Would be funny if you included clips of you using a traditional mop with black and white filter showing how difficult using a regular mop can be, or any regular product. Great review
Lol, I love when they do that, the actor always is overly dramatic and the way they're using the original item is vastly impractical to how it's really used.
And don’t forget the “scratched” film look 🤣🤣🤣
Oh yes! With a over exaggerated shrug and/or facepalm!
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley Exactly, scum advertising. Even high-level medicine does this.
They make rectangular mop buckets, usually they're about 18" long, that would eliminate the struggle using a regular round bucket, dipping one end, and then the other. Seems like a good mop, although we don't know how long it will last.
Agree, or some type of taller and thinner container or bucket.
@@dechesino601 You can pick up bucks made for rectangular mop heads at any hardware store. Normally they have two compartments one for water & cleaning solution the other to ring out the mop when dirty. I don't think a taller more narrow bucket would be a good idea. It would be heavier than necessary. As well as prone to spills and tip overs. A wide short buck doesn't require much water to submerge the mop head. Making it much lighter that a tall narrow bucket filled with water. Also the short wide bucket is much more stable because the center of gravity is very close to the ground.
THEY DO?! 🤯 You learn something new every day!
@@ericdunthorne1981 I didn't know they were available. Good to know.
Window washing buckets. Yes, has 2 sides divided.
I’ve used mops like this for years, they are good at picking up any hair or fluff. Only thing I don’t like is that if left unused for a longer time they get rock hard and you need to spend some time soaking it in water.
It’s definitely helpful to see these videos. If anything it gives me some ammo while considering a purchase. I have made a number of purchases based on your reviews. Your approach is very unassuming. Keep them coming.
I have something similar and work for me very well but cannot replace totally the common mop we have, conventional mop., Why? well as you can see he never use any kind of floor cleaner or any product that contains soap because it creates a lot of bubbles and trust that is a problem.
if you have solar panels this mop is good cleaning them.
I love the old mop reviews on TV. This harkens to that 😀
HARKENS
but using plain water will daamge hardwood floors
Ha n so cool to see you here Rick NineG!
@@bySterling Much love
wow, your timing is impeccable! I am looking for a new mop and was planning to research what kinds are out there. This is pretty much exactly what I was hoping to find, so your review is perfect to give me an idea of if I want to purchase it. Thank you!
There sponge/PVA mops perform okay but you'll find the point of failure is where the sponge attaches to to the mounting bracket (which you then attach to the mop head). My experience with these is the adhesive is not heat tolerant and will break after sometimes even one heavy mopping session with some hot water like you might do when cleaning a bathroom/toilet. You end up throwing out a perfectly good hunk of essentially plastic because the glue has failed and then need to buy another sponge!
i still like my Swiffer wet jet over this. thanks for the demo!
I think the old school spinning Mop is still the best
I had one of the older ones. I hated it. I was always the "get the floor pretty wet with the mop, then wing the mop out and soak all th he yuck back up with the mop" kind of person. This wouldn't really put a lot of liquid down, it's more like scrubbing with a damp towel that's seriously resisting being moved across the floor.
Hard to find a reviewer with a genuine approach. Have been a subscriber for over a year I believe and love it! Keep em' coming. Hope your not burnt out! As a side note, am a big shark tank fan and keep my eyes peeled especially for those! 😉
I think I really like this. I have a Libman Swiffer-esque mop and a regular cloth mop right now. I got the Swiffer-esque one because I figured it'd be faster...but it wasn't. The thing just pushed around dirty water on the floor, making me have to rip the pad off (which is difficult as it really sticks on there) and either rise it out or change pads. And even that didn't stop it from just pushing dirty water back and forth. Oh, and that's not counting the need to repeatedly refill the container, either.
Because of its failure, I went back to a traditional cloth mop that I can wring out. It takes quite some effort to do so, though it cleans much better. I now live in a smaller space though so the Swiffer-esque mop might do alright here instead of when my kitchen was much larger and walked all over with shoes (now that I live alone, I very rarely go beyond my entrance with shoes). And the two bathrooms in my apartment are also very small. I can clean all three spaces with very little water. But if I should ever move to somewhere bigger again, I'll seriously consider getting this mop!
This looks like those super mops I remember seeing on QVC like two decades ago, just with improved rinsing design.
