Before the façade days, I would coil the cables and extensions / plug ins gathered under the table and place them in a small carry bag. Keeps them out of sight and all you may see is a tool bag with wires going into it.
DJs listen up!! Quick life hack to get rid of coiled cables when they are new. Put them out in the sun on the driveway or porch straight and extended. Leave them in the sun for like 4-5 hours and you have some nice loose “baked” cables
I like the idea of using gaff tape but I find that gravity clips and reusable Velcro zip ties work better - they’re reusable, faster to use, and the zip ties are also easily used to tape coiled cables for storage too.
Agree. And what very few folks talk about is how Gaff tape has a tendency to leave some of it's glue on the cables and how with time and regular use, those cables become ugly and sticky.
This video is the BEST!!!!! I am a DJ Instructor and will be sharing with ALL of my students. Thanks for doing the research and posting a video of your tools.
Really good tips, the cable organization and the DMX for the lights are both of capital importance! Brings a pro look to the setup even when the DJ is not using the most expensive top of the line equipment. A tip the I want to share with you, adding Velcro straps to the speaker stand you can keep all the cables organized and is a permanent solution, that’s what I have in all my speaker stands. Thank you for your tips, I hope my recommendations will be useful for you guys.
I would suggest electrical tape instead of gaff on the speaker stands. E-tape is cheaper and allows you to save the gaff for taping cables to the floor.
@@jimdunlop4427 OH MY GOSH YES! Cable clips are SOOO much eaiser when you are touring. I am a LD, and when I am attaching pars to mic stands, I always use cable clips. So much easier to take apart, and gaff tape is the worst thing ever. I swear that shit will ruin your life
This is exactly what I'm looking for. I have everything but speakers, but I feel like this setup might help me with something I might have missed. Trying to go from streaming to IRL dj gigs
DJ Tip: If you are using a scrim table cloth & all the cables are showing underneath, I started placing my black speaker or stand bags or even a black box crate to help hide my cables. i just tucked everything in to look elegant & made sure it wouldn't be a problem with the cables.
For some tidying of cables, and for keeping them neat when packing up and storing, I use Velcro cable ties... they work great, and can get 50 for like $4.... one roll is green and one roll is black... working on using the 2.colors to my advantage, like grey for power and DMX, black ones on audio... Thanks for the channel, happy holidays!
Also Running your wires to the front of Dj mixer and down underneath the scrimed table will help keep it neat.. So you may need longer wires or extensions to help reach the distance. Remember not to stress the wires at the connecting points to avoid breakage..
Nice! I’m watching videos because I want to add to my system where I can run a additional system for wedding reception if there is a chill section or pre-reception section where a full DJ system isn’t needed! Thank you! How would you rate that system sound?
My man,Ey I got a question right,do I really need a 5 mixer,cuz I have 2 altos,the facade ,the lights,I just dj for the fiends 😎😎😎 and ai like it,same Controller also,but I see u have the mixer 😟😟 do I need it
Anybody know where I can find those lights? I can't find lights that attach to your speaker poles anywhere. Or do you have to buy a clamp to attach to it or something??
Barr I need to know what type of laptops and dj controllers outthere that is affordable and reliable for first time digital dj finally converting over from cds.thanks for your input
hi dj barr what a cool dj set up two well done dj barr two how do you manage two be a cool dj like me im a cool dj whisheler two so nice us cool djs two so wandafule two what a cool ass dj set up two😊
how does the bass sound on these will this sound good in small hall with high ceilings. I got two Samson Expedition old speakers need to do a small halloween party 150 ppl any recommendations for setup. Need the bass to hit hard. One subwoofer or two for small budget. I have the Rane one what wires would I need??
I'd suggest reusable cable ties. You'd save your gaffa for floor cables. Are you planning on using this set up? Or is it for another dj that works for you?
I’m a mackie thump guy, let me tell ya, another dj who came over one day was actually impressed with the sound quality for the price......and he runs k12.2s. How much are ya gonna want for those 12s?
Gaffers tape is expensive. If your cables can lay flat, a piece of tape tacked to the corner where the floor meets the wall will save you a ton on tape expenses
