This engine is about 200,000km old. I'm a mechanic by trade with 15 years experience, you don't get that gold tarnish on an engine with 40,000km. The oil on the cam covers shows the gaskets had a weep and the dust has settled into the oil leak. All these are tell tail signs the engine is in the 200,000km plus range.
When he puts the screw driver into the cam sprockets he's locking it because if you let it free spin it'll ruin the VVT cam phaser, they cost like 2-3k each.
I think 200.000 miles or more. Cars with 200.000km didn't look that dirty.
At 3:53 he starts dropping the pistons and turning them to show that the other side is scratched/pitted, do you have any idea on what may have caused that and why is it on one side only?
@@dominozonda that's the major thurst side, likely dust has managed to get there.
For everyone wondering why the engine was destroyed and saying it was bad maintenance or that the engine was 400k instead of 40k. It was very clearly shown at the very begining of the video what the reason for this damage is. The throttle body was full of sandy mud and grit, which was sucked into the cylinders. Possibly the air pipe was not installed correctly or had a tear in it.
So what were the driver(s) doing? Driving on the beach/in the surf? Through a flood?
It's a Mercedes. They need a Motor Rebuilt every 50k .
My CLK 350 Cabriolet 2006 has 280.000 km and still Spinning like a cat.

In argentina the most part of engines most run at least 300 k km, and we are talking the most chepeast of the market, if your engine need a dissasembly before that, here it is cosiderer like garbage
Прежде чем разбирать двигатель его нужно хорошо помыть сверху. Как автомобиль. Работать с чистым двигателем приятнее. Это называется - культура труда.
Так то оно так, но эти люди наверняка заранее в курсе, что мотору этому путь один- на помойку потому и не мыли.

This motor clearly ingested a lot of sand and dirt and that's why the engine is worn out at 40,000 km. We see this a lot more in off-road applications but it can happen on the street as well.

Crank & mains look ok, but oil pretty dark looking. Terrible piston scuffing, especially for 40k km . Looks to me like they never changed the original oil/filter. It probably overheated by running oil level low, and/or water level low, and/or heavily loaded engine by excessive rpm/ towing a heavy load.

Watch the video, there were sand in the engine. The pistons were all scratched and the oil lines were clogged so it needs repair

If that engine had only 40 000km it may well be worn out but it wouldn't have that brown patena inside the crankcase and head. In fact, it would probably look almost new.
Exactly, with only 40000km, engine inside looks like new, even with 100000km.

بس ما شاء الله محركات هوندا جبارة بس اهتم لمواضيع الحرارة الي ما بتعاني منهم سيارات هوندا و لكن تحسبا عطلت مروحة او سكر ثرمستات و لا تهمل الزيت و انسى
اما المرسيدس ااي ب الفيديو هي واحد من ثنين اما خطاء في الكتابة منقصين صفر او عطل مفاجئ في طرمبة الزيت او اهمال تغيير الزيت و انسداد الفلتر فا لا تستغرب عادي تكون هيك حالة محرك ب هاد الممشى اذا ما كان في تزييت جيد او استعمال ل زيت غير مناسب و ذو جودة رديئة

Reason for internal damage was apparently from sucking up dirt on the intake, from what the comments are saying

M272 engine. This is not normal. I believe it is not maintained properly. There is a lot burnt old oil in it, and it seems that inlet boot befor the throttle was not mounted properly that's why the dirt in the throttle.
I have similar engines in my benzes with 140,000 miles and 185,000 miles never had any issues, this is clearly lack of maintenance or unnecessary Tare down
It is necessary once in few tens of thousands kilometres to tear down your engine to prevent excessive wear of some engine parts!

Никто не знает сколько моточасов отработал этот двигатель, на s-class которые возят начальство и разных власть имущих людей, водители очень долго могут стоять с заведеным двигателем в ожидании шефа, обычно задиры на двигателях с алюсиловым покрытием начинаются от 150к пробега
