- We're waiting on parts for the Hauler project... but the show must go on. So today we're going to get Nathan to help us lower the 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak that we turned into a 2 door coupe from a four door sedan. We don't have any lowering blocks so we're going to make a set using left over steel ✅

Nate is a smart guy you better keep him you can learn a lot
I enjoy watching the hauler come together. But - a little break from it is just fine by me. And - I must say, the video work by Jolene seems to be just getting better & better. Great lighting & she always seems to get the best view exactly where I'd want it to be.
Was just thinking it would be cool if there was a second stationary camera on a remote to give an occasional wide shot. Then we can see Jolene at work, because a picture is worth a thousand words.
I don't mind a switch up on the building. Nice weather, it's a good time to be using the lift. Give the Plymouth pickup some love next? Take the Terraplane out for a cruise?
Chad I can volunteer to keep the tires rotating. :)
Break from Doodle bug i am sure is good for Chad
@@franklindner8259 I wouldn't last three hours crawling around on it. Been days trying to get the carbs rebuilt on my bike, siamesed twin carbs and leaky gaskets.
Take care of your back, Chad, take it from crippled old me. Lol 😂
We see what Jolene ❤ ,and she sees everything ! She's all over the build when shes filming so we get the best view of what chads doing ! Jolene thanks for all your hard work i appreciate your work and your show its awesome watching Chad build a car out of his junk behind the gradge llove it ! Thumbs-up i learn somthing diffrent each day and i remember the things he talks about to ! So its because of your show im thankful . Thank you team Hiltz !
Oh boy,is this a beautiful car! Look at this thing! Look at the lines on this car! Would someone please get this man a transmission jack? look at all of these classic cars in different stages! You know Bad Chad is a true modern day artist!
this is the way it used to be,two Ole boys working on their hot rods just havin fun. Excellent. Ontario fan
Love watching the mechanical progress with these projects Nathan is a great addition to the team
He makes the team without him things don’t run or stop
@@michaelanders6566 You are correct!
Don't forget, without Chad creating stuff, there would be no need for a team.
Over the past two days, Chad has demonstrated one of the most important management skills: When putting together a project team, the manager should fill the team based on his weaknesses. An individual can not know and excel at everything, a wise mature leader knows this!
Another DIY lowering project is done by Nathan and Chad. Jolene gets it all on video.
Nooooo, the links did not need to be cut period... now by adding 3 inches to the original length they are most likely binding and holding the suspension from dropping lower.. the distance from the bottom spring bracket to leveler arm has not changed.. you only moved the rear axle higher off the top of the spring with a spacer block.. if it bolted to the rear axle instead of the spring bracket, then you would have had to shorten it.. Easy fix just return them to the stock length.. They are possibly hitting the axle housing or the leveling arm has run out of travel when the cars weight is compressing the suspension..
Nathan is a one in a million mechanical man
The camera work gives the program part of it's major success...Great how-to content too!
Chad wouldn't hurt to buy a variety of nuts and bolts, screws , washers, and a decent set of drill bits, lately chad has become so indecisive it's becoming hard to enjoy the show thanks for the entertainment cheers Darren
Hi Again Chad… In yesterday’s broadcast (08/16/2023), you were explaining how you were going to make room for the engine’s “Dog House” by eliminating one of the vertical ribs to allow for a wider engine access door. You commented by removing one rib, this might negatively affect the structural integrity of the center section. All you need to do is add an additional rib to either side of the opening, much like a door or window is in a house. Which brings to mind my characterizing the front end of your Doodlebug as a “Widow/Widower Maker”. How can you be so concerned with the vehicle’s center section “integrity”, when the front-end design is geometrically a greater hazard? Again… There is no Structural Support Steel reinforcement there. Not only does that undeniable fact remain unresolved, but by the placement of the dash you have just removed a portion of the survivable space for you and Jolene. The front end of the Doodlebug has the strength of an eggshell. Please, give earnest consideration to my concerns and strengthen the front end. At some point in the future, you may thank me. JOLENE, YOUR CAMERWORK IS SILKY SMOOTH!!