I've tried several different types of mops this year, including this type.
I didn't like this type because it needs to be ran under water before you can use it and it's a hassle to clean.
The best one I've found so far is the deerma spray mop.
It doesn't need a bucket because you just fill the included bottle with water and your choice of cleaning solution.
And I have 8 replaceable pads, so I just swap it every night and then throw them all in the washing machine at the end of the week.
I have to mop our floors every night, so I wanted something with the least amount of hassle.
I considered the swiffer but it seemed like it was going to be expensive and wasteful to use disposable pads.
best mop is a traditional old fashioned mop and leave it in chlorine solution to clean it after use ...
You can buy reusable pads for the swiffet at the dollar store.
Swiffer juice is sticky and needs to be rinsed, good choice
@@shamelessstacib7351
You can make your own juice and put it in the bottle.
Put the bottle upside down in very hot water (not boiling) and then the cap can be screwed out.
The refillable ones that are made to do that are just better 😁
One thing I like about PVA type mops is that the floor tends to not be as wet after mopping, so the floor is dry more quickly.
We had a PVA mop when I was a teenager, it was fine. Better than a string mop. It had a similar drying mechanism, but the head stayed horizontal and was pulled through two rollers. I have all of10 square feet of hard floor in the house I'm in now so a swiffer is more than enough for me at this time
I had one pretty much like you described in my family home ever since I could remember, so it was probably bought sometime in the early 90's. It was really useful to keep near the entrance or in the kitchen to clean up any mud from shoes and spills or crumbs. We never used a bucket, just cleaned it under running water in a bathtub like he does in the video. For small/medium spaces and quick cleanups it's perfect and it's also pretty durable, as ours lasted for years.
I've used PCA mops for years. They are harder to push but when you rise the amount of dirt that comes up is crazy and picks up pet hair! I know my floors are clean!! There are cheaper PVA. I recently cleaned walls covered in nicotine with this type of mop best for deep cleaning!!!
I would say the cleaner that is being used would play a really big part of getting the dried things from the floor.
A very interesting looking mop. As usual the honest review is appreciated.
James, your reviews are always so helpful!
I have tried a lot of mops and mop systems ( I own a cleaning company) and I have yet to find one I just cannot live without.
Good for you. Tell us the best when you do.
The mop mechanics in modern times are breaking down: butterfly mops are faulty.
Im pretty sure I requested this a few months ago thank you James. Keep up they great work and I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas! 🎅
The downside to this mop is that it doesn't look like medusas head and it also doesn't sling dirty mop water all over the place
Yeah huge con not getting your leg splattered with mop water
Yea that sucks😳
Suggestion for dipping to get wet. A section of rain gutter or a piece of PVC pipe capped on one end. Bucket 🪣 for the rinse/drain.
In all my years of doing housekeeping I have never seen anything like this in anyone's home and it is actually a little bit exciting. Feeling a little strange about that but I appreciate your review nonetheless lol.
I guess all your years don't go back to the 1980's.
Haha no I'm not a 50 or 60 year old housekeeper, thank god for my body
I remember this mop from the 90's. Sold like crazy for a short time, then forgotten. Worked well for small things and home use. Was utterly useless at cleaning up large spills and/or store usage.
I loved that mop from the 90's and would buy it in a second. This is the closest I have seen to that and can't wait to get it 😊
@@gerdacardenas5218 Links, please.
Definitely love this review. Great observations and use. Reminds me of a few years ago when he was first starting out
Freaking reviews is really mopping up the competition on as seen on TV reviews
😉
Cool. Haven't come across this one. I would be anoyed trying to get it wet. Instead of a bucket tho, what about one of those low profile plastic totes? Just an idea if you keep using it. Or even a spray bottle with cleaner, although neither of those are ideal. If they could've did like the Swiffer mop/broom where it sprays from the handle, then maybe you got something there 😜👍
Love your reviews. That said, I guess I'm going to stick with my current mops! Yeah, I have two due to tile and hardwood--one for each so I do not scratch or over wet the wood. Tile needs a tougher mop for its clean.
PVA mop always have this problem : Never enter in a bucket, well this one yes in vertical position so yes a +.
Looks good and the idea of the self-cleaning tool and stand is great.
The swivel area is the thing that worries me because looks very cheap plastic, looks weak.
