Came here to say one of the most accurate things I’ve seen in Bluey is Bandit sleeping through almost everything while Chili wakes up from hardly nothing🤣
So insanely accurate. I once woke up bc my kid opened her eyes in the other room. She wasn't fussing, or playing or anything just laying there awake and waiting for me to come get her. I don't know how I knew she was up, I just knew.
I loved that especially because I used to do the same thing with my mom when I was that age. I'd just go to her room and stare because I didn't want to wake her up but I still needed something.
Explanation of the "shattered planets": Bingo comes from Earth, and the other one you see broken open is Venus, representing Bluey. They're "shattered" because the rock planets represent Chilli's eggs, and their kids came out of them. The reason Mercury, the first planet from the sun, is intact is because Chilli had a miscarriage prior to having Bluey. That's why Bluey is Venus (2nd child) and Bingo is Earth (3rd). It's also why the stuffed rabbit is represented by the moon; it's Earth's protector, always nearby to keep Earth safe. Chilli is the sun because she's the center of the family, and Bandit is Jupiter because he's a gas giant (and also another protector of the inner planets, AKA, kids).
Beautifully put, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t admit I laughed out loud at the description of Bandit as a gas giant (cuz… yknow, he’s big and he farts). 😂
There’s so much symbolism in this episode! Obviously you figured out that Chilli (the mom) is the sun, but then Bandit (the dad) is Jupiter, Bingo is Earth, and Bluey is Mars (you can see the Bluey’s cracked planet towards the beginning). Also the score that’s playing throughout the episode is Jupiter from the orchestral suite The Planets
This one always makes me sob because for me, my sun was my Dad and he passed away this year. And hearing the whole "I'll always be here for you even when you can't see me" 100% breaks me every time.
Same for me, but my grandfather. He was the closest thing to a dad I ever had, but passed when I was little. I know the struggle, but it does get better. Just takes time, healing, and someone to talk to.🫂
It’s funny how so many of the most poignant episodes of Bluey focus on Chilli. Sleepytime, Baby Race, Rain, Onesies… I could go on. Something about Melanie Zanetti’s wry warmth as Chilli is so comforting and relatable without ever being cloying or stereotypically “mommy.”
One of my favorite aspects of Chilli is how she struggles with her less noble impulses. Her envy in Babyrace, her impatience in Sticky Gecko and Unicorse. You can tell she’s hanging on to her chill by her fingernails, and I think that makes her both relatable and admirable.

I lost her once for a few days and finding her again is genuinely a core memory just for the sheer relief and comfort. I was maybe 11 when she was stolen, and I never saw her again. And it may seem silly, but I still feel that absence. Every once in a while I’ll still have a dream where I find her like that time when I was little. So yeah, this ep really hits close to home 😅

13:51 "Bluey" has a LOT of musical covers of classic composers, and this one is part of "Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity" from a multi-suite composition called "Hosts' Planets," where each planet in the Solar System gets a character, personality, and music to represent them. This musical piece, especially in this episode, brought me to tears.
The best thing about this series is that on its surface its a childrens show for kids. But it is also a show for the parent and guardians who are watching with their kids and soothing their adult's inner child as well. So it's nurturing and soothing at least 2 generations of kids.
Fun fact: the last song you heard is called Jupiter part of “The planets”, the 7 symphonies written by Gustav Holst. Jupiter is my favorite one out of the seven. It’s an absolutely gorgeous and emotional piece.
As a kid Mars was always my favourite. But now as an adult, Jupiter never fails to bring a tear to my eye. Coupled with the sweetness of this episode and being a parent, I was a wet eyed mess first time I saw this episode
If you rewatch it and listen for it, you can hear echoes of "Jupiter" throughout the entire episode. Sometimes it's just a few notes, or just lightly playing, but it's there.
Gustav Holsts Planets being used as major parts of the music in the episode is another part of Bluey that is so incredible. Jupiter, The Bringer Of Jollity representing the parents is so well done. It's such an emotional piece.