For some odd reason DMX XLR cables are much cheaper than Microphone XLR. Now that Im into running light shows, I only purchase DMX XLR for both Lights and Audio. Be smart about your investments.
That's a great set up but can I say I've seen in most DJ set ups the equipment is too low! Save yourself years of possible back and hand issues and raise everything up to a better more comfortable level. If you are constantly bending over or leaning over to use the controls or computer (even a little bit) its gonna its got hurt you in the long run. Also if you are constantly looking down you are not eyeing the crowd or dancefloor. Just a suggestion.
Definitely looks better with a facade. I went facadeless this weekend for an impromptu event and man I regretted. Not only would it have looked better but it also helps keep people at a distance...
This is the best video on your channel , i found you because I was searching lights review on you tube for my Brazilian Samba band and now i m addicted lol Te cuida hermanito , e una vez en Canada vamos acer un churrasco ;) Let me know
Velcro straps on the vertical poles would probably be cheaper and look better in the long run vs gaff tape. But you do need the tape for the floor. Last thing you forgot - insurance!! You need insurance in case someone trips on your cables or a speaker falls on a drunk dancer.
I like the clean look with a facade but most of my clients don’t want/like it because they want to see me DJ, with the facade its no show. I’m struggling finding something that works for both, and still is portable. Any tips?
Maybe table with a cover, I use an Ultimate Supports cover for my 5ft table.... it isn't tight and stretch fit like the scrim shown here... and then put your setup inside a flight case with a sliding laptop shelf ... then it can really clean up the look of what is on top of the table. Just my thoughts...
Looks Great with the Facade, a very professional looks. First part with just the table would be used for a bar or some outdoor events where the terrain isn’t even. I would never use my facade in a bar, just to many people enjoying Adult beverages which can end up on the facade, another reason people like to lean on them.
Velcro Cable ties and zip ties for those things to stay tied. You cn also look into the cable covers for items crossing thresholds. Too many options to get that clean look. Effort!!!
Hey Barr why did you say you prefer to go directly into the speaker from the controller instead of from the mixer board? Also how do you keep the cables looking clean from the tape residue? Btw, awesome video! Thanks! Keep them coming!
Gaff tape leaves no residue, that’s why productions use it. You will only get residue if you use cheap tape or introduce heat. Yes I like just using no mixer but, it’s probably not the best way to do itZ
They do make RCA to 1/4 cables that allow you to go from the outputs on a SB3 straight to the speakers. Adding a mixer just gives you around the same type of outputs you would have if you were using a intermediate or professional DJ controller
i thought about the bungee balls...i am using velcro strips right now...need to buy some gaff tape...can you buy that locally ie: Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Home Depot
Really clean setup but the stickers on the speakers for me is a no go (: And with powered speakers you sometimes have an LED light at the front that's lit, I also allways try to turn that off. Even took some tops and subs apart in the past to physically disconnect the LED.
Thanks DJ Barr for sharing a lot of great knowledge to the new DJs starting out. What are your thoughts on the Mackie Thump speakers? I currently own two of the Thump-15A. I find that the highs on the speakers are a little to much when all the EQ knobs on my DJ controller are in the middle. I find myself having to lower the highs knobs slightly.
That moment you realize you said the wrong last name during your Grand Intro, despite already addressing them correctly multiple times and having just looked at their name seconds before the announcement ...... One of the worst feelings ever. It happens. :O I've only done it once and, well, God - it hurt my soul.
I would suggest keeping your cables in a black tote, flip it over and use it to hide the cables under the table. It will clean up that problem area on the cheap.
One I can make that set up way clearer to DJ required rocks the scram all the time or at least as old videos and he made it super clean you do not have to have a façade they look like trash
Before the façade days, I would coil the cables and extensions / plug ins gathered under the table and place them in a small carry bag. Keeps them out of sight and all you may see is a tool bag with wires going into it.

