I like it. Wonderland, Market Village, Soi 88 food court, chilled out nowhere near as fast-paced, less traffic than bkk/pattaya, decent beach, but there's not as many options as those places, but I go there every time I go to thailand for a few days. Hua hin was quiet even during Christmas period BEFORE covid, it's always struggled compared to bkk/pattaya/phuket but it attracts a different demographic. And interestingly it seems to attract mainly European tourists compared to bkk/pattaya that have far more indians or russians.

I had a tour around Thailand for 3 months stayed all the main spots from CM to Puhket .. stayed in HH for just 2 weeks but overall it was my fave and I intend to go there for a long stay to fully get into it. Im late 60s and really enjoyed the pace, local people, easy shopping malls, local bars with music etc enjoyed the beach great for a long walk or just sit by the rocks around 5pm for a beer ..perfect! Transport really good..bus,taxi,train station, airport..so getting to Chiang Mai, Bangkok etc is an easy option. So for me a great place to stay long term with options to visit other places from there. Planning a return Sept. Great video! Nice to see a positive spin on Hua Hin from a younger guy. Thank you. :)

I've been visiting Hua Hin for over 20 years to see a now retired work colleague. I used to think it was so boring, I couldn't wait to get to Pattaya after a week in Hua Hin. Now I much prefer Hua Hin...I'd never go back to Pattaya. Hua Hin is perfect for me now. What really appeals to me is that Hua Hin is a proper European tourist place. Nationalities that you see in Pattaya and Phuket in mass...you very rarely see in Hua Hin...I think you will know the nationalities I mean. Anyway, great video.

I'm 63 years old, recently retired and headed to Hua Hin in 10 days from USA. I plan to stay for 1 month to see if this spot would be good for me to live long-term. I have been to about 10 other locations in Thailand over the years and kind of want somewhere quiet in the south. Thanks for your video I feel like I have made a good choice for this upcoming trip. Stay safe!

I just got back last week of 6 months in Thailand. Spent 5 weeks in Hua Hin and my fav by far as a potential place to live. Your video was perfect for a high level understanding of HH without going to deep into details. People can go to other vids for that. I'll share this vid with my friends who ask me what place I liked best. There's one more thing you could have mentioned that is important to me as a place to live. HH is large enough to keep you busy all year doing lots of things within walking distance and even more if you get a scooter, However what I also like is that its really close to Bangkok. Its a very short visit to experience big city life for a 3 day geataway. Catch major enetertainmnet events, huge world class malls, numerous great nieghborhoods, etc...and only 3 hours away by a brand new train or even very comfortable luxury busses for about $10. Even a Grab car ride all the way from dowtown Bangkok to your front door in HH would only be about $65 US.

When I went to Thailand for the first time, it was Phuket. Patong. In 2000. Different from now. I was younger. Now I am 60 and thinking about retiring in Thailand. And Hua Hin is not the place that will impress you most, when you're on holiday. But it is a good place to meet people, have a good time (with your wife, or not your wife) and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle.

Spending time in Bangkok and Pattaya/Jomtien now, but do plan to visit HH later this year. It seems like a cool place for long-term living. I like the combination of a relaxed vibe, clean beaches and a bit of a city feel: shops, malls etc. Also, it is not so close to the affected by the burning season area, so the air quality should be fine. I really liked Hua Hin for the same reasons. I like the quiet style, more local feel. I stayed close to a night life area, walking distance from the train station, almost next to the beach as well. 7/11 around the corner. nice little restaurants as well. aside from not being able to sleep much because I could hear the music, I really enjoyed my stay there. It was a very short stay though. Few nights. But I'm going back in January, staying in two places this time. Still a short stay. But now I can explore two areas a little more. Maybe some other time, I can stay for a month or so. Indeed exploring places to stay for a longer stay.

I just spent 2 weeks in April and all of May in HH. I found the perfect accomodation for price and location. I usually stay in a hotel when I go to a new city/town and treat the first 2 or 3 days finding the best area to live..then the best deals in that area for longer term. I found a fantastic location called Baan Klang Hua Hin Condominium. It's a large residential complex where some people bought units to rent out on AirBnB. Its right in the heart of everything within 2 to 3 blocks walking distance of the beach, largest night street market, largest wet market for fresh food if you like to cook, enetertainmnet areas, etc. The place has 2 pools, gym, baclcony, kitchen etc. It's sort of set behind the stores on the main road which makes it surprisingly quiet considering where you are. I was paying around $25 a night when I booked it for a month with AirBnB. I had to pay extra for water and electricity..which was apx $70 for the month.

It's very popular with older retirees from the West. No crazy nightlife (an old palace of a former Thai King is not far away, so it feels subdued). Quite a few older Westerners go to settle there after they get fed up of the craziness of Pattaya. It's also popular with Thais as a relaxing holiday venue.

I stayed there for 2 months solo. Not as easy to meet people as other areas of Thailand I’ve been although if you get into the local gyms/ bars you’ll probably find it easier. That was one of the downfalls of HH but it is possible to meet others doing similar 👍🏻

Great video. I was in Chiang Mai for 1.5 years and had enough of the weather and no access to a beach so moved to HH 6 weeks ago. Loving it so far. Weather is far better here than CM and it may not be as picturesque as the islands, it's still pretty nice.

From what I’ve seen, any tech from the big companies and trustworthy brands are the same in Thailand and the west. I could be wrong but this is also what others have said too. Buying electricals where you live gives you the added warranty/ ease of return too. La Habana is a nice and modern complex next to the weekend markets, slightly out of the centre but not far to get anywhere by grab or transport. Thanks for the comment!

Hua Hin, far too many Farang for me to live long term, great for a holiday, but not to set up a permanent home. For me, it would be like living in a holiday resort year round. In saying that, I'm taking two middle-aged guys there in November, one first trip to LOS, second only knows Pattaya & Phuket. I was also talking to a mate just this week, he was in Pattaya, looking at booking again in September , I sent him a few youtube videos, soi 90, 80 & soi Bintabaht, he booked it there & then while still in Pattaya. We are setting up home in Cha Am, half an hour up the road, so in touching distance of all Hua hins amenities.

I’ll try but there will be better suited people to answer this than me.
Hua Hin - older demographic, 50+ as a general rule, quite often 60’s or 70’s, farangs.
Bangkok - everyone and anyone depending where you are and what you’re looking for, you’ll probably find a community doing similar things
Chiang Mai - many digital nomads and slightly younger expats that live there long term, less partying

Hua hin is regarded since long as a good retire/relax place because of the slower vibe/pace there.
Its not like the enormous busy Bangkok (5 times bigger than new york)
plastic expensive ttourist Phuket or islands
    or party Pattaya
Rayong on the "otherside" is another slow place where u really can relax and live a calm drama free life
