Which of these facts about tabby cats did you find the most interesting? 🐈 *** EDIT TO ADD: To address the several comments pointing out the spelling error in #10... yes, we know how to spell "popular." No, it was not done on purpose. It was simply a typo that got overlooked... C'mon guys... it happens! MOL (meow out loud). 😹
@@susanscott3333 My cat looked like a silver mackerel tabby when he was a kitten, but now he is more of a grey classic tabby with brown points. (He still has more stripes than spots or blotches.)
Can you figure out what was the first cat brought to the island of Newfoundland? Or if not, then the first documented cat here? 😃Cheers from Newfoundland
I grew up with dogs and cats . I’m now 80 and for the last 7 years I’ve been living with a tabby, my first. She is the most empathetic cat I’ve ever had. She’s grey, short haired and her name is KIT of course she gets called KIT CAT and she is a rescue and the love of my life!🐈
I had a cat Kit she has been stolen (this bothers me) anyway I called her kit the lioness mostly I called her kit.I miss her greatly I'll bet she misses this place also it is outdoors here she is lightning fast, small yet climes to great height's. Another cat learned a few things from her like how to jump. Hide and seek was one of her favorite games or it was men's of survival. She actually would rather know if a stray came on the property first to avoid being spotted first. I do miss Kit the lioness.
I have a tabby grey and brown boi, almost 10 mths. He is so friendly towards all humans, and other cats. Sometimes we take care of my daughters black ghost tabby, and he is really a scaredy-cat. But they love each other. As soon as they get together they are on a roll. But my daughters cat do NOT want anyone to touch him without clear consent. My gray tabby is allowed.
I've had cats for probably 60 of my 71 years. Our 2nd and 3rd cats, one male and one female, (didn't have them at the same time) were 7 toed tabbies and they weighed in at around 15-18 pounds (they were big but not FAT cats). Those 2 cats were the most friendly and affectionate cats we ever had (of about 15 to 20). My younger brother and I would put a towel in our bike baskets and those silly cats would lay on their BACKS as we rode our bikes through the neighborhood! They were the best cats I ever had. I still miss them after 50+ years.
I've had them a long time too. I'm 55 and I've not been without a cat for long in my life. I went for 3 years after my last cat because I was so brokenhearted, and the 2 I have right now are ones I rescued from my street-I took them in. They are brother and sister but the sister I got later and she was completely feral. I'm convinced the only reason I got to touch her was because I have her brother. She lives in the house now and is much less feral, pretty normal now and they are doing fantastic. Now we have a racing pigeon too. lol. Thats cool you had 7 toed cats!!!They sound like they were fun kitties ❤ They are all so different-my last one was such a great hunter-I wont let my 2 out now...😻such great animals, I'm so grateful for them.
Rolland, I have had dogs and cats all of my 71 years! Now however I am the stereotypical LOL (that's little lady) with her cats, whom I push around in their stroller as in thumbnail!
@@beckyburtis9977 LOL. That sounds so sweet. I've given up owning pets. Too hard to have to put them down.I held my last kitty for over five hours while she died in my arms. That is the hardest thing I have ever done and don't want to experience ever again. She was 15 years old.
My tabby boy is the most affectionate, bestest boy alive. The rare times he gets annoyed with me, like if I don't put his dish down fast enough, he says ACK!
Wild born Stripey 👖 here (avatar) aka Dennis the Menace in fur, is extremely physically affectionate, almost beyond the point of enjoyment into the "please can we not jam yourself under my chin, I have to work for a bit". She's also vocal like your boy, but says hhnnrff a lot.
My tabby can be quite antisocial and aggressive. I put him on tablets to calm his aggression lol but I wouldn't change him. Love hurts, and I'm a sucker for punishment 😊
Had to put down our Kiwi Kumar in Nov and I still cry everyday. He was a mackerel tabby 18 yrs old! I called him my comforter because he always was there for me. Sweetest kitty.
so sorry for your loss... although you can't replace your kitty, i know you would make a great person for another kitty! you aren't betraying your lost fur baby...
So sorry. That's the only bad thing about having pets. They leave too early no matter how long we have them. Your kitty will be waiting for you on the.other side of the Rainbow Bridge.🌈
We just adopted my tabby kitten two days ago and we named her Luna! She is just the sweetest, most affectionate little thing. We are in love with her already. 💗
In my experience, every Tabby cat that's ever adopted me as their Human was very social with family. Some less so with outsiders, but all had big, wonderful personalities. Perhaps that's just coincidence, but each one had unconditional love that has been so wonderful to be on the receiving end of. :)
Grey tabbies with classic or mackerel coat patterns are my favorite. When I was a kid, the family cat was a grey tabby who lived to be about 20. And last summer, my husband found a grey tabby kitten crying in the brush near the end of our driveway, so he is our cat now. It’s amazing how well-camouflaged he is when he is outside. He can be crouching in the shade only a few feet away, and we overlook him.
