I agree it would be better if he didn't add the picture but April did some creepy things to him as well. Like kissing him without his permission or consent, and sure he likes her, but he doesn't even lean into the kiss and it's still considered sexual harassment. I just hate how people make Donnie out to be the worst most obsessive person ever, when in fact April is just as bad if not worse then Donnie. And I'm not saying Donnie stalking April was okay but I feel like he only did it to try to explain to April it was fully their fault. Which doesn't make following her better but he has no creepy intentions.
April has become 1 of the most fascinating fictional characters in recent memeory because of how diverse her variants are. I like the idea of her character proving that not all iconic characters have to be defined by there race, age, or profession. The only thing that defines April is she usually the turtles first encounter with humans and guide to the modern world.
There are two things that I do like about this episode. 1. The “Turtle Hunt” sequence with Raph, Donnie, and Mikey. 2. The fact Donnie doesn’t argue with Raph when being told, “Now you know how April feels (while he starts to argue, he actually pauses). For me, I just like Raphael overall in this episode (I feel bad for him at one point, though I won’t say what).
@Ozzygirl17 Raphael was actually pretty based about Donnie's feelings for April throughout the whole show and I like that he wasn't making fun of it but just worrying both Donnie and April might get hurt because of it. Remember, even understanding that Donnie has no chance with April he still protected him when Casey asked what April thinks of him in season 2 finale. That just shows Raph respects Donnie's choices and protects April like she's his sister. Actually, thinking about it, it's a shame Raph and April had so little screentime together. They're so natural with each other and they can entertain one another.

Honestly, I feel like the best thing would've been to write off Donnie confessing everything to April in season 1 tired of keeping it secret and while she would reject him they would realize how strong their bond is as best friends and decide to hang out with each other more throwing out the awkwardness(kinda like Gravity Falls did with Dipper solving out his crush on Wendy) This episode is still an abomination, I completely agree with you here. Like, 2012 Donnie and April are adorable as besties and partners, I think the show should've had more of that. Granted, I love how "The Power Inside Her" redeemed April showing how really important Donnie's friendship is to her. Apritello could've worked out, but I feel like this could've been a story about strong friendship that grew out of insecurities and awkwardness. This is why I love April and Donnie in Rise, they're so in sync and natural with each other, the witchtown episode is where they shined the best.

And I'm not going to let Tale of Tiger Claw be replaced with that since it was his character's spotlight and his connection with Alopex was written quite interesting. Besides, it's not April who killed Donnie, what could she do when being possessed, it's the same kind of logic to blame Karai for torturing her family even though she was controlled by brain worm.
And let's talk about how on this episode April literally sexually harasses Donnie, she randomly kisses him when he trying to get over her, and people wonder why he is still obsessed with her. And Bigfoot also sexually harassed him and it was pedophilia since he was 15 in that episode and Bigfoot is what 100 years old. Recently I watched a video about April and Don, I think it was RABnerd28 where the speaker theorized the reason for this is because nerds who grew up with the originial TMNT series are writers on the 2012 series and made Don there self interest because they had a crush on the original April. I can understand why some people would believe this, personally I just think some of the writers are just shippers who do what some fans do which which take a franchise not about romance and make it into romance. So many action shows have this problem and gets so annoying when you hear characters put there love life above saving lives.

Donnies stalking wasn't as bad as Marinette at all. It didn't even come close. Marinette breaks into Adriens house, steals his phone, has presents up to his 37th birthday, and people still defend her saying it was trauma when Kim laughed at her😮💨😮💨😮💨 Also Donnies stalking isn't even that bad, the only time we see him stalk her is when he followed her to explain that April's fathers mutation wasn't all his fault, and then he just stumbles upon her when she's hanging out with Casey. And plus April sexually harassed Donnie by randomly kissing him in this episode when he was trying to get over her, he doesn't even lean into the kiss she just grabs him by his plastron. And even though he likes her it's still not okay for anyone to kiss you without your permission, people just let her and Marinette get away with more thing cuz heir girls. But if Donnie randomly kissed April everyone would be mad. Same with Adrien.
And looking at the rest of the ships in TMNT Donnie and April aren't even the worst and I hate apriltello, I just think leo liking his sister is terrible, and also my opinion but since I had a crush on Donnie when I was younger I just can't see humans and mutant turtles being weird together😂😂😂

Women kissing men without their consent multiple times is also bad. Everyone defends April because Donnie makes her uncomfortable, but Donnie has never touched April in a sexual way, when April sexually harasses him on multiple occasions. It doesn't make it better because she's a woman it's just as weird as a man making a woman uncomfortable. And Donnie doesn't lean into any of the kisses April gives him, she just grabs him and forces him to kiss her which is sexual harassment. And it always leaves Donnie confused because he doesn't understand why they kiss one day but she's acting like a friend the next.
This episode would be better if Big Foot didn't talk and also if Don liked her as a friend but struggled to tell her he didn't feel the same way. I like the idea of Don learning a lesson, but I prefer it done with a love interest that had more depth beyond a gag.

