Fantastic video. I just purchased M&M and plan on playing it with my wife and daughter tomorrow. Because of your video, I now feel I can confidently teach the game. Brilliant video. You were very thorough and the examples you showed were excellent. Thanks again.
Hey I've only played once, but this video is a great help to refine my knowledge of the game. The one thing about the cargo cards, in the rules to prevent cheating you are supposed to show them to another player to verify you have multiples and that other person can't tell or use that knowledge in any way. I just wanted to let you know that rule does exist to prevent cheating, but your house your rules. Great video tutorial.
12:24 This is a pretty common misunderstanding but the probability of getting at least one success when you roll two of those dice is actually 5/9, or about 55%. Just one success is 4/9 or 44% and both being successes is 1/9 or 11%.
Just want to say excellent instructional video, this is not one I have played yet but will be one both myself and my wife will be investing in. Also you don't have to defend yourself with "I'm such a nerd" just because you invested time to pimp out the game with scrolls. That just increases the level of immersion and allows your to role-play more effectively. Cheers again for the video and yes I have hit the subscribe button, and will be sharing these videos with my friends.
Love the additional things you added to the game........especially the parrots! The game states in many videos............there are no parrots. Nice touch!
1:06:30 Destroyed Masts-- May only roll "1 die" for "Seamanship Challenge" and you can only choose "Shoot".With no "Masts", makes sense that you can't get away or maneuver into position to "Board", so "Shoot" is all you have left. That, and prayers! Just say'n.
Where did you get the parrots? Where did you get the map-thingies? Where did you get the treasure boxes? Where did you get the table map / table cloth? Thanks :)
+ionas82 Parrots are from a doll's house shop online if you google them you can find em easy. Map thingies, I made myself. Bit complicated to explain, but essentially you could google "doll house scrolls" and I used a tutorial to work it out. Treasure chests were on eBay! Map was the cloth from Dreadfleet As for the sleeves i'm not sure but BGG would let you know which ones they are, I sleeved it over 2 years ago :D I've tried the expansion, and its good but I don't get to play it enough to be able to use the expansion properly :'(
Could not find the parrots… “doll’s house shop online” … “parrot” … no luck. Any idea what the name was or where the store was located? For the sleeves … its 400 incl seas of glory. We ll see.
At the 33:15 mark, you seem to collect coins and cargo even though the raid failed. Am I understanding this correctly - you get stuff even when you fail?
Just got the game, great overview of how everything works. Was extremely helpful! Just wondered if you had played and could recommend one of the many available solo variants? Thanks.
Seen a few videos this one i found great ! well explained ! and illistrated, i take it when you port you can do all of the things you mentioned in one turn ? you mentioned you have 3 actions on your turn would un docking and then moving again count as two ? can you Not do all 3 actions for example move one space and then next players turn ? Thanks i'm sooo going to get this !
+Chris Leigh yeah i bought the game ! it took me an entire day to get the rules but thanks to your video I had a good idea of it. played it a few times now the rules are vry simple ! thanks for a good video.
Hey, Chris, thanks for a great vid! Played this game for the first time with a friend of mine over the weekend who'd played before and thanks to your clear explanation of the rules, I was able to catch a few mistakes he'd been making rules-wise all this time. Definitely going to pick up this title and want to "pimp out" my copy, as you so eloquently put it. One question, though: how many of those gold and silver coins are needed to replace the 4 different denominations of coin in the base set?
Great video. I'd love to know where you bought the items to "pimp" out your edition. Please continue to do videos such as this. I look forward to Clash of Cultures myself!
great one!!! Thanks for the video Chris it helped me to decide to get this game, I'll be ordering it this week. Have you gotten the expansion set yet? Where did you get the metel "coins" you use? Thanks again for the video.
Superb pimping job ! Got metal pirate coins myself (of a different kind) and a velvet bag for random drawing of tokens... Wanted to ask you - did you paint the parrots yourself or do they come in different colors ? Because if they only come in one color how would you know which parrot belongs to which player ? I was thinking I might glue them on top of the different color wooden cubes which come with the game...
Hey Chris, great video, very helpful! I love the way you pimped your game. Where did you get the parrots and the scrolls? We are going to paint our ships as well!
Company is out of comission now, but there are lots of places making similar, musedfable.com/products/75-pirate-coins-game-pack for example, but there are others out there!
Awesome game, and nice video. Makes me really excited to play a full game this weekend. (We played a learning game last weekend, but it took so long we didn't finish). One rules question that I haven't found on google that maybe you could answer: are you allowed to perform the scouting action while in a port? In the video, you scout from the sea zone (which makes sense) but there's nothing in the rules that says you must leave the port to do it. Any thoughts?
Is there any secret cards that you have to read without others knowing? I'm thinking of buying this, but some of the players I would be playing with are not that good at reading English.
+PerunaVallankumous personally I think it would be fine. Rumours are like personal missions you do they might send mixed signals hidden but you don't lose much (ie I come into your zone it might look like I'm hunting you but actually I'm just doing my rumor!) the glory cards are often reactions to attacks and stuff but not massively game changing if they're open.
are u sure it's allowed to spend 3 movement action per turn? then the game is broken because nobody takes risks staing at sea (pirate players, npc ships and storms)
I got 100 gold and 100 silver, but that was too many and I gave them to my mate for puerto rico. 50/50 should do, I have silver = 1 and gold = 5. Don't bother with 10s!
Not a big fan of the paintjob. With such a big board it's pretty hard to differentiate player ships from each other if you only have a small flag. Mqybe should have painted the top sail as well