Our first cat was a red mackerel male we had named Runaway (no, we don't know if he had ever had runaway before). He came into our lives one Christmas Eve when he was four months old. To confirm that tabbies are intelligent, he was outside our front door one day, and then the next day he was in our backyard. The day after that he was again by our front door! We've had him for 12 years until some illness had sent him across the Rainbow Bridge. He absolutely ADORED my dad (I think it was gratitude because he had wedged himself in our window screen that Christmas Eve and couldn't get out), and he tolerated everyone else. He also liked to walk around with a sock in his mouth making trilling sounds, catching bugs and mice (he kindly left us his "presents"), and learned to open doors. *sighs* How I miss him to this day...
I got my kitty in a rare litter. She's one of the few orange females, but in her litter of three, both her and her sister were little peaches and cream orange tabbies and the male in the litter was solid black. I got so lucky with her, she's the friendliest, most social and affectionate cat I've ever seen.
I’ve only ever had three cats. My first cat was a brown tabby. She was very extroverted, always expressive and affectionate. She LOVED to hunt! Definitely a big personality. My second cat was a tortoiseshell. She was very introverted, very shy very quiet. Almost never made a sound. She’d only be affectionate with me and she ignored everyone else. She was also very passive-aggressive, not biting or scratching to show displeasure but doing things like peeing on an article of clothing that belonged to whoever she was mad it. My third cat was a black kitty. Feral. It took her four years to warm up to me, but when she did she wanted to be in contact with me 24/7. She wanted to snuggle under my chin all the time. She was quick-tempered, though, and would go from sweet to angry if the slightest thing bothered her. My husband, who was never around cats before he met me, never know that cats could have such different personalities. He was shocked at how different my first two were from each other.
I have three feral short-haired grey tabby kittens and they are great ! I've had at least one cat in my family my entire life, of many different breeds, including Persians... and these 3 grey tabby kittens are amazing, Loving , affectionate, smart, talkative, sensitive and very funny. They will be 4 years old in a couple months and haven't changed except for their size.. Each has their own unique personality of course. The one girl kitty is a small cat and her fur is still as soft as a kitten. No kidding ! It really is. The two brothers are typical brothers. They hang out together, play together, look out for each other, still like to wrestle. Sometimes they like to pick on their sister though, but she'll let them have it if need be. I'll step in if needed...but it usually isn't. They are a gift from God.
My 2 tabbies are very affectionate. While I was away on a 2-week trip, they were very social with their caregiver. When I got home today, instead of ignoring me, they spent all day taking turns to cuddle with me, putting their heads near my neck and purring. I've had calico and tortie cats, but these tabbies are the sweetest.
My little tabby boy was my buddy all the way. It's been 2 years since I lost him & im really lost without him. He was a bit disabled because he'd been thrown from a window of a moving car when very young. I adopted him & he was always so grateful for everything he i gave him., every toy, bed, treat. His tail was half the length of normal & so not sure what other breed he was. I couldn't have asked for a better buddy. I miss him so very much.
@@floridaevans1086 Awww..thank you. A couple of months ago a little black stray kitty adopted me. My neighbor named her Mystery since no one knows where she came from. I made a deal with her that she could stay & come & go all she wanted to as long as she left my kitty boy's stuff alone. His stuff is still right where he left it as I just don't have the heart to put it all away. She's kept up her end of the bargain & leaves everything alone & I let her come & go & feed her. Some mornings she actually gets under my covers & we have a love session for 15 minutes. She's an awesome cat.
I love cats and cannot live without them. In 2 years we lost 3 of our elderly cats..18 and 19 years old. They went peacefully and with dignity.😿 We have 2 left and I feed a stray black one outside that come Fall I will get her vet checked and bring her in...I 🙏 they all get along. The outside cat I named Tiki is not feral anymore..lets me hold and pet her. It's amazing how cats know kind people.
Lost our cat in a tuxedo last fall. Died when we were on vacation. 14 years old. I felt so bad for the pet sitter. We just adopted a tabby about 8 months old. Wife's co-worker was giving it away. Fun to see a cat having it's mad 5 minutes again! Fun to have a cat interact with toys again!
I have not had any cats that were mackerels, but many of them have been sharks. That's what we'd call it when they were pacing around with their tail held up while trying to get food, "sharking".