Ty for this lol
a hate a hate = 212345 there
Gonna try this
Good to extend them and unwinding them to allow the inner wires to uncool preventing them from breakage from the stress
all good advice bro, we haven't bought Mackie speakers yet but we like their mixer - ProFX12v3.
The mackie thumps are awesome
How is the ProFX12V3 working for you? I am looking at that as one possibe addition to my gear for some of the events/venues I work in.
I like the idea of using gaff tape but I find that gravity clips and reusable Velcro zip ties work better - they’re reusable, faster to use, and the zip ties are also easily used to tape coiled cables for storage too.
Yep, gaffing on the floor only. Velcro everywhere else. I carry extra velcro ties in the spare accessory bag.

Good job Barr!

Yep Henry I was going to say the same thing. Velcro cable ties stop your cables getting all gummed up with Gaff tape adhesive
I would suggest electrical tape instead of gaff on the speaker stands. E-tape is cheaper and allows you to save the gaff for taping cables to the floor.
Use speaker stand clips!
@@jimdunlop4427 OH MY GOSH YES! Cable clips are SOOO much eaiser when you are touring. I am a LD, and when I am attaching pars to mic stands, I always use cable clips. So much easier to take apart, and gaff tape is the worst thing ever. I swear that shit will ruin your life
Electrical tape is too sticky.
Gravity Clips and Velcro straps that stay in place on the cables and on the stands. 💪😁
This is exactly what I'm looking for. I have everything but speakers, but I feel like this setup might help me with something I might have missed. Trying to go from streaming to IRL dj gigs

I'm glad I found that idea how you can mount your DJ light into a speaker stand pole 4:21
Great video. Just be aware those Mackie 12" Speakers prob get to somewhere around 120db SPL and won't do an outdoor event with more than 40 people.
Are those two lights enough lighting for a house ?
Also Running your wires to the front of Dj mixer and down underneath the scrimed table will help keep it neat.. So you may need longer wires or extensions to help reach the distance. Remember not to stress the wires at the connecting points to avoid breakage..
I love this video!!! I went with the same Mackie thump 15A’s and now added a mackie thump 18 subwoofer.
I’m trying to get into djing huge question sorry if it’s dumb but where does your laptop tie into all this?
The laptop runs the software for the DJ controller to run. Also has the music on it.
Nice! I’m watching videos because I want to add to my system where I can run a additional system for wedding reception if there is a chill section or pre-reception section where a full DJ system isn’t needed! Thank you! How would you rate that system sound?
Where can I get the attachment for the lights to put on the pole? I can't find them anyway. Thanks
My man,Ey I got a question right,do I really need a 5 mixer,cuz I have 2 altos,the facade ,the lights,I just dj for the fiends 😎😎😎 and ai like it,same
Controller also, but I see u have the mixer 😟😟 do I need it
I use a couple of elastic rubber bands on my speaker stands for holding the clamps in place
I have the same setup except the speakers are different (EVs) that I use for house, graduations and other parties. Great video!!
What do you use to set up your controller to be speakers?
Anybody know where I can find those lights? I can't find lights that attach to your speaker poles anywhere. Or do you have to buy a clamp to attach to it or something??
can we use the dj controller for karaoke
Barr I need to know what type of laptops and dj controllers outthere that is affordable and reliable for first time digital dj finally converting over from cds.thanks for your input
I want to be a DJ can I still could be a Dj with out used mixer can I use only party speakers in ipad or laptop. Without a mixer
hi dj barr what a cool dj set up two
well done dj barr two how do you manage two be a cool dj like me im a cool dj whisheler two
so nice us cool djs two
so wandafule two
what a cool ass dj set up two😊
Professional set-up. Nice video 😎🎧