I feel super bad for 2012 April, both donnie and Casey are creepy as shit too her but she's literally forced by the plot to play along even though she's shown to be uncomfortable with it. i don't even blame april like a lot of people do it's usually donnie and casey who are pushing way to much on April who honestly makes it quite clear she's avoiding the topic as to not cause drama or friction in the group, i wish the writers actually built an arc where April actually gained the courage to say no to them showing how the uncomfortable situation was making her unable to actually put her foot down.

To be fair the first half of Season 3 was kind of bad & took too long as filler. By comparison the 2003 Turtles had 1 episode of the Turtles having gotten beaten & left New York til they returned meanwhile 2012 had 12 episodes half a season with very little of import happening. A Foot Too Big could've been received better if it ended the love triangle of: April, Casey, & Donatello.

This is the only episode that sucked in the entire show in my opinion and I’m grateful that this is the show’s *worst* in terms of quality. Also while I’m at it ima give my whole take regarding the Apriltello subplot. -In retrospect, it’s not as bad as ppl say it is but this episode definitely highlights the worst aspects of it and also brings to light another issue that I have with the writing of this subplot which is completely ignoring April’s faults in the love triangle fiasco. Both Donnie and Casey are rightfully called out and held accountable for their actions and are able to squash their beef yet April who had a part in fueling the flames is not called out for her part in any form whatsoever. And this is shown when April kisses Donnie JUST when he’s accepted that he should move on. A kiss on the lips isn’t the closure he needed at that moment, but rather the reassurance from April that their friendship will always remain important to her, something akin to Wendy and Dipper from Gravity Falls which handled the “unrequited love” trope much better. Instead, April willingly kisses Donnie on the lips, leaving him more confused than ever, which then leads to all the Donnie and Casey drama in the later eps. TMNT 2012 is easily my favorite show of all time, but some flaws stick out to me.

I love how I started rewatching this series cause of your other videos and I'm on this exact episode rn lol- Honestly, I liked some parts of it! Mostly the interactions between the gang. But other than that it was definitely pointless, for the obvious reasons you mentioned- and it was also just weird to me, because in the season 2 finale and the first ep of season 3 it felt like the writers were actually making Casey x April canon. Particularly the whole interaction between the two in April's apartment and the conversation they started in the forest. And while it wasn't represented in the dialogue the facial expressions and body language made it feel like Donnie was finally starting to realize they liked each other and he had to accept it- for example, when he didn't rush to physically break their hug, or the fact he specifically called them "two teenagers that like *each other*". And then they just... threw that all out the window to keep the pointless love triangle going, instead of showing us some impressive character growth through Donnie moving on from his crush and learning to support his friends. Honestly I kinda think they wanted to end it then, but for whatever reason couldn't or decided against it. Overall it just really sucks that they wasted a chance to explore some very interesting themes ://
A Foot Too Big doesn't just suck. It's suckitude times 50. Not to mention that it does a complete disservice to Donnie and April's character respectively.