My 14 year old tabby passed away last year. He was the most gentle but fun cat. He loved everybody. If you came over you were his best friend. He also would growl when he heard anyone approaching the door and he always sat next to me when anyone he didn’t know came over. He was def protecting me. He followed me everywhere. He would actudlly walk to the mailbox with me and back. I miss him so much
I recently got a tabby. I got him from work, since I would feed him and him family, but unfortunately, due to various things, his mom and siblings died. He would come to me and cuddle me so I took him home. He's pretty social, but not near as cuddly as my ragdoll I have. He's a good cat, but needs to learn to not to wake me at 4 am lol.
with my Ziggy cat, I've learned to give him a little snack and a cuddle just before bedtime, then shut my bedroom door and tun on my white noise machine😊
My baby is a tabby. He is hands down the best cat I've ever had in my life, and I have had cats every day of my life since I was born over 58 years ago. He is also the friendliest cat I've ever encountered! His stripes are hard to see as the brown/black/gray portions of his fur are very marled, but he's likely a mackerel. Didn't know there were different names for the markings on top of the name "tabby" indicating a stripey cat.
We just found a tiny little 5 week old tabby in our bush today. We named him Simba and he's the cutest little guy ever. He's perched on my shoulder sleeping right now.
I had a ginger tabby named Simba also,,,lost him in 2013, he was just 13 years & also ginger tabby that I found in my garage & had to bottle feed him for 5 weeks, his name was Leo & he passed away just after turning 13,,, will be 4 years in October,,,,I still get chocked up & tears, I miss him so much,,sheesh now I have tears streaming down my face 😢
I recently got two gray tabbies back in August and they are the sweetest, most tolerant, most gentle cats ever! They just turned 1 year old back in April and we named them Daphne and Velma (after the Scooby Doo characters). They interestingly have different fur patterns, Daphne has a traditional tabby cat pattern while Velma has a spotted tabby pattern. Daphne is a bit introverted and only really hangs out with me, but Velma is IMMENSELY extroverted and will basically love on everyone and will let you pick her up and snuggle her at any time.
The first cat I had that I remember as a small child was a tabby. We went to the local pound, and I personally picked her out. She was a quite timid, quiet kitty, so I named her Shadow- she was afraid of everything including her shadow. (I thought it was a good name when I was 7 years old). A great kitty she was for me. She’d sleep at the foot of my bed at night, till I fell asleep. I lost her to our St. Bernard, who acted on instinct and bit her when she tried to run past him outside. Really traumatic for me, as I saw it happen. I’ll always have an extremely soft spot for tabbies.
I have rescued and raised abandoned kittens for years. I currently have four cats; one of which is a brown tabby named Donovan. He is the first tabby cat I have owned and by far the most cuddly and friendly. He is also the first tabby cat I have owned.
Our Tabby cat was adorable. Named Larry after Larry the Cable Guy (whom my Dad, for some reason, thought he resembled 🤷) , our monstrous ball of love grew to be over twenty pounds and one of the fastest eaters in our house. He was an absolute darling to any guest that came around, purred immediately and noisily, and shed his ginger fur like no tomorrow. Our family loved him for over twelve years, coming up with wacky nicknames for him and giving him all the love in the world. Cats are king!
My tabby cat lived to be 19 years and 3 months. I got him when he was just 3 months old. He always came when I called him. He let me carry him around with me. And he would sit right alongside me to watch tv. He was smart and figured out our other cat could not hear. This would give him an advantage in hide and seek. He was wonderful and very affectionate always. He like to head butt your face and hands. He was a smuggler and enjoyed his life.
my tabby girl Stella is such a big cuddle bug! She is 12 and still kneads into me like a kitten. We have 2 other cats an all black and a flame point. The tabby is the most outgoing & confident of them by far.
I miss my Luis 😢 He wasn't a tabby but he sure was the best friend I could ever have. He died a month and a half ago and it broke my heart. Now I have a sweet little tabby called Eddie. It's not a replacement and my heart is still broken, but having a cat is good for you and them. I hope you also have another friend.
@@ggez330 I’m sorry for your loss. Luis sounded like such a sweet little boy. I have three sweet kitties that fill my life up Sophie, Rose and Smudge. None will replace Theon of course but they are all very special and I love them unconditionally and they help me.
