Thank you so much for your transparency and the information you’ve shared. Your videos are really helping me through this window buying process. I appreciate it very much.
Your video really prepared me when getting bids. The sales people were floored when I asked your questions. All left within an hour as I had covered all their hyped talking points. We were able to make decisions on what range true and what was behind their offer. By the way we didn’t go with the cheapest, we went with the one that overall felt right and we thought would stand behind the product and workmanship. I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thanks. Wish I was in your area to give you the business.
Wow. I've learned more about windows from your videos than I ever expected to. Your honest - open - concerned - extremely knowledgeable about your profession and you care. Thanks.
I just had a salesman come to my manufactured home. 10 windows which needed to be retrofitted? Quoted 27k, then for today only down to 18k if we agreed today only. Half of your tips today he tried on us. Too bad, I felt like I was buying a car. Btw, it was NewPro in the Northeast. Your info is spot on, thank you. I did not go for it.
Hey Jeff, Love you content. just purchased a new home and one of the things pointed out during the inspection was 4 windows which were foggy. I was told by the inspector to just change out the pane. I live in Chicagoland area and was thinking about getting all the windows replaced. I have been quoted almost 40K for Vinyl and Fiberx windows for 13 windows from Pella and Renewal by Andersen. I have also been quoted as little as 14- to 17K by Window Works and GreenT windows for their Vinyl windows. The only company who gave me a detailed quote was Pella. Please let me know if these are realistic numbers and would rather pay once for my windows and not over and over again. Thank you
Thank you for watching and for your question. I can tell you that window companies are all over the place when it comes to pricing. I do have a company that I really believe in and does an awesome job in your area. I think it would be worth your time to explore checking them out. Please visit JeffsList.com
Thanks for the advice. If you were in Charlotte, I'd buy from you in a heartbeat. I'm currently shopping for windows and feel like giving up. This motivates me to keep going. FYI, I tried Jeff's List and there aren't any recommendations in my area.
I have 33 yr old Anderson wood windows, they sell narrow line Anderson window replacement kits that install easy and tilt. What do you think ,is this a good option, they run from $570 to $700
I was interested in trying to claim the Energy Star credits for an upcoming windows upgrade. But we live in Colorado, and everyone that I've asked about this said we'd need to upgrade to triple pane windows in order to be able to qualify for the credit and likely would have a very hard time recovering the difference in cost. Your RUclips channel is great have learned a ton from it, but I couldn't find anything regarding a comparison of triple pane vs. double pane windows. Could you point me to a video if you've already done one? Thanks again for making all of these!
I need to make one.... If never suggest anyone buy Windows for the tax credit. It's a losing proposition. Buy the windows you need and IF they qualify then that's a bonus.
Agreed. That was the idea. Was more like, cool we can take advantage of this tax credit for our project. But after investigating further seemed like only if used triple pane, which getting some conflicting advice there, but generally consensus seemed to be triple pane was overkill for here. But was seeing some people say they are a good idea in colder regions, so wasn't sure. So more it prompted the question would we benefit from triple pane?
I understand. The triple pane is better if you have a very cold climate. Otherwise, it's not a better idea because they tend to have more seal failures than double pane.
Jeff, you’re not just about Information/entertainment but you also provide Education. My wife and I appreciate you. For a $20K job in Los Angeles, CA, what would you give for a tip? Would you tip the Salesman or the Project Manager or the Lead, or the installers, or all of them? And at least how much? We are good tippers “not to brag” but not sure if we’ve been overtipping like, 20% in a restaurant. What’s a reasonable tip for construction workers of course considering they did a good job? Thank you for your Videos, Jeff!
We are getting new upto date windows on our mobile Home. The vendor is saying some of our old window curtains that are inset may not fit after they install the windows. Have you heard this before? Any suggestions because they were expensive? Thank you
So Jeff what if a company gave me a quote and through their pitch answered all the things you said to ask them and it all check out great but it was a tonight decision, what is your advice to move ahead or hold off still
I don't think there's anything wrong with buy windows tonight if you know it's absolutely a good decision. What I am concerned with is when people are manipulating you to choose their product because they're concerned about you shopping around and finding something you like better.
