I find it great that Bandit is represented as Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity. Both Bluey and Bingo see their dad as a source of joy. And we see the caring and joyful nature Bandit gives to her girls in every episode
When Chilli says she loves Bingo in her dream, ugh.. That moment is just so strong for me, it squeezes my heart so hard. This episode is a masterpiece, I can't love it enough.
I'm a big girl now. It was one of the first I watched, as a father if two at similar ages... I was addicted. Sleepy time is the BEST episode... the score and those words by Chili chokes me up everytime.
I lost my mom 12 years ago and I miss her every day. When Chilli says "Remember, I'll always be here for you, even if you can't see me, because I love you" it's like a shot to my soul to remind me that she may not be physically here she is still always with me. Thanks Mom for for always being with me. Love you.
I’m in a similar situation, I haven’t seen my mother in over 11 years, and it’s not even that she is dead, but I don’t know what happening with her or what she is doing, and I have this anxiety in the back of my mind, but still sleepytime is a message that I will always love cause of what chili says at the end, it just touches my, and thousands of other souls by those few words
I like the fact that she got her rabbit back, because it shows while she's too big to sleep in their bed, she shouldn't go too fast and stress herself out
Wow. That’s literally what I’ve been going through as an almost 18 year old. I still cuddle two little plushies, yet sadly I’m not attached to them anymore 💖
Those rabbits are real stuffed toys you know? They're sold under the brand 'Jellycat' here in Australia. They were pretty expensive before Bluey came along. Now they're monumental. My girl has two Floppies, a Pink one and a Purple one. She's 4 and she doesn't go to bed without them. Oh and a stuffed emu she named Bobby. Which is hilarious because an "Emu Bob" is a standard search practice in Australia where you stagger people every few metres and walk in a line and bob down to look for something. Usually it's pilots or aircraft maintenance engineers doing this to a flight line to gather FOD.
@@Unknown-sz9drwhat do you mean “wuss”? Sleepy time *IS* one of the best episodes, not just of bluey, but of any show. It’s emotions and animations, and it’s meaning will make many people emotional. Literal TEENAGERS and ADULTS watch this, calling them a wuss is just dumb, just because you either don’t like the episode, your not emotional, or anything else, doesn’t mean you get to take it out on others. Argue all you want, this episode will make people emotional and there is nothing you can do about it. Get over it, grow up, and watch that episode, I don’t care if you dint find it emotional, and I don’t care if this was a joke, if it was, *make it seem like a joke* 💀
as someone with massive parental issues this show has become my new comfort show, and god sleepytime made me cry my guts out, especially as someone who lost their daughter too.. long story. I just felt so many emotions, in so many ways, and god this was one of the most beautiful, if not the best fucking thing I've ever watched, ever. I remember finishing the episode and just crying so hard thinking "this deserves to be in a theatre" cus FUCK that was so amazing
Millennials who never had friends getting confort in my little pony in the early 10's 🤝 zoomers who never had a healthy family getting confort in bluey in the early 20's
@@matheussanthiago9685 Why not both? I have seen Bluey fan's from Gen Alpha to Silent Gen and everything in-between including Boomers and Gen X. Millennials like me also love this show. And Gen Z still likes ponies.
As far as I'm concerned Bandit is dad goals incarnate for any dad that cares about their kids. Its so awesome to see a portrayal of a father in popular media who's not an incompetent abusive shlub.
12:13 I don't take that moment of Chilli alone in bed as "arms out welcoming Bingo just in case". I take it as a moment aimed at parents: Chilli has the big bed to herself and is enjoying the space, alone. Many parents would see themselves in that moment.
Agreed, it's Chilli, the loving attentive mother who does so much for her family, relishing the joy of having the entire bed to herself for a night. She is secure in knowing everyone else is happy and comfortable wherever they are (even on the floor), and she can truly relax and enjoy her sleep.
@@WillyB24 Lol, had the same for myself when ill in the past. I made myself a pillow/ sofa fort and lurked in the living room to give my partner at the time some space. Sleeping with a coughing and sneezing person sucks lol
When I gave this episode a watch, when Chilli said that stuff about always being there 'because I love you', I just burst into tears. I just never had anyone say that to me with that kind of warmth, kindness, and sincerity. It was like I had been in that cold part of space my whole life and then I got a glimpse of the sun I never got to have, and never will have. It just hurt so much, but it was so comforting too. Bluey is such a wonderful series. It's given me a glimpse to a childhood that I never really got to have, but its kind and comforting, just so sweet.
