    I've been looking at buying a G27 now for a while and like you, I don't think clamping to the desk is good enough. I'm not a craftsman like you but you killed it with the wood work and have me thinking about ways to make my own station. Props to you.

    I know it's been said before, but this looks a lot like a Ricmotec RS1 cockpit. But turned up to 11! I just bought the plans for the RS1 and I am TOTALLY modifying it to accommodate the adjustable wheel deck. Also gonna see if I can modify your pedal deck design to allow for further adjustment. INSANELY AWESOME BUILD my friend and, might I say, I am totally jelly of your workshop!!

    now that is a homemade stand, not like the other videos with crappy ones found on youtube. Looks very expensive, i bet between 100-150 dollars but totally worth it, it came out amazing

    • @RobHoffmann20
      @RobHoffmann20  8 лет назад

      Da.shArk87 the material cost was about that, I dident see that being too expensive. my goal was not to make something that was an eye sore. it's currently set up in my home office. I could have made things more cost effective on the build, and made a few alterations but I'm happy overall with the end result. thanks for watching I appreciate it.
      cheers

    Great work! I started my first (very crude) cockpit build using wood, too, but lacking your skills and tools the next one had to be full aluminum.

      @@mikehaifa8067 I would likely build a mount for them and ensure it's fixed to the rig. perhaps also adjustable like the steering would be wise. best of luck with your build!

      I believe i got it from Summit racing. It's a cheap seat for a reason i was considering buying some for my car but after ordering that one ive realized you get what you pay for. For a sim that's a good seat

    Lucky to have that girlfriend who inspired you to do the rig. Well done, it's a good job, simple yet sturdy and well finished. Great tooling at your shop, maybe you can make it more productive taking orders for similar base. How much would you charge for a dozen? But need to be enhanced, I will give you the details offline.

      richy69uk Might look similar but I defiantly didn't see or buy any plans from them. I saw a picture of the rig they offer... that's about it everything else was done on the fly. Only catch with this set up is when you wanna move it around it has to be taken apart to fit through the doors. I still haven't fully reassembled it since I moved.

      @RobHoffmann20  7 лет назад +1

      Josh Lepley Thanks Josh, the whole build was custom for me. If I was going to do it again I would likely build it on s smaller footprint. This one is great but it's larger than required. Good luck with building your SIM. Enjoy!

      im a handy man myself. used to do electrical as well lol. should be very easy. best part is the sliding wheel base. i would of already built one but yea.... wasnt sure on the size i wanted. i built a hyperspin cab if youre familiar with that. it turned out bad ass!!

    • @RobHoffmann20

    • @adamperkins3125
      @adamperkins3125 9 лет назад +1

      +Duan Dao There's 2 pieces of wood, the bottom one has grooves in it and the top one has bolts passing throught it and the bottom one which will then be locked in place with the nuts on the underneath of the bottom piece. That's what it seems like to me anyway ;)
      Edit: Actually you can see what I mean at the 13:45 mark.

    • @RobHoffmann20
      @RobHoffmann20  9 лет назад +1

      take a look at 13:05 - 14:00. you get a clear shot of the base with the routed slots. the wheel mounting table sits on top of that with the bolts passing through the slots. i used a bolt and a larger wing nut so it's easy to lock into position.

      David Norris I believe it's a 32" TV. of course any monitor or TV could be used. I may switch it out for a 50" I picked up not long ago. but it's not very high on the priority list

      +RobHoffmann20 It looks a lot like the Ricmotech RS1. Are you sure that you made these plans?

    • @RobHoffmann20
      @RobHoffmann20  9 лет назад

      SenseiGhostly yep, made my templates first to get an idea of the size. Then started putting it all together. Honestly if i was to make another one i would change a few things. I'm happy with it overall but there is room for some improvements. Maybe one day I'll build another one.

    • @SenseiGhostly
      @SenseiGhostly 9 лет назад

      I may make one of these aswell becuase I found the plans on Ricmotech's website.

    • @RobHoffmann20
      @RobHoffmann20  9 лет назад

      +SenseiGhostly i wouldn't want to pay for someone else's design if i can just make my own. check out the 2nd video where i go over my measurements. if you have the RS1 plans compare mine to theirs. I'll bet nothing matches lol.

    I was looking at building something like this that will do both flight and driving. I like your idea being able to move the wheel back and forth I was thinking about making something where the driving pedals are upside down and the rudder pedals are on the bottom. Here is my flight setup it was just a basic setup. i.imgur.com/Ia8heUM.jpg