I've been using this a few times did a decent job but I still think getting on my knees, washing the floor is the best. I don't feel the floor is clean unless I do it this way.
I keep watching your videos! You do a great job keeping reviews personal and interesting! You just recruited a new subscriber here!
Regarding the so called Future Mop, l have something very similar. Not recommended. Fairly ok with a light clean over Hard Flooring but as it takes about 20+ minutes to become damp enough to actually use and about 3 days for mop it's self to Dry completely, you end up putting more time/effort and attention to the Mop itself rather than the Floor cleaning. And most definitely for the use of anything other than a light floor Clean and not dirt or Liquids as it simply pushes the dirt around the floor.
Brilliant idea on the stain test, ty
I remember seeing a mop about a decade ago that had a very similar mop head on it but it was Purple. I think it was a QVC item. I remember it working okay for the most part
I didn't know they were still available a decade ago. I had one in the 1980's, and it was purple too. What was old is new again.🙂
TIP: use a paint tray with water to soak the whole mop head at once
I bought my first PVA mop well over 20 years ago and loved it. It lasted many years. Fast forward to a few years ago when I thought the PVA fad had expired, I also really excited to find them for sale. While they are great, I miss the performance of the ones that were originally made decades ago.
I enjoyed the low bass background music in this video! And as always, great content!
I have a swifter jet but need something that is able to scrub laminated floor better ... how is this vs the swifter jet for scrubbing ? Or if there any other suggestions ?
For what it's worth: I provide housekeeping service for a living, and of the several flat mops that I have used over the years, my favorite so far is the Libman Freedom Spray Mop. It's reliably endured frequent use for several months now, and is very inexpensive. I also prefer to use fine-textured microfiber mop pads, since microfiber is excellent for detailed cleaning of a variety of surfaces-- and it's fairly easy to find a bunch of pads for cheap on Amazon. Hope that helps!
These kinds of mops are good for pushing away water and wiping light to medium dirt.
The frustrating part of these are usually how you need to both rinse and ring it out after most cleaning jobs.
Overall, it’s fine for new homes that don’t have the tendency to get heavily muddy or dirty. It’s advisable also to dry it out as much as possible before storing it, as the moisture could lead to mold.
Much better than the squeegee mop you tested a while ago
Might invest in one of these
Thanks for another great upload 👌🏼
That mop looks like a push broom 🧹 🤣🤣🤣
much nicer design for the wringer than the one I had. Mind had two rollers that would push down over it and squeeze it.
James, have you ever thought that youre gonna have nearly 630k subs, ever? 😃 Dude, youre hitting a million! 👊
These mops have been around since the 70s at least the only thing different is the way its squeezed out
I actually had to go out and buy this. I have used sponge mops in the past but I find the ones I have used at least tended to get really busted when using the normal wringing functions they are built with. I ended up having to buy replacement heads a lot and it was not financially viable so I would just wipe with a cloth on my hands and knees. I think I will still have to use the scrub brush for my tiles but I think this will really improve my over all going over of the apartment.
I can no longer get a refill for it :( The site is down. It lasted me about a year of HEAVY messes with my pets
Thanks for the review. My wife and I have a cat sanctuary and in several rooms we have tile with grout that has a little slight dip in it I would be curious to see how well it could clean up those areas. Also can those heads be washed in the washer?? Also what is the cost of replacement heads???
Love this channel!!
Some products like mops and brooms are like condoms…you can tinker with the design trying to improve it, but at the end of the day it’s the same product with a different design and name. I can’t think of anything you could do with a mop that would be truly useful…maybe a bottle that feeds cleaner and a wring mechanism that deposits dirty water into a separate bottle. That’s always my problem, keeping the dirty water out of my cleaner.
I can just hear his wife, "Honey. Don't you have another mop to review?" LOL
Wish you had shown a moderate (glass of water/juice/soda) spill. Don't really have a good idea of its absorbency and how well it holds liquids.
I don't know what it is about this gentleman, and I am for it!
Great work on the videos!
I think this mop would be great for me! I have the tiny spin mop bucket but it is a hassle dragging and storing it. My condo is small and am always looking for ways to save room!
Did you get it?