Bluey has become a major comfort show despite me being 19. I lost my mom in June of 2022, only 2 weeks after my high school graduation. I’ve been having a hard time with accepting that she isn’t here anymore. My grieving process has been a little weird. So watching bluey and seeing chili being a cool mom brought me a lot of comfort. I was very similar to Bingo as a child but with a little more separation anxiety. I always wanted my parents to be around me but eventually grew out of it. But anyways, i saw Sleepytime a few weeks ago. I was going through some stuff so i of course watched Bluey to comfort myself. And i remember hearing Chili tell Bingo “remember i’m always here for you, even if you can’t see me” and immediately started crying. It was something i seriously needed to hear, i know my moms always gonna be here for me. Even when shes not here. I love this episode so much and i very much agree that it’s the best episode from Bluey💕
🥹 😭 I really love when things, words fit right in like that. I have a line from an episode of a show that really helps me in a lot of scenarios... A sad, but then beautiful story
I was raped by 100 gang members. When I Junko Furuta turned down a boy who liked me I doomed myself to a life of pain and abuse. One day I was walking home from school, 4 men kidnapped me. They quickly took me to their personal torture chamber and subjected me to repeated rapes and torture. Even more disturbingly, they made my family aware of my situation leaving them terrified that they would be killed if I tried to escape. As the days stretched on, the men forced me to eat maggots and drink my own urine. Sometimes they would set live firecrackers inside of me. However, despite the things that were happening to me I never gave up hope. One day as they were torturing me for the umpteenth time, I manage to slip away and make my way to the police station. But sadly as soon they discovered me, they took me back and inflicted even more damage upon me. In the end, my injuries cost me my life. My body was discovered in a concrete drum years later.
Even though I'm just a teenager, this episode makes me cry every time I watch it, I think the metaphors and the music of the episode are what makes it very special and one of the best episodes I've ever seen (even in IMDb it's the 8th most rated episode in a TV show)
And it was tied for #1 with Breaking Bad’s Ozymandias episode, until a bunch of (alleged) AoT fans bomb reviewed it :( so let’s just say that by heart, this episode is tied at 1st lol
I just love how bluey accidentally covers her dad with the blanket Its both heartwarming and hillarious but its mostly heart warming because bluey got her dad to be warm
There is a beautiful hardcover book of this episode. The gut punch moment of Chili, as the sun, saying "I'll always love you" is an enormous fold out and still makes me cry every time I read it. My kids request this book just to see me cry now.
I tear up (okay I basically lose it) at basically every single episode of Bluey. This show is absolutely wild. I get frustrated because sometimes I don't even understand why I'm crying at first. It's such a thoughtful show. These parents, especially Bandit, are exactly the role models for what kind of parents I want to be for my girl as she gets older.
The title doesn't lie. At some point, Sleepytime actually reached #2 with 10/10 stars on IMDb, actually being one of the best episodes in television alongside Breaking Bad's Ozymandias which is #1. It's a shame it hasn't reclaimed its deserved 10/10 yet because now, it had dropped to 9.9 due to AoT fans review-bombing it.
Wanna get a party to review raise Sleepytime back at 10/10? Not attacking AoT because I know it is a good show but that was fowl play on the crappy fans (not all fans), as I can tell it is SO good that the big boys were embarrassed that a children's show can go up there with the big ones.
@@cutepuddleslime8201 I can now imagine what they thought when they saw the episode up the list: "How tf did an episode from a children's cartoon get a 10/10?!" Apparently AoT fans are also infamous for review-bombing any media they are against, which is just immature. And yeah, I want it back to 10/10, but dunno if we could manage to get enough people for it.
I had a look at IMDB and there is 5000 10/10s and 300 1/1 so 300 weebs review bombed it so we’d need at least that many people to review “upbomb”? It the other way
I wasn't...emotionally ready for this episode when I watched it with my daughter. I had written the show off as harmless entertainment, but this one caught my attention - especially since my own daughter sometimes whines in her sleep or has nightmares that result in crying fits. Seeing Chili comfort Bingo without a second thought, and having that love & care find its way into Bingo's dream - followed with the swell of Holst's "Jupiter - resulted in the rare case of earnest, spontaneous tears. I love this show, and the fact that it got made at all is a blessing, to parents and kids alike 💙
Using one of my favorite pieces of music was an instant win, and the episode is gorgeous and heartfelt. What really sets Bluey apart, I think, is how realistic (though exaggerated) the kids’ games are. That’s just really how real little kids act.
Agreed. It's why I love shows like Bluey or Craig of the Creek. The kids over-exaggerate a ton while playing, but it's super realistic because looking back, that's definitely how I was as a kid too
Bluey works so well because the kids are relatable to the target demographic, and the parents are relatable to the audience's parents. It manages to tell solid lessons without talking down to anyone.
That's what I love the most about the show, it doesn't talk down and the lessons are not those that are typically taught in kids TV. And they're lessons that parents aren't taught either, and they absolutely should.
My favorite episode is "Grandad" as a father of a rapidly growing five year old (she actually turned five today) the last lines gets me every time! Chili: "that was a long time ago" Grandad: "Naw, it was just yesterday" Maynard is also great comic relief!
