She was sickly, and I took her to a vet; she suffered from hair loss, vomiting, weight gain, and fleas, and she was already an older cat with the bottom of her paws cracking. We kept her inside with full-time love and care. We had her for 14 years, but she must have been around 10 years old when I found her, so I assume she lived to be about 20-24 years old in total. There were moments I felt so sad for her, unable to even jump onto the couch to stare at what I’m eating. She even looked like she was having difficulty walking and breathing at a later stage. Best cat we ever had. ❤
We got Mac, our Chantilly at 18 months old. 3 months later we introduced Hiro, a tabby cat who was only 3 months old. Mac basically adopted him as his son and was a brilliant Dad. They still love each other very much 18 months later.
I have a Chantilly-Tiffany that is now eight years old. He is a very handsome, smart, patient and calm cat. He knows when I am busy, but when he wants my attention he gently pats me with is paw. I love talking with him and we have conversations all the time. when working in the yard he follows me around, finds a cool spot and watches me work. He carries a little sponge ball with him and keeps himself busy with it. Great little companion.
Yep I got one of those, he's always lurking around somewhere. He is a very good but very needy boy, he demands attention, and pays it back with love and purring.

My husband and I are retired and we lost our fur baby about two years ago . .we were at Peace and decided it was time for another fur baby . .my husband and I looked and looked and behold we found this very shy little black and brown kitten about 3 1/2 months old in a foster home . . We adopted him and soon he was running around playing with us and everything in site ! We are amazed at how smart he is ! He finches and taught us how to do a little dance he does . .but we still did not know what he was until I happen to be looking at Pinterest one night and there he was . .our kitten . .a Chantilly ! Wow ! We were blown away ! We are sooooo Blessed with him . .we gave him a big name for the Royal little man he is . . Sebastian Thomas . . believe me it fits ! Now he is a healthy 8 month old ! I found mine abandoned under a trailer as a kitten, she is 2 now and is the most awesome cat I've owned. Her coat is so soft and silky and barely sheds, she is so loving and friendly, highly recommend this breed.
oh god don’t even get me started on the hair matting, our chantilly is a indoor and outdoor cat but he looves to spend time outside in the snow during winter, so we see him so little that we sometimes forget to brush him and with his thick winter coat coming in it mats very easily, but he lays down on his back and lets us brush the mats out so maybe he likes it ? lol
My Chantilly is called Mac and he is literally in love with me. He kisses, licks my nose, headbutts and rolls over on command for me. I sometimes think that he thinks I’m a cat, but sometimes he looks at me and his eyes look human. I’ve lived with 10 cats in my life and he definitely has the most character and personality of any cat I’ve seen. Also the loyalist, most dog like cat imo.
I'm not entirely sure if mine is a Chantilly-Tiffany, or at least pure bred. She has that grey soft furry belly, and she loves to talk to me, but is not a big fan of being held. She has to come to me on her own.
They are indeed needy. High demand cats. Very intelligent; loves to play. Well adapted to our environment. Walks with you. Can get separation anxiety, so she comes with me. Loves people but not other pets. She is a land race race, Indigenous to northern New York State ans Southern Ontario. Often they show up at someone's house and just stay. Phenomenal jumper; total show off.😂
I have had 2 of these from shelters( one is alive the other died at 17.5) thank you for telling me what kind of cats they are, everyone told me Maine coon or British longhair. I don't care but the wrong names never helped.

I think I've finally figured out what type of cat I have. The vet and people in general tell me she's just a medium haired black domestic but her hair doesn't really add up to being just a black cat. She's the softest cat I've ever felt, she's got a black face but her body looks brown and she has long hair coming out of her toes and she gets the name around her neck and armpits in a grey/brown colour. She also has a spot of white fur at the end of her belly. She acts so much like a dog, being so needy and always licking me. I rescued her but then I met my husband and she became his favourite. She still will be around me and wants belly rubs if she's alone. Thank you Google lens for finally figuring out what kind of cat she is because just a black cat doesn't describe her 😸
Like you I am beginning to think that the girls I adopted are Chantilly-Tiffany's. The description of your cat completely matches one of mine (black face but brownish body, tufts on her toes and ears, soft as cotton, etc.). Her sister looks like her with the exception that she is a tuxedo cat. They are both sweet as sugar (especially the black/brown one).
I’m pretty sure my cat is a Chantilly. He fits all of these characteristics except that he only snuggles with me and no one else in my home. And he only snuggles in my room and never in any other location.

If you want one, check shelters in the area. The 'tell' is a lighter colored ruff and belly; slightly almond shaped eyes, and trilling.
I just have one at home, really a lovely cat, very friendly with smooth cost. Very happy to have it.

They certainly aren't a breed of antiquity of the cat fancy, even Ragdolls predate the Chantilly Tiffany.
