I am in the US, and also had a vertebral cerebral dissection around the same time. Mine started with ear problems in April, told to use ear drops, then in May I was losing balance, the GP flushed out my ear causing dizziness. So vertigo was diagnosed. I even asked her if it was a stroke because I had a TIA in 2015. Nope she says, go to therapy for vertigo. After 4 weeks of vestibular therapy I was getting worse and developed double vision in my left eye, I could barely walk without holding on to someone. GP still says it’s my ear, so off to see the ENT July 2, she says it’s my ear and vertigo but ordered an MRI, had that on July 9, 2020 and it showed a had a moderate stroke in the last week, 3 doctors completely missed this. Go straight to emergency department to find out I had a dissection between C1 and C2 in my left vertebral artery, causing a 98% blockage. Six months later the blockage hadn’t changed and I was told it wouldn’t clear up at all. So now I’m left with migraine auras and headaches. Never had those before 2020. Doctors in the US are only trained to spot the main signs of stroke like facial paralysis and drooping. I am so glad you are doing as well as you are. Also I was 63 when I had mine. They told me dissection is the leading cause of stroke in people under the age of 40. Sorry for writing a novel!

It is crazy that they all missed it especially since you suggested it to one of them. How are you coming along? and by the way your comment is the perfect length. More of a short story than a novel.

@@BillGasiamis thank you! I am still having aura flare ups so I have to be vigilant with my known triggers. My father was paralyzed on his left side from a stroke at age 32 and thankfully I was blessed to come out of it with only the migraine issues. It could have been much worse. I love the stories you are getting out there. The more aware people are, the more lives can be saved.

It's crazy to think something so serious was dismissed as something less and for so long. I'm sorry to hear you went through the same and hope you are doing well now xx