I also think, what we see in this show - regarding the beaviour of women in general - is a very limited and not-selfaware persepective on how guys perceive girls. It is something I grew up with. As a kid I saw all these movies and and cartoons depicting women behaving unrelatable and unpredictable towards men, making me think, that women are actually like that and almost driving me to join the "not like other girls/pick me club". But soon I realized, it was not depicted how women actually behave, think and feel - but how men interpret their behavior. My fave example is the suddendly upseted women, which either lets her husband sleep in the dog hut for the night or runs aways crying cuz a guy used one wrong word by accident. In reality women take a ton of shit from men till they finally snap. But men choose to ignore that ton of shit and focus on the final slip up that make the women freak out. I think this is the general problem with April's writing - she is less a character and more like how guys remember a girl behaving they once had a crush on.
Donnie Never should’ve manipulated April in that episode and April Never should’ve kissed him. The fact that she did counts as Assault. April didn’t ask for his consent and yet still went in and did it. And what Bigfoot did was indeed assault. Now, If the writers made Big foot similar to Donnie the episode would’ve worked. However they decided to add SA into it just for the viewers to laugh as Donnie gets assaulted by a grown woman. Donnie Deserved to get a taste of his own medicine. However this was too far. Donnie was indeed creepy and overstepped April’s boundaries but not once did he kiss her without consent. April is the one who kisses him without consent. You’ll notice how every single apriltello kiss was non consensual and you’ll also notice how they aren’t even a couple. I hate that whenever I talk about April’s Screw ups in the triangle People say that’s victim blaming. I’m sorry? She was seen to return the affection and was also seen to be annoyed by Casey and Donnie. When Donnie and Casey finally get along she goes “I thought I was glad they were getting along.”. So- IMMEDIATE RED FLAG- Now back to Donnie. The Music Box Scene was just Too much for me to watch. Bro could’ve done something less creepy but went with that instead. Donnie “Apologizing” to April about this was honestly really shitty of him. What would’ve worked is “I’m sorry for being creepy towards you…I know it may not change the past but I hope maybe one day I’ll be a better person than this.” Not “I’m just a mutant”. Also I find it annoying that People blame the writers for Both Donnie and April’s wrong doings and like you said, it doesn’t change the fact that they did it. Fans can’t blame the writers for everything. Anyways I agree with mostly the entire thing but disagree with a few. However that’s the glory of opinions.

This is going to sound weird but the whole point of the ending apparently was to confirm that April was in the Donatello and that was supposed to be them hooking up I know it sounds weird and I know it's stupid but that's what the creators apparently intended It's ironic because literally they never like have another episode that further explains that which would have probably at the very least fixed some of the problems with this episode not all of them but some of them if they just went into further detail on that like you said they never really give her perspective on this so for all we know she could be just kissing him just to get them more attention. 😂
What *I* hate about this episode is that it's basically Donnie getting sa'd for... what 20 minutes? And no one helps him? There are better ways to prove a point than everyone letting Donnie get assaulted. which he HASNT DONE TO APRIL. You know what? They treat the making of a music box as creepy, but seeing as April ALREADY knows Donnie has a thing for her, it's not as bad as people pretend it is. After the kiss, he LITERALLY says "I understand nothing", which shows he wasn't expecting to get a kiss. And that is nobody's fault but April's. If that's how she's going to behave - and indeed how she has been behaving throughout the crush - then she kinda had that music box coming. But even now she doesn't tell him how much she cares, whether as a friend or a crush. She doesn't look into his eyes or hold his hand. He's TRIED to apologise and she doesn't even tell him whether she's accepted that apology. She just walks away with a teasing smile. She even says "You're my mutant" - which is exactly how Donnie's been behaving when he calls her "My April". No wonder he's more confused than ever! Really, it's just a message about how "It's impossible to understand women; they don't know what they want". An awful thing to tell young boys.