Tabby cats are such beautiful cats and have the best purr-sonalities! A huge and gorgeous brown tabby came to us through a neice because even though he was loved in her neighborhood he wasn't allowed in anyone's home. We think a university student had him and when they finished the cat was left behind or got lost. He would cry at my neices window when it rained but her rental had a clause stating no cats allowed due to his allergies. She'd sneak him in but got caught a few times and couldn't afford to move. That's why he ended up here. In no time Tommy became known as the neighborhood cat. He's friends with everyone and gets spoiled with treats and love from people who never ever had a cat. Only thing with this furtastic fellow is- he's got to be Top cat and would beat up our other rescues...well, the people across the street have no cats but love him and treat him like a king. He mostly lives there now but visits us regularly as well as his other human friends. We wish we could of kept him in but he's a free spirit...such a smart guy. He insured he'd always have food by making lots of friends! I only wish he was more faithful but have to let him be free. It sure would be interesting to equip him either one of the wildlife cameras to watch him on his daily travels....best Tabby there is!
My mask and mantle tabby is very shy around people... he's a rescue who experienced abuse after his person crossed. The female I used to have was a traditional tabby and she was more extroverted and friendly, but also a rescue.
I recently adopted 2 tabby cats, litter mates and twins as well, I kept them together as they get along so well, mine are mackerel patterned, they have everything they need, life wouldn't be the same without them
Most of these facts just helped confirm my knowledge. In regards to the M marking - my youngest tabby has white marking on his nose and forehead. This means the white marking looks like it is obscuring the M. I have to agree that a Tabby is generally sociable - maybe it's because a group of cats do have definite ways to socialise. This could connect back to their ancestors. My older tabby has mackerel markings - with a broad circular marking that matches on both sides. He has always got along with other cats but is more cautious with people - yet he has always been cuddly & affectionate with myself. Can definitely agree about the intelligence of most tabbys I've encountered.
Tabbies are beautiful - and silky. There's also one at 10 Downing Street (UK Prime Ministerial Residence) and Number 10 always has a cat. Their cats have been given the official title of Chief Mouser which means they can't be removed as they are officially on staff. LOVE THAT!! The Brits love their moggies. 🥰
When my tabby boy got lost¹ last summer, I only had a "head on" photo for the "missing" poster, but included a tomb painting of a Mau to show what his coat looked like from the side! ¹ Got him back after *six weeks!*
I had a large orange tabby when I was a kid, he came to us as a stray and just took up there. Kind of a neighborhood cat. Mostly lived with us, but begged food of the neighbors too. Mr. Gentle, Mr. Nice guy. May have been part Maine Coon. He had a heavy winter coat, and grew a mane in the winter. He didn't keep himself fastidiously clean like most cats, and we had to bathe him and cut matted fir out. He loved being cuddled, a little girl across the street, was picking him up by his front paws, he didn't care, he was rubbing his face against hers. When I picked him up, he went completely limp and made no effort to hold himself up. You ended up with an 18 pound sack of cat. His goal in life, to be a lap kitty. Now we have another orange tabby, weighs around 10 lb. We rescued him from the shelter. They said his name was Bentley. After my wife signed the papers and paid the fee, the shelter worker, told her, he's been through here before, those other families thought he was a little too "rambunctious." The first two days we had him he mostly laid on her shoulder and purred. Day three, she heard a loud noise as an orange streak flew through the house and collided with the range in kitchen, then turned around and charged back the other way, colliding with something in the back room, then attacks the other cat. Later on he intimidated a 150 lb German Shepherd, and established his place as the alpha pet. Sometimes he runs through the house at high speed and making as much noise as he can, I tell the family that he morphed into Thunder Paws. Other times I've seen him move even faster and not make a sound.
Aw, my last two cats have been tabby cats. Peppermint lived to be 16 and was the sweetest, gentlest cat I've ever known. She loved everybody and put up with a lot of clumsy child hands over the years, accidentally poking her, with good grace. OTOH, I just went to check my 15 year old boy Leo to see if he was a classic tabby, a spotted tabby or a mackerel tabby and got clawed for my trouble (in his defense, I accidentally woke him). Pretty sure he's a classic tabby, like Peppermint. When I first got him just last year, he had a nervous habit of biting his fur out...for a while, I was calling him "The Shabby Tabby". Thankfully he's stopped doing that, and his coat looks much better now.
I'm here with my Henry (Mackerel), I call the stripes around his arms bracelets and am amazed at how both arms have the exact same stripes on either side. He also has a couple of 'necklaces' too! Henry is an excellent hunter, bringing home mice and rats. I often find headless mice in my shower receptacle, Henry being the smart lad he is, takes them in there where they can't escape. I don't like it as I love all animals but he's a hunter..... We have the same birthday and at almost 8 he still kneeds on me like a kitten when we snuggle! Love him to bits. ᓚᘏᗢ
We have a Tabby and she is quite the diva, very fussy eater and is only now opening up with a bit of spoiling. We have a dog too and she is getting old. The cat knows this and is starting to shift in behaviour, she often boxes the dog now and is unafraid. She also headbutts me when I am trying to feed her. I have never seen her so affectionate she is like a new cat. Just needed a bit of love.
