The most warm-hearted man and a great musician - Rest in peace, dear Christian.

It is wonderful to see a masterclass from an external perspective like this. The impression I get is that the boy violinist is terrified, thinking 'OHH A BERLIN PHIL. VIOLINIST.. TENSE PANIC MODE!' which I perfectly understand, a common performance anxiety when playing to your idols. But the Berlin violinist is only human, and a pleasant charming man with some great advice. The student has been well taught, but very strictly taught I can tell - if anything, OVER disciplined! The violin is a relaxed graceful instrument, and ones performance with it is ironically compromised by trying too hard. A great violinist makes it seem effortless... I wish him all the best on his road of violin discovery :)

Another interesting lesson but now with concertmaster, a great violinist and teacher, the young violinist is very flexible, many thanks for these videos 🌺🌺🌺

I used to own a Stadlmann violin - 1778. One of Christian's ancestors? Perhaps.

What if one of these days, a teacher conducting a masterclass were to say "I have no advice for you; your playing was absolutely perfect." Has that ever happened?

StringTheoryViolin - Don't sneer at Mozart. Whilst anyone can play Mozart, only someone great can play him WELL. It is never good to be conceited - a great musician appreciates the qualities of all composers without unfair judgement.

Oh I'm so sorry, please forgive me! I see what you mean now :D That is true. And I'm glad you aren't dissing Mozart - It's just that I have had bad experiences with people who have expressed negative things about him! Have a good day :)

The Student will not have any chance to play in a professional orchestra if he doesn’t learn to control the permanent vibrato. Like the teacher says, he must play with more light bowing instead of vibrating each note.

For a Mozart composition this should sing more than what he is playing..and the first pricipal violinist does not guide him much!

Masterclasses are no use at all....they have never helped anybody. If intonation is not an important matter in a violin group....than NOTHING is important. These two guys could not play ONE bar in tune if they would play together...but that is not THAT important. The Ego of the master gets satisfied anyway....