I want that mop. I've used plenty of sponge mops in the past and the lever squeezing mechanism with the rollers is what always breaks first because unlike this design both ends of the rollers aren't fully supported. This one has minimal size roller with both ends fully supported. One thing though, mops really shouldn't be used to remove hair and debris. You should sweep the floor with a broom first for solids, then mop it afterwards.
lol "big tuft of hair"
I raise your big tuft with my Armenian Gampr, my Papillion, and my Maine Coon
So hard to find a good mop. I bought a libman and been using it for 10 years, it helps that I can just buy new heads, especially because I have hardwood in my bedrooms and living room and my kitchen and bathroom are linoleum, so I have one head for my Murphy's wood soap and one for my Mr clean. I've spent probably over 100 bucks on Swiffer wet jets and the spin mop and they all just push the dirt around
Being in Florida 90% of my floors are hard. And we are full time working dog owners who are always tired lol so daily mopping isn’t ideal. And I’ve pretty much axed sweeping all together. I just vacuum all of my floors, and use a robot vacuum in the main living area. As far as mopping, i steam mop only now really. It’s safer for the dogs (over chemicals used in things like swiffer) less waste etc. and I recently got a new shark one with rotating pads, it’s awesome i frikkin love it lol. My favorite traditional mop tho has got to be the spin mop, when I was potty training my now 4 year old pit mix it was a life saver, lol.
Growing up my mom was the queen of qvc/as seen on tv shopping. There were so many weird things she bought that ended up being awesome and things a lot of people didn’t know about until they became mainstream (first thing that comes to mind are “lock n lock” food storage containers. She’s had them for decades, but they only recently became kind of a normal thing, albeit by different brands.
This seems pretty decent. However I don’t think it will beat my dry cloth Swiffering and then using a steam mop. I have real wood floors, never had problems with steam. The steam mop gets the floor cleaner than anything else. They look good longer. Having said that, just everyday cleaning this would do the trick.
I would never give up my steam mop. Everything else just moves the dirt around.
You’ve saved me hundreds since I started watching your channel a couple years ago.
Thank you for reviewing these products. Perhaps this mop would work best with a larger bucket.
Want to order this but what buckets recommendation don’t see it on website
I just wish that consumers had access to the same mop bucket that school janitors have. If I could have one of those I wouldn't care to Mop.
Should be able to buy at any janitorial supply or online.
Home Depot, Rubbermaid pro mop bucket. Or the Unger mop bucket.
I love your videos!!!! I won’t be buying that mop for my apartment. Loving your review and format!
I suffer terribly with OCD and I’m a severe germaphobe, I take two medications and see a therapist. That’s embarrassing to admit…but videos like this are so helpful. I have a couple different mops I use for different rooms. I gotta try this mop.
What a clean tub!
Dear Catherine. Adverting hypnosis. The clean tub will be the recipient of all the dutty water, grime, and slim from the mop when you think of taking your next bath.
Well you demonstrated and to me it looks like it works great, and you don't get your hands wet or dirty, and it's so out-of-the-way type of mop, it won't take up much space, I looked were you usually have items to buy, it's not listed hmm I would love to know where would I buy it, where did you buy it,
I used to have a mop very similar to that one. The do work very well.
My is tip get a robot vacuum and mop in 1. It's mopping is not great but when you let it mop every day it's much easier when you do it properly when needed. Just get the cheapest one that has lidar. They perform all about the same. I had super expensive ones and cleaned about the same as the cheap versions.
If you were to get a Rubbermaid, or wider storage container, would work better than a bucket for clean water.
Just something wide enough to fit the width of the mop head.
Nice review! Seems like a good mop. Would be great if i could actually get one. Just wanted to warn your viewers not to bother trying to order one of these via their website right now. I ordered one on January 8th, 2022 and now on February 21st, 2022 I'm still waiting on it. I called their customer support. Hit 9 on the first menu to hear other products then 3 on the 2nd menu for the Mighty Thirsty Mop and got right to a person to check status of the order. Don't bother with any online options to check the order status. As near as i can tell, they don't work. Unfortunately, she said my order has not even been processed yet! They hadn't charged my card apparently, but still, she said it would be early March before it's processed. We'll see. I was happy enough to get a person on the line fairly easily and now that i've seen this video, encouraged enough about the product itself, to not just cancel the order. At any rate, figured I'd let your viewers know that they may be waiting a very long time if they try to order one of these on the company's web site.