I'm happy you included the Mary legend, that is so sweet. I agree they can be good at camouflage, sometimes they can be lying near me and I can't see them since they blend into the background but they are quick to tell me they are there when I say their name.
Nice show, I just adopted a pair of tabby cats that are litter mates, can't tell them apart, as long as I have them they will be together, they get lots of love and care from me
I love ❤️ your show because I get to see all the flurries, I find satisfaction in knowing something you show and, learning information I didn't know. Thankyou ✨️😻🙏
I've got a mackerel. He is the smartest cat I've ever had. I can show him something I want him to do and after once or twice he's learned it. He is also very good at teaching me things, too.😊
My tabby cat boy is obsessed with me and also my husband. He is very affectionate and loving, he also is very curious meeting new people and friendly to new people as well. All around good boy ❤
The most interesting part for me was the different patterns on the coat, that was the first time I have heard that. My boy is very cuddly with me but not so much with my sons and he definitely is a great hunter and he is very active and vocal about how he feels.
Wow I just learned that my new kitty is a tabby! She has a definitive “M” on her forehead and the most adorable little stripey paws! Thanks for another interesting vid!
Orange tabby here! He is seriously the most extroverted and confident cat I have ever seen in a cat! And that's saying something as I grew up with a lot of cats haha!!! I swear though he has ADHD, as he may be affectionate at one point and then get all "rawr!!" In like 10 seconds haha! Also a bit impulsive and loves his kibble (a bit too much, he inhales the stuff) but, he is very afraid of loud noises!! 🤣 and his own shadow! He's a funny cat, he loves when people come in to his home, but when he's not in his home (apartment building, he's a runner, he loves to escape) he will hear/see people in the lobby and will RUN back inside the door!!! Also, the slightest thing falling makes his tail go poof!! He's a funny weirdo!
@@bunnie680 haha I do agree there!! My boy also is scared of littles! He seen a baby today and his tail went poof!!! 🤣🤣 awww silly scared little confident boy!!
I've had cats as animal companions since I was child. Four total and fully dedicated to them. My first was "Snowball" (all white) lived to about 7-8 yrs.old (passed away of cancer), then (on separate occasions) I rescued two tuxedo cats. My longest relationship "Rageous" (17.5yrs old) and shared custody with "KingPin" (11yrs.), both have since passed away. My experience, I see Tuxedos tending to have a playful witty personality. Definitely characters in their own right, possibly @thepurringjournal having a tuxedo cat for its logo representative. 👍😉 🐾🐾 My current feline companion is my first Tabby cat, "Spirit". He was a rescue from the neighborhood and we crossed paths the week Calif. went into lockdown. He is now 5yrs.old, has strong hunting instincts, and tends to have a protective nature over things. Quite sociable and can be vocal at times and sleeps with me when the temps cool down. Primarily indoors, he does go outside with his harness and under my supervision. Honestly, I feel "Spirit" is an amalgamation of previous feline companions. He seems to share qualities from each of them. 🐾🐾😺 Thank you for sharing this.
Grew up with cats and by far the friendliest cat was always our brown tabbies (all three were mackerel). Outgoing, never skittish when company came over, and got along great with the dog. And they definitely lived up to the hunting expectation; all left some...interesting finds on the back patio.
My tabby about 5 years old. Converting her to an indoor cat. She will bring her stuffed yellow carrot toy and leave it at our bedroom door most mornings. So cute! And I prefer that to previously alive gifts!
Eek, yes! I called Mr Kitty the great striped hunter. He regularly displayed rows of 4 - 6 mice nicely lined up on the patio as well as tasty nutritious(!?) assorted varmints thoughtfully brought in to the kitchen. 😂
Number 6 is absolutely 100% no doubt spot-on! My American shorthair tabby, Castiel, is an excellent hunter. No matter where I hide my yarn he manages to flush it out and drag it out all over the house! 😂
We have 9 cats, all rescues. Of the 9, we have 2 blacks, 2 torties (1 a dilute tortie/manx), 5 tabbies, a gray and white classical tabby, a gray classical tabby, a ginger and white classical tabby, a ginger mackeral tabby and a ginger ticked tabby. Our babies range in age from 8 years to 2 years. They're a handful but we can't imagine life without them.
