This is how the game should be played using the mechanics to its fullest. Not using spams and glitches I appreciate your content and what you are doing for the community keep it going. The real ones recognize you.
I appreciate you bro! I think the movement is on its way to bring more of the cool basketball concepts into the game, we just got to keep pushing as a community bro!!
How I do it is neutral left stick, flick the right stick in opposite direction and then hold in the direction I want to trigger the release of the shot. Easier than doing dribble moves with right stick, and then using square. Neutral stick only works if you execute a hop jumper backwards, left and right hop jumpers result in a pull up.
I'm really enjoying the contest system in this game. That James Harden clip, while still greenable, would not have counted as a wide open shot in previous 2Ks simply because the defender jumped towards you.
Yeah 100% I also love it if a steph curry shooting some 3s into my face, even if I defend quote ok-ish at Times. Very enjoyable. Edit: sounds sarcastic but I mean it :) mycareer is so much more fun this year
@6dotz - Agreed. They've adjusted the contests like 3 patches in a row but I hope they find a good balance. I've had a couple stepbacks that counted as 40% contested when someone wasn't really that close to me
I want to thank you. Last year I used your videos for post-moves and looked like a pro 2k player in rec against most people. This year I have a Guard I am having a lot of fun with the build is perfect I just need a bag of tricks and moves to get myself open. You had a few dribble moves I have mastered already.
Screen into a stepback jumper after I get a tiny bit of separation is what's getting me to get comfortable with Luka's stepback, so this is...as always, much appreciated, Kev.
It’s too bad shot creating isn’t great in the Rec. Randoms don’t give you enough room to breakdown your defender or they complain if you have the ball longer than 2 seconds. Low IQ off ball movement moving their defender into the open spots you’re targeting, but outside of 5v5 I can pretty much do what I want. Shot creating feels unguardable when done right this year. And with the additional do the whistle badge you can punish people who jump at you when they’re way out of position. I always felt like jump shot fouls weren’t prevalent enough in past 2ks and that let defenders play poor defense and get away with by jumping with high stats. The game has some issues but it feels really good to play right now.
Try spot up on the baseline, and kept your attack between 1 and 2 dribbles, it keeps them from wrapping you, and if you leave yourself enough space you’ll have space to drive the baseline and setup your shot creating
My problem is whenever I do a step back my player create such little space and the defender closes out too much. I even have space creator on hall of fame
Hi Kevin i apreciate your content a lot I find all the tips you give very valuable and useful for enjoying one-on-one matches. The problem is that in the higher leagues of the game, people don't defend manually but instead rely on the pivot to wait for you and let the team work automatically. Do you think one should play against this type of people and what kind of strategies could be applied?"
For these types of users you’re going to have to be really good in beating the cpu and forcing them to match up to you. I also like to punish these users by running plays or freelances. I think to be really good at 2K you have to be used to playing different types of users, but I do think its boring to play against these types of users man, so i understand!
I dont understand what you mean by momentum to create further step back jumper. Can you be more spesific? Do you mean that we need to make a contact to defender first to create those momentums?
Nah you gotta manipulate the defenders momentum that shit all be split seconds ( the reason he has to pause the video or slow it down while explaining each move ) so really it's good to jus practice moves in mynba or sum to get yo sauce up
I’m still not understanding how to get the open or wide open coverage when doing the step backs.. even when creating moving momentum.. what am I doing wrong Mr.Cruz? What am I not getting??
If it's stepbacks, gotta be space creator. Agent 3s will be for leaners, and off the dribble 3 point shots. But any stepback animation is tied to space creator!
Im not gonna lie. Its so hard to play like this when worrying about shot timing, teammate grade etc. I think thats the biggest challenge for me mentally playing this game
I respect it man, that and playing with randoms usually means you got a small window to be able to cook how you like. But if you get really good, they have no choice but to respect your sauce!
In 2k22 and 2k23 if you just flicked the right stick down you would do a stepback and create space, now in 2k24 it does the opposite, the defender literally gets right up in your face with no separation I hate how this mechanic is in 24 😢
@@Highfreqgaming or you can flick the right stick left then right (hold) as you pass the arc to trigger it too or vice versa to get different animations depending on your ball hand.
The problem is the game is so inconsistent when it comes to actually activating the moves. I cannot do a step back on a drive. It never happens. Half the time I just do a pull up when moving laterally as well.
I always use a stepback when a big switches onto me, I fake the drive a hit the step back. They’re too slow to react to it and their perimeter defence is too low to affect the shot if they do try to contest it. Then later in the game I’ll fake it, get them to jump and they free throws on the shooting foul
I’m having trouble triggering the step back animations at times. A lot of times I’ll pull up for a random jump shot instead of stepping back, forward, or whatever direction I intend to. This is the first year I’ve ever had the problem, am I doing something wrong?… nevermind he answered at the end
