It's worth noting that the story of the Nepali Royal massacre is the "official" version of events. Crown Prince Dipendra had two gunshot wounds making it very unlikely that he shot himself in the head...twice. Most/many Nepalese people believe that the kings brother, Prince Gyanendra had the royal family killed so he could become king. Whether this is true or not, this is the main reason that the Nepalese people abolished the Monarchy 7 years later. King Birenda was beloved and they did not want to be ruled by the man who murdered him

    • @nick.u182
      @nick.u182 3 года назад +65

Derek the way the last king of Nepal abdicated his throne tells a lot he wasn’t the killer and neither was the Prince. The prince was shot on left side of the head while he was a right handed himself. Which doesn’t add up. The real killer was CIA along with a big hand from Indian government. They have left a power vacuum which has made it easier now to play with its politics. The So called Maoist of Nepal were funded by India and were seeking shelter in Delhi, while they ran riot on innocents Nepalese. The evidence were destroyed right after the massacre.

One thing about Malaysian monarch that people might find interesting, the Agong or Supreme King doesn't wear a crown.

Silla's gold crowns are decorated with curved jades, and most of them are completed in the shape of deer horns, and if you look closely at the ends of the horns, you can see that a small bird is sitting. The reason why the crown was shaped like a deer horn is that deer were the symbol of the king in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, including Silla and Baekje. This animal is called Shinrok and is said to be a winged deer. In Korea, there are a total of 10 gold crowns, and many non-gold ones are found.
And the countries that made up the Korean Peninsula during the Three Kingdoms period were Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, and Gaya. Gaya was excluded because it was a city-state that did not achieve centralization, and it was named the "Three Kingdoms Period," which means Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. Goguryeo changed its name to 'Goryeo', which later became the origin of the English word 'Korea'. Goguryeo is a very important country in the history of Korea. It is located in the present-day North Korea and Manchuria.

it is unclear whether gaya was centralized. gaya's development of the japanese dynasty was introduced by jon carter covell, the first westerner to obtain a doctorate in oriental art history. if gaya was a undeveloped dynasty, it would not have been able to achieve such influence.

The Sultan's official Palace is located here. Can I request to make a video on the Royal families of Malaysia? We have 9 royal families as you know and they are all interrelated through marriage and some even come from the same origin dynasty, like Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and even Selangor. Would be interesting to watch how these 9 royal families rotate as King of Malaysia every 5 years. Hoping to see some day. Thank you for this amazing video.

You should make a series for this: Malay Sultanates. In addition to the 9 royal houses in Malaysia, you should also include the Royal families of Brunei, Patani (Southern Thailand), Indonesia: Deli, Serdang, Langkat, Siak, Asahan, Kualuh etc (East Sumatera), Pontianak (Borneo), Riau. All these are Malay Sultanates which are related to one another.
Malay Royalty use titles such as Tengku (various spellings), Raja, Syed in place of prince/princess.

The headwear you show at 9:29 was not the royal crown of Nepal. If you just compare it with the previous picture of Nepal's late king, you see that the one you show later is much less impressive. The royal crown had five crescent shapes made of diamonds. Other high ranking officials would also wear similar looking headwear - the Prime ministers till 1950 used to wear similar crowns with 3 crescents. And other government officials would wear a headwear with single crescent (the one you showed as the royal crown). Also, the "crowns" worn by these lesser officials (other than the King and the PM and few other top officials) may not even be adorned with the real jewels but with replicas.

They are the real granters of imperial power, and their lore sounds like something out of a fantasy saga, but they're real. Although... we don't have photographic evidence of them! Buddhist Mahakaal and Hindu Mahakal arent same ig but physical depiction are quite similar.
Mahakal is more like a protector deity while it is similar with Bhairav in Hinduism.
We can find shrine of Mahakal in the doors or in the entry point of Buddhist monasteries in Nepal too.
Plus ancient Nepali crown was actually worn by Bajracharya masters not by the royals.
Only a ceremonial crown and a necklace of a young prince is retrieved in the present day from ancient Nepal sadly which is now in British museum.

In my opinion,i think the Chinese crown is interesting! The design may look a bit unconventional to some but it gives out a eclectic mix of both ancient and contemporary art. It has a spirit of "elegance and sophistication" ozzing out which you can still wear it and look classy, the second pick goes out to both the Japanese and Korean ones(not being biased here) very versatile. Sure the others look good enough but i think they are overly done ,the over the top embellishments sadly cancelled out it's beauty and functionality to the extent that they look like a regular religious decor items rather than a royal diadem .

Hi just wanted to share the official head regalia of the Yang Dipertuan Agong of Malaysia is the Tengkolok which is a basically a piece of cloth usually using the 'songket tenun' material and stylized according to the 'Dendam Tak Sudah' of the house of Negeri Sembilan monarchs since it was used by the 1st YDPA. Also Malay rulers opted this from a legend which took part after the fall of Malacca where the son of the last sultan (after the defeat from the portuguese) and his entourage were seeking to make way to Perak and a sudden storm hit the envoy. The Sultan offered his crown to the seas and swears that none of his descendants will have a crown only the tengkolok. But to my knowledge (and I might be wrong) only the Selangor and Johor royal houses created a crown. Also the Johor crown looks like the british crown. I think you'll have a great time doing the Malaysian royal lineage. It's as long and lengthy as any European house.

Yes the Agong (the King of Malaysia) follows a Royal Malay tradition that legend dictates centuries ago while a Malay Sultan travelled by sea to take possession of his new kingdom his ship ran aground and so the only way to free the ship was to toss overboard the heavy cargo which included the Sultans Crown Jewels.
When his Crown was tossed overboard the ship was light enough to float and continue its journey to shore.
The sultan took that act as a good omen and swore to never again wear a crown as part of his regalia. Almost all the Malay Sultanates have kept up this tradition. So instead they wear some sort of headdress made of folded cloth.

Fun fact, my mother is a direct descendant of the royal bloodline of gaya, whats crazy is tgat 1.3 of the population of korea is descended from this bloodline and has begun two clans, the gingas kims, and the gingae heo(pronounced huh). The gays kingdom was eventually absorbed into Shilla and my Mothers clan was guven the rank of true bone royal, and were eligible to marry into the royal family of Shilla. Another fun fact about the shila crown, the symbolism inked to the north in siberia. Those antlers were a symbol of the dragon, the reindeer, or deer, which shows our ties to northern reindeer herding peoles. The part in front represents world tree of and has imagery relating to our deep connection with shamanism/animism, koreas original religion. This is why many think that the shilla kings weren't just royals but also shamans. The aesthetic, is very different from Chinese crowns, and the only other place this style was seen is in the area of iran and afghanistan. The jade gogok symbolized the fruits of the world tree or it's roots. Lastly the mianguan wasn't just worn in China, as later Korean kingdoms adopted Chinese customs, our emporers and kings began wearing the miangwan, especially in goryo, and Joseon.

The crown of Johor, one of the states in Malaysia, should have been highlighted. It was Johor that started modernising its administration and government based on the British system in the early 19th century, including having a written constitution with a constitutional monarchy. The then sultan who oversaw this modernisation drive was Sir Sultan Abu Bakar who had close relations with Queen Victoria of UK. His late Majesty had a crown fashioned similar to the design of the British crown, replacing crosses with crescent and stars, with even a coronation ceremony. Other Malay states only followed suit in designing their own crowns.