That was a really nice essay! I think sleepy time is one of the top emotional episodes of Bluey, along with daddy drop-off and camping. What really gets me in this episode, tough, is how much her mum's love, and she herself, mean o Bingo; Chili is literally her sun. I don't think I've seen quite this brand of care and parental love in pretty much any show.
Thanks! Daddy drop off is great too, especially with how much something little like Wind-Up Bingo can life like her friend. I actually used that picture scene from that episode in this video.
I lost my mom on this last Christmas Day. I was wanting something to watch in the background while writing and decided to put on an hour of Bluey. Safe to say my attention was mainly on the show, but the moment Sleepytime came on I broke down. Chili's words at the end of the episode just struck me straight through my heart. I miss my momma so much it hurts, but this epidose gave me just the tiniest bit of comfort, knowing that no matter where she is now, she's watching over me.
I also think Floppy and Bingo are symbolic of parent and child. - Floppy "hatches from the egg" and the first thing she sees is Bingo, just like the chick and mother chicken. - Floppy wants to leave Bingo's side and join the other rabbits, mirroring when your child grows up and leaves the nest. Bingo lets her go but is upset to see her go. - Floppy still comes back to help Bingo when she needs it while getting back into the shell because (in healthy circumstances) you never really age out of family. After you "let your kids go" they've not truly left you. It's a funky parrallel while Bingo herself is obviously the baby growing up, but it might just go to show that you never really stop growing up, and even when you reach adulthood and have kids of your own, there are still times where you have to be "a big girl". 💜
I teared up when Bingo says how she's a big girl now and how she gets the response from Chili of how she'll always be there for her, even if she cant see her. Just a great way of saying how Bingo is growing up and even if her mother isn't, physically, there anymore she will always be by her side whenever she is needed. 😢 Her love for her kids is so so strong.
39 year old dad here. Sleepytime absolutely destroyed me first time I watched it and this analysis really helped me understand it so much more and shows how many little things missed. Brilliant video. Subscribed. Thank you.
when my wife started watching this with our toddler, i had no idea how amazing this show would be. It's like stumbling upon gold and not realizing it until you're deep into it.
It's been a while since I saw this episode, re watching all the clips I definitely teared up again too. idk if this is something other people relate too, but something so nice to me in Bluey is how much Bandit and Chili love each other. They are best friends, a strong team, and wonderful parents. I wish I had that growing up. Watching them makes me feel happy that good relationships are out there. And they are top notch role models of what a healthy relationship , and good parenting, is supposed to be.
I have an abusive mother and a difficult home life and all the other bluey episodes have been so nice and have made me so happy, but this episode in particular is my favorite, and the moment with Chilli as the sun protecting bingo and keeping her warm had me in tears. Chilli is the mother I’ve never had and I love her and this show so much
I'm in a similar boat, my mother's love is closer to a brown dwarf than it is the Sun. It pulls on my heart in a million directions to see a little girl able to bask in her mother's unconditional love and comfort.
I agree wholeheartedly. Sleepytime is my favorite episode, of the show, and honestly, one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The very end where all the characters are shown sleeping peacefully brings me to tears everytime, and that's highly unusual for me.
I cried because the line "I'll always be here for you, even if you can't see me, because I love you" made me think of my own mother's love and how I know she'll always be here for me because she loves me and I love her too❤️
I heard this episode before I saw it. I walked out of my home office and my ears immediately perked up. I used to play in symphonies and this was the greatest piece of music I ever played. I couldn't believe it was coming from this show. I knew it was a great show but this episode was art. I couldn't stop taking about the music and what it meant to me. How beautiful it was, how complicated it was, what it was like to learn it and play it on the most beautiful music hall I had ever performed in. I played it for my 3 kids. My sons just sat there and listened completely still and my daughter danced around to it. It was a great family moment.
Thank you for this. I've got a seven year old daughter so Bluey speaks to me on many levels, and this video was a well-delivered celebration of one of my favourite episodes. While I was watching, something occurred to me for the first time despite having seen Sleepytime on a number of occasions: the space narrative is working on two levels. Floppy is the moon, which revolves around earth in the same way that earth revolves around the sun - so the mother / daughter relationship is being mirrored. This is made even clearer when Floppy first hatches out of the moon, and the first thing she sees in Bingo; just like the chick hatching out of her egg in the story at the start. So in Bingo's dream, she's both the daughter - stepping out to do her own thing, but learning that Bingo will always be there when she needs her - and the mother, watching Floppy move on and make her own friends and family, but learning that she won't be gone forever (represented when Floppy and the others come back to help Bingo at the end). My god, what a fantastic piece of storytelling.
8:48 when Bingo is "W" sitting, eyes closed, taking in the overwhelming warmth/love of the sun/her mum just breaks me into a sniveling mess. I love watching this episode with my 2 year old daughter.
