Nikola Jokic Just Did Something That Has NEVER Been Done Before…Or did He?

  • Everyone is talking about Nikola Jokic and his ridiculous playoff performance
The circus 3 pointers, his insane court vision and his wilt chamberlain like stat lines.
But just how good is the Joker 2023 playoff run actually?
Better than Dirk Nowitzki in 2011? Better than LeBron James in 2018 ?
    That would be crazy!
Or is it possible that his run is just NBA media hype to get more eyeballs on a finals series that casuals wouldn’t otherwise watch?

I cant agree with your last statement. Jordan single-handedly transformed the NBA. Then came Kobe and Lebron: they were born into this. None of them are very original, both are fantastic players of course. So I value Lebron less than Jordan. Also, prime Jordan would beat prime Lebron, maybe even one on one, definitely in a team. Also, it is time to stop pretending LeBron couldn't play in the 90's. Seriously, that argument is getting old. He is a 6'8" 260 beast. LeBron could easily play and dominate in any basketball era. I think is hard to rank players from different eras into the top whatever, but if we must, LeBron has done more with less and for way longer than Jordan ever did.

Lebron was born into a certain era and indeed dominated it. Jordan changed the game. For me, thats a different level of greatness.
But I hear you. For me goat is not the most important question. There was that one ring that Lebron got by sheer will. His team was not ready and he made it happen. I respect that.
I dont really like his media personality, but it does not have to do much with his basketball. Overall, there are better stories for me to embrace. Like Butler, say.

I feel Jokic take the mediatic pressure for his teammates and that help a lot. Murray is special and Nuggets can't win the finals without him. Bench player have great performances. We don't know how Miami will bounce back. They have players that can have monster games. Lowry and Jimmy should have one special win soon. Nuggets in 7.

What Jokic is doing is unique, and the = closest to this is MJ's 91 Playoff run
Eliminated Prime Ewing with an upcoming Knicks team that had Mark Jackson and a prime Oak.
    Eliminated Prime Charles with Hawkins
Swept the pistons and basically ended that team.
Beat Magic and Worthy in their prime in the finals
Only lost two games of the whole post season
No other all star, and his first finals appearance, and Pip was entering his prime, Horace too, a solid team at best, but no where near diverse and players with scoring ability like this nuggets team, and pip was not averaging anywhere close to Murray, or playing on any level near that offensively, There was no scorer besides MJ, they had a shooter in Paxon and a backup in Hodges, all role players, and yet he dropped 31 PPG and 11 APG, on 3 TOV and this is the most assists in a finals history by a non PG, and did it against the best PG of all time in his prime, also while playing insane level defense, with a toe injury, and pip fouling out game 3 where MJ took it to OT and won the game in LA.
Mj shot 55/50/85 and he averaged almost 3 steals and led the team in blocks at 1.5 per game
This is to me the best playoff run ever, put any other superstar in history on that bulls team, and they would barely get to 2nd round. Let alone beat all these MFs in their prime and win a 1st chip in his first finals.

For example Harden went from 26,27ppg to 36ppg…Plus you have to think about there’s way more possessions today you see there’s way more Triple doubles,40,50 point games…The offensive rule changes are helping the jokers numbers, Defensively players are handicapped from playing defense…But I’m happy we’re gonna have a new champ for a change…He deserves that title for the best player right now…

  • @showtimenick824

Of course Jokic's playoff run this year is better than LeBron's 2018 run. Jokic is one win away from a championship, LeBron got swept in the 2018 Finals and also got taken to 7 games by a very weak Pacers team in the first round as well as the Celtics without Kyrie in the Conference Finals with a 21 year old Jaylen Brown and 19 year old Jayson Tatum. LeBron's 2018 run is very overrated much like 2007 run. Unbelievable how many passes a guy can get when he loses. If he at least won one game in the Finals and/or breezed through those inexperienced teams in the East, it would be way more memorable.

@@jietajanlangit8814 First of all learn how capitalization works. Secondly, stop making excuses. Is one win really too much to ask for? Allen Iverson got one win against Shaq and Kobe! It may not be LeBron's fault that game 1 in 2018 went to overtime but you still have 5 more minutes to win the game and LeBron scored 0 overtime points! He is not above criticism! Also Jamal Murray isn't averaging 30 points per game so try again.