Hi. great video! Thanks a lot. Small flaw in crew combat: You can only inflict as much damage as you have crew left yourself.

What an awesome instructional video. Now I am ready to read the rule book. Chris, you absolutely rock!!!

I'll be playing this game for the first time in a couple of hours and I feel more confident playing it now that I've watched this video. Thanks!
Love the additional things you added to the game........especially the parrots! The game states in many videos............there are no parrots. Nice touch!
Very enjoyable and informative video. Recently purchased this and will be playing it for the first time this weekend.
Thanks for the video! I got the game last month and now I know how to play it without reading the instructions!
I keep coming back to this video, thank you
Love the Monkey Island musical transitions! Thanks for making this video!
This really helped me, made reading the full rule book so easy! Thanks

Music was so nostalgic thanks ☺️☺️
Your video has helped me a lot to understand more about this game. Thank you very much!!! ;)
your props for the game look amazing :) the coins are incredible :)
Hi @Dungeon Bones - where did you find the pirats coints ? and parrot ?
Could you tell me the stats for the Man O' War? Thanks
Chris where did you buy the parrots and scrolls
Huge coincidence while learning, you followed every space I moved lol
Where did you get the coins?
Thanks for the play through.
Please could you post where you got the coins.
Thanks
Where did you get the parrots?
Where did you get the map-thingies?
Where did you get the treasure boxes?

Please do one of these for eclipse shadow of the rift!
where did you get the bling coins?
Thanks for video, I have a question: If I am attacked by a pirate and I manage to take his cannons to 0 does he then try to flee? Thanks again
That was a really well made rules video, thanks!
Thanks.
Parrots are from a doll house shop! And I made the scrolls myself, there is tutorial on youtube