It doesn’t matter what mood I’m in, this episode always makes me cry and puts me at peace. It’s my favorite episode of Bluey, and probably my favorite episode of all of TV. 8:32 And there it is, the tears. Just that part of the music gets to me everytime. Also you mentioning how Bingo is more mature than Bluey, despite being younger, is an extremely relatable thing for me. Being the younger sister, I never went against orders (at least not intentionally), while my brother would just sometimes completely ignore doing stuff he was told to do.
I am adult, and every time I watch this specific episode it just brings me to tears because it's that beautiful. The music accompaning the scenes, the symbolisms and line deliveries... truly a masterwork.
Jupiter-the Bringer of Jollity was already my favorite piece ever composed before I had even heard of Bluey. And it compliments the story in all the best ways. forever solidifying this as the greatest episode in Bluey and like you said, "One of the Best Episodes of Television Ever Made." I love Bluey.
I couldn't stop crying watching this episode. I have 2 daughters, a bluey and a bingo. Same age difference too. Their mom is the best. Best family show.
This was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, beautiful show, and beautiful script, not to mention your voice goes pretty well with this episode
When chilli's voice says 'I'll always be here for you" it makes me weep. I hope my daughter always knows her mummy will be there for her whenever she needs
My favorite episode has to be "Baby race". It's awesome how Chili gets the support and a "You're doing just fine" by a fellow parent, but especially the ending brings me to tears every time. Just the knowledge that there's a love out there that's as pure as the one between a parent, but especially a mother figure and their child will always get me.
This!!! I feel 100% the same way about this episode. My kiddos got me into Bluey and made me watch every episode, and I believe this is not only the best kid's show on TV now, and it's not even close on that one, but arguably the best show, period. I have repeatedly told my wife and kids that this one is my favorite episode. Heck, I had a hard time not tearing up just watching your essay on it!
This episode makes me tear up everytime. The part where Chilli tells Bingo she's always love even if she can't see her makes me think of my mom who sadly passed away. It's comforting.
I want to show Sleepytime to as many of my friends as possible because it seems everyone has their own reaction to when Chilli speaks as the Sun. My little sister cries & said "I miss Eli" (our brother who died at age 26) It makes me cry because I am reminded of my dog who died from old age, then of The Land Before Time because it's almost the exact same words Littlefoot's mother says to him before she dies. It makes my boyfriend cry because he loves his mommy, but has attachment issues. Bluey is important and special.
"Rain" is my favorite as it speaks to a very specific feeling of childhood for me. Also the way that once the rain starts at the beginning of the episode, no words are heard. Even the title card isn't read aloud. The parallels to Bluey trying to block the endless stream and Chili doing the same while trying to stop the endless persistence of Bluey trying to find some way to dam up the water no matter what her mom says about the mess and Chili ultimately giving in and realizing, it's okay to just go get soaked and have fun again. IDK, I just love it. Similar reason why I loved "Sleepytime" as well. Great video and great thoughts. Really enjoyed it!
This episode and The Weekend make me so emotional. I dont know if it's the disappointment that Bingo feels that Bandit didn't see the walking leaf, or the wonder of the big itself... but it makes me tear up every single time I watch it.
I have the Bluey Vinyl (naturally, lol) and whenever The Weekend track comes on you hear Bingo call out whispering to Bandit - it's so adorable and soft spoken. I always forget he misses it though
I love The Weekend so much. Bingo and the walking leaf is one of my favorite scenes of the entire series. And the part at the end where Bingo tells Bandit that he didn't come see the walking leaf make me tear up a little, too. But I loooove in that scene when Bluey tries to help Bingo feel better by showing her her doll and pointing out her "sushi shoes".
I like how you explained this episode. It provides a fresh new perspective on stuff like foreshadowing, which doesn't get talked about in other channels. This is also pretty great for your first video essay! :0
Great summery, great episode. I also have a daughter in the age range, and I think because of that GrandDad just barely goes beats our Sleepytime for my favorite. Thank you!
For me, the scene that broke me was Bingo saying goodbye to Floppy. Even though they are not real, our stuffed animals were our best friends growing up and there comes a time where we have to say goodbye, but we always wonder what will happen to them, and if they're next owner will take care of them and love them like we did. I am not gonna lie, I absolutely ugly cried when that scene popped up.
When my little brother started watching this show (He's seven), I got curious and started watching with him. Now I can't stop watching and I look forward to watching it with him whenever it gets put on. The show really is heartwarming and it reminds me what it was like being a kid.
My little cousin loves this show. I was never interested it until he turned it on. I fell in love with the show and this episode literally made me cry. It made me think about my mother and father and everything they've done for me. Bluey is one of the most beautiful children's show I've ever seen. It doesn't dull down to the level of other children's shows and I appreciate that.
man this episode really hits me in the feels, I watch Bluey with my niece all the time because it's one of her favorite shows and when this comes on, I can't help but get a little choked up
Both my husband I have lost a parent, so the end of the episode where Chili says "even if you can't see me" hits us both so hard in the feels, no matter how many times we watch it. We can't watch Coco without tears either, tbh.