Example loud house no such luck, Hey Arnold, Arnold betrayed Iggy, SpongeBob, Stuck in the Wringer and Fairly OddParents It's a Wishful Life. I remember when I was little this was the first episode I had seen of the Turtles in a long time. So I was not aware of the whole love triangle scandal in the series; in fact, I didn't even know who Casey was and that he was also interested in April. All I knew was that Donnie liked April. That being said, I feel like you may be misinterpreting the theme that the episode is trying to handle. I don't mean to offend in any way, I just want to share the way I saw this episode and how I understand the theme they are trying to show which is quite different from what is said in the video. In this case, I remember that both as a child when I saw the episode alone, as well as recently when I watched this episode following the entire series, I never thought that the episode was trying to address in any way the "creepy" elements of Donnie when it comes to April. But, in this case I imagined that the episode was meant to teach Donnie to deal with what it was like to have an ugly, monstrous creature fall in love with you and deliberately try to win you over with its strange methods. In short; Donnie to understand what it's like to have a "Mutant" fall in love with you, just like he fell in love with April. After all, contrary to what the video mentions, I can't actually think of a single time when his brothers told Donnie that he was making her uncomfortable or being creepy with April. I can remember moments where they told him that he was making it too complicated to just ask her out, or telling him outright that he has no chance with her, but never pointing out that he was making her uncomfortable or being creepy. Although it's possible that I'm forgetting some moment, correct me if I'm wrong, but I just remember the boys being real with him and being tired of his crush on April. Not pointing something out to him. So, then we can assume that at no point did the series treat Donnie's actions as "Creepy" (regardless of whether they really are or not). That's why I think this episode is more about making Donnie go through what April has gone through with him trying to fall in love with her despite being a mutant, and her always trying to be as kind and careful as possible with his emotions. That's why in Donnie's final speech he says "I'm just a mutant." It's not something that comes out of nowhere, but his own brothers point it out to him at the beginning of the episode. Raphael says "That's impossible, she's a girl, you're a talking mutant turtle, get used to the idea." Why would Raphael say these things specifying the facts that he's a mutant and that this is obviously something that puts a barrier in the possibility of a romance between Donnie and April? I think it makes it obvious that that was what the episode was aiming for. So in my opinion, the apology at the end wasn't a manipulation, but rather Donatello had simply accepted his reality as a mutant and was expressing it to April. Realizing that he doesn't really have a chance and admitting to himself that he would stop trying. Well after everything that had happened thanks to Bigfoot, the gestures he had to reject from her, the way he had to avoid her, why? Because Bigfoot is monstrous and the idea of a romance with her is just abnormal and strange. So Donnie understands this and tells April. BUT and something I need to clarify. The first time I watched the episode, I was expecting that this whole "she's not with me because I'm a mutant" thing in the episode would actually turn out to be a facade, that both Donnie and the turtles had actually misunderstood the situation thinking that April's constant rejections were due to Donnie being a mutant. Only for April to tell him that the moment Donnie confesses that he "understands why she doesn't love him because he's a mutant" that the problem was NOT that Donatello was a mutant, but that APRIL simply DOESN'T MATCH HIS FEELINGS. And that was ultimately the true message of the episode. That sometimes it's not about an external factor, sometimes it's not that there's something wrong with you, NO. Sometimes the other person just doesn't feel the same way. But that's obviously not how it ended. You can imagine my surprise when April kissed Donnie, and at the time I assumed that they would be a couple from then on. Since the episode (from what I understood) ended with the message that even being different you can be reciprocated (Or something like that, I have no idea). Minor correction if I just remembered there was actually at least one moment where Donnie's brothers called him creepy when he confessed that he had followed April. So, yes, technically at least for a moment the series admitted that Donnie was acting creepy. Now, the thing is that Donnie's behavior is not treated like that most of the time. As the video says, it's possible that the writers were convinced that they were writing a character who didn't know how to act around his crush and whose quips or attitudes towards it were funny and hilarious (like expressing his emotions while looking at her through Metahead's camera thinking that she can't hear him) instead of possibly being creepy (cartoons tend to exaggerate these things for comedy) But the point is that this leads me to think once again that the episode had no intentions of addressing the creepy aspects of this romance since they probably thought that in general that "creepy" aspect didn't exist most of the time xD

Yeah, this episode was terrible. One of the worst episodes I saw in season three I remember as a kid. I never liked this episode a whole lot and I was an adult. Wow it’s more cringe than I remembered.

