Jr was intentionally going to be Cassandra from a different universe and i believe much older too, the idea seemed to complicated and nick offered to just retcon Cassandra and make jr the official Casey which they refuse saying " our Cassandra is our Casey " so jr became her son in the future so both can co-exist. Cassandra cameo was thrown in the last minute as a treat to the fans since they more than likely would've asked about her. If i was on the writing team, i would've made jr into renet , she would be Cassandra's daughter as she grew up watching the mad dogs battling the krang, seeing each of them dying from them as she becomes the last thread of hope of having a good future, Cassandra could still have a role in it, feeling shes not exactly apart of the team due to her involvement with the foot and being the one that super mortified seeing the foot turned into mindless zombies I even had my own retcon where jr isnt her son by blood as she adopted him, and he ends up becoming a little brother since she finds it uncomfortable to be the mother of someone whos like a year younger than her, he also adopts the name " arnold " since he felt it fitted him more.
Great ranking! I think the only placement I would change is swapping 1990s and 2012 - of course 1990 Casey has a massive disadvantage in terms of screentime, but his presence is delightful and I'm such a sucker for that himbo Casey characterization that he's right below 2003 Casey for me. I know you’ve only read the beginning of the Mirage comic (and I do agree with the analysis of '87 Casey being similar based just on the very few appearances he'd had in the comic up to 1989), but throughout the comic I think Casey does have a fantastic story and evolution that I won't spoil here, but it does make Mirage Casey my personal favorite take on the character (the only Mirage variant to hold such a position for me).

It's pretty hard for me to pick since I love every single Casey, especially Rise version, he really needs a hug and a nice full on buffet, but 1990 and 2012 are the best Caseys for me. 1990 one because... Well, it's movie Casey, everybody loves him and it's deserved. Every scene with him is legendary and I'm glad people are becoming kinder to TMNT 3, him teaching the royal guard hockey is hilarious. People are honestly exaggerating love triangle plot in regards of 2012 Casey. I know it was important part of season 2 but that's not the entire purpose of this character. I like his relationship with Raph, their friendship is much more fleshed out than in 2003 series. I like his engineering skills. Many people forget that Casey is a car savvy on par with Donnie, this is why Race with the Demon is one of my favorite 2012 Casey episodes. It's the only on-screen Casey version so far that had the guts to face against Shredder. And he even managed to survive rather well even though it was a suicide. I'm not even talking how he held pretty good on his own against Tiger Claw. Oh, and the gadgets. Ciro and Brandon are geniuses. I love all these homemade devices Casey has, I wish more versions can also combine glove with the taser like as if you're playing Dead Rising games. Overall, I think 2012 Casey deserves more love despite season 5 treating him dirty and Josh Peck did absolutely amazing job voicing him.
13:14 Why does something similar happen in my personal Tmnt version aswell 😭 I even had like a whole sorta "episode" in my mind where Leo is babysitting Caseys 8 year old sister, in this version named Annie, while Casey is away with the others doing stuff that would make it a filler episode if not for the Babysitting stuff. Its mostly meant to be where A Transfem leo arc really comes into play. While Babysitting, Annie keeps calling Leo "Mrs Peacock" for reasons I so far have onpy chalked up to 8 year old shenanigans. Annie puts Leo's mask tails into a bow, paints his nail, and does other things to him that would be considered feminine. Its that moment where Leo's egg finally cracks as she realizes "Wait, Hold up, I think I feel more comfortable being a lady." Also throughout the Episode, Leo trains Annie how to fight with swords (using fake ones, ofc).Eventually later in the episode, some Foot soldiers break into Caseys home having spotted Leo there. Kinda without thinking, Leo hands Annie one of his Katana and they manage to beat the foot soldiers (This part is mostly meant for comedy and buildup for the ending). Well, Casey arrives right after the fight ended to see Annie holding a sword, passed out foot soldiers everywhere, and the living room a complete mess. Safe to say, Leo doesnt babysit until the next Season. Funny thing is this was inspired by the same scene yours was lol

My favorite will always be 2003, I always felt he had the most depth and character growth of all the incarnations. But the original movie is a close second, then 87 and 2012 are tied. I'm hoping that someday they can give him a new story that works for him as well as 03 did
I love 2012’s Casey design so much I made a crappy cosplay of it when I was a kid for comic con I remember it was a dollar store pirate skull mask that my father put masking tape over it because we couldn’t find a hockey mask and black hoodie with one black glove and one red
in regards to 2012 Casey, I think that version of him has my favorite design for the character. I really enjoy how this version leans into the "makeshift vigilante" aspect by having make a costume, turn hockey pads & such into shielding or weapons, and etc. while his standard look is classic compared to the other major tmnt characters can change up their designs (or by simply changes between shows art styles) it's neat to see him get more unique flair once in awhile
I never saw the 80's Casey Jones until on RUclips. I saw episodes of the 80s show when I was a kid, 94 baby, so I didn't realize they had a version. The 1990 is one of my favorites because I grew up with that one. He can be rude but he had a genuine heart to help the turtles and April. 2003 is my other favorite Casey. I actually got to grow up with this one and see how he developed. I loved how he had a great relationship with everyone. 2012 Casey and April got on my nerves. I have yet to see Rise outside of RUclips but the Jones family seems cool.
I'm really hoping if/when Casey shows up in Mutant Mayhem they can just be able to sit with the best of the best, Casey is my favorite character in TMNT so I'm excited for what new they can bring to the table while capturing the hockey vigilante dumbass we all love