I got two Samson Expedition old speakers need to do a small halloween party 150 ppl any recommendations for setup. Need the bass to hit hard. One subwoofer or two for small budget. you could use ball ties instead of tape for the cables, less messy, less residue etc
How high do you set up your speakers?
I'd suggest reusable cable ties. You'd save your gaffa for floor cables. Are you planning on using this set up? Or is it for another dj that works for you?
Please share how you run the ddj through your Mackie 5
hellomr dj my name is gabreen i had a stroke 2years ago now i play music to survive and all i need is a bass speaker and im asking for your help
for weddings do you have to 18 inch subs or is 15 inch ok to use
No photographer is gonna try to touch that. I can relate! Great video.
Glad to see you knit picking over the cables. It really matters
Hey bro how do u rate as in sound quality of the Msckie Thump 15a?? As a backup for my Ev Zlx 15
Anyone knows whats the best budget bass 12'' speakers for small bar or party without use of subwoofer?
Is the Mac included in the price?
Def not
Omg really? Come on! No
No but you can pick up second hand Macs on ebay relatively inexpensively that will do the job
what should I do if some venues doesn't allow gaff tape
I’m a mackie thump guy, let me tell ya, another dj who came over one day was actually impressed with the sound quality for the price......and he runs k12.2s. How much are ya gonna want for those 12s?
How did you get the lights in front of table to lay flat with the xlr wires coming out the back of them???
Gaffers tape is expensive. If your cables can lay flat, a piece of tape tacked to the corner where the floor meets the wall will save you a ton on tape expenses
What are they speakers
Let's Gooooo!!! Have to go back to work but definitely cant wait to watch this a after work 🔥🔥🔥 #BARRNATION
Mac costs more than the whole set up....lol
Yes 😂
What is MAC?
Macbook pro
For some odd reason DMX XLR cables are much cheaper than Microphone XLR. Now that Im into running light shows, I only purchase DMX XLR for both Lights and Audio. Be smart about your investments.
Professional Presentation. Good Looking
Gaff tape and roll up runners work wonders, I run twin turbo sound IP1000 speakers, light and super loud
Where's your Amp?
That is a dope set up for a beginner DJ. Nevertheless it will be great to find a way to lift the controller a little bit and prevent a backache.
That's a great set up but can I say I've seen in most DJ set ups the equipment is too low! Oh, i think so!
Dj Bar can you do a dj gig log whith this dj system
I need those mackie thumps Dj barr

Hi there! I know this isnt as beginner friendly but I wanted to ask where you get the co2 tanks for the co2 jets. Thanks
Velcro straps on the vertical poles would probably be cheaper and look better in the long run vs gaff tape. But you do need the tape for the floor. Last thing you forgot - insurance!! You need insurance in case someone trips on your cables or a speaker falls on a drunk dancer.

Use an X stand with an x stand scrim. Problem solved.

it would have been nice to see how you connected the wires

The lights are dope 👌 spacial in blue

Gaffer tape is expensive.. I use Zip ties and velcro ties. Also the ties look cleaner than tape.
You can also add scrims for speaker stands...
Enjoyed the video! I use bungee balls for cable management on poles and gaff tape on the floor. Good job!
i thought about the bungee balls...i am using velcro strips right now...need to buy some gaff tape...can you buy that locally ie: Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Home Depot
That jawhn definitely is clean i like the way you run that tape to hide your power wire i got to learn that....nice video (I LIKE)
Love it. I would get rid of the pars for the Chauvet wash fx2...that’s really all you need for lights...dope content bro
Clean setup I still can’t believe Barr bought everything keep it up 🤜🏻
Really enjoying ur vids thanks for your input
I prefere a setup without a fassad. The people can see, how you’re working what they like.
Barr thank you for doing this video for the community. Solid set up and video!
PRO TIP: Speakers… forgo Gaffa Tape and use Black ELECTRICAL TAPE. Much more subtle and easier to use.
Good DJ!!!! 👏👏👏👏
Thanks for the idea.
New subscriber, thanks for the set up idea 💡!!
👍🏼

Pero hay salones que no tedejan usar el tape que porque les vas a dañar la carpeta ohh la pared😏🙉
Love the vid bar keep it up merry Christmas bro
Good work
I like the setup without the façade… letting the crowd see your hand movements, is part of the show!…
Id say make the facade shorter
Me gustan muchos tus vídeos pero me gustaría que considerarías hacer algunos vídeos en español
Hola! Aquí están unos videos míos en español
ruclips.net/p/PLg9ITcKhopcIqX7mTX5SJBhunumuMRS0n
This restless, hectic video may cause epileptic stroke. Calming down and less unnessessary gests could help! Sorry!
Just the speakers and that controller in Canada is more then $1500
Us Canadians get screwed all the time.
cool video , thx
One I can make that set up way clearer to DJ required rocks the scram all the time or at least as old videos and he made it super clean you do not have to have a façade they look like trash
Can you please do another one of these for 3000$ with a sub?
Do you think I should use a facade for outside gigs like a grassy/muddy etc
I have used a facade for outdoor graduation in the grass the stretchy material is washable.