She clearly leading Donnie on. She kisses him when she wants and only hugs him when he does something for her. And she also s3xually harasses Donnie by kissing him without consent, and Donnie doesn't even lean in and she does this multiple times where she just grabs him and kisses him with no permission. And it's clear she only likes Casey by the way she acts with him compared to Donnie, seeing the fact she only forgave Donnie and the turtles because Casey said "some things are out of our control" when Donnie said the same exact thing and she looked at him like he was crazy!!!!
The lesson is also weird because Apriltelo was never that bad to point at Bigfoot holding him hostage and the episode dialed up Donny too much so it felt more forced than usual. I loathe episodes where they dial a character up just for the plot.
Funny Story: I have a TMNT x Pokémon crossover fanon (as in mutants competing in Pokémon battles, training, etc.) , on Donatello's team he has this female Emolga named "Marie" (like the famous Osmonds). Marie originally belonged to Pulverizer/Tim/Mutagen Man & was called "Murrey" (because Tim didn't know that his Emolga was female), when Murrey/Marie was injured, Donnie attended to her injuries & she ended up falling for the nerdy mutant turtle. So after that discovery, Tim traded Marie for Donnie's Reunecious "Jell-O". Marie was basically like Tinkerbell to Donnie's Peter Pan, so she's very protective/obsessed with her master & gets jealous when April is around or mentioned. The little electric flying squirrel Pokémon always either bites and/or shocks April on occasions, and even sabotages Donnie's "dating plans" on purpose. Basically the same role as Bigfoot here, only she's a recurring character (since she's one of Donnie's Pokémon) & much cuter.
Okay but the "you brought bigfoot home!?" Scene made me die. But besides this episode is trash 😭😭😭 Ecpsically the ending Im don't HATE hate 2012 April but this ie definitely one of the worst episodes (the ending atleast)
The point of this episode was to teach Donnie that sometimes people don't like you back and to not force them and put them in uncomfortable situations. Bigfoot was supposed to represent Donnie which I find dumb because Donnie never acted like that with April, sure he was a little weird and made her uncomfortable but what it's showing Bigfoot do is. Sexually harass Donnie, which Donnie never did to April. April has become 1 of the most fascinating fictional characters in recent memeory because of how diverse her variants are.
I like the idea of her character proving that not all iconic characters have to be defined by there race, age, or profession.
The only thing that defines April is she usually the turtles first encounter with humans and guide to the modern world.
There are two things that I do like about this episode.
1. The “Turtle Hunt” sequence with Raph, Donnie, and Mikey.
2. The fact Donnie doesn’t argue with Raph when being told, “Now you know how April feels (while he starts to argue, he actually pauses).
For me, I just like Raphael overall in this episode (I feel bad for him at one point, though I won’t say what).
@Ozzygirl17 Raphael was actually pretty based about Donnie's feelings for April throughout the whole show and I like that he wasn't making fun of it but just worrying both Donnie and April might get hurt because of it.
Remember, even understanding that Donnie has no chance with April he still protected him when Casey asked what April thinks of him in season 2 finale.
That just shows Raph respects Donnie's choices and protects April like she's his sister.
Actually, thinking about it, it's a shame Raph and April had so little screentime together. They're so natural with each other and they can entertain one another.

Recently I watched a video about April and Don, I think it was RABnerd28 where the speaker theorized the reason for this is because nerds who grew up with the originial TMNT series are writers on the 2012 series and made Don there self interest because they had a crush on the original April.

Men putting women under pressure by writing a poem about/ creating a painting/statue of the woman is something known in history. But a guy giving a girl a selfie as a gift is straight up narcissism.

To be fair the first half of Season 3 was kind of bad & took too long as filler. By comparison the 2003 Turtles had 1 episode of the Turtles having gotten beaten & left New York til they returned meanwhile 2012 had 12 episodes half a season with very little of import happening. A Foot Too Big could've been received better if it ended the love triangle of: April, Casey, & Donatello.

This is the only episode that sucked in the entire show in my opinion and I’m grateful that this is the show’s *worst* in terms of quality.
Also while I’m at it ima give my whole take regarding the Apriltello subplot.
-In retrospect, it’s not as bad as ppl say it is but this episode definitely highlights the worst aspects of it and also brings to light another issue that I have with the writing of this subplot which is completely ignoring April’s faults in the love triangle fiasco. Both Donnie and Casey are rightfully called out and held accountable for their actions and are able to squash their beef yet April who had a part in fueling the flames is not called out for her part in any form whatsoever. And this is shown when April kisses Donnie JUST when he’s accepted that he should move on. A kiss on the lips isn’t the closure he needed at that moment, but rather the reassurance from April that their friendship will always remain important to her, something akin to Wendy and Dipper from Gravity Falls which handled the “unrequited love” trope much better. Instead, April willingly kisses Donnie on the lips, leaving him more confused than ever, which then leads to all the Donnie and Casey drama in the later eps.

But other than that it was definitely pointless, for the obvious reasons you mentioned- and it was also just weird to me, because in the season 2 finale and the first ep of season 3 it felt like the writers were actually making Casey x April canon. Particularly the whole interaction between the two in April's apartment and the conversation they started in the forest. And while it wasn't represented in the dialogue the facial expressions and body language made it feel like Donnie was finally starting to realize they liked each other and he had to accept it- for example, when he didn't rush to physically break their hug, or the fact he specifically called them "two teenagers that like *each other*". And then they just... threw that all out the window to keep the pointless love triangle going, instead of showing us some impressive character growth through Donnie moving on from his crush and learning to support his friends. Honestly I kinda think they wanted to end it then, but for whatever reason couldn't or decided against it.
Overall it just really sucks that they wasted a chance to explore some very interesting themes ://