Very interesting and enjoyable video…all the cats were beautiful. I didn’t know that tabby was a marking and not a breed. Most of my cats have had that m marking on their forehead. 🐈⬛😻
My first cat was an orange tabby female. I called her Molly. She had a prominent "M" on her forehead. She was so affectionate and gorgeous. I miss her. This was fascinating about tabby cats. Thank you for all the interesting facts about tabbies.
I have a tabby cat and she is a BIG cat, 21 pounder. She is such a lover and likes to talk. She is a great communicator, and very friendly with everyone
I can only agree with your vlog. Tabbys are excellent mousers, in my case, extremely empathetic (and WOW! He became a soul mate in my darkest days. Somehow, he knew how to cheer me up.) My Tabby was an extrovert and would mingle with guests of 25+pers no problem. He was Called Fritz, Named after the many adventures of Fritz the Kat, a cartoon adult movie from the '70s, I still remember him dearly. He passed at the grand age of 16, more than 20 years ago. What a joyful and beautiful creature he was.
My three boys are a grey mackerel-striped and white, a gray and white patched, and a ginger tabby. All three of them have their own, very distinct personality. The youngest is the most independent, but also the most talkative. The oldest is very quiet, but he's also my best friend. he follows me around, and sleeps with me every night (he sleeps between me and the door, in case he has to protect me). The middle boy is the sweetest and most demonstrative.
My theory on the M pattern on the head is that when their eyes are closed, it still looks like they are open. Therefore it gave them some evolutionary advantage while sleeping. My two tabbies are brothers named Buckminster and Isamu. They are named after Buckminster Fuller, and Isamu Noguchi who were friends and visionary designers in real life. Thank you for this episode. (BTW it's "populer" is spelled popular 😉😂)
nope i have a photo from 2017 of my female tabby cat that i got back in 2016 with her eyes closed and it doesn't make them look open it just looks like shes sleeping
I have had about 12 cats during my life. They all adopted me. My current cat, which will probably be the last cat I ever own, is a Silver Tabby with green eyes. Even though my cat adopted me, she came from the streets, and so I have had to work hard to earn her trust. But, she’s a sweet darling.
I have 2 Kitties first one a male stripes Ginger n white his hair is medium length he turned 10 years old on the 28th of April. Our female is shorter hair lots of stripes mostly brown n black she turned 10 years old May 5, 2023 Love them dearly 😻😻😺😺❤️❤️💜💜
This was fascinating and I know know that 6 of my 12 cats are tabby! My orange tabby boy is the most loving, affectionate cat on the planet. He knows when I'm not happy and will cuddle up to me and lie by my chest with his head under my chin. He also Mother's my other feline babies, I love him so much and call him the "den mother".
I have two one grey striped, orange and swirl. Sadly my 1.5 year old male was killed by unknown circumstances right across our street and I presume/guess the 15 lb. feral male had the poor little boy done in with no comment at all from our neighbor.
My tom is yellow & he is a tabby & main coon he is so very good & lovable & so smart & very protective over his momma. His momma was a tabby & his grandmother was a calico. I raised his grandmother & mother from kittens his grandmother was a wild kitten & I caught her & raised her & she was a awesome mom & grandmother
My Simon is a brown mackerel tabby with white. He's almost completely white from his sides on down, tabby on top. Someone once called him 'flashy' - I laughed to myself. He sister, now gone, was a beautiful little torbie with a huge personality. She had the tortie attitude and tabby extroversion. Simon is mostly timid with others, but I'm agoraphobic, with anxiety and depression, and rarely have visitors; so he hasn't had a chance to get over that. But we adore each other. He follows me from room to room, sleeps against me or in my arms under the covers in winter, likes to eat when I do, carries on conversations, and howls disapprovingly at me if I don't go to bed when he thinks it's time. 😸 I had two Siamese at different times growing up, so I'm used to a cat trying to boss me around, LOL. He certainly isn't timid with me! Occasionally he does wander out of sight for some window sun time, or private time; but 99% of the time he's next to me. He's such a comfort, and helps me so much when things get overwhelming. He knows when I need cuddles.
You can see Noggin, my ginger tabby in my profile picture. He died on 15 May this year, at almost 13 years old. He loved cuddles both at night and in the morning while I was in bed but was never wanted to hop up onto my lap during the day or evening. Highly intelligent, as all cats are, I could set my watch by his in-built ability to know what time of day or night it was. I'm now 74 so he was my last of numerous companion cats. Luckily, I have lots of pictures and videos of him as keep-sakes of a wonderful furry friend.
