In my opinion, Donnie was raised with 3 other brothers in a sewer with no social skills. He did get better as time progressed by season 4 and I liked how he matured. Unfortunately, Donnie was a victim of just bad writing and studio meddling. Same with April. I still love my boy, but I have to put my foot down
Which is funny because you think it wouldn’t be the case. But at least in rise turtles version they allow April to feel more of sister than romance interest. Which made her interactions with turtles more entertaining especially Donnie. They are quite a fun duo to watch after the disaster twins of course.
@@oraclemirai Interesting I would had love to see this but too bad the show got cancel and never go to finish there seven or eight seasons they was promise.
The fact that you see the problem with Gen Z parenting makes me so happy. I know you are a loooonnnnnng way away from being a mother or even having a mate to make you one but if/when you ever do, you’ll be a better mother than most. As for my opinion on Donnie, this may or may not change depending on what you say in part 2 but I think Donnie is a tragic case of a good person cursed with a bad obsession and/or a dark side he either can’t or won’t control. Some otherwise very nice even heroic people in history have had impulses or urges that they either couldn’t control because of some undiagnosed mental illness or they could but they refused to try because they really wanted something and/or someone. It’s sorta similar to Goten Black at least in the beginning of your story, he was a mostly very sweet and loving child and he knew what Zamasu was having him do was wrong but he did it all anyway because he really wants revenge against Goku by any means necessary, despite his heart and at least half his brain telling him to stop he’s gonna do whatever Zamasu and umibozu tell him to no matter how much evil and cruel things they make him do because he craves vengeance so much
I agree with these views, especially with the crush rejecting him. We've all had the same experience and it was a valuable lesson to learn, April and Donnie have a good relationship as friends if not a couple, it's important for him to understand that as well.
Donnie is a victim of bad writing and there are some moments im like oh well that was cringe and others where i was like "wait...isnt that....like.....stalking..." or "thats not how this works you are being a creep" he is a geek with no social skills and a creep he is both and imma be honest i didnt watch 2012 until like 2020 cause as like a 4 year old i was introduced with the bee episode where everyone is possessed
Looking back, 2012 really was screwed by the writers' poor foresight. While I don't exactly mind April, Karai, and Casey being aged down to teens, the romances weren't the best idea. I do adore concepts from 2012, but I can't really call it all that good. TMNT 2003 still holds the crown to this day, and it is a heavy one to bear.
@Satansdaughter666-n7b Nah, Mordecai is a simp but it wasn't this level of bad imo. Yes even if he killed Rigby, literally everybody from the park has tried killing Rigby. Skips, Muscle Man, Benson- ig not High Five Ghost and Pops, but they're like the only nicest people there. Rigby has put his and Mordecai's lives and everyone else in the park's lives in danger countless times for stupid reasons, even before Mordecai heatedly killed him. Rigby has even killed himself multiple times, Rigby just dies and or almost dies a lot in that show lmao.
@playerback7722 Leo had a crush on his sister and even if people say it's just his adopted sister it's still weird like if someone was adopted into your family that's supposed to be your family 💀💀 Donnie was just a infinity level simp💀💀
It’s actually makes me kinda upset. When Donnie is allowed to be a scientist, he actually kinda fun. He can can very smart and resourceful and always trying to find a logical way out. He can also be very kinda of a sarcastic smart ass , which reminds me a little bit of Hiccup Haddock from HTTYD. When he starts his “attempts” to win April over and ends up in a love triangle with Casey, it becomes not only annoying, but also kind of uncomfortable.
