I first watched Amos and Andy at about 4 years old - they were funny then and over 70 years later they are still funny to me. There is nothing on TV today that match the genuine laughter of Amos and Andy of yester years!
What a hilarious show ! There is not one thing wrong with this great show. All these character types are seen in a million other shows that the naacp somehow had no problem with. Bozo killjoys I say.
The people on this show had been stars on Broadway & at the Apollo & were fine actors & actresses. And these episodes were funny & gave people jobs & blacks were seen on tv when no other show would.

I have never watched this comedy before! It was never available through the years. Always heard of Amos and Andy. But I have so much enjoyed the episodes! There is a lot of dialogue and creative episodes!
“The Kingfish Gets Amnesia” Season 4, Episode 6, aired 1955. Alvin Childress as Amos; Spencer Williams (Jr.) as Andy; Tim Moore as Kingfish; Ernestine Wade as Sapphire; Johnny Lee as Calhoun; Amanda Randolph as Mama; Ruby Dandridge as Phoebe Harris / Mrs. Smith; Dudley Dickerson as Joe; Milton Wood as the Doctor.
Amos and Andy is a great show i have them on D V D this is one of the funniest shows of all times I still watch them and I love them I put them up with the Honeymooners and I am white
The NAACP didn't realize they were hurting their own people. These were all great actors and actresses who lost their jobs. Not a good move. I'm black and I love this show. What exactly is supposed to be racist about it?
I'm asking the same question..Perfect comedic delivery ...I remember back in the the day when my father found out they were cancelled because of actions by the NAACP, and he was appalled by what they did..We were all sympathetic to the actors. How can it be racist when all the actors were the same color?...Ah, political correctness?

@@capacola262743 I wouldn't go as far as to say that because it is still a great organization -(always have been), has done good work and has helped many people over the years. “Well just as you say fat boy!” Joke after joke from this marvelous comedy. Have to admit I fell for the nonsense concerning this show but after binging a couple of weeks ago I see absolutely nothing wrong - man you should never take someone else’s position without the facts! Even saw similar situations in my all time favorite Sanford & Son - “big dummy, the baby in the hospital scene, Fred having amnesia several times, throwing the bills in the garbage, not to mention Amos himself as R Tremble.” Can’t stop laughing, only wished there were more!
Funny episode, with some rather obvious goofs. This episode was broadcast in 1955. Calvin Coolidge was elected in 1924. So Tom Smith would have had to have been gone from Chicago for 30 years not 20. Second, Tom Smith's wife mentions that they have 9 children. Even going with the 20 year scenario that would make the youngest one at least 20 years old.
It has become apparent that Calhoun gives the Kingfish the ideas for alot of his crazy schemes. I have tried to fiqure out what Brother Calhoun's profession is?
Calhoun varies from Consultant to Lawyer ( Although he has been Disbarred in one episode by a Judge) He is portrayed as a Lawyer Mostly....The Comic Johnny Lee plays Calhoun, Lee was a favorite on the Chittlin Circuit ...He is seen in a short clip in the movie Stormy Weather with a comical skit about a Car...Johnny Lee did voice-over work for Disney ....Absolutely a Funny Guy !!!
No because the naacp would be the naacp and that organization would operate with a tad more sense cause they would want to see people laugh naacp want to stop the laughter so they become the joke an unemployment agent
