What top speed before and after?
@@jev2867 I don't know the original top speed because they derestricted it at the dealership for me. I'm a lightweight Rider 145 lb. The speedometer will go all the way to 50 but my GPS has 45 miles an hour. Keep in mind it's not broken yet. And get a 2021 there now on 12 inch wheels instead of 10 you don't need to purchase the sport model to get 12 inch wheels.

Great video. I'm curious about the need of the air drill. Would a cordless drill work, or do you need the extra punch of the air drill to do this the right way? Thanks!
I've seen it done with a cordless drill, but we definitely use the air tools for the extra punch. Having the nut come off and strip the threads on the crank would not be a fun problem to solve...

I'm looking at either getting the Roughhouse 50 or a Scootstar Roguestar 50. Any advice? I know RoughHouses are a bit more expensive but what is the difference in value?

My dad used to have this same scooter and it consistently went 55mph off the lot brand new. I guess they derestricted it from the getgo lol I always wondered why it was faster than most scooters.

How did the gear shaft not move when you removed the v bolt I’m having trouble taking it off without the entire belt moving
We don't have any issue when using the air gun, but you can just hold the variator still if having trouble. It usually just zips right off.
Would this work on a 2015 Piaggio Typhoon 2t? Have one which max speed currently is 30-35 mph but shows max 50
It's 2-stroke? Yea, maybe. I'm not sure of the restrictions on that unit, but a lot of the 2 stroke scooters are restricted. A 2-stroke scooter will usually get 45+ without a restriction.
I have a genuine buddy 50cc year 2015 and i took of the variator restricion. whare are located more restricion on the scooter
Exhaust... Between the header pipe and the head of the motor.

MEEKZ MANNY We’re not familiar with the restrictions on those. I doubt they will have this same restriction.
second change the carb put bigger carb on 3rd take out alot of the packing in the pipe,4th drimel the oulet and inlet ports by 2 to 5 mill ,and polish , wet and dry paper on a drill and skim the top head off 2 to 4 mill and fit a copper gasket rejet it ,and get 18 to 24miles an hour more speed maybe more cost will be $40
would like to do that but i can't. there are little gap that make my fan cover wobbly / unsteady

do you have any videos of how to get to the carburetor to clean it and same goes to the gas tank. i don't ride my roughhouse much and it never fails it will sit a few months and i go out to ride it... it cranks but not start and it cost me 200 bucks to take it to the scooter shop to get running.
I don't, but we have a video on storage prep. Have you seen it? If you arent going to use the scooter for a bit, prep it for storage that way you don't have to pay to have everything cleaned out :)
How does that plastic piece function? Does it cause some some type of slippage to decrease speed?
It keeps the variator from opening up to its full potential. Once it is removed, it can open up all the way. Thanks!
Hey I have a 2019 Yamaha BW’s (ZUMA) and was wondering how to prevent belt slipperage?
Hey there. Have you pulled off the clutch to look at it? Replacting the clutch utimately would fix the issue, but if you are looking for a lower cost (possible) solution, you could pull the clutch bell off and rub some sandpaper along the inside of it to scuff it up some and give it more grip. It's always hard for me to say since I don't have the unit in front of me.

I wouldn't do this without the proper tools. You risk tearing it up and being in a lot of trouble. You don't want to screw up the crank shaft of the motor.

Any tips to derestrict a Honda PCX 125?? They’re Suppose to get 60-70 but currently tops out about 55. 2011 model 1000 miles on it. Basically new.

My guess would be no based on what I know about 125cc engines, but I haven't opened the transmission on that before, so I can't say for sure. Sorry!

I have a gator 50 jog. How do I know if it has a restrictor. Pretty sure it does cause will not go 35 unless down hill.

Sym fiddle 3 49cc 4t, i remove ring and now run 50 km/h,but whe is on this speed it doesnt run clear and smouth, something is going wrong, and a noise appears on 50.....for more speed another cdi or can i remove the wire from original cdi??

I wouldn't recommend anything else. You may be able to use a battery-powered impact, but you want to make sure it's strong enough to torque down. Last thing you want to do is strip the threads on the crank. Locking Torque 3.2~4.0 kg-m.

Will it work with piaggio nrg 50cc? It is a 2-stroke as well.
I have never derestricted one of those but there is a possibility if it is a 2-stroke.

As far as the Piaggio scooters we sell, there are no limiters on them that I'm aware of.
Im needing help to make my 2022 dong fang 50sst faster. Max out at 30mph. I have a 80-100cc big bore kit with all the high preference parts installed including spark plug, plug wire and CDI box with the top left wire deleted. So im looking for any help to make it faster the 30mph.

49cc scooters are only made to do 30 - 40mph. May need some fine tuning. My recommendation would be to upgrade in engine size if you really would like to get more boost. Thanks!

If your scooter has the restriction, yes. Many do not though. 5 - 10mph I would say is average speed increase.
are all the rough house the same cvt even say a 2016 year as opposed to a 2019 or 2020?

How does that little thing restrict it
It keeps the variator in the transmission from opening up all of the way when the belt engages it, thus restricting the speed. When it’s removed, it can expand all the way out 🙌🏼💯🛵

Many SYM Scooters have a restriction here, but I'm not sure if the Orbit does. My assumption would be yes.

Hi Guys, I did this derestriction to a 2002 Yamaha Vino (also had to grind the exhaust restriction out of the pipe) - I just bought a new Scootstar- Honeystar 50cc and was wondering if that 4-stroke scoot had the same 'governor' washer in it's variator or if it was electronically restricted with a CDI - I don't want to void my warranty, but this virus crap is making it hard for me to get back to my dealer - PEACE!

@@symcardnel1741 We've done it enough times to know this process gives it enough torque (and not too much as well). Locking Torque is 3.2~4.0 kg-m. Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that scooter, but a lot of the Chinese Tao Tao scooters are 3.50 x 10. You should be able to see the tire size on your current tires if you need to replace. Thanks!

Yea. Definitely locate your closest dealership and get it in there to ensure everything is completed properly.

Yamaha razz 50cc is restricted by a single gear and not a traditional CVT They are not friendly to mod.
They have a Minarelli engine that is de-tune to a lower compression ratio.
They are basically a cheaper Zuma. I liked mine, I bought it for my girl. I don't know how we did it but we would 2-up with with 300+ combined weight and still hit top speed at 30ish mph lol.
They only weigh 115lbs, peppy but do not get your hopes up to mod, you would have to redesign the entire transmission.

That's a Chinese 4-stroke scooter so I don't believe it has this restriction. Sorry.
There is also an exhaust restriction via the muffler gasket.
Feral Sparky Used to be. The newer models don’t have that restriction in the exhaust.

Most don't care. A dealerships responsibility is to make sure you are aware of the rules/laws, but at the end of the day, they can't force you to follow them. (With that said, we'd highly encourage you to go ahead and get that motorcycle license).

I bought a Roughouse 50 this year and I was told that the restricter can be taken out, by me, after the first 500 miles without voiding my warranty. Ask your dealer but that's why mine said.
Please make sure it is done correctly! I've seen several people end up stripping out the threads on the crank because they do it incorrectly :/
