  • Woodturning "Big Blue" - Resin and Jarrah Bowl on my wood lathe. Wood turning.
So this is a 'simple' bowl using jarrah wood from Western Australia and a blue resin. As my wife loves blue I guess this one is staying at home :)

Thank you Jocynda. I tend to have a leaning for the blue resins myself. So does my wife! 🤣

It's nice. Might look a bit better if it were a bit deeper ?

Thank you Melody. I did consider going deeper but I tend to like my bowls bottom heavy. I have been playing around with a new lathe tool that I have just made and I have tested it on this bowl so it is a little deeper now.

Bowl is way too thick at the bottom. Not well proportioned. Pretty though.

I prefer my bowls to have some'weight' to them. Each to their own I guess. In the round nose scraper video I actually test it out by taking some of the thickness out of the bottom of this bowl. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍

Nice bowl but please LOSE THE MUSIC! Nobody comes to hear music. We would much rather hear your commentary on how and why you did what you did. Heck, I'd rather just hear tool sounds than that goofy music.

Thanks John. The music is only into and exit music just to give it a bit of some extra appeal. I try to choose music that suits the piece. There are a lot of people who talk a LOT during their turning videos and I tend to turn the volume down as I don't usually want to hear them chatter on. Perhaps that's an option with the music as the start and end?

@@makermark1 I see you point and I'm not trying to be a jerk (it comes naturally). I usually am watching a video to try and learn something from the maker. I suspect that more people than not are the same way. If you are playing music and I turn it down then I risk missing your comments. Perhaps, if you are going to occasionally comment, you could put subtitles in. Another maker whom I frequently watch does that and I am very thankful for it because his comments are very valuable to newbies like me.

@@johnfogg7858 oic. No problem. The East answer is that I don't tend to make comments or if I do I put it in text anyway such as the polishing paste comment I make in the latest speaker video. Thanks John.
