If all we had was his shooting of the kids and the scene where they hide his body, it could be argued that Todd might have regretted it later or that it was a lapse in his judgment, but this scene really shows us that in his mind, the heist went "perfect". You don’t have the location, the date, the names, nothing really. And there’s not even a report about anything like that, nobody knows it happened. The police would be like “ok. We’ll look into it” and never do anything about it. It’s completely safe. I love the Hooper reference and compliments here in this scene. Hooper actually was a good movie. Reynolds started appearing in a lot of bad movies right around then, and for some reason, Hooper seems to have been unfairly tossed into that heap which for anybody who has actually seen it knows it doesn't belong in the pile with Stroker Ace and Heat and too many others to name.

Boogie Nights pulled him out of that mess. It's arguably, aside from Deliverance, his greatest role. And he hated that movie and the director. Marky Mark DamdiCaprio also hates the movie too now that he's a Jesus freak who's guilty over blinding a Vietnamese guy and not stopping 9/11