I'm very interested in seeing how you rank Shredder when the time comes, especially since 2003 has 4 Shredders (Ch'rell, Karai, Tengu, and Cyber). A lot of people say 2003 has 3 Shredders, but they forget Karai was the Shredder too. Speaking of queer representation, I know a lot of people will view Leonardo (2003 and Rise especially) as queer, even if the creators never intended or confirmed it.

It might also be an indirect resource to 2003 Leorai fans, since Usagi brings out the best in Leo and they actually seem close in age in comparison to Leo and Karai.
87 will always be my favorite until the end of time he just made me laugh and he had a good character dynamic with the others being so unhinged and crazy even compared to the aliens,mutants, and other worldy entities Was disappointed in rise for not having Cassandra be in the movie and replacing her she was the only thing I liked from the series I was so mad at what they did I didn't even watch the movie

This was a pretty cool video but I don't think Rottmnt Casey Jr. is supposed to be a 'Casey' as while he may resemble other Casey's I think that was more of an Easter egg for the fans. To me Casey Jr. is his own original character.

While I absolutely adore Casey Jr (and tbf that’s mostly due to his interpretation in Cass’ Apocalypse Series on tumblr) I agree that he really doesn’t read as a Casey Jones, especially in comparison to Cassandra. I hope we can get to see more of her in her Casey Jones role in later Rise material if/when it comes out. Also you’re right. Non-binary Casey Jones IS cool as fuck.

You know I always get pretty upset when I see people say that rise's Casey Junior is the Casey Jones of rise like no??? Of anything he's an alternate version of Shadow or Casey Marie, Cassandra is pretty firmly the Casey Jones of rise to me. (Cassandra Jones my beloved I wish we saw more of you after you left the foot)
Clearly 2003 Casey but i dont like how they downplay his agilty and combat skills because he was keeping with Raph in 1x7 "The way of Invisiblity" but when the tricerations invading earth in the season 3 opener, he was a bumbling fool compared to Splinter and April who got a lot of ninja training offscreen saving the turtles and fugitoid.
This is a pretty solid ranking. There are some points I disagree with, but you make some very solid cases. I also really like your version of Casey. Respect the fact that you made them nonbinary. Funnily enough, after watch the body swap episode of 2012, I got my own trans head cannon for Casey where he goes by he/her pronouns. Elias Koteas and Marc Thompson are the best Casey Jones in my opinion (with an honorable mention to Hilarion Banks who played Casey Jones in the Casey Jones fan film I highly recommend).

Technically speaking the 2007 movie Turtles are part of the original trilogy but there's almost no mention of this in the movie itself & I only found this out after watching a review of said movie. I don't get why the 2007 movie never made it clear that these are the original movie Turtles. I liked Cassandra too bad Season 2 was drastically cut which also cut much of her story as well as Mikey's
Yeah it’s kind of a situation where it was originally intended to be the same continuity but it wasn’t super explicitly established as such and it was sort of retconned by Peter Laird as well, so honestly I see it as you can interpret them as the same or separate, either is correct. I personally see them as separate due to the inconsistencies between the two iterations, but it’s not WRONG to see 2007 as part of that same universe :P
You know I always interpret Casey Jones Junior from Rise as a gender swapped Shadow. Shadow is April and Casey's daughter, I think her actual name is Casey Marie? I sadly don't know much more than that but I firmly believe Rise movie Casey as a future child should Not be a 'Casey Jones' but a 'Shadow Jones'.