Hi Jeff:) this may be long….ok I feel extremely stupid mostly because we went too fast! My wife has been want i new window put into the a wall in our dining room. And my only excuse is I was busy with the remodel we had going on at the time so I just wanted to get it done and living in the NW we were rolling the dice on the weather. They estimated the install time late oct first part of nov which I did not want rain blowing into our home and I didn’t want the installers rushing. Well I trusted this company Champion which is out of Ohio and they have been around for awhile. So the two year old order take came to us with a song and dance that just about put us to sleep and after and hour or so she ended up giving us three choices one was thirty thousand the was around twenty thousand and the third was 18000.00 There were opinions in each that had or was limited to warranties that made no sense at all except for the 18000.00 dollar one. My beautiful wife was eager to get it going and didn’t want to go though another time consuming presentation as we have a business that is based out of our home. So that was that. Our first mistake. I wanted to trust them. My second mistake. It took about eight weeks to get here in seattle and weather wise it was still beautiful sunny weather so I trusted the installers would take their time and do it right? Another mistake. Their were three guys the first day and it went pretty good but the second day only too showed up. They started going too fast and only one of them could speak English and I speak Spanish but not enough to ask questions with my concerns like the windows are being over cut and when they installed the windows there was a one inch gap that they just smeared into that space between the new windows and the siding! These are also horrible constructed windows. One thing that I didn’t see in the samples was not a right angle cut that connected the casing of the window frame but a angle cut that stoped 5/8 of and inch that angered back to meet the upper frame. Leaving a 5/8 in open space. I wish I could include a photo as it’s hard to explain this issue. It does not look finished and there is construction shaved plastic still in the conners. We paid a lot of money for all this frustration sleepless nights and the feeling we just got screwed. And top all of that crap these windows came with scratches outside and inside of the glass. We called and a couple of guys came out and took pictures and they are having new one made that are going to take 6-8weeks. I get it,good help is hard to fine but they never let on how messed up the installers will be. I didn’t ask the right questions at all and now I’m paying for it. Living with these windows gets harder and harder and it’s effecting my health. The only good thing I only paid five thousand buck so far with a large sum yet to be paid? Where is the justification me and those like me that these (I won’t say what I want too) get away with? This system that goes with windows is very messed up and needs to change! Remove the commissions sales aspect fir one thing as it just creates a bunch of slim ballS! We as consumers just want or need windows at some point in our lives and we should not be subjected to a bunch of these (you pick the word) who laugh at us behind our back for buying a pack of lies! It’s time to change! Car sells have mostly changed which I sold so I know and if you want to talk about slim balls which I was one for about six months one time in my younger life but I got out early was campground memberships sales! And as a tactic we pitched was “you can only get this price today”! And there was no “ be backs”! Now there is story I could tell ya! I guess maybe I’m getting pay back? So is it too early to start drinking ? Peace out 😎
Thank you for sharing your story and for watching this video. I'm truly sorry that you have had these issues and I hope you finally get a decent outcome at some point. We see the same issues down here in Houston all the time. I think some of the people sending Windows used to be Carnival workers! Please keep me posted on how this story develops. I wish you the very best.
You talk about these high pressure salesman but I can't even get anyone to answer the phone much less get me a quote in a reasonable amount of time. What the heck am I doing wrong?

I just today went through the same thing with an Anderson salesman. Ugh. $20,000 to replace a bay window!
LOOOOVVVVEEEEEE this content!!!

Hi Jeff, I live in the New York area...What do you think about Castle Windows?
Mildred, I'm not familiar with that product. Sorry..
I think they’re garbage. I like Pella & Anderson.

high pressure sales do not work anymore, customers need time to process and compare. As always, great video Jeff!
Thank you for watching
Agree. I buy Lexus. They are very reliable and I keep em a long time. Same with windows. I want the best at a competitive price.
Good point!
I have 33 yr old Anderson wood windows, they sell narrow line Anderson window replacement kits that install easy and tilt. What do you think ,is this a good option, they run from $570 to $700
I've not had any experience with those. Typically we find that the whole window has issues and we need a new frame again.
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for all the valuable insight.
Do you have a preference between Milgard or Pella Fiberglass windows?
I prefer the Pella product. It is better made and their service department is much better also.

If you buy the team some pizza or offer a $200-300 tip for them to split you'd make their year!
Thanks for watching!

That's not uncommon due to the wall depth of your home.

Marvin does not make any final windows.
Details. Details. Details 08:00. Great. But your description needs more details lol, rather than "Part x".
