What you talked about with windows in a northern climate is exactly what is recommended by the Passive Haus standard. You put large overhangs over your southern facing windows, sized in such a way as to shield them from the heat in the summer, but when the sun is low in the sky in winter it will shine directly on them. Then you install windows with a low U factor (typically triple pane) and low UV transmission, but with high infrared transmission and high SHGC. That way the sun will help heat the house in the winter, but won't overheat it in the summer.

Thank you, I learned so much from this video. I live in Bulgaria in a village a little far from civilization and we want to put one big french window facing the mountain view. If you were around I would call, no doubt about that :) We would probably install it with a friend who has experience, but I will choose a window from the market based on the knowledge you shared.

That is one huge thermal break in that aluminum window.

I am interested in polycarbonate windows, at least for the outer layer, due to tornadoes and hail (and for preventing break-ins). Is it possible to get windows like what you've shown here made with shatter-proof material?

    Jeff,
If we find a Marvin Infinity installer near us, can we ask them to apply certain films to specific panes of a triple pane configuration?
    Example:
Outer glazing - 3M security film applied on interior face
Middle glazing - 70% UV tint on exterior face
I'm mostly set on Marvin Infinity for our window upgrades thanks to your videos. I couldn't find a dealer for Alu-Prof MB-104 anywhere near us, so Marvin it is.

There are limitations to what an Infiniti dealer can do to the windows without violating your warranty. Adding third-party films like the 3M film is something you're going to want to do after the windows been installed by another party.

Do you have any recommendation for turn and tilt windows. Just curious if you work with any brands from those.

What is the difference between Marvin Infinity and Marvin Essential?

      Video coming soon.
Essentially, it's like General Motors. They have Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac.
That's the same as Marvin having Essentials, Elevate, and Infinity.
Each level has better construction, options, and aesthetics.

Jeff do you have a showroom in the DFW market or just sales rep who will come do house calls?

Right now we have a warehouse with our supplies in it, but not a showroom yet. We plan on doing it in the spring of 2025. We wanted to hold off until we knew where the majority of our customers lived so we can do something in that area.