The "April hates the Turtles" arc could have been handled much better. Donnie (or any of the Turtles) following April / checking up on her could have made a lot more sense if written better. April has been attacked by the Foot Clan before, and Karai knows she's a regular at Murakami's. It's even a plot point when Karai interrogates Murakami for information. It makes sense for somebody to keep an eye on her to make sure she's okay. Given April hates the Turtles at the start of Season 2, having any of them (especially Donnie) outright going up to her may make things or worse (because the writers love meaningless conflict). Having them follow her from the shadows (while not the most moral option) is something I can see them doing. The problem is that Donnie's crush influences all of his actions and he's the only one to check up on her. It feels a lot less like he's trying to protect her and more like he just wants to see her face from afar. And given his obsession leads to Mutagen Man attacking April, it makes him look even worse. If you remove Donnie's crush, all of his interactions with April would seem more wholesome (because he would simply care about his first human friend) rather than creepy. One thing I do dislike about April's writing is how much she kisses Donnie. You can definitely make the argument some of them are platonic kisses, but depending on the episode April is aware of Donnie's crush, so she should realistically understand it's going to encourage him (Not blaming April, just the writing). But the writers can't decide if she's oblivious, creeped out by him, or in love with him. April kissing him is that age-old trope where female characters will kiss the male character as shipping fuel, but kissing should only be saved if you're in an actual relationship, not for someone you're still just friends with and not dating. The writers did not understand how to write a believable romance. Donnie gets more blame than April does with the ship's problems, and for good reason. Donnie's behavior is almost consistently creepy, while April's behavior depends on who's writing the episode. That's probably why fans say she can't make up her mind, because the writers certainly couldn't.
@@howieedits9426 Exactly even the people who worked on the show said they didn't like Donnie and April's relationship and they didn't like April kissing him since she didn't like him. Even the people who worked on the show hated the ship and that says something
@Satansdaughter666-n7b Do you have a source on that? I've heard people say that there was a conflict between the writers on who April should be with, but I never saw a source for that. I had assumed Donnie won out since Season 5's When Worlds Collide implies that they're dating. That episode has Raph missing his gf Mona Lisa and goes to hang out with his brothers, but they're all too busy hanging out with their love interests (with Mikey even saying he's in a long distance relationship with Renet). And there's that Ice Cream Kitty music video has April kissing Donnie on the lips again. And the deleted version of that kiss shows the two passionately leaping into each other's arms first before they disappear offscreen.
@howieedits9426 Its on a short from the official TMNT show of one of the creators getting asked if he thinks Donnie and April should be together. I could try and find it if you want 👍

This is quite an interesting subject to discuss. I believe both Donnie and April are in the wrong and play some parts in contributing to the problem at end of day. But who I really blame is the writers and creators for mishandling in addressing these problems when came to both of these characters. When come to April the creators and writers should had give her more of spotlight outside of turtles so we as audience could get a look at her inside thoughts and better understanding of her character. Also, they should allow April to set boundaries towards Donnie and casey when she felt uncomfortable and reject their offerings. Instead of sitting there ignoring it and not saying anything. Seriously it okay to say no and no one should ever feel force into something especially if you feel uncomfortable in that situation including the person behavior and actions. Now Donnie other hand need to learn how to respect people boundaries instead of ignoring it and getting upset. I remember when April wasn’t hanging out with turtles anymore because of dad mutant situation. Donnie have nerves to go after looking for her and then got upset when he caught her hanging out with Casey. Like Donnie my man she ask you to stay away from her and give her some space. Secondly she can hang out with other people outside of you and your brothers. She has a life before she met you and still has one now. I thought Donnie was completely wrong for getting jealous of April for living her life and hangout with other people especially her own species. Which she should if we being honest since she hasn’t in long time from interacting with the turtles. In that moment Donnie came off as a hypocrites, possessive, and selfish towards April wanting to live her life and hangout with other people outside of him. Literally she deserves to live her life. April is not your property Donnie and you don’t own her. April life doesn’t cater to you Donnie. So yeah i feel both Donnie and April play a role in this mess of situations. But true blame should go to witers and creators for how they handle these problems. They should had made it clear between Donnie and April instead of continuing it for rest of the series. It was just dreadful and annoying to watch. There goes my two cents with this one sided relationship of a mess between April and Donnie.

Great video about Donnie behavior btw. I’ve been rewatching the show and you really start to notice how creepy he is towards her obsessive. He really pissed me of when Raphael was missing and his main concern was April and Casey being together🤬 This type of behavior shouldn’t be romanticized or seen as a good thing! I don't agree with the whole "2012 Donnie stays the same throughout all seasons". Yes, he doesn't particularly changes into completely different character, but neither do the others. Donnie kept his charming personality but he grew up as a fighter and a scientist. If we remember, in season 1 he had no idea how to hack Kraang technology but in season 4 he managed to fix the Fugitoid and get appreciation from him that Donnie is a thousand years ahead of any other Earthlings in basic cosmic science. In season 1 he relied heavily on gadgets, was pretty rusty with his moves and was hating his Bo staff. In season 4 however, he's using all of tech but also can be on par against guys like Bebop and Fishface in terms of flexibility, not to mention he uses his staff a lot and could've easily stabbed Shredder's heart with it.