The music does so much heavy lifting in this episode: the sweet, triumphant crescendo as the sun comes up through the window, signify that Bingo has achieved her goal of sleeping through the night. It's such a simple thing, and in the years to come, she'll probably forget all about the first night she slept alone in her big-girl bed. But in this moment, she's triumphant--and she won't even know it until she wakes in the morning. The music celebrates one of the many small victories of childhood. It's also kind of neat that this piece is titled "Jupiter, Bringer of Jollity." In her visit to the planets, her father's represented by Jupiter, and Bandit does indeed bring a lot of jollity to his daughters' lives.
Matthew: "Bluey is scarily cute! I don't know how to handle it!" Me: "No Matthew. You've just gotten used to scarily unhinged things that anything remotely sweet and normal is now what your brain perceives as terrifying"
This episode was analyzed by a therapist. According to him, the things kids do to put off bedtime like asking for water, songs, monster checks or one more story are actually separation anxiety, since most young kids don't sleep in the same room as their parents and for most of human (dog?) history, children who were not near their parents as they slept would be in danger so they evolved to be warry of being alone the dark until a certain age. Bluey is probably not thirsty, she just wants her parents.
Bluey heals my mind. I have quite bad anxiety and this show helps with that a lot even if i am not the demographic for the show. The episodes are nice and short but so calming I love it so much.
I used to have REALLY bad anxiety and panic attacks, all the way from when I was a kid. I used to have anxiety attacks almost constantly, and panic attacks daily. It didn't help that I was badly abused as a kid, which certainly made things worse. But it turns out that at least part of my problem is that my electrolytes were completely out of whack. Try balancing your intake of calcium, sodium, potassium, and magnesium (especially the latter, since it's hard to get enough through food; I'd suggest supplementing it specifically, and focusing more on food for the rest). I haven't had a single panic attack since I started paying close attention to my electrolyte balance, and my anxiety has massively improved. Good luck.
"Is 'Bluey' going to make me cry?" Honestly, it depends on the episode. This show, though for children, definitely will make you feel plenty of things. It packs a lot of feelings into its brief episodes for anyone who happens to watch one. I'm glad you decided to watch an actual episode instead of just the out of context bits. The episodes are really well done. The show really is quite a piece of art in itself! I mean this episode uses music from various parts Holst's symphony "The Planets" in such an amazing way! Some kid when they're older will be in band/orchestra in school and hear it and be reminded of this show, which as a former band kid (flute, trumpet, tenor saxophone), I think that's pretty awesome!
This episode made me cry like a baby, especially the part where mom as the Sun says that she will always be for Bingo. I can't remember the last time a show had made me so emotional
I clicked the notification without reading the title and as soon as Mathew said Bluey my six year old brother's head snapped up faster than a snake strikes😂
Everyone told me to see Bluey and I kept saying 'my kids are teens, wtf would I want to watch toddler shows now??' Then my wife got hooked. 'no, seriously, watch an episode.' "That's absurd!" 'Watch an episode!!' ... dammit. I love this show. It's like a warm hug. It's helpful for kids and very helpful and encouraging for parents in all sorts of ways. And there's a lot of rather adult stuff that threads through the show. It manages to be a kids' show without being saccharine or simplistic.
so many amazing episodes of bluey. one of my personal favorites is The Creek. it's just so wholesome and calming it actually made me almost tear up towards the end.
Sleepytime is my absolute favorite episode. Reason being is because it was healing to my inner child. Sometimes night time could be a bit traumatic...and my parents weren't always the most loving or responsive. Not just at night either. But...seeing this was like giving my inner child a huge hug. 💖 I sobbed the first time I saw it
I'm a mother and my own mother has passed away. Just thinking about Chilli saying "I'll always be there for you, even when you can't see me," brings me to tears both as a mother and as a child.
This was the very first video of Bluey I ever watched and it was after I lost my mom to cancer. I started motherhood without her and this show helped me so much with my grieving and guiding us through parenthood.
this episode never fails to make me teary eyed, even while watching someone else (you) reacting to it, it seems 😂 too cute, too pure, too emotional, too good!
