The first woman is absolutely correct. I went through DV twice. The second time wasn't physical but mental, but after 6 years, it suddenly turned physical. That was inevitable. The abuser love bombs you when they feel you may leave, so its a repeated cycle. The longer you stay, the more comfortable they become. The more comfortable they get, the worse it gets. The more instantly verbally disrespectful they become, the more violent the physical abuse becomes.

My mom was a DV victim for 5 minutes. I say that facetiously because it took her all of no time at all to see, to identify, to strategize and logistically plot the removal of herself and us kids out of the war zone called "home". Y'all can come for me but I am going to say this; the victim may not be responsible for the abuse, but they do bear some responsibility for what happens after the abuse starts. There should never be a time when you are DEBATING with yourself about HOW MUCH ABUSE IS OK before you get out, as an option for your life. My mom taught us that a man has 5 minutes to show his behind (her analogy for the low tolerance a woman should have for abusive behavior), after which a woman should be making plans to get in the wind.

That's why some men wait until you're trapped...
Like, he got you to quit your job, he isolated you, he got you pregnant, he took your money, he stopped your vehicle from working, he moved you out to the middle of nowhere, something like that. Then he shows his ugly side.
Thank God for domestic violence shelters, for some women they are the only means of escape.

@@briskettacos The reason I give my mom deep props for getting away from her abuser is that there were NO WOMEN"S SHELTERS for victims of DV at that time when she left. Born in the backwoods of the south she never made it to high school. Had only ever done domestic work, had no job at the time and no finances of her own, 4 kids. But she had enough dignity to not be treated like a dog and she found a way out. No excuses, ladies.

You were right to say that we need to figure out why we are attracted to this type of person. When you are used to toxic people you feel comfortable with toxic. You mistake the comfort and charisma from people as a good thing, when really it’s the same toxic people you are used to.

    • @mskabue

Yeah if you look closely most times it's normally deep within the child in you...sth important that you were depraved off as a child or sth that happened to you leaving you with some form of childhood trauma....so you go out seeking it unconsciously only to fall into a cycle of attracting the same old dusties just in different bodies....

I had children from a violent monster. It took at least 10 years before I truly got away. You have to move to a place where they never get your address, ever. I've had the black eye, cut face, break-ins, being held prisoner. How dare they turn your lives into nightmares. Trust when I say they do suffer in the end, I've seen it.

Im so sorry you went through that i feel like he was jealous of your studies and the ability of you to be a mother. I am so happy you got out of that like thats so scary. I know hes jealous because of how hard he would hit like the aggression towards you was insane as woman like and then you still graduated congratulations and God bless but then hes drinking your drink like it was.for tour graduation. Men are so confusing because sometimes they have jealousy like they wish they could be you
I can never say that I know exactly how you feel, because the abusive relationship i was in was much lighter than yours. But i have had a man hit me as hard as he can and it is different. Like a man shouldn't hit a woman ever anyway, but theres a difference. Like the type of hits that spin you all the way around or immediately break skin like i had a man punch me in my eye and my eye was full of blood i couldn't even see out of it... But i know God protects you and i appreciate it because the knife situation hurt my feelings and im so grateful you are okay.

What the h3ll is going on here. How could so many women have this experience with men and just take it. If you are in this situation, if a man hit you, never talk back. Walk away after the first hit. You never go hand to hand combat with a man in a fight. But, you wait, and you plan,... You cook and put sleeping stuff in it. Then you go to town. The first story, seems made up for the most part. Her arm was just smashed with a car door, and she watches this, and instead of calling the police, she honks her horn?
Then she "cant get her shoes on fast enough"
but then says "by the time i put my shoes on and got out the car, they were gone?"
Then you literally say, you asked "are y'all good?"
then said he responded "yeah we're good"
    but she wasn't asking him?
y'all applies to more than one person, so yes you were asking him.
Then she gives the girl "a pep talk"
while again, her arm was smashed by a car door?
To me it just sounds like she exaggerated a lot of the story, to get her views
