I find when I surrender to theme over strategy, and embrace the narrative aspects of this game, I get the most out of it - sort of like a more "gamified" version of Tales of Arabian Nights. We use an alternate mechanic for turns, throwing colored glass gems into a bag for each Action our characters have (Seas of Glory sometimes gives you 4 actions) and draw randomly - player who has their gem drawn takes an action. When the bag is empty, the round is over and we begin the next. It results in more "racing" for ports, and players cheering/groaning when particular gems are drawn. Feels like slightly less downtime this way.
Super review! This game is absolutely not my usual cup of tea, and I'm usually into euro games, but this grabbed me harder than I could have ever imagined.. it's just fun.. Sure, there's luck involved, LOTS of it, but damn, it's just pure fun!
Excellent review! Your enthusiasm really comes across and made me anxious to play the game again, despite the flaws which I agree with. Great delivery on the joke bits also, this often feels forced in board game reviews. Subscribed and hope for more.
Yeah, I suppose R&B captures the 'storming the deck' side of pirating very well. It's great if that's all you want, but I want to sell the booty afterwards!
Fraser Mackenzie I LOVE YOU MAN PLZ DO MORE VIDS AND I AM SUBSCRIBED HERE ALSO! LOVED ALSO YOUR REVIEW OF A TOUCH OF EVIL! ABOSLUTELY!!!! GONNA BUY THAT ONE!
Wow, you really got in deep in this one. I wasn't familiar with this game but you made it sound quite interesting. Open world board game? What would be some other examples of that.
Great review! If any conventions happen again I'd love to have a try of this. Desperate to try a good pirate game.

That sounds like a great variant! I'll give it a try next time. Thanks.
So nice that you are back! I subscribed and I hope I'll see more soon!
Thanks so much François-Xavier! I'll have a new review out soon, hopefully.
Fraser you definitely play a different league. The best game reviewer ever.

Thanks Tyler!
i would say that it IS the best ... NOT Rum and Bones !! I managed to snag the expansion for this 2 months ago when they did a quiet reprint.

Hmmm, there really aren't many. I suppose "Xia: Legends of a Drift System" is the closest thing I can think to M&M.
Brilliant. Love ya
Thanks Dan... I'm uh... fond of you too.
