I love thr M272. I dont know why but this engine really fascinates me. I got in my C Class. I heard about the balance shaft issue with the early M272 Series. Since ive watched a video where they replaced it i fell in love with engineering of this one. Its for sure not the cheapest engine to drive with but once you fixed all of these issues you got a really reliable and nice sounding V6.
The M272 is probably the worst V6 Mercedes has ever built. I had one and it’s a pain in the ass. You basically have to cross fingers every time you start the engine that the engine check light stays off. I had pretty much every problem you can have with this engine. And it has A LOT of problems. I would recommend anyone to stay away from it. Go for the old M112 or the newer M276.
@@JustinsSupercars The M276 is the worst V6 Engine Mercedes has ever built. As i already said the M272 is pretty reliable. I guess you had some bad luck. no need to cross your fingers everytime imo
@@Lak62_101 The M267? Bro sorry but that’s nonsense. The M267 is fantastic. The normal 306hp version has some timing chain problems. That’s true. Other than that it’s bulletproof. The Turbo versions of the engine wich can be found in the E400, S400 and the 43AMG models is absolutely bulletproof and had no common issues at all. It’s very reliable and even if you try you will not find anything bad about this engine online. The M272 however is horrible. I have never seen anyone who was happy with it. Timing chain problems, timing shaft of course, intake manifolds are horrific, camshaft magnets go bad all the time, camshaft adjusters are known to break, oil pump problems all the time, tilted pistons that cause the very famous M272 ticking noise at idle, I could go on and on. The M272 CGI version is not better. High pressure pumps that are guaranteed to fail at a certain mileage cost 4500€ (yes four THOUSAND five hundred) and can only be bought from Mercedes. One injector costs 1200€. It’s a nightmare. That’s why people want to get rid of this engine as fast as possible. Cars with that engine are usually very very cheap.
@@JustinsSupercars Iam happy with my M272 so are most people i know. The problems you mentioned are true and i fully agree with you expect for the camshaft adjusters. They are expensive but ive never seen or heard about a broken one. The CGI Versions are really something special. The high pressure pump is something i dont wanna talk about. its just a shame :( Okay i need to say the M276 is not the worst engine its was a little bit unreasonable. Iam sorry But Ive seen a lot really disappointed M276 owners. The first gens had problems with the chain tensioner and the timing chain. But if you want to replace and fix the timing chain you need to disassemble literally everything. i dont need to tell you how expensive this is. Its really A LOT more then a balance shaft repair on the M272. But in the end of the day this is just my humble opinion.
@@Lak62_101 When you are happy, I am happy for you. I have to say the few months that the engine drove without a problem it was a pleasant engine to drive :)
I don’t understand the head bolt torquing procedure. What is he using? It doesn’t look like they are torqued to 90 degree angle evenly, plus they say never put tensioner in before valve covers are installed
Where can I can parts for these ? Are you getting them directly from mercedes? All I can find is cheap aliexpress engine overhaul kits that I would never trust.
190k (miles not km) on our R350 never had the cam covers off. Original water pump, starter, alternator, etc. Had to replace the plastic oil covers and crankcase vent valve (basically pcv) on back of engine, replaced crank position sensor... wonderful, reliable engine!
Хорошая работа!- лайк! Ещё бы показали заведённую!...

Excellente travaille vraiment très professionnel rien à dire 👍👍👍👍
Très bon travail 👍 👍, merci pour le partage
You would think a high end Mercedes-benz would have factory form gaskets so a little caught off guard how they defer to drawing bead sealant
I love these videos
