Lazy Tutorial #8! For lazy people by lazy people.
So, you can do it without, in the way shown in the video, but the BoolTool addon makes it just one hotkey, and it's fantastic.
you made me realise that i focus too much on details that no one will be able to see anyway
Add a focal point on your camera, do detailing in that area, and spend less and less time on unfocused areas. Works wonders for making it seem like a detailed environment.
@@jco_sfm Oh thats smart! Thanks!
@@jco_sfm That's super smart!
The story of my life
Adding those details that "no one will see" can show that you are dedicated to your work, and if it's ever broken down and analyzed, the person who did so will have his mind blown. Why? Because almost everything you see is created with this mindset.
On the other hand, making a highly detailed environment may make you seem irresponsible with time.

This comment took longer to read than watching the video. 😂
Oh thank god. I couldn't watch the whole thing.
That's peak of laziness. You can't go further.
This tutorial is quicker than actually using a nuclear warhead to create an apocalyptic city.

The good thing of this tutorials is that you also have to think on your own a bit cause all the other tutorials explain every step so that you dont learn anything
Never stop this series
Never thought I'd like to think. Especially with 3d. There's too many variables and possibilities that I get overwhelmed but this video was so helpful I mean I can use it for scenes. Idk about game play
Depends a lot on what you want to learn. This tutorial might inspire some creative use of tools, but it won't tell you where in the UI those tools are or how to make them work.
The one blender tutorial creator I don't have to put at 2x speed 🙌

Your tutorials are obviously not for total beginners, but they are packed with so much tips and ideas in a so short time and sprinkled with humor... Thank you for your vids!
What are you talking about? I just learned how to use blender yesterday and now Im a master thanks to him. His tutorials are perfect.
@@Geth270 Well... "Total beginner" is that yes. If you don't know a little bit how Blender works, I guess it's a little bit hard to follow. You need to know how to move/scale/rotate things, understand the modifiers and how to set up them, etc. I don't say it's complicated, but that it's not a tutorial for someone who never had Blender in his or her hands that's it :)
It wasn't a critique, just a notice.
@@Random_dud31 Glad you understand Blender that fast, (and that now you are a master of it, kudos) But for following the tutorial you need to know Blender a little. It is not complicated, just that someone who look at that without knowledge of Blender UI may find it hard to follow.
It wasn't a critique, just a notice and I guess that the author know that perfectly :)

Love your work! As a 12 year Blender vet I can't do Blender tutorials these days because they always start over from the basics instead of just getting to the concepts and the killer-tips. One minute, BOOM! Done! No 3 minutes of a 40 minute tutorial learning to press the E to extrude for the 400th time.

I don't know if Ian saw this sudden blast in popularity coming cuz he definitely has enough riding on to open up a Patreon or something which can fund his bigger vfx projects like Dynamo and new stuff because he already has enough talent in his crew to make vfx, music, good cast, great practical set/production design skills and the personality to top it all off.

Seeing you make super rushed assets that still turn out awesome is giving me confidence to not obsess over parts of my projects that nobody will see or scrutinize for very long. That's a skill that usually takes years to acquire, but you're teaching it in < 1 min videos. Thanks Ian!

Exactly. I am working on an post apocalyptic project. And this really really helped me.
Are you kidding? You're simply trading detail for time here. Don't fool yourself.

@@randomuser66438 Except you can get 80% of production quality with 20% of the work, and this guy helps you achieve that.
@@xXJulensolo2Xx That ratio is highly debatable.
That scene doesn't look 80% production quality at all, and I'm not even speaking as a CGI artist because I'm not one.
To my layman eyes, that scene is worth of a mid-2000s game and nothing more.

You sir have mastered laziness, I love it, I really gotta try and learn this stuff
I've learnt more about Blender/CG from these short bursts than years of hour long tutorials. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Please keep this up!
Thought at first that this channel is a joke. But no, this channel is pure gold!
