- Everyone is talking about Nikola Jokic and his ridiculous playoff performance
The circus 3 pointers, his insane court vision and his wilt chamberlain like stat lines.
But just how good is the Joker 2023 playoff run actually?
Better than Dirk Nowitzki in 2011? Better than LeBron James in 2018 ?
That would be crazy!
Or is it possible that his run is just NBA media hype to get more eyeballs on a finals series that casuals wouldn’t otherwise watch?

Jokic is very likely going to finish the playoffs leading in Points, Rebounds AND Assists...first time in history that has happened.
Culls finish leading in 4 or maybe 5 cats
The best basketball player of all time.
Olajuwon at age 23 lead the entire 86' playoffs in points, rebounds, and blocks against the defending champ Showtime Lakers and the Celtics that swept Jordan that year.
For that to happen, Jokic has to score at least the same amount of points as Butler in Game 5. If Butler outscores The Joker by 2 points in Game 5, he will take the lead in total points this postseason.

How Embiid got an MVP award this season is beyond me. Embiid had a great regular season but not better than Jokic.
As somebody who played the game pro, understands the game, I have difficulty with with Embiid. He's very one dimensional and limited in his skillset. The playoffs exposed that. In the playoffs great players get better. Embiid doesn’t.
It was a close race but Jokic slowed down at the end.
@@rancierdiaz305 he was getting ready for an actual playoff run
Watch Embid and Jokic highlights, it's not even close...
Not to mention he sat out when it was time to settle up and play Jokic.
Embiid had a great regular season and prioritized finishing it strong. Joker and the Nuggets slowed down once they effectively locked up the #1 seed.
Embiid deserved it.
The man had 10 triple doubles in this run. 10. He's light years ahead rhe best player on the planet right now.
Shocking what Jokic can do when his team is finally healthy, i swear people kept writing this dude off 😑
look what they mock us after the nuggets drop 2nd round and 1st round with player like Austin Rivers, Will Barton, and Campazzo -__- look at what happen when the healthy nuggets defeat ur healthy team
There will always be people who gonna hate which is absolutely normal. But as a Serbian im so proud of what this man does on the court in the biggest league in the world. Our MVP Nikola The Joker Jokic!
Being a lakers fan and a huge Jimmy butler fan, this man is destroying my mental health just torching my boys. I hate it soooooo much but it’s just incredible how good he is
If Jokic and the Nuggets had already been to the Finals, I might be rooting for Butler and the Heat. But I want Jokic and the Nuggets to get that ring. I want Jimmy to get one too, but maybe next year.

