- People think step-back jumpers and escape jumpers are a bail out mechanic in NBA 2K. But if you use it just to bail you out to create space, you're doing it wrong! I go into the secrets into making sure your escape jumpers are unguardable in NBA 2K23!

there's legit nothing better than hitting someone with an escape jumper, greening it, then watching the other team flop 😂😂
Especially when more than not you try to execute the move but the game does something else instead of what you're trying to do.
@@younglove3362 ima be 100% honest with you bro. The hop jumpers are probably the most precise thing you can do in 2K. Idk if you tryna do it by pressing square but I’ve never done the wrong move using the right stick on Zach Lavines hop jumpers. Good luck tho bro. Ik 2K be hoeing

space creator never activates on step backs and off the dribble shots. what am i doing wrong
@@GB2G my understanding is that it doesn't work for pull ups this year. Only stepback shots trigger it, and gives extra space on down flick separations I believe. Pull ups need middy magician or agent 3s

One more thing about that step back jumper is your opponent has no idea if u will pull a jumper or fake it because after a snatch back theres an animation of shooting but it is a fake one if you will not shoot it and the best part is you can continue dribbling away for a milesaway space

Yeah, that and the step-back dribble, when you're stuck in a ride animation, can lead to push offs! Clamp breaker will be helpful for those situations!

@@paperc07 best step back packages are Booker, Lowry, and Steph. Harden has a good one but can be tricky. Tatum has some good combos too

And the part where you talk about preference of right stick or square was interesting because my preference is opposite because i like to combine the escapes with a real step back later in the stationary combo once i see the defender stop playing the step back

@KevinCruz016 not criticizing you, just saying. I tried these crossovers and couldn't do jack! Mostly ended up into layups or shots. And I can tell you play because I have the gamer eye 👁 starting out from the sega genesis and going up. Stopped at PS2 and skipped the rest of the councils and got back onto Nintendo with the switch. Trying to learn this MC on 2k23 while being frustrated and cheap but reaching a mere level 76 at the moment with 82 crossover.

Did you notice any difference in the make percentage with hop jumpers with the meter on vs off? I ask cause if there’s not a big difference it might be beneficial for the meter to come up when faking the jumper to make your opponent jump
Not much to be honest, but I'll have to try that out to be sure. And your point on the meter coming up when you fake is a real important one, adds a lot to the misdirection of the move!
your meter theory is actually a thing 😂😂 I do it all the time then cancel out. the speed boost is amazing for clear rim runs when people play so damn high.
@@RecapRico yeah it even gets a lot of people with no meter but I’m sure with the meters visual cue given to the defender they’ll be a lot more likely to jump.
I have a Kobe Bryant Build that has been so much fun especially in the midrange creating my own shot it defentily requires skill and many of my Rec players I play with get a little shock when they see me put some handles togther and step backs and all that.

Turbo ahead do moving crossover forward then just using LS I go left or right making sure its above free throw then RT + RS away from the defender but I am cancelling the shot so I could continue moving around and do it again and from there I can shoot or drive with my 85 layup on an 360 lay or scoop layup from Ja cause i lt reminded me a lot of D rose
Anyone notice if higher space creator gives you more push off animations??
I didn't do badge tests yet, but I would think that that would help, combined with some stagger animations too!

Does this work well on ps4?, i can do the same moves and no matter whos the defender theyre all over it.
I can have tons of space but it feels like the game slows me down allowing for the cpu to close out. Defense seems different compared to the ps5. Thoughts?

Early! But go with what is most comfortable for you!
Trouble for me is I still have to make the shot! In pro it's easy, in all star and above I can hardly hit them, even when wide open! Frustrating that the shot difficulty is such a huge step up, especially when the CPU AI goes to a different level too. Why can't they just make shot timing the same across all difficulties? It's a double whammy when shots are harder and defenders are 100 times better.

Hi Robert, in general, even post update I'm still maxing out at 2 boosts and still finding success. Maybe I can run you guys through how I play. But I think this is a great topic that a lot of people will benefit from. It's very specific to my style though, so if you guys play similarly I think you'll be fine!

02:24 ...The cancellation of the escape jumper animation, to me, is a metagame. It shouldn't work like that, as evidenced by the animations not being smooth and containing bugs. I wonder if it's really an intended function by the developers because, initially, it wasn't possible, and it still isn't when using the shoot button. It appeared later, with the use of the right stick. In any case... meta or not, I would really like it to be removed because everyone abuses it online. It lacks inertia, doesn't feel realistic, and completely undermines the simulation aspect.

How do you Do a moving step back?
Launch into any move that will get you driving at an angle from the basket, then hold r2 and hold the RS away from the basket!

These are impossible to hit on hof for me. I can’t even hit a fadeaway jumper on hof. You must be ELITE
Guarantee you'll get it Jay as long as your shots are Open or Wide open! So try and figure one or two set ups you like to use, because any sort of contest and the speed of the green window decreases making it tougher to hit contested shots!

It would help me tremendously to see your approach to one on one without screens to see how you consistently get by or create space
Is this even hof level. I use hof the defence doesn’t give that space they always tight
All my footage across all clips are on HOF. The step-back wont give you space on its own, got to set it up right too.
It's been 32 hrs since carefully building another from the Rebirth. No sleep, I find sweet spot for unlimited auto a. breakers here with a double takeover of an a. breaking shots. Hof a. breaker, quick step cored by killer combos. I just stayed on 92 drib and speed drib and the only height u can achieve this is on 6'4 below sadly and I make sure I have a str of 82 to get silv bully by tweaking weight and wingsp.

Hello nice video, I'm on next gen xbox, 6"9 SF 64 ovr and few badges In each section. When I go to check and get a step up escape package it doesn't show and I even try going to animation store but nothing there is this a bug?
I'm not really sure, do you mean size-up escape package? I don't play MyCareer yet, but the animation package should be available there for you to choose and equip your package.

Anyone else finding it to hard to make combos? This game need a diploma to play it takes out fun. Like i dont have time to practice all moves for hours
This is true, and I’ve been thinking about this topic a lot. The reason why I got so good is because I spend a lot of time practicing. I think 2K can improve its accessibility, so that people learn moves much easier. I plan on making tutorials a bit more beginner friendly next time (starting in 24).
But to answer your question, I still struggle with some combos in the game. Especially if I have not used someone in a long time.

Definitely shouldn't be happening, either you're tapping the right stick down too many times, or cancelling out of it.
@Kevin Cruz Nah I'm trying standstill and driving stepbacks by flicking the right stick back but I keep doing the double stepback. When I make and test a build I don't have a problem tho

I use Kyle Lowry on my 6'10 PF. His step back gives a lot of space.
Yeah Chilli69Palmer is 100 percent right, Kyle Lowry's is 1B to Booker's 1A. If you can get that, you're good! But I also love Zach Lavine's step-backs!

How can you defend that when someone does it to you
You got to send help if you're committed to guarding the initial drive. If it's someone like Kyle Lowry, you can recover because he has a wind up to his step-back jumper. But someone like Devin Booker or Steph is tough because his shot is smooth off a step-back, got to admit that if someone knows what they're doing and you're not able to send a second defender or you're not able to recover quick and contest quickly, you just got to hope they miss.