Surprised that finally something works as advertised. Now I want to give it a try.
Could you do a video on a suitable replacement for the in and out mop? They don’t sell heads anymore hard to find
I definitely had a mop like that growing up.
Where's that Mandelbrot set map/analysis in the background at the end of the video from?
You can’t convince me otherwise, the o-Cedar spin mop is the best mop ever.
And the new updated one with the clean water compartment made it perfect!
@@mhanshaw165 I don’t think I’ve seen that 😳😳😳
it requires a bucket or running back to the tap. I just received my deerma spray mop and it is so damn easy to use. I can just grab it already prefilled with water and detergent and instantly get to work. No carrying a bucket or wringing, and when it gets too dirty I just peel off the detachable fabric and slap on a spare one.
@@zioxei I think part of the fun is stomping on the pedal to spin the mop though to ring it out, lol. Is the spray mop you're referring to similar to a Swiffer?
@@semperxfix10 I don't know what a Swiffer is, but basically the mop has a canister near the bottom and you pull a trigger on the handle to spray your water detergent mix in front of the mop and it has velcro cloth pads that you can quickly change for some fresh ones
Do you have a review for the Bissell CrossWave or other similar vacuum and mop combos?
I don’t care who you are, the ocedar mop head and then throw it in the wash is the best. I grew up with yellow sponge mops and all the stupid ones with spray you gotta buy that don’t work at all, the ocedar works, is sanitary and has lasted the test of time. Fave.
Setting your self up for a easy plumbing products review putting that hair down your tub drain ;p next level review prep efficiency. great channel this is the only review channel that i come to find products i may not know i want vs the normal use of just looking to see if something is the quality its advertised.
Wherever I purchase this mop from? I would love to buy it,
I went with a microfiber mop; works perfectly and can be rung out/washed in the washing machine. Also worked perfectly for waxing which in my case was Simoniz Ultra HIGH Gloss 33% Solids Floor Finish Wax. This is the Mop... MAYSHINE Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop. It works and true 360..
I use a spray/squirt bottle to put mop solution on the floor then mop it up & just rinse it off in sink or tub. This saves you from having to figure out a bucket solution.
Wow! A mop resurrected from the 1980's. Mine worked fine but after awhile the mop head started losing chunks and the head needed replacing, which was fine until they stopped selling them. Now they're back. Are these heads replaceable or do you have to buy a new mop?
Hoping to make a purchase one day and no related comment, why would a turkey-shaped pillow even be considered a good pillow? I’m flipped out over your reviews, love it.
You know when James floats into my notifications I'm watching it regardless of where I am.
Double Wow!
Weird question but where did you buy ur couch..?
OK having to go to the tub to rinse it after a few swipes is a pain in the behind so how did you miss that?
All about that base!
Did you try it on a wet stain-like spilled coffee? The video showed those getting sucked up and leaving the floor so dry that a napkin dropped on the formerly wet spot could be blown away with a breath.
James, I’ve enjoyed your reviews for years but I feel like I’ve missed something. What’s the deal with the move to the apartment? In any case, thanks for the reliable reviews and best of luck to you!
What bothers me in the ads is that they show rinsing the mop by running dust and hair down the drain. Not something I would want to do.
Of course right before this video I see a commercial for a no-mess mop. Lololol
I hate to mop but I love to vacuum with the hard floor setting on and I rarely mop as I live alone with no animals and wear slippers or socks in the house. This mop needs a special designed bucket in my opinion ad it looked too long for the bucket used. I wonder how much replacement Sponges cost ?
Good review, however I always vacuum the floor before mopping and I don’t let things like spills dry on the floor-the dog would lick them up if i left them there
Leave it for a week and the end goes hard as a rock, had a few of them they were all really bad. I just use cheap £1 mop ends now. I get a months use of of them at least i just wash them in the garden with jet wash between use.
LOL... The ringing out made my immature self snicker.
Would you ever consider doing "as seen on youtube" ? I'm intered in products like clean my space produces.
I suggested this quite some time ago but even though he responded there still hasn't been anything done.
For some reason these mops are oddly satisfying when you ring them out 💧
To Mike. These mops must be good for you to fetishize them.
you need to get multiple grout cleaning products and go to town on the tile grout and show us whats best!
Would you get this or the roborock S7?
