13:30 She's cosplaying as She-Ra! It's an 80s space princess warrior so it's pretty popular among young girls!
Also this scene + Chili's denial is a callback to The Show because Chili mentioned that after a few squabbles, she said the first time she met Bandit is at a party in London. But Bandit actually remembered her from the caravan holiday!
It's sweet that he's able to recognize her face from a long shot Awww~

Fun fact, if you look closely at the cassette tape, you can see it has "Bad Medicine" written on it, which was made by the by Bon Jovi in 1988, and released as a single on September 12th. Bandit says that he was 10 years old in the episode, so, with all those things put together, tbe episode would probably take place in late 1988 or early 1989

Ah, this is such a memorable episode for my family. It's our 6 year old brother's favorite Bluey episode because it's about the 3 brother's when they were kids, and it reflects our own family of 3 brother's. He always begs me and our middle brother to watch this episode with him in our free time and then role play afterward with him calling me Radley and our middle brother Bandit. I find it cute, but our middle brother absolutely hates it and almost never participates because he just turned 15 and is going through heavy puberty, so he hates everything😂. His face everytime he's forced to watch this episode and play afterwards is this 😡. Ngl, this episode is what got me into Bluey.

@@baconatorrodriguez4651 I think possibly the reason why Chilli doesn't remember it is because 1. it was years ago and 2. the memory doesn't have as much impact on her as it did Bandit. From Bandit's perspective, it was like 'I was cursed but then this cute girl broke the curse and said see you later omg' but for Chilli she was like 'i found this boy's hat then left.'

I do think it was Chili.
The thing is that for Bandit it was a big moment. He'd spent days not being able to say his name. Only for this random girl in an outfit to show up and say his name.
For Chili it was a small moment. Just returning a dropped hat to a kid. She doesn't know there was anything more to it than that. She just went on with her day.

I bet you were surprised about the order of the Heeler Brothers.
Before this, many thought that Bandit was the eldest, Stripe was the middle child, and Rad was the youngest (because doesn't have as gray hairs as his brothers).
But it turns out that Rad is the eldest brother, Bandit is the middle child, and Stripe is the youngest.
And I still have a mental image of Bandit & Stripe being jealous of Rad because he still had a carefree life, has all of his fabulous hair, and muscles; while they have gray hairs & dad bods/beer bellies.

    • @zoesumra9152
      @zoesumra9152 2 месяца назад +2

And Rad and Bandit are quite close in age, whereas Stripe is a good few years younger. I wonder if that contributes to the dynamic. Rad won't now remember a world without Bandit in it, whereas Bandit might still remember being the family baby and might feel resentful of Stripe turning up to usurp that position.

If you remember back in the Mother’s Day episode when the girls put on that play, Bluey asks them how they met, to which Chilli answers “Well, there’s some dispute, but let’s just say at a party, in London.”
We also have to remember this is told from Bandit’s POV. So either it was Chilli and she just doesn’t remember because it wasn’t a very significant moment like it was to him, or it wasn’t her but he thinks it was because she and whoever it was look alike.

I was born halfway through the 80s and I was free-roaming before I ever started kindergarten, much to my mom's and grandparents' dismay. I was very much a wanderer, and I know I gave them heart attacks with how often I snuck off. Most of the time it was at this giant permanent flea market my grandad had a stall at on the weekends, and when bored I would go off and wander around to look at things (though even as a little kid I knew better than to touch) and just explore, though I always stayed within the bounds of the flea market.
The flea market is even still there now, it's called Trader's Village in Grand Prairie, TX. I remember when it still had a rodeo arena (torn down a long time ago to make room for more covered stalls) and I would sneak in through a hole in the fence to sit in the stands and watch the cowboys practice.

This is a really interesting episode, showing us some backstory for Bandit, Stripe, and Rad, all the way back in that far-off time known as the 80s. It may seem jarring that Bandit used to be a bully to Stripe, but if you remember in Squash, he hadn't completely grown out of teasing his little brother. Still, good on Rad for finding a way to teach Bandit a lesson by jinxing him so he couldn't talk. As Nana told him, it was a good opportunity for him to reflect on how he'd been acting, and to perhaps think better of how he treated his brother going forward. And even if Stripe decided not to un-jinx Bandit when he helped him, Bandit was still proud of him for standing up for himself.
And then there's the big reveal, and the big question: was the girl who unjinxed Bandit really Chilli? Chilli may not have any recollection of it, as was previously hinted in The Show, but Bandit's sure it was her. Of course, as Bandit says, it's up to us to decide if that's how it really happened or not. I'd certainly like to believe it was. =)

I’d been looking forward to your review of this episode!
Between this and “Double Babysitter”, I really like Rad, and I was glad to see more of him in a later episode.
I was a kid in the tail end of the ‘80’s: I’m a few years younger than Stripe. (But I’m American, not Australian.) I did appreciate some of the ‘80’s references in the flashbacks.
I never encountered “jinx” personally; I first heard of it from an episode of The Simpsons.
I kind of see the “fairy tale” element of the story as similar to Beauty and the Beast. Bandit is unkind, so he gets cursed, and the girl is the only one who can break the curse-but not before he learns to be kind and so deserves to have the curse broken.
I think it is Chilli, not just because “it fits”, but because the girl has the same fur pattern as Chilli-and even Chilli concedes that it MIGHT have been her, just that she has no memory of that happening. It makes sense, since it didn’t mean as much to her as it did to Bandit.
Thanks for doing this review and uploading it!