The joke behind the nickname was that supposedly she was April's little shadow?...Then again I got that info through osmosis from the fandom, but having not personally read any of the comics I'll take your word for it. My case still stands! Rise movie Casey ain't no Casey Jones! He should just be the gender swapped kid Jones!
2. You can cross reference Casey Jr's reveal as the originally intended casey jones from the old turtle den's youtube channel. They made a video about Rise of the TMNT leaks that all turned out to be accurate. Also, casey's name and mask are the two most defining things about the character besides their unhinged behavior lol. Every TMNT character in this universe was fundamentally changed from how we recognize them in terms of their personalities so to hold it against casey jr this harshly is a tad unfair in my opinion. Rise is all about family, and casey jr falls right in line with his other variants by having dealt with traumatic loss of his family before he meets the turtles. He moves the plot forward, but he's not a plot device. The story doesn't objectify him. I don't see him as easily replaceable, and I think it's really easy to question his existence simply just because cassandra came first in the story's sequencing. I could go on but i don't think it's gonna get us anywhere lmao.
3. 2007 in general only works for me when i view it as TMNT anthology. General canon that I can apply to any character's lore and personality without disturbing continuity. That being said this is the most emotionally mature version of casey in any universe and that's not appreciated enough.
4. No cassandra did not get a fair shake, and I don't like that. However, what we got is what we got and that being said the reveal of her saying her name is carrying 90% of what makes her Casey jones. 5% goes to her unhinged personality which pushes beyond that point of parody into flanderization in context of her being Casey. The other 5% is that one scene in her bedroom where she's sitting amongst sports equipment and a hockey poster. I like cassandra but she's a textbook example of them trying too hard to change things in Rise which ultimately lead to the shows downfall in the first place. We'll never know what the story was truly intended to look like but if the pacing of season 1 is any indication I can't imagine they would have handled her reveal any better if they did have 3 full seasons instead of the 1.5 we got. I think Rise is fine with 2 Caseys because the problems with those characters stems from Rise's Philosophy and approach as a show, not because both characters exist in the same space trying to be the same character. Hope that made sense
5. 87 Casey just feels like a bare bones interpretation of his mirage counterpart. 87 went out of its way to change so much from the comics that i wanted a more original take on Casey. Also he's not in the show enough very annoying.
Hot take: 2003 Casey is vastly overrated. Now, everybody calm down. I like this doofus, but I feel like the show did him really dirty after season 1 when he basically became a background character just like April. His whole purpose reduced to being April's boyfriend and he rarely fought alongside the Turtles. Hell, he was just left in the lair in season 5 when even Stockman and Chaplin put up a fight. Not to mention, he was like REALLY annoyingly dumb sometimes just to be the butt of a joke. Honestly, I feel like 2003 Casey was at his best in season 1 and season 7 other than that he just felt like a Launchpad from 2017 Ducktales.

Before sharing personal thoughts, sweet cosplay, 2012 Casey outfit is one of my favorite along with IDW comics one.
IDW Casey is underrated if you ask me he dad hun was a jerk and stuff still casey care about him at the end of his life

Baxter Stockman: IDW comics
Krang: IDW
Shredder: strong tie between 2012 show and IDW, they're just so good in their own ways
This was a pretty cool video but I don't think Rottmnt Casey Jr. is supposed to be a 'Casey' as while he may resemble other Casey's I think that was more of an Easter egg for the fans. To me Casey Jr. is his own original character.
That’s how I’ve always seen him, but so many people refer to him as Rise’s Casey and like I said, I think was the original intention with the character in the first place (which is a little silly imo)
@torisaursky Yeah making him the official Rottmnt Casey is kinda silly. I hope Rottmnt comes back so we can learn more about him as his story and circumstances are intriguing. Being around people who are versions of the people he has known his whole life but who don't know him.😔

While I absolutely adore Casey Jr (and tbf that’s mostly due to his interpretation in Cass’ Apocalypse Series on tumblr) I agree that he really doesn’t read as a Casey Jones, especially in comparison to Cassandra. I hope we can get to see more of her in her Casey Jones role in later Rise material if/when it comes out.
Also you’re right. Non-binary Casey Jones IS cool as fuck.

You know I always get pretty upset when I see people say that rise's Casey Junior is the Casey Jones of rise like no??? Of anything he's an alternate version of Shadow or Casey Marie, Cassandra is pretty firmly the Casey Jones of rise to me. (Cassandra Jones my beloved I wish we saw more of you after you left the foot)

Clearly 2003 Casey but i dont like how they downplay his agilty and combat skills because he was keeping with Raph in 1x7 "The way of Invisiblity" but when the tricerations invading earth in the season 3 opener, he was a bumbling fool compared to Splinter and April who got a lot of ninja training offscreen saving the turtles and fugitoid.

This is a pretty solid ranking. There are some points I disagree with, but you make some very solid cases. I also really like your version of Casey. Respect the fact that you made them nonbinary. Funnily enough, after watch the body swap episode of 2012, I got my own trans head cannon for Casey where he goes by he/her pronouns. I also really like the fact that you are playing with the ages of the turtles in your version too. I would love to learn more about your TMNT AU. I would like to know about what some of the villains are like.

Elias Koteas and Marc Thompson are the best Casey Jones in my opinion (with an honorable mention to Hilarion Banks who played Casey Jones in the Casey Jones fan film I highly recommend).