Ahhh yeah a new video to see right on Christmas...OHH yeah Also speaking if Donnie is a geek or a creep I would say that Donnie is both Can't wait to see this aayee
If I'm to be honest even as someone who grew up with the 2012 series and will always have a soft spot for it, I think out of the main story driven tmnt shows (I don't really count 87 since it was more focused on the comedy rather then the plot) 2012 was the most flawed with it's writing in my opinion, especially when with came to the romance On paper I'm actually not against the idea of having Donnie and April, but the way they handled it absolutely kneecaps their characters and relationships. With Donnie specifically I've seen some argue that because Donnie was raised in the sewers with no contact with humans, that's why he acts the way he does towards with April. While that would definitely explain it, it doesn't excuse just how creepy and possessive he is towards April, and how he doesn't really grow and realise just how unhealthy he is being with his crush. When they do have that opportunity in A Foot Too Big to have Donnie actually finally mature, the writers shot themselves in the foot by having April kiss him at the end and he goes back to crushing on her (tho it's not as extreme as the first 2 seasons) Also I'm not the first to point this out but Shadder's whole backstory in this series is how he was in love with Splinter's wife, and how it was this jealously that would eventually lead to him killing her. I'm not saying that Donnie or Casey would actually go as far as to kill April, but at no point does any of the other characters point out that Donnie is basically acting the same way Shredder did. Not even Splinter, who you'd think would be the first person to try and stop it from escalating
I think hes both. Hes not a bad person, hes a sweet and caring guy, he just also has a very obsessive nature. His character probably has OCD. Or he could just be obsessed w April cause she was the first girl he ever saw and interacted with. For a lil while she was the only woman in his life. I think he DOES have OCD tho.
He's a boring cardboard. At least 2012 Donnie actually got episodes revolving about his personal problems rather than just tossing him in another dimension or alternative reality future with no character deep dive.
🤷♀I mean spending the first 15 years of your life locked away in a sewer, your social skills are definitely gonna be poor. Not to mention the large amount of traumatic events both him, his brothers and April went through which would only make their mental states worse😖. Besides most of the supposed creepy behavior is more comedic, so id call him a geek. Him and April end up cute as they developed by the end of the show, and it seems pretty accurate to corny teenage drama. Let’s just be thankful he’s not a Marinette Dupain Cheng.😅
I mean at first I love this character when I was younger back in 2012 but now that I’m an adult, I thought he was 50-50 all right I mean it’s sad to say that 2012 Donnie is no longer one of my favorite Donnie’s anymore. I mean if he had better writing and characterization maybe I would like them and maybe he would be my favorite Donnie I’m in granted I get it Donnie. He’s still a teenager at the age of 15 and he only like three or five more years in this time so maybe even have to ended. Maybe he’s an adult. I’m pretty sure he’ll probably finally learned his lesson. And maybe he’ll learn that April is not worth it or his crush is not worth it I mean think about it if the show had a six season and they gave Donnie a character to arc would not make it feel better. now granted season three they did try to did that but they failed horribly.
Donnie in the 2K12 series is a stalker and a creep. Basically because he sucks at talking to girls. He should have never had feelings for April because he’s just a loser
I'm gonna be honest I think Leo and April will be a better pairing I shipped them before Mutant Mayhem came out They have a lot more moments that I can consider actually pretty sweet. Season 4 ecpsically grew their chemistry! Not to mention, if you seen screenshots of Leo and April moments out of context, they look so romantic 😭❤️
They come off more like a sibling dynamic to me personally, HOWEVER- I can kinda see it. Especially with that episode where April couldn't see and Leo's leg was busted.