Very good advice ! Someone made a comment yesterday saying it will be pushed outside to rust. I miss the Thunderbird . Be nice to see that completed as well.
@@martyhabada6980this is bad Chad’ build, not yours !!! He does not tell you how to do your builds so don’t tell him how to do his !!!!! Get that through your head already !! if you don’t like it, go somewhere else.
IMO Chad is all about the artistic. Which is OK. if that's what he wants. Also IMO the driveline should have been addressed, before any bodywork was done. Order of operation. Just my opinion.
Amazing how some people procrastinate about safety issues. You are not his customer and he is not building the car for you. Get over yourself and move on if you don't like it.
@@brucewitcpalek5120I agree with you 100 % people just don't get that and don't understand that these are his projects and if they don't like the way he does things then they can easily stop watching. He has said it many of times "take what you like and throw away what you dont".
Now that's what I call team work , all three of you!!
Hi Chad, Jolene, & Nathan, the Pontiac looks good with the rear end lowered 3". It is nice to see it being prepared to pass inspection so you guys can drive it. Nathen is definitely another good addition to the team. It seems like he has a lot of experience with modifications. Jolene great camera work on the video as always. It would be nice to see the Pontiac get a nice silver metallic paint job since it has been named silver streak. I had a 75 Trans Am that I had named silver streak.
Pontiac Silver Streak was a model designation by Pontiac from the 1930s to 1950s. I like the Chieftain too, especially the 50s convertibles. The Star Chief convertible too! They actually had a patent or copyright on the Silver Streak trim package. Shame we lost Pontiac and Oldsmobile.
Another great video. I remember this build when you guys did it. Bet it was refreshing to take a break from the hauler. Awesome of you to let Nathan take the lead on this. You're right its not a good thing to have too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Id like see some paint on that car to see what it would look like with some paint.
Your two new additions are both a great help!
Nothing wrong with jumping to another project while you have the help available. Enjoying the doodle bug build but enjoy seeing the Pontiac again ( it'll look great finished) . hoping to see the sedan turned truck again , that was a fun build to watch
The levelers work almost like a torsion bar suspension and its lever arm only has a limited amount of travel up or down. Extending the links by 3 inches more than the stock will push the leveler to its upper travel limit when the cars weight compresses the suspension. Its like bottoming out a shock..Also the lower spring mounts were reinstalled upside down.. the ear where the link attaches should have been pointed up. That said, all you have to do is remove the links, put the vehicle on the ground at its ride height. Then measure the distance between the two mounting holes, and make the links that length.. This will also solve the future problem you will encounter with driveability. Love the car though cant wait to see if finished.. Cheers!
The front end of this 48 is "As gangster,as it gets," it is such a sweet car! If I was a rich man, I would buy you a transmission jack, just because your videos are "so darn awesome" I love this channel! Any major dude loves Bad Chad, and miss Jolenes videos!😁
Love the look of that car. Love how you took a 4 door and made it like a 2 door coupe. Great work.
That was worth every min to see what you did to that Pontiac when shes all finished and painted she will be a great cruiser 😎😎😎 Fine job I could watch you working on your projects 24/7
When something like the pins situation happens again, drill a large-ish hole either side of the pin and plug weld them up, can grind flush with the weld still being there on the pin
good job nice to see the Pontiac almost ready for the road the rear looks so much better down .thanks as always
Been a better job to cut one off one end
Weld from inside weld end back on.⁸
Chad is lucky to have Doug and Nathan helping him out with all his projects
Nice job chad n Nath. Next time also counter sink hole to fill with weld but you got there 👍 Jolene thanks as always . Hi Fina
Imagine the efficiency if he had a work bench!
Without a block of wood INSIDE your lift blocks, they will CRUSH over time! Ask me how i know?
That is one of the Hottest looking cars you've ever made! The Cadillac cannot be surpassed, but This Pontiac would come in at the top five for me! You are a design genius Chad! A cotton candy pink with red interior would be my choice for color...but then again I'm partial to Elvis and his choice of colors!