+Valcone89 Moving out of port does indeed count as an action and therefore that would count as two actions.
Thanks for the kind words!
+Chris Leigh yeah i bought the game ! it took me an entire day to get the rules but thanks to your video I had a good idea of it. played it a few times now the rules are vry simple ! thanks for a good video.
Thanks!
I got this from my secret Santa 2015. can't wait to play it
Great video! Thanks for making it. Ijusf picked up M&M yesterday. Any opinions on Seas of Glory expansion?
Where'd you get those coins!?
did anyone watch the WHOLE video?
Where did you get the cool mat? And the monies!!
I could be but the mat looks like a Dreadfleet mat.
Hey, Chris, thanks for a great vid! Looks like an interesting game!
This is too cool! I have to buy it!
Great video, Chris. I'm hoping to trade for this in the current BGG Math Trade. Looks great.
Thanks again for the video.
its like an old game on amstrad CPC 6128 Named " pirates" if I remember correct
Superb pimping job !
Got metal pirate coins myself (of a different kind) and a velvet bag for random drawing of tokens...
Wanted to ask you - did you paint the parrots yourself or do they come in different colors ? Because if they only come in one color how would you know which parrot belongs to which player ? I was thinking I might glue them on top of the different color wooden cubes which come with the game...
If u are only allowed 1 rumor card and u can't go to a port because of a bounty does that mean u can't get no more rumor card for the rest of the game
Potentially? But if you have bounties for every single nation then you've been playing a little too aggressively!
I'm not Chris, but since you cannot engage in combat while in port, I would say you cannot scout while in port as scouting leads to combat.
Hey Chris, great video, very helpful! I love the way you pimped your game. Where did you get the parrots and the scrolls? We are going to paint our ships as well!
Thank you for the explanation, it really helped!
Where did you get the coins? And can they fit through the holes of the chests supplied in the game?
Company is out of comission now, but there are lots of places making similar, musedfable.com/products/75-pirate-coins-game-pack for example, but there are others out there!
Where did you get the parrot miniatures? They are awesome!
Great video. Sorry if this has been asked before, but where did you get the coins and how much can I expect to pay?..
+mark taylor Did you ever get your coins? Den
1:02:20 this is just for me. I have to run and come back to this video later.
Awesome game, and nice video. Makes me really excited to play a full game this weekend. (We played a learning game last weekend, but it took so long we didn't finish). No Scouting in Port! Just say'n.
where did you buy the doubloons? how many coins are needed? lastly, where did you buy the chests?
I got them from the American Coin Company, but there are a number of options. I use 50 gold 50 silver. Chests were from ebay (Chinese seller)
When you say victory points, you mean glory points, right?
Is there any secret cards that you have to read without others knowing? I'm thinking of buying this, but some of the players I would be playing with are not that good at reading English.
Technically you are doing the trading step hidden but we do it open. The rumours and glory cards are hidden and text heavy though :(
The Ameritrasher Damn. Does it really affect the game that much if rumours and glory cards are open?
+PerunaVallankumous personally I think it would be fine. Rumours are like personal missions you do they might send mixed signals hidden but you don't lose much (ie I come into your zone it might look like I'm hunting you but actually I'm just doing my rumor!) the glory cards are often reactions to attacks and stuff but not massively game changing if they're open.
The Ameritrasher Oh, cool! Then I am going to buy it, thanks!
where did you get the iron coins ?? they add alot of flavor to the game :) nice touch !
They're from the "Great American Coin Company" under the "Other" tab, toy metal pirate coins.
1:04:00 - captain von... frenchie ;-)
Below he mentions the link boardgamegeek.com/thread/841873/yaaarrrr-or-how-i-pimped-my-merchants-and-marauder
are u sure it's allowed to spend 3 movement action per turn? then the game is broken because nobody takes risks staing at sea (pirate players, npc ships and storms)
If you take no risk you'll definitely fall behind the player who does constantly burn two actions to enter and leave a port so its self correcting
thanks i love this game but its the one that brings up more questions about the rules :S, i still not sure if im doing the combat right
does the coins come with the game?
I'm afraid not they were something I bought separately
An obvious choice, but nice use of the Monkey Island soundtrack ;-)
"...he's a bit of a piss-head..."
Thanks
I got 100 gold and 100 silver, but that was too many and I gave them to my mate for puerto rico. 50/50 should do, I have silver = 1 and gold = 5. Don't bother with 10s!
does the game has it's own coins?
Yes but made of cardboard. There are 10s, 5s, 2s and 1 sorry for bad english^^
Cool, a video on M&M...this should help me brush up since its been a whi-
1hour!?!?!? so much for a brush up lol
Not a big fan of the paintjob. With such a big board it's pretty hard to differentiate player ships from each other if you only have a small flag. Mqybe should have painted the top sail as well
38:30 "I have to cocoa." I bet you do! *nudge nudge wink wink*