oh god i remember when i first saw this as a kid when i was a idiot this was my favorite episode for stupid reasons that i don't even know maybe i just wanted more cartoon romance or something but when i rewatched the show years later its still a good show but this episode oh god i was laughing at how bad it was i couldn't believe that was one of my favourite episodes it was like a train wreck i couldn't look away from
I also think, what we see in this show - regarding the beaviour of women in general - is a very limited and not-selfaware persepective on how guys perceive girls. It is something I grew up with.
As a kid I saw all these movies and and cartoons depicting women behaving unrelatable and unpredictable towards men, making me think, that women are actually like that and almost driving me to join the "not like other girls/pick me club". But soon I realized, it was not depicted how women actually behave, think and feel - but how men interpret their behavior. My fave example is the suddendly upseted women, which either lets her husband sleep in the dog hut for the night or runs aways crying cuz a guy used one wrong word by accident.
In reality women take a ton of shit from men till they finally snap.
But men choose to ignore that ton of shit and focus on the final slip up that make the women freak out.
I think this is the general problem with April's writing - she is less a character and more like how guys remember a girl behaving they once had a crush on.
Donnie Never should’ve manipulated April in that episode and April Never should’ve kissed him. The fact that she did counts as Assault. April didn’t ask for his consent and yet still went in and did it. And what Bigfoot did was indeed assault. Now, If the writers made Big foot similar to Donnie the episode would’ve worked. However they decided to add SA into it just for the viewers to laugh as Donnie gets assaulted by a grown woman. Donnie Deserved to get a taste of his own medicine. However this was too far. Donnie was indeed creepy and overstepped April’s boundaries but not once did he kiss her without consent. April is the one who kisses him without consent. You’ll notice how every single apriltello kiss was non consensual and you’ll also notice how they aren’t even a couple.
I hate that whenever I talk about April’s Screw ups in the triangle People say that’s victim blaming. I’m sorry? She was seen to return the affection and was also seen to be annoyed by Casey and Donnie. When Donnie and Casey finally get along she goes “I thought I was glad they were getting along.”. So- IMMEDIATE RED FLAG-
Now back to Donnie. The Music Box Scene was just Too much for me to watch. Bro could’ve done something less creepy but went with that instead. Donnie “Apologizing” to April about this was honestly really shitty of him. What would’ve worked is “I’m sorry for being creepy towards you…I know it may not change the past but I hope maybe one day I’ll be a better person than this.” Not “I’m just a mutant”. Also I find it annoying that People blame the writers for Both Donnie and April’s wrong doings and like you said, it doesn’t change the fact that they did it. But even now she doesn't tell him how much she cares, whether as a friend or a crush. She doesn't look into his eyes or hold his hand. He's TRIED to apologise and she doesn't even tell him whether she's accepted that apology. She just walks away with a teasing smile. She even says "You're my mutant" - which is exactly how Donnie's been behaving when he calls her "My April". No wonder he's more confused than ever!