I watched this episode with my daughter and I bawled like a baby. My daughter toddled over and gave me a hug and kissed my knee. My whole family loves this show, even my parents like watching it with my daughter when we come to visit
I always full on sob whenever I watch this episode. I was always super close with my mom and she passed a few years ago, and this episode reminds me of the happiness she brought me, but also the pain of losing her
Transitional object. Bingo isn’t quite old enough to be without yet. So her toy rabbit is a transitional object. Bandit doesn’t wake because he is exhausted as this probably happens every night. Can be hard to sleep in the Brisbane heat, too. As a parent you develop a miraculous tolerance for being woken up by your kids. Partly because you’re always pleased to see them. Also because you know that if you get annoyed it will just be harder to get back to sleep again. The music is Jupiter by Holst. I saw qld symphony orchestra play it when I was a kid growing up in Brisbane. The episode called cricket is guaranteed to make adult cricketers cry (people who are notorious for being stoic).
I gave up hope that he would go beyond just the original out of context video for this series, but I'm so glad he's watching more. Next time, he should do an episode like "Baby Race", "Onesies", "Granddad" or "Army" to name a few.
YESS! I have some episode recs that you could watch next in the future the fandom lovess (and some personal favs of mine)- - baby race! It's about the mother, and her insecurities raising a baby Bluey. It's really sweet 😅 - army! It's about a young pup who the fandom believes to be neurodivergent (if you see the episode,it makes sense) -onesies! It's based on the mums sister, it's adorable :) -camping! Bluey befriends a French kid, also really sweet :) - dad baby, its a funny episode, gotta rewatch it -the show! Bluey and Bingo act out how their parents met, it's also adorable! does anyone have any other recs? I could use them as well 😅 *edit: thanks for the replies, now I have new episodes to watch, I hope Matt sees it 😅
Mini bluey is so sweet, the kids learning the celebrate their differences rather than being jealous of the other😊 Also ragdoll is such an underrated episode but it's one of my favs, Bandit trying to teach the kids about the value of hard work going hilariously wrong xD
Space. That episode really helps with showing trauma and anxiety around past situations and it really really really is one of my own favorite episodes.
i love hearing your thoughts as the episode plays because it shows how each person can interpret certain pieces of a show or book differently, but then come to the same conclusion as long as the creator provides enough context
I am always blown AWAY by the score for this episode. I have always loved Gustav Holst's Jupiter's theme (the melody played while Bingo is talking to the sun), but the way it is used during this episode always brings me to tears. Being familiar with it before seeing this episode, I always marvel how this episode gives it new meaning. The animation gives the music meaning, yet the music also gives the animation power. I wish Mathew had taken a moment to really take in the way the music and story worked together for a really powerful moment. For the most part, the characters didn't need to speak (of course, Chilly's words at the end is just the cherry on top) . The events of the episode spoke for themselves and the music carried the episode very beautifully.
This was the episode that made me fall in love with Bluey ❤️ not only is everything so beautifully done but this is so accurate to trying to sleep when you have kids lol getting kicked, slapped and playing musical beds 😂
This is a beautiful episode that cut my soul out, I have a daughter growing older each day and its such a gorgous episode. There are so many beautiful episodes focusing on bandit and bingo, which I feel reflect me and my daughter best, but this is just gorgous...... the writing, the use of music...wow
This was the very first bluey episode I ever saw. i was working in a special education room at an elementary school and they were having a bluey party where they watched a few episodes. This was the first one that came up so it was the first one i ever saw. I was legitimately crying by the end and the kids made fun of me. when the sun comes up and she's in her bed, it just gets to me. She did it. She woke up in her bed (granted she went on an adventure during the night but who cares). this one, camping, and the one with chili chasing after her dad to get him to rest are the only three that make me cry every single time i watch them. i'm also a huge fan of jupiter (the music). As a side note, they do actually have a picture book version of this episode on the bluey website. so you can get this as a bed time story lol
I like how the song 'Jupiter' from Gustav Holst's Planet Suite played during Bingo's dream. I remember that the first keyboard I got as a child had a mode that would teach songs with it's keys lighting up, and this was the first song I learnt.
Bluey is just that kind of show it just happens to be targeted to toddlers 😅 I’m a 33 year old woman with a family of my own and my excitement went through the roof when the new episodes came out on disney plus in Noevember, this show is like a parents dream or something I swear! 😂
14:18 Nothing could ever prepare me for this scene. I just burst out crying out of nowhere 😭😭 and then Chilli's words of affirming her love for her daughters had me again. This episode hit cause it's been a while since I called my mum (a week or two now). I think I'll call her later after my class is done.
