Indeed, great writing there, you can see Walter's horror at the head-shake as Hank says "didn't matter, it made me keep at it" - oh dear, he realizes he has thrown this dog a bone because of his own stupid remark! lol
Let's just pretend what Hank believes Walt to be is accurate. Pretend he isn't Heisenberg and it's just the same Walt from Season 1, before the pilot. What Hank is asking Walt to do here is insane. At best he's making him an accomplice to illegal surveillance of a private citizen. At worst, Gus is a drug kingpin and he's putting Walt, Skyler, and their kids at risk all to fuel his vigilantism. And when Walt communicates that he's uncomfortable doing it and he's visibly scared, Hank guilt trips him. Some real scumbag behavior.
Hank was an unbelievably bad agent and I can’t believe people still defend that. Hank had NOTHING but a hunch. He risked his career, his reputation, and *his family’s lives* on a hunch that kept turning up nothing or staying a step ahead of him over and over again. He disregarded the chain of command AND the law at large so many times that even catching Heisenberg would have potentially landed him in jail/prison or gotten him disgraced and fired from his career anyway. If you take away our audience perspective and just see him as his peers and loved ones do, you have a man, who keeps getting into increasingly dangerous situations, never solving a case in any meaningful way until eventually he takes a bullet in the head. He’s an amazing character, but part of that amazing character is intertwined with the fact that we, the audience, know he’s right. Without that you just have a loose cannon cop who blatantly and often callously puts others in harm’s way.
(Translation) Gus: Thank you Mr White for bringing this to my attention. Don't worry, now that you've made me aware, obviously I'll be sure not to drive anywhere suspicious. Now stop jeapordising both of us and put the goddamn tracker on my car!
Well Gus was so pissed off at Walter at this point that this was probably the last straw and he decided to go ahead with firing Walter and killing Hank even sooner than planned.
It's fun rewatching both Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul, but trying to see the series through the point of view of Gus or Hank. Gus spent decades building up the perfect meth empire that was ruined in a little over a year by Walt who got him killed, & Hank worked his way up the DEA trying to bring down a meth empire that ended up being ran by his brother in law Walt who also got him killed.
@@troymcclure681 It's easy to blame Jesse, but really it all stems from Gus, who cared about nothing except getting revenge on the Cartel. At this point, Hank doesn’t know Walt is Heisenberg, and he doesn’t know Gus is a distributor. We only know that as an audience. Hank is an amazing character but a god awful cop. Gomez was a good cop and Hank got him killed by way of his obsession with Walt.
i know is not a comedy, but is very funny to see walter's faces when hank is telling him the plan like they are the sneakies people in the world and mike is parking right next to them while walt knows that they have like 10 people looking at their every move the moment they entered the parking.