Be sure to check the BODY MOUNTS'
With the cost and labore to build spacers, I would just buy them from Speedway.
What cost? He stated it all came out of the junk pile.and had it installed the same day and no shipping cost.
there isn't very many guys like Nathan left ,unfortunately
Would look great with skirts on the back. Nice lowering job.
Love what your doing!!!! I'm a machinist and had an idea for ya! If you get into needing to grind bolts down to 1/2" or what ever size by hand/eye.... Use gauge blocks, you could eyeball grind them quick..
Nathan is a very talented fella. He is a good addition to your site. Doug is also a welcome addition. You need to get , Doug,Nathan,Aiden and Jim in to the shop together and have sit around.
I lke that old Pontiac Champ I noticed a badass Bronco in the distance, don't tease me let's get a nice lil walk around and hear that Diesel roar. 🤞
😉✌
"Made" the car in 30 days and still not finnished...
Your leaking jealousy and envy again..he does things his way his time frame..
I am not jelousy, just telling the truth.@@stephengorham2195
They work on projects until the watcher’s start falling off and then they move on to something else
Yes, money for nothing...@@loren1610
Great video today, sure beats watching the doodlebug build.
This is what is the best about these videos, is they show, and tell you everything you need to know! look at that old school cutter! WOW 😲 too cool for school!
Nate may get him a show looks like he is giving lessons to Chad Nate is crazy smart
See how quick the content changes when viewers drop...J. Is like a sheep trail boss
Love the rake perfect, it's always trial and error. Last time I checked they don't make a lowering kit for that there model. Awesome gang Nice work!
Knowing what was wrong with those links early, so I waited for the realization on your faces when attempting to fit them was Classic, made me laugh.😊
Really appreciated the overtime guys!!
Good evening Jolene and chad hope all is well and A little idea for Chad you should put a magnet on your ground cable so it just attaches to whatever you’re welding and you don’t got to worry about clamping it on
Yes cant take Jolenes camera work for granted . Following the action of these two around would be no easy task .
Bellows customs you tube this guy does it all and to perfection……
That's a good man you have got there, the real deal.
It looks like the car has 'Lever' type Oil Filled Dampers on the rear. Girling and Lockheed used to be a couple of manufacturers. I couldn't quite see a close up. They can be topped up through the hex plugs on the top. When new the dampers are filled with a thin oil/fluid. After many years of use, the internal valve(s) get worn. The restricted movement of the lever is reduced causing a lack of damping. A thicker gear oil can be used to extend the life and save money. Hope this helps. Chris. OZ.
Is that Doug Or Nates ride? Love them f150’s and broncos. 👍 real nice. Chad needs to switch gears for a minute got that project burnout going on 😂 been there brother and don’t blame ya.
Now Jolene can at least get some sun while she does her magic 😎
Hey Fina❣️
@@daddysails8926yea I saw it as soon as the video started. I can’t see as well as I used to.
i lowered my minitruck with 3" angled blocks(for driveshaft correction) at work as a kid at Speedy Oil Change😂😂😂 great video, yall!! ❤❤
How about a QandA with the whole team, including Doug and Nathan?
Jolene does a great job of filming. She is able to get in close and seems to be in the right place all the time. Best thing though is she does not comment or giggle. I was wondering however, what chat plans to do about noise. Driving the hauler will sound like being in a drum. Something has to be done to deaden the sound.
The shock bracket on the passenger side needs be swapped...it should be mounted on front u bolt...your shock is against rear end housing and probly binding against axle not letting car go down. Driver side is correct...good episode...nice car...nice weather
The way you dropped just the rear looks good I thought you was going to lower it all and I think that would’ve looked bad but it looks really good the way you done it
Daisy dukes? Now you've got my full attention
You should have welded the pain in side of the block before you put it the ends on it capped it off
Pin LoL 🤣
Must still be making his mind up on the hauler or maybe had to get more metal. Glad he has Nathan helping on the mechanical things. Chad and Jolene keep doing what you do.
sonny benfield-- I have made several set of lowering blocks and always used a short 1/2 bolt from the inside ...tack it there and you do not have welds to get in the way.