I can’t get over how superbly accurate you were in your interpretation of the symbolism in this episode! You hit the nail on the head every time. Congratulations. And YES! You should watch more Bluey.
bluey is an amazing show I suggest watching other episodes if you are interested. I love the show it brings back so many memories from when I was a kid and playing make believe while also teaching and showing great messages and lessons that are important for adults and kids. It also can cover heavy topics in a great and respectful way that is understandable regardless of age
This is one of my favourite episodes of Bluey. So wholesome and full of symbolism, even when it seems like a simple story, there's so much there to pick out. My daughter loves Bluey, and it's one of the kid shows I'm happy for her to watch day after day haha
If me and my partner cant be like Bluey's parents i dont wanna do it lol. Their so sweet and patient, they give their kids so much space to be kids and learn at their own pace, while still giving them space to make mistakes and learn on their own. I dont know what they went through in life to have THAT much paitiance but their so loving with those kids, thats all i could hope to be with my kids. Hell, that level of chill is what i hope to be as a person.
Who's gonna break this man more and tell him there's symbolism about Chili having a miscarriage in the past in this episode, something the creator himself has confirmed
I enjoyed watching your reaction. I hope you find time every once and a while to watch Bluey content. Whenever you need that purification from too many traumatizing reactions. 🙂
I absolutely love this episode! So much symbolism! Bluey is ome of those shows that makes me cry a lot. So many episodes are emotional. But all of them are wholesome.
The whole underlying theme/topic of this episode is about Separation Anxiety. RUclips channel Mended Light (AKA one half of the Cinema Therapy pair) did an episode on this episode as well as a few others that are worth checking out: ruclips.net/video/Mh8YRm0ruJk/видео.htmlsi=icwumKponTyKYWHT In fact, a lot of Bluey episodes have interesting underlying messages and topics and handle its deeper meanings in absolutely beautiful ways. Nothing's ever forced but it does allow the show to be for parents and adults as much as the show is for kids in wholesome ways. Also, it was quite a genius way for the show to use the "Jupiter" movement of Gustav Holst's "The Planets" suite.
It’s probably one of the most beautiful representations of family, children and love I’ve seen and the use of Holst’s the planets (ending with Jupiter) is just chefs kiss. What an incredible episode of a show, regardless of what genre.
I believe that the music in the end of the episode is Homeward Bound, which is one of my favorite songs and I love that it swells and becomes the loudest when Bingo climbs back in bed and is home in a sense. It just adds to the impact do the episode for me. That is genuinely one of my fav episodes fs.
As a father myself lol, it wasn't that Bandit(Dad) wasn't waking up, it was that he was used to being abused physically as the strong male of the household. Bandit is often the punching bag for his children's happiness, which he takes this role with pride as he of course has other roles that far outshine it. But yes, it's not that he wasn't awake, it was just that he was used to it and was just trying to power through it like a strong yet loving father. It of course ended however like most things as a father.... Direct damage to the groin... 😅
Oh boy, watching someone watch this episode for the first time is going to make me cry. I sobbed happy sweet tears the first time I watched this, and then again when I had my parents watch it with us. My Dad used to play The Planets for us as kids and Jupiter was always my favorite.
I feel Chilli likes to remind the girls she’ll always be there for them because she lost her mum when she was younger and she wants her daughters to always remember that because of the loss she went through. Its kind of like a way to protect them from the worst.
There's so much to talk about this, but listen to Holts Planet Suit always makes me emotional, so having it be the back bone of this episode just brings everything together
You should react to My Thoughts On Bluey by TheOdd1sOut, he goes into detail about the symbolism of the Bluey episode Flat Pack among other things and it's amazing! He really nails why Bluey is so great
Thank you for reacting to Bluey! You're right, it is so incredibly wholesome. Definitely watch more episodes when you can even if you don't react to them, it's also a very funny and eye-opening series!
I’m gonna need you to react to all of the episodes of Bluey!! It should be mandatory for all Australian citizens at this point, it’s just too relatable both as a person and as an Aussie. The main ones I always recommend people to watch besides this are Onesies, Cricket, Baby Race and Army, and after that I’d recommend Turtleboy, Tradies, Hammerbarn, Double Babysitter, Piggyback, The Show, Flat Pack, Bin Night, and Handstand :)
Fun thing about the squinting, we often do it to avoid the light forcing our eyes to adjust. Our eyes go from dark to light quickly, but it takes a while for them to adjust back to dark. Try keeping one eye closed completely, then when you're back in the dark, open that eye.