I'm not defending his actions but I think he doesn't know any better or much about socializing since he's lived in the sewers his whole life. And stuff like taking secret pictures of your crush is what normal high schoolers do so he's mostly acting like a normal teenager, not that, that makes it any better. Also April did sexually harasses him multiple times like the Bigfoot episode where she forced herself onto him and kissed him while he was trying to explain he was gonna get over her and he didn't kiss back. And like heartstopper explains just because you have a crush on them doesn't give them permission to kiss you if they feel like it. 👍
You do know taking a picture of someone without their permission can be considered a felony or stalking right? In fact, Donnie can be charged with a felony for that AND for the times he stalked april
@@trunksetabriefs691 As I said I'm not defending his actions and I think their weird and April has hugged him many times after he saved her but when he hugs her after she saved him that's wrong? She gets away with these things cuz she's a female. And April also tried to set the Bigfoot up with Donnie knowing that the Bigfoot was WAY to old for a FIFTHTEEN year old boy. April has sexually harassed and led Donnie on when she clearly likes Casey like every version and even abuses Donnie sometimes.
He does it it’s wrong because she’s UNCOMFORTABLE with it. Not because of gender. She hugs him and he’s COMFORTABLE with it. The issue is she doesn’t like the group hugs and they don’t stop. Also Bigfoot being a woman is a theory like how Mona Lisa is a woman is, there’s no clear proof of that.

Befor Video- He's a creepy geek
After Video-.....still a creepy geek
Both. His both.
Ahhh yeah a new video to see right on Christmas...OHH yeah
Also speaking if Donnie is a geek or a creep I would say that Donnie is both
Can't wait to see this aayee
If I'm to be honest even as someone who grew up with the 2012 series and will always have a soft spot for it, I think out of the main story driven tmnt shows (I don't really count 87 since it was more focused on the comedy rather then the plot) 2012 was the most flawed with it's writing in my opinion, especially when with came to the romance
On paper I'm actually not against the idea of having Donnie and April, but the way they handled it absolutely kneecaps their characters and relationships. When they do have that opportunity in A Foot Too Big to have Donnie actually finally mature, the writers shot themselves in the foot by having April kiss him at the end and he goes back to crushing on her (tho it's not as extreme as the first 2 seasons)
Also I'm not the first to point this out but Shadder's whole backstory in this series is how he was in love with Splinter's wife, and how it was this jealously that would eventually lead to him killing her. I'm not saying that Donnie or Casey would actually go as far as to kill April, but at no point does any of the other characters point out that Donnie is basically acting the same way Shredder did. Not even Splinter, who you'd think would be the first person to try and stop it from escalating
Why does Donnie like April again?
Because she's pretty, that's it
She's the first and only girl he'd ever seen irl.
Donnie in 2003 it's better.
I agree.
He's a boring cardboard. At least 2012 Donnie actually got episodes revolving about his personal problems rather than just tossing him in another dimension or alternative reality future with no character deep dive.
But he wasn't no simp
Both obviously
🤷♀I mean spending the first 15 years of your life locked away in a sewer, your social skills are definitely gonna be poor. Not to mention the large amount of traumatic events both him, his brothers and April went through which would only make their mental states worse😖. Besides most of the supposed creepy behavior is more comedic, so id call him a geek. Him and April end up cute as they developed by the end of the show, and it seems pretty accurate to corny teenage drama.
Let’s just be thankful he’s not a Marinette Dupain Cheng.😅
The correct answer is YES
So part 2 is before or after new years evening?
Why do I feel like you are gonna go wild and accidentally go SSJ2?
SSJ3 most likely.
Yeah Marinette's behavior only got worse. What's more the show bent over backwards to justify it which was gross.
What's going on
Definitely a creep
Donnie in the 2K12 series is a stalker and a creep. Basically because he sucks at talking to girls. He should have never had feelings for April because he’s just a loser
I'm gonna be honest
I think Leo and April will be a better pairing
I shipped them before Mutant Mayhem came out
They have a lot more moments that I can consider actually pretty sweet.
Also Donnie has also sexually harassed April too by giving her unwanted hugs with Casey
Also there’s no proof that Bigfoot is an adult, that’s a theory like how people think Mona is an adult.
