Thanks very kindly for posting. A sadly neglected classic series from the early days of television. As a kid in the early 50’s I dearly loved this show. Except for George of course. He was always getting in trouble and that would keep me nervous. Very, very nervous…
Classic professional comedy.. Come home in a poor mood and watch these great actors at work.. They will leave you smiling.. God Bless the whole wonderful cast!
I remember years ago, one night when the TV show was going off, the music was playing, and my kid brother asked, "How come all that they're saying is, "Oh?"
God bless you for sharing this fabulous comedy show. We watched this show as a kid with my family.😊should have never been taken off the air. This is good clean comedy 😂
I was an 8 year old white kid in elementary school in 1955 and ran home from school in the afternoon to watch The Kingfish and his wife and Amanda Randolph go at it! I loved them and all the cast because they made me laugh and feel warm inside. And still do!!
Cracks me up when they show that painting “ laughing and pointing at” Kingfish. Every time Sapphire throws him out, he takes that picture with him. Also funny when Sapphire was looking at Kingfish’s photograph all taped up, just before she threw it off the bureau for the second time. There are so many hilarious details in addition to the excellent writing and acting. Brilliant comedy.👍🏻👍🏻😆

My grandma turned 91 today, she has Alzheimer's so she swears shes only 60. She told me that she loved this growing up and asked me to play it for her. She laughed damn near the whole time.
I am thrilled that your Grandmother enjoys the show. With Alzheimer's she was able to recall the memories of watchinh this show when she was a young adult 😊.
“Kingfish Has a Baby,” Episode 5, Season 1, aired 26 July 1951. Alvin Childress as Amos, Spencer Williams (Jr.) as Andy, Tim Moore as Kingfish, Ernestine Wade as Sapphire, Amanda Randolph as Mama, Nick Stewart (Nick O'Demus) as Lightnin', Verna Felton as the nurse.
Tim Moore sure as hell needs a star on Hollywood's walk of fame.He still has not got one.The black actors should be raising hell because of that.Tim Moore deserves that star!
YES!!!!!!!!! He and the rest were brilliant. Ernestine Wade..........., equally great. This program was so well written, directed, acted. A national treasure.
I saw / heard an interview of Nick Stewart (Lightnin'), done shortly before he died in 2000. His comments were interesting. He said the show was demeaning to black people, but at the same time, this was the first time that an all black cast was on a television program, and that "you had to start somewhere." He pointed out that Amos N Andy paved the way for other black performers, like Sidney Pottier. He also didn't understand why the NAACP went after the TV show - the first chance black performers had an opportunity to make real money - while it was silent when the two white guys who did the radio show probably made millions of dollars over the years.
This sitcom is absolutely hilarious I just can’t stop laughing I love the way they slaughter the English language so funny. The one where Andy tells king fish that’s the biggest 15 minute old baby I’ve ever seen and he’s got yo teeth too. funny funny funny I love him..😝😝😝
How many times do you find yourself actually laughing at one of Today's so-called Comedy's ? Now compare it to this wonderfully crafted comedy of yesteryear ? No comparison i bet ?
My BEST character on all these shows is the MAMA, bar none. The effort that these characters put into their acting was always supreme and will always be demonstrative of an example of how one can vanquish and challenge the lack of opportunity back then because of race.

This show was great. All the people were not a bunch of bums etc....these black were clean, had jobs in different areas... they lived in nice neighborhood s....these shows were to show that people could and can do just as well as whites.

Children were not allowed to visit patients in the hospital in those days. Spencer Williams was a musician, composer and one of the pioneer African American filmmakers, directing numerous films for black audiences in the 30s and 40s. I've little information about the wonderful Tim Moore, however, one of W.C. Fields' funniest shorts, "The Fatal Glass of Beer" was pretty much written by Moore (Fields had purchased the skit from him years earlier). Excellent comedy performed by a very talented cast. Today, this show would have enjoyed a very lengthy run (really, it's no more controversial than "Sanford & Son", minus the racist and homophobic jokes).

I remember watching this show on a black & white 8"round screen floor model TV. But I dont recall what year it was. Can anybody help me out with that info?
I love to watch these old amos and andy shows, but I hate that whoever wrote the scripts for these shows always tried to show that black people were dumb as hell and stupid, when in reality if you look through all the negative inuendos in the show, you will see that these people were highly intelligent people. There should be a star on Hollywood's blvd with each and everyone one of these people's names on it.They were better than todays actors.
"Amos 'n Andy" is a comedy. Comedies show people doing dumb things that are funny, e.g., Lucille Ball in "I Love Lucy." People doing smart things isn't funny.

Kingfish has an office and Lightning works for him. Im not understanding how he doesn't have a job?
The beer commercials crack me up
Amos looks like he has too much make up on. Almost like he was darkened a little.
Darkened a little?! They gave him the Al Jolson treatment
These episodes are good. But in episode 39 Kingfish could have given the money back to Andy without getting the stock...since it was no good anyway.
Wow do I feel stupid. I never even thought of that !
I remember watching this show on a black & white 8"round screen floor model TV. But I dont recall what year it was. Can anybody help me out with that info?
" Florence Nightengown " 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The nurse at 16:00 was Dennis Day's mean Mom on the Jack Benny program.
Watch sitcom The Jefferson's, reruns. I think they patterned after this show.
"Yeah I was eatin at the time" lol

1:41 watch out kingfish! ..here it comes!!
Why does lightning look like MLK😂
if kingfish thought saffire was pregnant that means he had been hitting it...hahahaha
Joe McDonald Lol.
And the characters played by both Gracie Allen and Lucille Ball were not yet more dumb? Maybe you have a 'black' chip on your shoulder. - David Lyga
"Amos 'n Andy" is a comedy. Comedies show people doing dumb things that are funny, e.g., Lucille Ball in "I Love Lucy." People doing smart things isn't funny.