In a way I am terrified of how much I love my cat's. I'm extremely reclusive and they have helped me maintained my sanity. I don't know what I'm going to do if anything happens to any of them.
I perfectly understand your dread. This may or may not work for you but from the day I brought Noggin home from the Rescue Centre I build in a psychological acceptance that one day he would die and probably leave me heart-broken and alone. Every day I reminded myself I needed to treat this as if it might be his last [as kittens can die early for various reasons]. I also made sure I gave him as much love and affection as I could so when the night came he was clearly dying I had reached the point where I could let him go with dignity and without tears. He is buried in the garden and I look at his pictures and videos reminding myself just how much he is still loved. Perhaps that thought process might also help you. I hope so anyway.@@paysour3
@@ZalthorAndNoggin Actually your philosophy is the philosophy that I have implemented for myself. Giving my kitties all the love and affection is easy since I am reclusive. I can't help but think that something might happen to me. I carry around a note in my wallet letting anyone know that I have cats at home. I have given an emergency number of a lady who works for an animal Care organization. Hopefully if something happens to me they won't be completely separated and maybe someone will take more than one. Just a thought of us being separated caused me to tear up just writing to you about the eventuality.
My girl cat is a black and gold tabby-she found me! In the Geelong cat pound ! The most interesting fact I found in the video was about the markings on the forehead ❤
I adopted a kitten from the alleyway behind my house. I underestimated how fast a kitten can become fertile. One day she snuck out and now I am the parent of 5 cats that were born in my kitchen. I intended to keep maybe two or three of them but eventually I couldn't bear parting with any of them. I am retired and when covid hit I had no choice but to become extremely reclusive. The cats help me successfully maintain my solitary confinement during that 3 years of isolation. I actually deeply enjoyed the solitude made much more enjoyable by their presence. We are in love with each other. I'm a rough-and-tumble kind of guy who majored in Zoology. I deeply appreciate their company and their behaviors are endlessly entertaining to me. Soon I will start to post some interesting findings about their interactions. We have established a very close-knit family. Along with the 3 Alley cats that I also take care of I never cease to be amazed.
My tabby , Goldie , is a golden color with a colorful personality. She is a rescue cat who initially was very skidish. As an older cat, she is more trusting and loves to sit on my lap whenever possible 💕
Which of these facts about tabby cats did you find the most interesting? 🐈

Cats NEVER got domesticated, they just played along and made the humans think they got domesticated 😊😊

@@Guangrui So True 😆
That is a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing❤❤❤God Bless ❤❤😊

In my experience, every Tabby cat that's ever adopted me as their Human was very social with family. Some less so with outsiders, but all had big, wonderful personalities. Perhaps that's just coincidence, but each one had unconditional love that has been so wonderful to be on the receiving end of. :)
tabby boy cats are cuddly mine is 13 years old
All my cats are tabbies and they are truly a god sent! Loving, cuddly, and intelligent! Great companions too!
Have one, got her as a stray....Great companion, has me trained well!
I always miss my cat in broad daylight because he camouflages in the yard so well!
I have one they are stunning
There are entirely too many precious kitties in this video! Too sweet for words!!!
All cats are wonderful but tabbies are the best imo. Super sweet, great hunters and the cutest little faces.
Tabbies are the only cats that come with their own bar code.
😂😂
Yep!!! 👍😄
You got to many cats I bet yo house dirty prob smell to
My 2 tabbies are very affectionate. While I was away on a 2-week trip, they were very social with their caregiver. When I got home today, instead of ignoring me, they spent all day taking turns to cuddle with me, putting their heads near my neck and purring. I've had calico and tortie cats, but these tabbies are the sweetest.
Through the years, I've had many cats, including tabbies. Love them & I'm enjoying this video very much. Thanks.
I guess I enjoy any video with a cat in it. (As long as the cat isn't being mistreated.)
My little tabby boy was my buddy all the way. It's been 2 years since I lost him & im really lost without him. He was a bit disabled because he'd been thrown from a window of a moving car when very young. I adopted him & he was always so grateful for everything he i gave him., every toy, bed, treat.

I have had 3 tabbies in my adult life. The first 2 both lived to be around 20. My latest is 12. They are the best cats!
I had a tabby that lived to 22 years old. She was a tough old broad.
I adopted a tabby cat and it is by far, the most loving and friendly cat I have ever had the pleasure to live with c:
Our two tabby cats are the sweetest. Both are very vocal, love to be pet, and they have a mackerel coating.
My very first cat was a brown tabby. She was named Thomasina, after the cat in the movie. She was one of the sweetest cats ever. ♥️🐈⬛🐾
I had a beautiful silver tabby mackerel with dots on his soft belly. His name was Theon and was the sweetest boy ever. I miss him 😢.
