First day at MI 1983. you had a pink strat, and I said you're gonna win guitar player of the year award, and you did, rest is history. Cheers Frank
I was a drummer at MI in 1983. I remember his pink strat. When it came time to record a demo tape, I decided to play two Steele Dan songs. Not only did Frank play guitar but he also sang. He even dubbed the harmony vocals. I sure wish I still had that recording.

I studied with Frank at GIT in the mid-80s only 3 years after he graduated. Great teacher and a phenomenal musician!! I remember this concert at MI.

Astonishing technique, he's literally mastered the guitar and seems to be able to play any note selections he wants to, at any speed. He's so musical and intelligent with it though, it's beautiful stuff.
Frank is astounding! His expressivity, harmonic sense, time, phrase. One of the very great improvisers of all time. This period in LA-based music was a rich time. Frank was at the center.

When with my guitar I play his backing tracks I'm also happy. His titles are festive.
As a drummer for over 50 years this is the kind of music I always prefer playing to thank you Frank for the masterpieces you have brought to all of us through the years
Me and all my students use Chopbuilder Workout everyday since its first release, and a lot of his books about improvisation and modes. He is the master of sweep picking and speed picking, and his songs are really melodic and beautiful. Frank Gambale is one of the best rock guitarists ever.
Soon after beginning with Chopbuilder, I decided to go to study to Musicians Institute and I was a proud pupil of Tom Kolb, Chas Grasamke, Dan Gilbert, Carl Schroeder and all these amazing guys. The best guitarists of all times and the best rock school ever. After more than 15 years, I am still studying what I learnt there!!! Thanks Frank Gambale and all the amazing 80's guitarist who inspire new generations!!! 😍

I love Holdsworth, Lane, Garsed, but every time I see you play I realize that you are the greatest among the greats, any time any instrument, you are up there
*Who says 22-frets isn't enough.* It was enough to inspire me to clone his tone and unload comparably as delicious sounds except my playing was for an audience of one lol.
*I'm much too advanced as a player to take lessons but the odd counter to that is I'm in dire need of a student because it would require me to adopt everything a guitar teacher must know, lead by example and demonstrate for a student.*

Ive never seen him with an Ibanez George Benson before no matter he sounds great .