This became one of my favorite Bluey episodes on 1st experience simply for including Holst. I was getting ready to go into town & as I went to say bye to my brothers I caught the closing moments where it shows each setting in the house. I remember pausing to point out to their mum that Jupiter was playing, then giving a brief explanation on what I was on about. I was a couple minutes late for what I was going to, which usually I'd hate, but because I had this stress reliever playing in my head I didn't mind for once. Watched it all the way through almost as soon as I got home & was in tears from how beautifully the episode is by several aspects. Now I'll always have both a comfort show & comfort song in one place if I ever feel overwhelmed.
Bluey has been an emotional comfort show for me, in all the best ways. Growing up my family wasn't a proper one, I was forced to grow up fast and be the parent to my own parents. It's honestly to the point where I'm terrified of having my own children because of my own trauma and I don't want my family trying to be near them This show has helped me live vicariously through Bluey and Bingo, imaging both having chili and bandit as parents but also seeing myself as parenting my possible child like they do Sleepytime honestly still breaks me, it's so amazing. Just the feeling of being loved and safe even when you going through something painful(saying goodbye to fluffy) knowing you have still have that warmth "no matter what I'll always be there" is so heartlifting. It made me really think, this is how I want my kids to feel if I ever do have them
Sleepy time is one of my favorite episodes I adore. The music pulls every subject together and threads it. The background music comes from a orchestral suite which I have played in my high school band. The movement of "Jupiter" is so magical and powerful sounds blends this episode with the suite. The powerful character theme with Chile is greatly powerful. These types of videos make me understand and comprehend the meaning behind these episodes.
This video made me cry. I get misty everytime this episode is over, and I love watching my daughter who can't quite talk yet smile at bingo on a comet shooting towards the sun. I'll never understand people who don't love this episode.
Sleepytime is one of my favourite episodes and makes me tear up on every watch. The Sign (28 minute episode) makes me cry at the end too. The Sign brings me back to my childhood and how much we had to move, due to my dad being in the RAF. Emotions and feelings that I didn’t know existed, come flooding out on every watch. Cricket is the other episode that I love. It shows how resilient and adaptable you have to be when playing sport. Rusty, who’s clearly a very talented batter, has to overcome several things to continue to develop his batting. At the end he shows his humility and compassion by hitting his sister a catch, which makes her day. Then there’s every kid’s (that loves cricket), walking off the pitch to a stadium wide round of applause.
The symbolism in this episode is amazing. The solar system represents various aspects of the family, as well as things going on irl. Bingo hatches from earth, third planet from the sun. When we see the already hatched egg planet, we cut to bluey. Then we see mercury at the end, 1st planet. Closest to the sun. Unhatched. That’s brilliant to me because it’s so subtle. If you don’t pay attention (like me..) you probably won’t catch that this is likely in reference to a miscarriage Chilli had before bluey. Which the kids know about. Everyone being a planet is so cool to me. Chilli being the center piece is too good. Without the sun, we wouldn’t be here at all. We need it’s warmth and light. Bingo would not have existed without her mother, and she needs Chilli in her life currently, and always will. this might just be my interpretation, but i’d like to note on now the sun is a star. Stars burn out eventually. The sun supports all the planets in our solar system. We don’t know how things will be so far into the future. But if the sun were to burn out now, we’d all die. We’re lost without it. We don’t know how Bingo might feel in the future (we have an idea, i mean chilli is awesome). But we know that if she lost her mother right now, she’d be lost. It would be really really hard on her. I love this episode i love space aesthetics i love the symbolism it’s so good. And the untouched glass of water on the side table is great.
the reason the ending scene is so emotional could also be because we all know this experience of growing up. everytime i look back at my childhood or am reminded of being a child and having to grow up it makes me emotional. it’s because i remember this all is still right here. we grow up but we never really leave our childhood experiences, memories and feelings behind.
Well done sir. I can't help but tear up even just hearing the music while my 3 kiddos watch in the back seat of the mini van. This show captures something about life, childhood and parenthood that far more sophisticated and funded shows just don't always grab the fullness of. Thanks for sharing your perspective and the time and effort you put into articulating what it is about a show about a cartoon dog family that strikes so deeply into what it means to be human, family and to love.
I know I am a long time late BUT... The episodes "barbeque"(BBQ) and "take away" are the ones that got me hooked (42m). They are exactly how I grow up. BBQ's were always like that and getting "Chinese" was the same especially the spring rolls and more importantly the chair drag. It was amazing. Also to let you know the voice of Bandit was the frobtman of one of my favourite bands Custard (Aussie band)
When i watched the episode i couldnt help but cry. Some years ago i lost my grandma who was my best friend. And as someone who has livid dreams, it felt so personal. I dont care if its colorful dogs. "Remember ill always be here for you even if you cant see me, i love you" it felt like a big reminder that she is always with me even if i cant see her anymore, that im not alone even if it seems like it. I felt represented by Bingo so so much.