I read somewhere that those belly dots are called vest buttons. As if tabbies needed to be any more adorable! 🐅

I recently adopted 2 tabby cats, litter mates and twins as well, I kept them together as they get along so well, mine are mackerel patterned, they have everything they need, life wouldn't be the same without them
My tabby boy is named Sid Vicious and he is awesome! He's been with me almost 5 years now...
I would love to name a cat Moggie
The Chief Mouser, as well as having a Civil Service position, also receives a small salary from the British taxpayer.
I just got back from a terrific trip to Egypt…all of the cats that were painted in the tombs appeared to be brown tabby in coat colors❤️😻💕

ALL cats have an "M". Some are just easier to see than others. This vid had a lot of mistakes
Classic ginger 😂❤❤❤
My current feline companion is my first Tabby cat, "Spirit".
Thank you for sharing this.
I had a lovely tabby cat named Puggsley, and yes, he was definitely an extrovert, making human and feline and canine friends wherever he went. 🙂
Number 6 is absolutely 100% no doubt spot-on! My American shorthair tabby, Castiel, is an excellent hunter. No matter where I hide my yarn he manages to flush it out and drag it out all over the house! 😂
Mt tabby is the most extroverted cat I have ever had! He is also very vocal.
My tabby girl is an introvert. She is shy around most people, but hangs around me quite a bit. She’s great!
Mine too!! Soooo shy, but cheeky with me
We have 9 cats, all rescues.
Anybody else notice about halfway through, after specifically telling us tabby is not a breed, he called tabby a breed?
Very interesting and enjoyable video…all the cats were beautiful. I didn’t know that tabby was a marking and not a breed. Most of my cats have had that m marking on their forehead. 🐈⬛😻
My first cat was an orange tabby female. I called her Molly. She had a prominent "M" on her forehead. She was so affectionate and gorgeous. I miss her. This was fascinating about tabby cats. Thank you for all the interesting facts about tabbies.
That's so weird because I have an orange female Tabby I called Molly. She's 8 months old now
Treasure her!!!!@@stoicswae
I have a tabby cat and she is a BIG cat, 21 pounder. She is such a lover and likes to talk. She is a great communicator, and very friendly with everyone
I can only agree with your vlog. Tabbys are excellent mousers,
in my case, extremely empathetic (and WOW! He became a soul mate in my darkest days. Somehow, he knew how to cheer me up.)
My Tabby was an extrovert and would mingle with guests of 25+pers no problem. He was Called Fritz, Named after the many adventures of Fritz the Kat, a cartoon adult movie from the '70s,
I still remember him dearly. He passed at the grand age of 16, more than 20 years ago. What a joyful and beautiful creature he was.
My boy is an orange tabby. He’s a scamp. Never tires of playing. ❤❤❤ him so much 😁
I LOVE that Lincoln loved cats! 😻
I agree! That is what I have always thought too.😺
The cat must be doing the video
nope i have a photo from 2017 of my female tabby cat that i got back in 2016 with her eyes closed and it doesn't make them look open it just looks like shes sleeping
I just adopted a tabby a few days ago, her personality is so similar to mine. She's still adjusting to her new home.
I have 3 Tabbys: Orange male, Grey male, and Patch female! They are all wonderful companions! 😻
I have two one grey striped, orange and swirl. Sadly my 1.5 year old male was killed by unknown circumstances right across our street and I presume/guess the 15 lb. feral male had the poor little boy done in with no comment at all from our neighbor.
Very interesting so many Tabby facts...I have a Black Tabby she is an extrovert, very vocal, loves cuddles...
I had an orange tabby female once... her name was Sasha. She was also Persian too and such a pretty kitty.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL CATS, TABBY'S ARE BY FAR MY FAVORITE.❤
Loved this info on tabby’s 😺😻😎
Tabby cats are the best. I’ve had a few and they have both been friendly and outgoing.
I’ve had my tabby nine years and he communicates very well with me… I love him….
God bless you!
My tabby has the cutest red fur on her nose and belly - with spots on her belly. She is a good hunter too, a good mouser😸
My girl cat is a black and gold tabby-she found me! In the Geelong cat pound ! The most interesting fact I found in the video was about the markings on the forehead ❤
Thanks for the info. I love the markings on my Peeka. She does her eyeliner very nicely. ;)
And she has a spot right at the tip of her nose. So cute.
I miss my Missy tabby. She had freckles on her very long nose.
She was extremely loyal to me and would happily go anywhere with me.
