Frank Gambale is a guitar hero who unfortunately is still only known in guitarist circles!!!
It was his modes no more mystery that made me who I am today & that was via a VHS video cassette (if you have children explain it too them!!!) In 1990 that made it all click for me!!!!!!
Because of Frank Gambale I have a degree in music!!!
Thanx Frank Gambale & I hope that I can give the world of us guitarists a fraction of what you've given the world!!!
By the way you won't see me in a pink Tweetypie T Shirt (if you know your videos then you'll understand (not Debbie Does Dallas!!Even though that's a classic!!!) but I do have a few pairs of leather trousers that I can guarantee are in a smaller waistband than Frank's (I'm a small set man who Mick Jagger could call a fat b#£&+*d!!) but Thanx too Frank Gambale for being absobloodylutly BRILLIANT!!!

I remember one day, in the eighties, my school mate invited me to his place, we were both aspiring guitarists, music freaks, totally in love with music and musicianship (still to this day). He put on this record he discovered, the first album by Frank, and I fell in love with fusion. I went to the store and I found A present for the future, which was not the same album, and at first I was disappointed, ... but later at home .... ; ))) I discovered I had been luckier than him. Fantastic music we grew up with. Thanks Frank!

I grew up mostly listening to pop and rock music in the 80’s, but I loved Franks unique style and sound when I heard it. Those fluid lines were often beautiful and amazing. They still are.
I wish I could of studied with Frank Gambale to incorporate some of his unique style into my own more when I was younger. His swept lines were different than what was the common often heard guitar leads. He is far to underrated as a musician. Great inspiration for any guitarist who is looking to play lesser explored sounds and ideas.