Nice analysis. This episode of Bluey is wonderfully beautiful. I did cry the first time watching it. Chili comforting Bingo in her sleep resonated so deeply for me as a parent, always wanting to protect and care for my children. Season 2 - Sticky Gecko is definitely a favorite of mine. We are forever running late to get out the door and it's just spot on to the madness of dealing with kids.
I'm so glad you talked about Holst. It's one of my favorite pieces of music and always brings tears to my eyes. I'm so thankful forJoff Bush's brilliance to use Holts' Jupiter (asl angry for the double hard cry). And how well he re-imagined it as background music. It's an incredibly emotional piece of music to a heartbreaking and heartwarming episode. It couldn't have been done better. Every aspect of this episode is perfection.
Honestly I feel another episode that often gets overlooked is Rain, the lack of dialogue doesn’t hamper the storytelling, and the ambiance…. It just throws me to my late spring/ early summers as a kid when it used to downpour… Sleepytime is def my #1 but honestly the brilliance of rain is understated… I hope that you can cover more Bluey episodes in this style, and your interpretation as both a father and someone who understands storytelling. I would love to see it
You did a beautiful job with this essay. The work was absolutely worth it in my eyes. Your narration made me cry a little bit due to the whole setting you set up. So thank you again for the video, I'll go to sleep myself now. Cheers Edit: You have a great voice for this aswell.
My favorite episode is rain! I wonder why no one talks about it, but it spoke to me. All the visual elements, the music, the way bluey doesn't give up on what seems like a stupid pastime, and chilli supporting bluey after seeing her work so hard. It's got so many more elements to it that makes it my favorite, but this will do enough for now. My second favorite is sleepytime, and then space.
This was the first bluey episode I ever saw. I was babysitting at the time and when I heard Holst’s Jupiter I was totally caught off guard, since I had just played that piece in my high school band. It was such a crazy feeling to see this kid’s show emphasize such a moving orchestral piece, especially one that I was so familiar with :)
This is also my favorite episode of Bluey. I have two daughters. For my part, it's the way the music is so prominent throughout the episode that tugs at my heartstrings. You did the episode justice - nice work.
Such a wonderful video! I couldn't agree more about this episode either. I lost my mom when I was 15 and the last scene where Chili says "I will always be there for you; even if you can't see me," it gets me every single time- especially since I used to be in orchestra and play violin and "Jupiter", the song in this scene, was one of the last pieces I ever got to play for my mom. Bluey is a marvelous show for everyone and it brings me so much joy
There are so many beautiful episodes in this show that include famous orchestral scores, either in their original setting like this, or in adapted versions. There are a million reasons I’m looking forward to showing my future kids this show, but as an opera singer, having such a great segue into introducing classical music to them is something I know I’m gonna be grateful for.
Everytime I watch this episode, I end up making new connections. I love it. :-) Also, yeah, Bandit is probably the best dad I've ever seen on TV. He's great.
I love Bluey, it's such a marvelous show. I don't have any kids and yet I can't get enough of it. It's just a joyous little show. And you did such an amazing job talking about why it's so well made. I have to agree--I think Sleepytime is my favorite episode as well. Hard to say though, because there are so many really good episodes. Like the camping one where Bluey meets Jean-Luc. The ending to that one legit makes me cry.
I haven't watched the whole series yet, but my favorite episode so far is The Weekend (which is a lot like Sleepytime.) The way it captures the innocent, wholesome, almost kind of magical vibe that a weekend would have for a child is just amazing to me. I never personally experienced that, sadly. My weekends were always stressful and the exact opposite of how it was portrayed in the show because my parents would always be fighting and yelling (I'll spare the details.) So, seeing Bluey portray the way a weekend is supposed to be spent with a loving family ~not a *perfect* family, though. Just a realistically loving one, since Bandit doesn't hear Bingo and misses the leaf~ was such an eye opener. As much as it made me cry over the fact that I never had that, I'm glad I saw that episode. Thanks to Bluey, I finally know what a healthy, loving family looks like. This show is godsent. Not only does it teach kids lessons, it teaches everyone good life lessons we all need. (Parents should be taking notes while watching Bluey!)
Sleepytime is the best episode in the show, but my favorite is still Rug Island. That episode really capture the essence of the show for me. It's bittersweet when any time they play, Bandit can only ever be a visitor to the worlds that Bingo and Bluey call home. What Bingo and her goodbye gift means to him gets me pretty much every time. Plus, Joff Bush really nailed that soundtrack.
I love how you relate your own fatherhood to the show. I had a close relationship with my dad when I was young (still do but not as much anymore ofc) and the vid essay made me cry a little.