Dude! You need yo react to more of bluey before the new years, honestly you deserve a break and neeed some wholesome times, these episodes were made to make you so god damn light by your hearts. Its making me so hapoy with tears 😭
Fun Fact: In the episode Sleepytime You can see that Bingo is Earth.*Third child* Bluey is Venus*Second child*. Chilli is the sun. and Bandit is Jupiter. Because he is a big gas giant. Jupiter is also a giant.
This episode makes me cry every time my son and I reach it. The first time I watched it was when he was only a few weeks old and I was grieving the loss of my mom who passed six weeks before he was born. When Chilli says, “I’ll always be here, even if you can’t see me,” it makes me cry because I so hope it’s true 💙
On the point of them having underwear in the house, even though they’re naked majority of the time, animated/cartoon characters have been doing that since, well forever! It’s all over the place and all throughout the history of animation, something that’s not worth questioning because we’ll never get an answer🤷♂️😂
The dream was a mix of the two stories her mom read (the first being the chick hatching from the egg & the second about all the planets) & her real life. Plus, a whooooole bunch of other things which others have mentioned already. 💙
An awesome touch in this episode is the use of Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” suite (specifically “Jupiter, Bringer of Jollity”) at various moments throughout it.
🥲

According to him, the things kids do to put off bedtime like asking for water, songs, monster checks or one more story are actually separation anxiety, since most young kids don't sleep in the same room as their parents and for most of human (dog?) history, children who were not near their parents as they slept would be in danger so they evolved to be warry of being alone the dark until a certain age. Bluey is probably not thirsty, she just wants her parents.
I'm glad he's watching this, it's a break from the other more concerning stuff he watches
Good luck.
@@Lycanthromancer1 Thank you for this. I will definitely try this. I hope you are ok and again thank you for telling me. Have a good new years
"Is 'Bluey' going to make me cry?" Honestly, it depends on the episode.
I absolutely love the use of Holst in this episode. There is so much great classically inspired music throughout the whole show.
As a parent. I can tell 100% confirm you just sleep through the kicking but the weird parent sixth sense will wake you up out of a sleep.
I literally start crying at the credits of this episode every single time, even while Matthew was reacting to it. I don’t know why it makes me cry😭
Everyone told me to see Bluey and I kept saying 'my kids are teens, wtf would I want to watch toddler shows now??'
Then my wife got hooked. 'no, seriously, watch an episode.'
"That's absurd!"
'Watch an episode!!'
...
Man this episode hits even harder after dragon. Really contextualizes chilis words and makes it so much sadder
I started motherhood without her and this show helped me so much with my grieving and guiding us through parenthood.
this episode never fails to make me teary eyed, even while watching someone else (you) reacting to it, it seems 😂
too cute, too pure, too emotional, too good!
I watched this episode with my daughter and I bawled like a baby. My daughter toddled over and gave me a hug and kissed my knee. My whole family loves this show, even my parents like watching it with my daughter when we come to visit
I always full on sob whenever I watch this episode. I was always super close with my mom and she passed a few years ago, and this episode reminds me of the happiness she brought me, but also the pain of losing her
1% of the video: him reacting to it
99% of the video: him pausing the video saying random things every second for 1 hour
YESS! I have some episode recs that you could watch next in the future the fandom lovess (and some personal favs of mine)-
- baby race! It's about the mother, and her insecurities raising a baby Bluey. It's really sweet 😅
- army! It's about a young pup who the fandom believes to be neurodivergent (if you see the episode,it makes sense)
-onesies! It's based on the mums sister, it's adorable :)
-camping! Bluey befriends a French kid, also really sweet :)
- dad baby, its a funny episode, gotta rewatch it
-the show! Bluey and Bingo act out how their parents met, it's also adorable!
does anyone have any other recs? I could use them as well 😅
*edit: thanks for the replies, now I have new episodes to watch, I hope Matt sees it 😅
I think I love Bluey a bit 😅 it's just so cutee🥺
I'd like to add Smoochy Kiss, it has a really important message that you legit never see in... Basically any show. Also it's hilarious.