Jokic is currently the most dominant player. Why does it have to be a goat discussion all the time. So boring.
@@ClumsyRoot People who really enjoy basketball, dont. If you want measurement, you look at who wins at the end.
Weak ass people need these superhero cliches so they can identify with them.
@@Strawdozz Wrong - If you look who wins at the end, then I assume you believe Robert Horry is better than Charles Barkley and Karl Malone? Dirk only got one, is Horry better than him? better than Tim Duncan? A Team wins a championship. Individual player greatness has nothing to do with how many championships they got. I do agree that ranking them is stupid, but LeBron James proved long time ago that he is a better player than Michael Jordan ever was.
@@jensenat Thats my point exactly. Teams win.
I cant agree with your last statement. Jordan single-handedly transformed the NBA. Then came Kobe and Lebron: they were born into this. None of them are very original, both are fantastic players of course. So I value Lebron less than Jordan. Also, prime Jordan would beat prime Lebron, maybe even one on one, definitely in a team. Different level of toughness, Lebron would be flopping and crying.
Curry was a game changer, too, even though I dont like what he did.
@@Strawdozz Jordan was the best player on the best team. Are we gonna continue pretending Scottie Pippen (one of the top SF ever), Dennis Rodman (best rebounder of the 90's), Steve Kerr (over 50% three point machine), Tony Kukoc (great all around player) Phil Jackson (one of the best coach ever) had nothing to do with the Bull's success? Also, it is time to stop pretending LeBron couldn't play in the 90's. Seriously, that argument is getting old. He is a 6'8" 260 beast. LeBron could easily play and dominate in any basketball era. I think is hard to rank players from different eras into the top whatever, but if we must, LeBron has done more with less and for way longer than Jordan ever did.
@@jensenat Sure it was a very good team with a very good coach. But Dwade was great, too.
Lebron was born into a certain era and indeed dominated it. Jordan changed the game. For me, thats a different level of greatness.
But I hear you. For me goat is not the most important question. There was that one ring that Lebron got by sheer will. His team was not ready and he made it happen. I respect that.
I dont really like his media personality, but it does not have to do much with his basketball. Overall, there are better stories for me to embrace. Like Butler, say.
Great stats for the Jokic this finals but what is more heartwarming is the humility. Taking time to shake the Heat players after the Nuggets became champions!❤
You also have to look beyond stats. His intelligence without the ball, the way he screens... Hard to quantify but makes a big difference.
This has been a special basket ball year. (1) awesome performance of Caitlin Clark and the Iowa State Buckeyes, (2) Stephen Curry and game seven against the Sacramento Kings and finally Jokic and the Denver nuggets showcasing their talent in the NBA finals. It does not get any better than that.
Good job Henry.
I would like to have seen the numbers comparing other great players in table form.
I just can’t decide man between Heat and Denver I want the heat to win from the 8th seed but jokic also deserves the title with is unfathomable play off run
Its great to see great defense and great team offense.
Man what happened to KAwhi! He's only 31, Yeah some injuries but I feel like he should be better. And yeah Jokic is a GOD.
Jokic is one of the best to have ever played basketball, and one good thing is he has Jamal Murray just like MJ had Pippen
Mvp is Most Valuable Player not the highest scorer....its the one who makes the team great....clearly Jokic
I feel like when Jokic gets a good look he never misses.
Denver is treating Miami like the 8th seed that they are.
The best basketball player of all time, plain and simple. Kudos to Jordan, Kareem, Bird, Magic, Hakeem etc.
Joker is the goat positive humble and respectful
Jokic isn't even half as good as Olajuwon or Jordan.
Don’t hate on the joker, bro Jordan and Olajuwon ain’t putting up numbers like that Jordan had like four Hall of Famer’s to help his ass out. The joker did it by himself for how long look at the stats.
@@dominicvigil983 I don't hate Jokic, he's been my favorite player in the league. Jordan didn't have 4 HOF teammates, and Jordan and Olajuwon were putting up ridiculous numbers all the time in the playoffs, against better competition too. I'm just saying Jokic is what happens when you drop a Tim Duncan type player in a league with ZERO dominant centers and overvalue the weakest stat in the game of basketball. But yeah Jokic is great
Joker isn't better than Tim Duncan
Playoffs were so easy for Jokic that he had to stat pad to keep his head in the game
Jokic's performance has been nothing short of incredible and in my opinion, he should have won the MVP but regarding the finals I want Butler and the Heat to win this championship so bad! I'll admit it, I am a sucker for underdog stories
Never winning a championship for the first time is a pretty underdog story
@@mfbobyle6771 If you look at the long time narrative than yeah, the Miami Heat have won several championships while the Denver Nuggets have none. Solely looking at these playoffs however, the Heat are easily the underdogs as they are the 8th seed with several undrafted players in their starting 5 while the Nuggets are the 1st seed with the MVP runner-up.

Nikola Jokić is leading these Playoffs in Points, Rebounds, AND Assists, the first player to ever lead ALL 3 categories.
Nikola Jokić is #2 all time in points in the paint effectiveness, AND #2 all time in 3-point percentage.

This jokic year is the best of all time imo. It’s about his passing.
The moment EMBIID avoided the game at Denver on purpose the race was over for me. Honestly his losing attitude should warn ppl to vote for him, like have you ever saw MJ backing from a challenge?

@@showtimenick824 but then you end up with a very impressing amount of finals appereances. And especially the first finals with the cavs is imho very impressing regarding the rest of the roster. I would say this also to the lost finals of AI and Jason Kids with the Nets ... or the must recent example with Butler, even when i like the composition of the Heat roster the most in this teams (that was a very good job from the Miami organisation also but without Butler they would be on the the Wemby train)
Loosing a game or a serious and part of the sport, and it doesnt mean just failure from a single participant ... If you judge it like that, all other participants needed to be blind, unathletik random dudes - so that the one player you are focussing at just can beat himself.
@@christiang5209 That Cavs roster isn't nearly as bad as you guys make it sound like. It was not championship caliber for sure but they had the 4th best defense that year which was clearly a team effort. The path to get there was a total cakewalk too. I have a RUclips channel way and I'm a hair away from making a video on this. 2 41 win teams in the first round including the Wizards without Gilbert Arenas or Caron Butler so that's an easy sweep if you have at least one superstar on your team no matter who you fill the rest of the roster out with. They also faced the Pistons but no not the same team that beat Shaq and Kobe. This Pistons team no longer had Ben Wallace and clearly his absence made a difference when LeBron never had the ability to stop on a dime and pull up from midrange nor was he a capable shooter from 3 at the time.
@@christiang5209 Loosing, unathletik, English isn't your first language is it? And no one said it's a failure from a single participant. Therefore no one's above criticism including your star player when you lose. Interesting others know who the Miami Heat are but still don’t know about Denver Nuggets? Trespass their Domain and leave a print that they’ll never forget. First time and this far into the Finals… that’s impressive!!! 🏀 😮