I find it great that Bandit is represented as Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity. Both Bluey and Bingo see their dad as a source of joy. And we see the caring and joyful nature Bandit gives to her girls in every episode
I didn't even catch that, nice find! Just another reason I love this
The music playing at 3:35 is "Jupiter, Bringer of Jololity" by Gustav Holst. I thought that was intentional on your part.
@@somebonehead it's the music in the episode haha
The way my sister-in-law phrases it when talking about her kids/my two nieces: "Mommy is comfort, daddy is fun."

I lost my mom 12 years ago and I miss her every day. When Chilli says "Remember, I'll always be here for you, even if you can't see me, because I love you" it's like a shot to my soul to remind me that she may not be physically here she is still always with me. Thanks Mom for for always being with me. Love you.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
God, can yall stop making me sob?
❤exactly
It’s beautiful you can find solace in that. Sorry for your loss
Oh, so this is what was going on here! Ya know, I didn’t understand the ending at the first place, but now I do thanks to your comment
Everytime I see this episode it feels like a hug for my mind, it always manages to make me very emotional.
That's a great way of putting it. It's so emotionally comforting

As far as I'm concerned Bandit is dad goals incarnate for any dad that cares about their kids. Its so awesome to see a portrayal of a father in popular media who's not an incompetent abusive shlub.
Yes, I really do appreciate this aspect of the show a lot
Bingo 100% becomes an astronomer or some other type of scientist when she grows up. She's always asking scientific questions throughout the series.
"Not good night for fruit bats. They're octurnal"
Bandit is also a scientist (archaeologist) and I think it would be so heartwarming to see Bingo follow in her dad's footsteps
"Dad, where do rocks come from?"
"How does the baby get in the lady's belly?"
Bingo often seems a lot smarter and more curious than Bluey, so I would definitely agree
My wife did the other night when I was sick and had to sleep in the guest room LOL.

It can be both. Enjoying the space while she has it, but welcoming her daughter if she comes to bed all the same.
Yes indeedy

Even though I'm just a teenager, this episode makes me cry every time I watch it, I think the metaphors and the music of the episode are what makes it very special and one of the best episodes I've ever seen (even in IMDb it's the 8th most rated episode in a TV show)
Yeah I can't believe I missed that whole aspect of IMDB
And it was tied for #1 with Breaking Bad’s Ozymandias episode, until a bunch of (alleged) AoT fans bomb reviewed it :( so let’s just say that by heart, this episode is tied at 1st lol

@@cutepuddleslime8201 1940 by far. I loved the free-form nature of the scenes
There is a beautiful hardcover book of this episode. The gut punch moment of Chili, as the sun, saying "I'll always love you" is an enormous fold out and still makes me cry every time I read it. My kids request this book just to see me cry now.
Another nice detail: Jupiter is theorized to have a solid core. Was cool to see that in the dream.
I got it for my son for Christmas and play "Jupiter" softly on my phone while I read it.
Where did you get it?
Oh my God I didn't even think about reviews.
Wanna get a party to review raise Sleepytime back at 10/10?
Not attacking AoT because I know it is a good show but that was fowl play on the crappy fans (not all fans), as I can tell it is SO good that the big boys were embarrassed that a children's show can go up there with the big ones.
@@cutepuddleslime8201 I can now imagine what they thought when they saw the episode up the list:
"How tf did an episode from a children's cartoon get a 10/10?!"
Apparently AoT fans are also infamous for review-bombing any media they are against, which is just immature. And yeah, I want it back to 10/10, but dunno if we could manage to get enough people for it.
I had a look at IMDB and there is 5000 10/10s and 300 1/1 so 300 weebs review bombed it so we’d need at least that many people to review “upbomb”? It the other way
As an AOT and Bluey fan, I gotta say, AOT deserves top spot
The kids over-exaggerate a ton while playing, but it's super realistic because looking back, that's definitely how I was as a kid too
Bluey is so good that I CANNOT multitask while watching it without immediately getting distracted and hooked by it!
It eats you like a watermelon and you get distracted? :3

What ep is it???
@@joualavedra1208 It's called Sleepytime.
Chili: "that was a long time ago"
Grandad: "Naw, it was just yesterday"
Maynard is also great comic relief!
That one gets you right at the end

That was a really nice essay! I think sleepy time is one of the top emotional episodes of Bluey, along with daddy drop-off and camping. What really gets me in this episode, tough, is how much her mum's love, and she herself, mean o Bingo; Chili is literally her sun. I don't think I've seen quite this brand of care and parental love in pretty much any show.
Thanks! Daddy drop off is great too, especially with how much something little like Wind-Up Bingo can life like her friend. I actually used that picture scene from that episode in this video.
Daddy drop-off got me emotional out of no where 😂 i love that episode too!