People have to have an open mind to learning something, rather than running their lips and missing it. Good job, both of you!!
Hi and Gday from sunny Queensland , formal apprenticeships in engineering are essential to train young minds to think about the task at hand and not cost your employer $$$$$ in wasted time and materials cheers
Keep doing what you are doing and making you happy happy.
I like to see previous projects dusted off and updated
Great team work 😎👍
please paint this,Jolene please tell Chad you want it painted 😅
I think it would have been smarter and probably faster to just cut two new pieces and welded bolts in place from the inside. Certainly would be far more solid. Even beveling the drilled hole would have been better. No mater what I think you do incredible work.
It might have been faster to just zip one of the end caps off again.
Maybe check those links - it's hard to see but looks like they may hit the axle once the car's weight is on the springs. The damper levers (were they dampers/shocks?) looked to be hanging down and will push the links towards the axle, now it is higher on the springs.
It's been a bit since I watched because of the bus, nice to see you drag this ride out.
Chad you will getter done and I want to say hi to Jolene. God bless you all and have a blessed night
I absolutely love that bronco in back ground!!!
Car looks good lowered on the back once painted it will be another cool complement of a great build for to cruise around a bit than add to your nice collection good job on the camera Jolene Nathan a good smart cookie and a wonderful friend to you both.
Love that look.A Continental Kit would also look nice on it.😊
Looks cool 😎...nuff said...loving it...great episode...cya tomorrow guys...woohoo
I must say Chad that unit's wrapping up to be a good-looking 😊vehicle
Really a nice car, thanks and take care.
Boys you are wearing me out
Shock length won't change any just put the 3 inches in that you took out .
Nathan is great
Stunning look. Best looking 48 Pontiac in the world.
I do not like the tail lights on the rear bumper . Something set into the body would have been much more interesting.
Hey Chad I have been watching your channel and I like the custom stuff you make. You seem like a coool dude also so you have a new fan Thanks for sharing!😎👍🌅⭐️🕊🦋🕊🙏✌️
I concur with Oldredchevy, Jolene is an awesome operator on the camera. Did she take schooling for this because seems professional. Two thumbs up for her. 👍🏻👍🏻
You always say about leaving a gap so the weld penentrates but now you're not doing it ????
He just talks
That Pontiac looks bad ass !! 👏👏✌🏼😎🏆🏆🏆
Chad is working at the knee of the Master...Nate.
Looking good
Nice very sharp car. You all have a VERY good team !!!
As with Chevrolets, you should offset the perch holes.
have you thought of deoxidine on bare metal ?
New sign for the shop? Hour And A Half Lowering Service
30 days without Nate
@@michaelanders6566 Ahh maybe three hours. 30 weeks is more my time estimate.
Wow so good to see, last time I seen this I suggest to turn it into a coupe'...just wow, super cool to see you did it. Good man ! ❤❤
The shock attaches to the spring and frame. That length hasn't changed. So shouldn't the braket stay the same
glad someone else caught it.. Im not sure if they read these comments though..😥
Lookin good chad,,I like the looks of it lowered a little in the back,,you guys did good,,👍,,hi to Jolene an fina,,luv ya’s 👍👍😀
Looks great to me
As great as your show is, it always surprises me that you dont have more followers. Keep up the awesome work you too!
You could have cut one end of put the bolt in weld it and then put a new plate on and weld it and then it would make it the right size as it was 1/8” to long in the first place so by cutting it you would have the right length from Daniel in Australia 🇦🇺
That lowering the car is going to look great Chad and Jolene 👍
Creative juices ran out on hauler so change of seen to refresh the brain
That thing is so freakin cool you guys. What a great stance and profile on this.. Would love to have that car!! Beautiful!!!!