Heck yeah! Ngl i could never get into 2012 series so my ranking is flawed. Something about how the voice acting direction irked me. But i know if i made it through season one i could manage it. Also i grew up with drake and Josh so josh peck as casey is gonna take getting used to. My ranking usually includes comics but ill forgo it for this oke. Cassandra is #1, 03 is #2, 90s is #3, casey jr is #4, 2012 is #5, 80s cartoon is #6 and cop casey only makes the list bc his mask was on clearance at spirit halloween when i worked there so his was my first casey mask and it could be worn with glasses. Technically speaking the 2007 movie Turtles are part of the original trilogy but there's almost no mention of this in the movie itself & I only found this out after watching a review of said movie. I don't get why the 2007 movie never made it clear that these are the original movie Turtles. I liked Cassandra too bad Season 2 was drastically cut which also cut much of her story as well as Mikey's
Yeah it’s kind of a situation where it was originally intended to be the same continuity but it wasn’t super explicitly established as such and it was sort of retconned by Peter Laird as well, so honestly I see it as you can interpret them as the same or separate, either is correct.
I personally see them as separate due to the inconsistencies between the two iterations, but it’s not WRONG to see 2007 as part of that same universe :P

You know I always interpret Casey Jones Junior from Rise as a gender swapped Shadow. Shadow is April and Casey's daughter, I think her actual name is Casey Marie? I sadly don't know much more than that but I firmly believe Rise movie Casey as a future child should Not be a 'Casey Jones' but a 'Shadow Jones'.
Shadow I believe is from Mirage, Casey Marie is from The Last Ronin

The joke behind the nickname was that supposedly she was April's little shadow?...Then again I got that info through osmosis from the fandom, but having not personally read any of the comics I'll take your word for it. My case still stands! Rise movie Casey ain't no Casey Jones! He should just be the gender swapped kid Jones!

Ok opinions incoming: (I'm just gonna go in order of your ranking)
1. Copaganda Casey belongs in the hole. That's it that's my whole take.
2. You can cross reference Casey Jr's reveal as the originally intended casey jones from the old turtle den's youtube channel. They made a video about Rise of the TMNT leaks that all turned out to be accurate. Also, casey's name and mask are the two most defining things about the character besides their unhinged behavior lol. Every TMNT character in this universe was fundamentally changed from how we recognize them in terms of their personalities so to hold it against casey jr this harshly is a tad unfair in my opinion. Rise is all about family, and casey jr falls right in line with his other variants by having dealt with traumatic loss of his family before he meets the turtles. He moves the plot forward, but he's not a plot device. The story doesn't objectify him. I don't see him as easily replaceable, and I think it's really easy to question his existence simply just because cassandra came first in the story's sequencing. I could go on but i don't think it's gonna get us anywhere lmao.
3. 2007 in general only works for me when i view it as TMNT anthology. General canon that I can apply to any character's lore and personality without disturbing continuity. That being said this is the most emotionally mature version of casey in any universe and that's not appreciated enough.
4. No cassandra did not get a fair shake, and I don't like that. However, what we got is what we got and that being said the reveal of her saying her name is carrying 90% of what makes her Casey jones. 5% goes to her unhinged personality which pushes beyond that point of parody into flanderization in context of her being Casey. The other 5% is that one scene in her bedroom where she's sitting amongst sports equipment and a hockey poster. I like cassandra but she's a textbook example of them trying too hard to change things in Rise which ultimately lead to the shows downfall in the first place. We'll never know what the story was truly intended to look like but if the pacing of season 1 is any indication I can't imagine they would have handled her reveal any better if they did have 3 full seasons instead of the 1.5 we got.
I think Rise is fine with 2 Caseys because the problems with those characters stems from Rise's Philosophy and approach as a show, not because both characters exist in the same space trying to be the same character. Hope that made sense
5. 87 Casey just feels like a bare bones interpretation of his mirage counterpart. 87 went out of its way to change so much from the comics that i wanted a more original take on Casey. Also he's not in the show enough very annoying.
Hot take: 2003 Casey is vastly overrated. Now, everybody calm down.
I like this doofus, but I feel like the show did him really dirty after season 1 when he basically became a background character just like April. His whole purpose reduced to being April's boyfriend and he rarely fought alongside the Turtles. Hell, he was just left in the lair in season 5 when even Stockman and Chaplin put up a fight.
Not to mention, he was like REALLY annoyingly dumb sometimes just to be the butt of a joke.
Honestly, I feel like 2003 Casey was at his best in season 1 and season 7 other than that he just felt like a Launchpad from 2017 Ducktales.
Yeah I don’t disagree that he became more of a background character later in the show (ESPECIALLY Season 5) which is really unfortunate :/
Launchpad had story and took down villains and genuinely helped other characters grow