Mini bluey is so sweet, the kids learning the celebrate their differences rather than being jealous of the other😊
Also ragdoll is such an underrated episode but it's one of my favs, Bandit trying to teach the kids about the value of hard work going hilariously wrong xD
Space. That episode really helps with showing trauma and anxiety around past situations and it really really really is one of my own favorite episodes.
Flatpack! It's the episode where Bluey and Bingo play mom and daughter :)
i love hearing your thoughts as the episode plays because it shows how each person can interpret certain pieces of a show or book differently, but then come to the same conclusion as long as the creator provides enough context
I can't listen to this track without fighting the tears. Every time.
This show so often leaves me in tears and laughter. It's a Beautiful show and episode
Chilli and Bandit are the parents I've always wanted
But never got * que my mother comparing me to my friends *
Please watch more Bluey! You deserve it after all the horrifying things we made you watch
Theres even a bluey episode that covers evolution, life, death and the afterlife. Its crazy
Bluey is great
Have seen many episodes but it so cute
Aslo the parents names are chili(mom) and bandit(dad)
Wait till you watch "The Sign". What an emotional gut punch.
Who's gonna break this man more and tell him there's symbolism about Chili having a miscarriage in the past in this episode, something the creator himself has confirmed
That's not appropriate to put in a kids show
@@dragongateau9344 Do you think for a second any child understood the implications
@@Konpeimimi it doesn't matter if children don't understand, that is not something you should put in a kids show
@@dragongateau9344 The kids are not impacted at all and it's nothing inappropriate, so explain yourself

I enjoyed watching your reaction. I hope you find time every once and a while to watch Bluey content. Whenever you need that purification from too many traumatizing reactions. 🙂
Chilli saying "even if can't see me" makes me cry, because it's the same thing Littlefoot's mum said as she died.
This is the first episode of Bluey I ever saw and it makes me tear up every single time, so you're in good company 😭
I ALWAYS cry during this episode, Bluey is freaking BRILLIANT and heals my inner child so much. 😭😭
sobbing to bluey is an everytime occurrence
I absolutely love this episode! So much symbolism!
Bluey is ome of those shows that makes me cry a lot. So many episodes are emotional. But all of them are wholesome.
The whole underlying theme/topic of this episode is about Separation Anxiety. RUclips channel Mended Light (AKA one half of the Cinema Therapy pair) did an episode on this episode as well as a few others that are worth checking out: ruclips.net/video/Mh8YRm0ruJk/видео.htmlsi=icwumKponTyKYWHT
In fact, a lot of Bluey episodes have interesting underlying messages and topics and handle its deeper meanings in absolutely beautiful ways.
Sleepy time always makes me cry!!!
The soundtrack for this episode is just nothing but Gustav Holst’s The Planets. I recognize a lot of the movements!
Fun fact, the music in the background is called Jupiter, from Holst’s suite, The Planets
I feel Chilli likes to remind the girls she’ll always be there for them because she lost her mum when she was younger and she wants her daughters to always remember that because of the loss she went through. Its kind of like a way to protect them from the worst.
5:03 She's just standing there... MENACINGLY!!!
Im convinced dads can sleep through the end of the world
Vote here that Matthew should react to baby race
This show makes my toddler emotional. She comes and hugs me.❤❤ It’s our fav episode. It makes me cry.🥰😭🥰
He really nails why Bluey is so great
This! That's what I said!
This episode made me cry the first time I watched it 🥹 ITS SO SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ✨💖✨
Who else has been a true fan of Mathew for a long time?
As a mom of 3 young kids, this episode wrecks me 😢😭
Thanks for reacting to it !
Me: waits for the day when Mathew watches Death Note songs
Mathew: Watches Bluey
I think one of my favourite things is the low-key renditions of Holst's The Planets.
I believe Bluey orchestral music may be performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra! Big guns for a kids’ show.
Lying about your moms death is not funny, reported for lying.
@@bennyhardson4338 my guy, why do you think I would lie about that? She died of brain cancer on October 18th 2022.
On the point of them having underwear in the house, even though they’re naked majority of the time, animated/cartoon characters have been doing that since, well forever!
It’s all over the place and all throughout the history of animation, something that’s not worth questioning because we’ll never get an answer🤷♂️😂
"im gonna be so happy after this video!"
hahahahaha.
