve been in the DJ business for over 25 years and I’m now using this to all new employees this is my instructional video. I personally would rather hard wire my lighting instead of wireless there is always an issue but this was a great video awesome job! I’m in NJ if your looking for work!

When making patch cables, I use friction tape. This way the zip ties don’t hurt or catch your hands. Also, they melt and produce nasty sticky residue after a hot day.
I make patch cables for all my audio as well as lighting to save time.
The tape does not melt.

Nice job all pro straight to the point top of the line equipment and you didn’t even go in to how you became a DJ or who your mom is or none of the stuff that makes you hate RUclips videos
Zip ties will make the wire heat up and eventually stop working, your label will eventually come off after a couple of uses. I recommend colour electric tape for each size of wire. Example: grey for 3ft wire. For labeling I recommend putting your logo and then adding heat-shrink tubing on top. It will never come off.

Great info, luv HOSA, my setup is similar except I use a small FX10 Mackie or Yamaha board, I stopped going direct from the mixer or controller to the subs and tops. I'm using Yorkville subs, QSC tops & Pro X products, their Mesa DJ facade with tv mount and totem truss for monitors or lights but I'm interested in your video visuals. Can they be used for live streams on Twitch, FB Live, Twitter Live etc..? If so then we r good to go..
Nice clean setup and informative video. Never been a fan of tv screens although of the many setups I've seen they do look good with this setup! How do dj's safely transport TV's - I'd be a nervous wreck worrying if they are going to get damaged!

@@johncolon8614 for mobile events TV screens are too OTT for me. Just use a LED messenger or scrolling digital moving message for personalisation. Focus should be on the music and lights. Too many 'extras' being offered by some
Thanks for sharing. I have 2 x JBL 310 bluetooth speakers and a Pioneer XDJ-XZ controller. That i plan to take out in the park next summer. What power station are recomended for a DJ controller like mine ? Looking for 4-6 hours play time.

Another great vid as always Barr. I’m DJing an outdoor birthday party in April. I’ll be setting up on their lawn. Obviously I can’t tape my cables to the grass. Any suggestions to limit tripping hazards?
You can use cable conduits, rubber mats, rugs, hallway runners or cable tie them off the ground (up a tree or pole or fence). Plenty of options for you.

Vinyl electrical tape turns to goo when it gets hot. I recommend Tesa fabric tape.

11.33 - if you want to go straight to the point of connecting up. The rest is to do with the cables, cable ties, etc;
For labeling, I would suggest that you write XLR3FT - COMPANY NAME, stick it on the cable and put a heat-shrinkable sleeve to cover it. You can also add an electric color tape between XLR3FT and your company name, to see which lenght is the cable. I am not super fan of these white labeling like you do, as it can become dirty and also not very elegant if you have cable on the floor or get glued with gaff tape. Just my opinion 😎

Why don't you use wireless dongles for your DMX and speakers?
Nice video. I find alot of gigs I play I have deal with a singer or emcee who loves to walk in front of the speakers so when in front of speakers causing feedback so I run every thing through a mixer and ensure the microphone signal does not go through the Subs and I can use an EQ to remove some frequecy that is causing feedback. QSC Touch 8 Mixer, compact but versatile.

Those smaller power cables are still IEC (IEC covers a range of plug types), but generally called Figure 8's.
The "playstation" cable is a figure 8 cable.
You can still get protection for it too. Figure 8 can be equipped with Ferrite cores & a fuse.
Hey Barr, nice video as usual. i wish I had your video abilities. The only thing I noticed was your taping. Since I worked for Tel-AV for a year or so I was trained in taping and the tape Nazi would go around ripping up any tape jobs that weren't well done. The way we were taught was to spot tape the cable at each end and the middle first use the one inch tape with a piece on either side of the cable and then one piece in the middle. That way there's very little chance of anyone dislodging it and when you remove it the tape won't wrap around the cable. I can see using just the two inch tape for cables under the cover of the facade but if its going down in an area where people will be walking use the method I mentioned. I also love your setup for weddings. I believe its far superior to using the podium Joe Bunn is selling.