The point of MWP is ... to be the most useful player for the team in all segments of the game, especially if the team is first in the rankings ... and this is what Jokič has shown for the third year in a row. No one is even close to him.
Not sure how you didn't include Giannis in 2021 at the start of the video. He had the highest PER in a finals series ever and dropped 50 in a close out game. His run was legendary.
Honestly, PER doesn't matter. It's actual output that matters. In 21 games in the 2021 playoffs Giannis averaged 30.2 points, 12.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists. This year Jokic averaged 30.5 points, 13.4 rebounds and 10.1 assists in 18 playoff games. So at the end of the day his numbers were better than Giannis's.

Jokic will be immortalized but I just realized Jamal Murray ain’t even an All-Star but would out-hoop most…🤔

None of the names on this video should be close to Jokić when he retires. Let's wait and see...
I feel Jokic take the mediatic pressure for his teammates and that help a lot. Murray is special and Nuggets can't win the finals without him. Bench player have great performances. We don't know how Miami will bounce back. They have players that can have monster games. Lowry and Jimmy should have one special win soon. Nuggets in 7.
All i know I want a 2peat from this duo
Let's just call it two Allstars
What Jokic is doing is unique, and the = closest to this is MJ's 91 Playoff run
Eliminated Prime Ewing with an upcoming Knicks team that had Mark Jackson and a prime Oak.
Eliminated Prime Charles with Hawkins
Swept the pistons and basically ended that team.
Beat Magic and Worthy in their prime in the finals
Only lost two games of the whole post season
No other all star, and his first finals appearance, and Pip was entering his prime, Horace too, a solid team at best, but no where near diverse and players with scoring ability like this nuggets team, and pip was not averaging anywhere close to Murray, or playing on any level near that offensively, There was no scorer besides MJ, they had a shooter in Paxon and a backup in Hodges, all role players, and yet he dropped 31 PPG and 11 APG, on 3 TOV and this is the most assists in a finals history by a non PG, and did it against the best PG of all time in his prime, also while playing insane level defense, with a toe injury, and pip fouling out game 3 where MJ took it to OT and won the game in LA.
Mj shot 55/50/85 and he averaged almost 3 steals and led the team in blocks at 1.5 per game
This is to me the best playoff run ever, put any other superstar in history on that bulls team, and they would barely get to 2nd round. Let alone beat all these MFs in their prime and win a 1st chip in his first finals.
The lakers were in no way in their prime, and the pistons were in their decline. Stop LOL. Ewing was a choker too. Their best win is Philly? Lmfao.
Plus Jokic speaks English better than a whole lot of NBA players and it's his 2nd language.

Your picture for the Lakers wasn’t the team Dirk beat
What about Steph's run last year?
All history remembers of Lebron is a big crybaby screaming at the Refs on every other play.
Since Adam Silver changed the offensive rules 2016-2017. For example Harden went from 26,27ppg to 36ppg…Plus you have to think about there’s way more possessions today you see there’s way more Triple doubles,40,50 point games…The offensive rule changes are helping the jokers numbers, Defensively players are handicapped from playing defense…But I’m happy we’re gonna have a new champ for a change…He deserves that title for the best player right now…

That was terrible defense on the Lebron shot. They basically just let him run down and score. The greatest run ever? Averaging a triple double does not make you #1 because of position and play style differences
He hasn’t done anything, yet.
Jokic. Is much better than michael jordan!
Bro Jamal Murray is an all star and he probably gonna be in an all star game next year him and Jokic
Cavs won in 2016.
3:02 Why are you showing that trash ass 2015 squad? That makes sweeping the Lakers look way less impressive than it actually was. Show the 2011 Lakers that were the 2 time defending champions even if you can say they were worn out at that point, not some lottery team where Kobe was completely washed up.
Of course Jokic's playoff run this year is better than LeBron's 2018 run. Jokic is one win away from a championship, LeBron got swept in the 2018 Finals and also got taken to 7 games by a very weak Pacers team in the first round as well as the Celtics without Kyrie in the Conference Finals with a 21 year old Jaylen Brown and 19 year old Jayson Tatum. LeBron's 2018 run is very overrated much like 2007 run. Unbelievable how many passes a guy can get when he loses. If he at least won one game in the Finals and/or breezed through those inexperienced teams in the East, it would be way more memorable.
