Good vid Mergim. I am looking for a place to retire in the Philippines. In fact I was there a couple weeks ago. One of the places I looked at is Mactan Newtown. In fact I stayed there a week at the Savoy Hotel. Great accommodations. I found Mactan to be a bit boring. I agree with you Mergim it will be about 5 to 10 years before it is fully developed. The other place I visited was BGC. I can only say is WOW. Many restaurants, bars and things to do. It is very modern and clean. I met you Mergim at the Mitsukoshi at the food court. You were very nice.

      @lionhearted1969 Год назад +6

@Kurt Von....That depends on a person's goal in life. Mactan Newtown may be boring to you, a person who is a city boy. But for people who love nature, Mactan offers a ton of activities to get you up and running with many resorts offer all sorts of water activities such as parasailing, island hopping (Mactan Island group has over a dozen islets to explore), snorkeling/scuba diving (Mactan Island is the pioneer in the country's scuba diving industry with dozens of world-class dive sites), yacht cruising, among others. Besides, mainland Cebu is just 3 bridges away to access more bewildering array of activities from waterfalls hopping (Cebu has close to a thousand waterfalls), leisure driving by car or scooter/moped (Cebu Island is crisscrossed by a huge network of mountain roads), extensive white sand beaches, 9 world-class golf courses, adventure parks, theme parks, water parks, zoological/botanical gardens, aquarium, mountain resorts, hiking trails, biking trails, and access to dozens of scenic mountain peaks, etc.

Great vlog as usual Mergin fun fact Lapu lapu and Magellan integral part of the history of the Philippines, Ferdinand Magellan claim land in the Philippines for the king of Spain April 27 1512, The name Philippines comes from Philip II who was the king of Spain during the 16th century when the country became a Spanish colony.
And Lapu-Lapu is the Philippine's first successful defender of our shores, keep it up stay safe and God bless 🤙

The condo units are very expensive now. I used to see 5M pesos condo units before and they already looked expensive then. The studio units costed 1M to 2M pesos only. Times have changed. Inflation keeps everything go higher and higher.

      There's 2 prices in PI 1 for filipinos & 1 Foreigner's.
I don't believe inflation is the real case although it's part of it. I believe it's foreigners are getting gaffed. If you don't believe that I got a bridge for sale......

I don't believe it. There are to prices the way I see it. Unless it's proven otherwise by having a Filipino goes in with undercover cam & a foreigner going in with cam too. It's human nature & Filipino nature as we can tell foreigners go to by food.
I say bloggers must prove it before they Pitch property. Spending doing this would be much better than walking around PI with the Faces in the camera all the time.😊😅.

These condos are way overpriced it would take a local registered nurse over 300 years of wages to be able to afford one. Most high paid professionals like Engineers are lucky if they make 50k pesos a month. for those guys it would take 200 years of wages. only an idiot would pay over 1-2 million pesos. Better to rent in the phillipines. If you ever plan on reselling this back to someone else you will never get your money back.

Nobody has explained why there are so many Filipinos in the pool?
The pools at Cebu conds are suppose to be for residents. So, either they are getting much lower price, meaning whites pay more or they make alot more money than is said. As I understand it most of Filipinos make maybe $500 a month. The studios alone are about $300 a month leaving them with $200 a month for utilities & food.

really,,,i live in cebu city for 7 years, most of the beaches are not good,,,Brown sand and water no good, if u do live near a good beach there is not many things to do. Mainly tourists at the good beaches, i grew up at the beach in USA. After awhile the beach gets boring, plus ur in the sun all the time. If u live in the city, its a long way to a nice beach in cebu. Most if not all foreigners do not go to the beach that much, i never see foreigners in the water doing activities. Most just come to cebu to sex young girls, i see loser sex foreigners here coming and going on a weekly basis. They rent airbnb for a week or so, sex girls then go home. I would rather live around a nice area with many things to do, the beach gets boring fast.

That's also what I was thinking. Megaworld like to use European sounding names. Why not use a local name? A local name with a very good quality building will even give a better impression of local places. Take BGC for instance which is located in Taguig City. Taguig used to be associated with poverty. Taguig was regarded as the poor neighbor of Makati then. But now, Taguig is viewed at the same level as Makati just because of the rise of BGC.

I would not take a condo in cebu city were you to give it to me for free. Stayed at Solinea near Ayala mall for a month. What a dump. Shoebox 1 bedroom, poor water pressure, poorer hot water. Subpar weak AC, the kitchen did not even have a stove. My wife and I ended up buying a house in the suburb of Tungkil. 3 large bedrooms, 2 baths with room to add an additional bedroom and bathroom. 108,000$ A " premier condo" in IT Park was asking almost 200k for a 1 bedroom with less than 1/3 the space i currently have. Condos here are a ripoff. If you are an expat married to a Filipina, buy a good house in the suburbs. Or rent one if you are single. We take a cab into cebu city malls about 10x a month. The round trip cab fare is cheaper than a monthly car payment and the expenses that come with owning a car.

Condo living is convenient but for that kind of money you can easily buy a 3+br single family home.

I would say condos are in the Philippines are too expensive compared to Malaysia and Thailand. The prices are almost similar to Singapore but with better location and amenities.

So you're saying that Cebu doesn't have better location and amenities? I've been to Singapore and I say the place is too claustrophobic and the place isn't even that clean.

@@iananthonywangan8371 Metro Cebu is filthy, traffic, and polluted. You must be talking about the HDB units in Singapore? Lol Private developers around Marina Bay, Tanjong Pagar, Dhoby Ghaut, are worlds apart compared to Cebu or even the ones in BGC. Philippine properties are downright overpriced.

@@iananthonywangan8371 i just been to Cebu last February and March and the awful traffic in mandaue was still the name. If you wanna go to 5 star hotels in Mactan, you'll pass thru the roads of illegal settlers/poor neighborhood. The only time Cebu can compete with Singapore is the exorbitant property prices. Lol

I spent 2 months here. Did not see a Beach. They said you could walk a couple of miles. ( which I am not doing through a crappy neighborhood) I looked at several condo units. They were all OLD and Smelly. The location is nice. But BORING. nothing to do.