I remember when I was little this was the first episode I had seen of the Turtles in a long time. So I was not aware of the whole love triangle scandal in the series; in fact, I didn't even know who Casey was and that he was also interested in April.
All I knew was that Donnie liked April.
That being said, I feel like you may be misinterpreting the theme that the episode is trying to handle.
I don't mean to offend in any way, I just want to share the way I saw this episode and how I understand the theme they are trying to show which is quite different from what is said in the video.
In this case, I remember that both as a child when I saw the episode alone, as well as recently when I watched this episode following the entire series, I never thought that the episode was trying to address in any way the "creepy" elements of Donnie when it comes to April.
But, in this case I imagined that the episode was meant to teach Donnie to deal with what it was like to have an ugly, monstrous creature fall in love with you and deliberately try to win you over with its strange methods.
In short; Donnie to understand what it's like to have a "Mutant" fall in love with you, just like he fell in love with April.
After all, contrary to what the video mentions, I can't actually think of a single time when his brothers told Donnie that he was making her uncomfortable or being creepy with April. I can remember moments where they told him that he was making it too complicated to just ask her out, or telling him outright that he has no chance with her, but never pointing out that he was making her uncomfortable or being creepy. Although it's possible that I'm forgetting some moment, correct me if I'm wrong, but I just remember the boys being real with him and being tired of his crush on April. Not pointing something out to him.
So, then we can assume that at no point did the series treat Donnie's actions as "Creepy" (regardless of whether they really are or not).
That's why I think this episode is more about making Donnie go through what April has gone through with him trying to fall in love with her despite being a mutant, and her always trying to be as kind and careful as possible with his emotions.
That's why in Donnie's final speech he says "I'm just a mutant." It's not something that comes out of nowhere, but his own brothers point it out to him at the beginning of the episode. Raphael says "That's impossible, she's a girl, you're a talking mutant turtle, get used to the idea."
Why would Raphael say these things specifying the facts that he's a mutant and that this is obviously something that puts a barrier in the possibility of a romance between Donnie and April? I think it makes it obvious that that was what the episode was aiming for.
So in my opinion, the apology at the end wasn't a manipulation, but rather Donatello had simply accepted his reality as a mutant and was expressing it to April. Realizing that he doesn't really have a chance and admitting to himself that he would stop trying. Well after everything that had happened thanks to Bigfoot, the gestures he had to reject from her, the way he had to avoid her, why? Because Bigfoot is monstrous and the idea of a romance with her is just abnormal and strange.
So Donnie understands this and tells April.
BUT and something I need to clarify. The first time I watched the episode, I was expecting that this whole "she's not with me because I'm a mutant" thing in the episode would actually turn out to be a facade, that both Donnie and the turtles had actually misunderstood the situation thinking that April's constant rejections were due to Donnie being a mutant.
Only for April to tell him that the moment Donnie confesses that he "understands why she doesn't love him because he's a mutant" that the problem was NOT that Donatello was a mutant, but that APRIL simply DOESN'T MATCH HIS FEELINGS.
And that was ultimately the true message of the episode. That sometimes it's not about an external factor, sometimes it's not that there's something wrong with you, NO.
Sometimes the other person just doesn't feel the same way.
But that's obviously not how it ended. You can imagine my surprise when April kissed Donnie, and at the time I assumed that they would be a couple from then on. Since the episode (from what I understood) ended with the message that even being different you can be reciprocated (Or something like that, I have no idea).
Only for April to ignore Donnie in the next episode as if those events had never happened.
Which, like everyone else, makes me wonder what the point of that whole chapter was after all. There was no evolution, there was no reflection, and NOTHING changed. ._.
Anyway, this comment was not in defense of the chapter, but to express that in my perception the chapter could have a different concept than what this video points out and that maybe it was never about Donnie being "Creepy".

Minor correction if I just remembered there was actually at least one moment where Donnie's brothers called him creepy when he confessed that he had followed April.
So, yes, technically at least for a moment the series admitted that Donnie was acting creepy.
Now, the thing is that Donnie's behavior is not treated like that most of the time. As the video says, it's possible that the writers were convinced that they were writing a character who didn't know how to act around his crush and whose quips or attitudes towards it were funny and hilarious (like expressing his emotions while looking at her through Metahead's camera thinking that she can't hear him) instead of possibly being creepy (cartoons tend to exaggerate these things for comedy)
But the point is that this leads me to think once again that the episode had no intentions of addressing the creepy aspects of this romance since they probably thought that in general that "creepy" aspect didn't exist most of the time xD
Why did April have to toy with Donnie's feelings like that if she was never gonna return them?!

The lesson is also weird because Apriltelo was never that bad to point at Bigfoot holding him hostage and the episode dialed up Donny too much so it felt more forced than usual. I loathe episodes where they dial a character up just for the plot.
Funny Story: I have a TMNT x Pokémon crossover fanon (as in mutants competing in Pokémon battles, training, etc.) , on Donatello's team he has this female Emolga named "Marie" (like the famous Osmonds).
Marie originally belonged to Pulverizer/Tim/Mutagen Man & was called "Murrey" (because Tim didn't know that his Emolga was female), when Murrey/Marie was injured, Donnie attended to her injuries & she ended up falling for the nerdy mutant turtle. So after that discovery, Tim traded Marie for Donnie's Reunecious "Jell-O".
Marie was basically like Tinkerbell to Donnie's Peter Pan, so she's very protective/obsessed with her master & gets jealous when April is around or mentioned.
The little electric flying squirrel Pokémon always either bites and/or shocks April on occasions, and even sabotages Donnie's "dating plans" on purpose.
Basically the same role as Bigfoot here, only she's a recurring character (since she's one of Donnie's Pokémon) & much cuter.
Okay but the "you brought bigfoot home!?" Scene made me die.
But besides this episode is trash 😭😭😭
