As some other people pointed out the Go-donut was sold at Walmarts in their special sale electronics bins for about $5. I bought one and bought a couple more for stocking stuffers when they clearanced at $2. I liked that it could hold up my iPad while I watched a movie during lunch at work.
I got my godonut from Walmart a few years back for $5. I don't use it for anything except hands free viewing of RUclips while sitting or laying down. I wouldn't give $30, but $5 is a good deal imho

I got a GoDonut for Christmas but haven't used it yet. I found that my roll of packing tape has the perfect sized center hole to hold my phone and allow angle adjustments.
That is some genius upcycling on your part using the center roll of packing tape to hold your phone and allow angle adjustments... are you just using the empty cardboard from the packing tape and do you cut any slots in it to hold the phone such as the openings in the GoDonut? I have an Otterbox Defender on my phone which has the belt clip that can be used to watch my phone in landscape mode, but was wondering if you found yourself ever needing or wanting to use the center of the packing tape roll to hold in the upright mode at all and if so for what types of things would you use it upright for? Sorry, I'm not a big selfie taker, but would like to be able to keep my phone steady and stable for my telehealth Dr visits and at a more flattering angle than I get when trying to sit in a recliner just balancing my phone between my knees🤦♀️
I use a Smartphone-Holder from Ikea that only costs 5 € in Germany and I love it. It's made of wood, looks neat and has a good angle. This doughnout looks like a dog-toy and costs 30 $?! For real? Fo3 25 Dolars I expect more angle-variations (which is possible, there is space for it), a fine material (transparent, steel, wood) and a good weight.

Hi James a while back they were advertising a cell bank that had a solar panel batteries for charging cell phones and so forth. Would love to see a review of that
I will save you time and guarantee you that it doesn't work, a powerbank for current phones is 10,000mah or higher and to charge that with the tiny solar panel would probably take weeks.
@@Orphioux right after I wrote that comment I decided to look it up. There are several reviews. A one panel the size of the bank takes approximately 10 to 12 days to charge. They have other banks with four panels that unfold and take about four to six days to charge. Each charge of one of these Banks will charge the average cell phone 6 and 1/2 times. So not super efficient. It looks like the best way to go is to get a by fold panel that is slightly larger and plug that directly into a power bank. But still 4 to 6 days for six battery charges is not horrible
Bought a similar if not identical product as the go donut at Walmart and it worked very well. I use my phone as an electronic book and for making video calls. Oh, and I paid $4 for it.

I honestly like the phone holder that you carry on your wallet better, all these other ones are ok for small things I guess. I guess the cameraman one was pretty cool if you do a lot of video chats but lowers the video quality

I would not trust downloading an app from a questionable source that allows a camera to follow me and "secretly" take my picture. You're asking to be hacked.
Ikea makes a similar phone holder as the donut... except it's square and made of bamboo. But it's something like three dollars. Works so much better than that expensive donut.
For the Go-Donut. It only has 2 angles. One on each side. Those 2 grooves are literally for your phones case to have clearance. That is not an 'extra' angle.
The Doo-hickey is cool, that it automatically reverses the image. I can't tell you how annoying it is to watch videos with stuff on a shirt or, on anything it everything is backward. That's a plus for such a On seen TV product. It's also a pet peeve to film portrait mode, and this seems to give a bigger area. If course not like landscape where you get more context when filming if you're filming with a lot to see.
I'm guessing the one notch that "wasn't working" was for perfectly vertical holding it using the outside of the donut as the rest for the rear of the phone (ie shooting over the donut)
Back when I had nails, I can tell you, they are as effective as 14:12. Anything else thin that is relatively sturdy will also get the job done. (I don't advise you use your nails too much - mine wouldn't break but might bend, creating a bruise under the nail... ow)
My theory is that it should have been "Mobile Phone Stand" but the language barrier caused an issue. What tracker do you use on your tripod camera? Thanks for the videos. Keep up the good work. 😁
That donut phone holder saved our lives from getting into an accident when the person I was with refused to buy a phone holder to get around a new city driving a rental car without a gps. I KEEP that donut phone holder in my suitcase. Ours is yellow and I got it at Walmart for about $5.00.
That's exactly what I was going to say, and if not a popsocket an old gift card can be bent, and turned into a makeshift stand of which I use to keep on my desk before popsockets were a thing.
That Phone Man could be a good idea, but I wonder why it limits the resolution so low? If it worked with your actual camera app it may be something worth buying...

Check your Walmart clearance isle. Doohickey cameraman is in that isle at our's. My wife just bought 1 for $8. She also bought a BulbHead Cup Call cupholder phone mount for $9, and a 2 pack GO WARMER cordless rechargeable hand heater with flashlight for $10. The Hand warmer can also be used also as a portable powerbank in case of emergency.

Will the 'Cameraman' app work with the rear mounted camera or only with the selfie camera? Because the selfie camera on most phones is vastly inferior to the rear camera on most, if not all, phones. And could someone PLEASE make an app that flips the video from a selfie camera to the proper direction? It is so annoying to have everything reversed. :)
The DJI Osmo is more expensive than the Cameraman, but, it is a lot faster with face tracking and has gyro stabilizing. Even if you're shooting a photo by hand, it will eliminate any shake or jitter.

I find myself leaving my phone in one part of the house while trying to get something in other parts of the house. I don't like carrying my phone around all day, but I no longer have a home phone. I have been looking for a gadget that will clip to my collar (or in my pocket) that I could answer my phone with walking back looking for my phone.
I don't understand why the GoDonut is even donut shaped? Does the hole in the middle provide any sort of benefit? Also it looks like it would cut off a decent portion of the screen if you had used it to watch a movie on a plane or something

It DOESN'T reverse the video. Unfortunately. That is a problem inherent in selfie cameras on phones.

The resolution is low because it uses the selfie camera, which has a much lower resolution than the rear facing camera on a smartphone.

If you pause the screen when focused on the app, you can see that you can switch cameras.
Camera settings has an option for reversed video yes/no for the front camera on every phone I've had. Check yours to just in case!