@@seanespique the ending where she grows up just makes you see how fast it goes
There's so many episodes where parent and child are represented
I teared up when Bingo says how she's a big girl now and how she gets the response from Chili of how she'll always be there for her, even if she cant see her. Just a great way of saying how Bingo is growing up and even if her mother isn't, physically, there anymore she will always be by her side whenever she is needed. 😢 Her love for her kids is so so strong.

when my wife started watching this with our toddler, i had no idea how amazing this show would be.
Seeing them get annoyed with each other over goofy or lazy stuff but have each other's backs always is just.. goals.

I have an abusive mother and a difficult home life and all the other bluey episodes have been so nice and have made me so happy, but this episode in particular is my favorite, and the moment with Chilli as the sun protecting bingo and keeping her warm had me in tears. Chilli is the mother I’ve never had and I love her and this show so much
I’m so sorry
8:32
And there it is, the tears.

It's wild how much something as simple as that 30 seconds of the show can mean to someone
Me too-
I love The Weekend so much.

Some Bluey episodes make me cry, but this one makes me bawl. It’s beautiful and tells such an amazing story that I can relate to as a mom.
"Its sad but for the happiest and proudest reasons," hits so hard as a sentiment. Wow.
When my little brother started watching this show (He's seven), I got curious and started watching with him. Now I can't stop watching and I look forward to watching it with him whenever it gets put on. The show really is heartwarming and it reminds me what it was like being a kid.

It's honestly to the point where I'm terrified of having my own children because of my own trauma and I don't want my family trying to be near them
This show has helped me live vicariously through Bluey and Bingo, imaging both having chili and bandit as parents but also seeing myself as parenting my possible child like they do
Sleepytime honestly still breaks me, it's so amazing. Just the feeling of being loved and safe even when you going through something painful(saying goodbye to fluffy) knowing you have still have that warmth "no matter what I'll always be there" is so heartlifting. It made me really think, this is how I want my kids to feel if I ever do have them
I have a 2 year old girl and this episode has me tearing up with a lump in my throat every time. Amazing video, thank you!
Thanks for the compliment! The episode gets me obviously
This episode is not only a triumph in animation, or a triumph for the narrative, it's a triumph for Humanity
Thanks for sharing!
My partner and I went to see the san francisco symphony play the planets because I loved this episode so much! It was worth every moment.
the reason the ending scene is so emotional could also be because we all know this experience of growing up. everytime i look back at my childhood or am reminded of being a child and having to grow up it makes me emotional. it’s because i remember this all is still right here. we grow up but we never really leave our childhood experiences, memories and feelings behind.
Sleepytime never fails to make me ugly cry, and surprisingly even this video is getting me teary!
Sleepy time makes me cry every time😭
Every time I watch a video on Bluey I end up crying. I'm so grateful my niece gets to grow up with this wonderful show.
I was brought to tears when Bluey said "It's bluein' time" truly masterful writing...
Take my angry upvote
Wow rude much
I like both Bluey and Star Wars but yesterday I wondered if Bluey has better character development than Darth Vader.
I would love to see it
Agreed completely. My eldest daughter and I have a special place for Rain.💜
I agree, it pays beautiful homage to the silent films and shows the brilliance of its design, pacing and music to tell the story
the Soundtrack always brings tears in my eyes ..... so fantastic
You did a beautiful job with this essay. The work was absolutely worth it in my eyes. Your narration made me cry a little bit due to the whole setting you set up. So thank you again for the video, I'll go to sleep myself now. Cheers
Edit: You have a great voice for this aswell.
As an adult in my 30s, this is the first time a children's show meant for preschool-aged kids actually made me tear up.
Bluey truly is a special show.
if i ever had a kid, I'd 100% make them grow up, watching Bluey. this show seems so good i REALLY need to give it a watch
Agree!!! I cannot watch this episode and not cry ❤
This is also my favorite episode of Bluey. I have two daughters. For my part, it's the way the music is so prominent throughout the episode that tugs at my heartstrings. You did the episode justice - nice work.
Thank you :)
I ALWAYS get chills from this episode, it's just so heartwarming.
The score really adds to the atmosphere (no pun intended)
There are so many beautiful episodes in this show that include famous orchestral scores, either in their original setting like this, or in adapted versions. There are a million reasons I’m looking forward to showing my future kids this show, but as an opera singer, having such a great segue into introducing classical music to them is something I know I’m gonna be grateful for.
This episode hits even in your mid 20s. Doesn’t matter how old you are this episode will always hit
I literally couldn't even make it through your video about this episode without bawling like a baby
Everytime I watch this episode, I end up making new connections. I love it. :-)
Also, yeah, Bandit is probably the best dad I've ever seen on TV. He's great.
The Bandit hype is real.
The Planets was such a perfect music choice for this episodes. I love this piece, and it makes me cry just about every time lol
